* ShippingGoggles: InUniverse. Kozue interprets Ban and Oda's interactions during their training for an upcoming pastry competition as something a lot more intimate than they really are, leading to the MistakenForGay moment mentioned previously.

* NotSoDifferent: Probably the reason why Nogami is so harsh to Ban. [[spoiler: She herself was an immensely-spirited young woman who believed that her ambitions would guarantee her success in her youth, and even though she blamed herself for her father's death, she did manage to become a highly successful fashion mogul later on. Believing in Ban's potential to be a great waiter and chef, she personally tested Ban's skills and mettle by having him to wait for her table in her every single visit.]]

* HateSink: Tsuchimiya from the second season is a terrible chef with no sense of taste, but [[SmallNameBigEgo thinks himself as a good cook]]. His passive-aggressive attitude when being told off, and his willingness to play dirty to maintain his position as Legare's chef makes him a hated character, disliked by both his coworkers and the audience.

* PassionIsEvil: [[spoiler: Averted big time during Ban waitering arc, Ban's first competent service got scolded harshly by Nogami (a fashion mogul whose motto is passion) because he acted like a robot, and another service for Nogami & her old acquaintances, he showed his passion to them by explaining their menu like a chef would, which received a standing ovation from everybody]]

* NoSocialSkills: The pastry chef, Oda, is a former Hikkikomori who, despite finding his place in Baccanale, still couldn't communicate well with others and completely ignored Ban when the latter was sent to assist him. [[spoiler:His cold attitude almost drove Ban, who have endured even worse pressure before, to finally quit Baccanale]].

''Bambino!'' is a 14 volume Seinen cooking manga written and illustrated by Sekiya Tetsuji that focuses heavily on SliceOfLife drama. It is completed in 2009 and has an on-going sequel, ''Bambino! Secondo'', which takes place after the opening of Trattoria Legare (Baccanale's second store). Also it has a Live-Action Drama series in 2007 starring [[Music/{{Arashi}} Jun Matsumoto]] as Shogo Ban (his group also made the opening for the series).

* KnifeNut: Coyote Blades again. Then again, it's justified. Coyote was a street kid in a rough part of Mexico, and is a chef specialising in meat dishes. It's impossible for him to not have learned how to handle a knife somewhere along the way.

** Ban wonders why Asuka is dating Hayama - who, at that point of time, was an unemployed drunk who continuously mooches off Asuka for drinking money.
** He later wonders the same thing about Miyuki's current boyfriend, whom he thinks looks like a rat. Ban, with his ShippingGoggles, clearly prefers her to go with Yonamine.
