''BakiTheGrappler'' is a shonen manga revolving around Baki Hanma's quest to become the strongest grappler in the world, thus taking the title from his father, Yujiro Hanma, in addition to gaining the love of his psychotic mother.

Probably one of the most over-the-top fighting mangas to ever be written. If it didn't take it self seriously you would swear it was a parody of martial arts shonen manga.

* BunnyEarsLawyer - Che Guevara throws toy windmills, [[UrineTrouble urinates]] on his opponents and lets them stomp on his face. He's one of the strongest fighters in the world, as well as politically formidable. Dorian also qualifies - singing Charles Aznavour songs while vandalizing Doppo Orochi's house.

* CatSmile - Not how you'd expect; Most older fighters, when particularly excited, give a rather vicious and eager smile that looks positively ''leonine''. Baki tends to have an odd version of this a good deal of the time as well.

* DeathGlare - Baki is the frikking king of this trope. Who else can manage to frighten a super-powerful AxCrazy murderer with a DeathGlare ''while kissing''? Oh, and Baki's girlfriend didn't even notice that there is someone else around.

** Baki's opening move against the Yasha ape is to run up and claw one of its eyes to ribbons. The Yasha Ape's opening move is to tear out and eat its own useless eye, thus causing an ''epic'' OhCrap moment of the 'Why the ''hell'' did I think this was a good idea?!' variety for Baki.

* FauxDeath - Kaku Kaioh fakes his death to survive his fight against Yujiro.

** An even bigger one that the whole damn story revolves around is Baki's foretold confrontation with Yujiroh, which the entire story has been building up to for the better part of its run. Baki even explicitly states when gearing up to fight his father that there's nobody left for him to fight, and all that matters is finally defeating his father. But in spite of being the perfect setup to end the story as a whole and have Baki finally defeat his father... Yujiroh still effortlessly curbstomps him. All of that fighting and the various victories and losses ultimately amount to nothing and Baki might have well spent the entire series just sitting with his thumb up his ass for all the good it did in the end. The only "moral" victory that could possibly be claimed is that Yujiroh finally recognizes Baki as his son, but considering Yujiroh has raped at least one woman and killed Baki's mother in front of him, [[YourApprovalFillsMeWithShame that's the biggest insult of all]].

[[DoubleStandard Of course Baki doesn't, though]]. And when's all said and done, he simply gets put in suspended animation again and that's the glorious end of the Pickle arc.

''New Grappler Baki'' directly follows the climax of the previous series, as the results of the Maximum Tournament unknowingly and inexplicably catch the attention of five death row immates, and their escape and arrival in Tokyo looking to face the strongest fighters in the world. There is also Muhammad Ali Jr., who is trying to prove himself and the art of boxing.

* PickOnSomeoneYourOwnSpecies - Yuri didn't just fight some wolves. He fought ''24'' wolves at the same time and ''won''. They started it, of course. Baki has also fought an ape and a caveman.
** And a mantis. ItMakesSenseInContext, I swear.

* MadeOfIron - Just about every major martial artist. Hanayama, in one of the more outlandish examples, [[spoiler: once took dozens of very literally iron-shattering blows, then had most of his cheeks blown away, then took repeated blows to the head with a metal club, until the club was bent out of shape, then was shot repeatedly, then the super-strong opponent attempted to break his neck by stomping on it several times, then he got a finger slammed all the way in his ear in a killing attack... [[BeyondTheImpossible then Hanayama still kicked his opponent's ass]].]]
