* [[BakiTheGrappler Yujiro Hanma]]. Oh Dear god, yujiro hanma. He's so powerful just about every other martial artist he fights loses so badly it hurts to watch sometimes. Not even The ''forces of nature'' can stop him!

** While there are DC characters stronger than Superman, very few of them live on Earth, and none of them are at Superman's level of fame, making him recognized in-universe as the strongest man in the world.
*** Beings stronger than Supes include: Heracles, most likely Zeus, [[{{New Gods}} Darkseid]], Mongul, Doomsday, Despero, Monarch, [[GreenLantern Sodam Yat]], Vartox (Pre-Crisis), Superboy Prime, Ariella Kent, and his {{Kingdom Come}} counterpart (who crossed over once).
**** Ostensibly Superboy Prime is at the moment the strongest character in the main DC universe - just not emotionally.
* Any other superhero with SuperStrength, though each universe tends to have its own. For example, [[Comicbook/IncredibleHulk the Hulk's]] ''potential'' strength is theoretically unlimited, making him the Marvel Universe's strongest character.
** For any non-buffing award though, it clearly goes to Juggernaut, who not only is super strong but even more invulnerable than the Hulk. To the point he was once reduced to his skeletal frame but much like fellow perpetually angry ImplacableMan Wolverine, just came back and kicked some ass.
*** Hulk has done that too, though. The two are apparently evenly matched on average, due to winning in turns, depending on writer.
** This also depends on the version of the Hulk. Green Scar being the strongest version yet.
* Ozymandias/Adrian Veidt from ''{{Watchmen}}'' is both the strongest man in the world and the smartest man in the world. Seems a little unfair.
** Not to mention his ability to [[spoiler: slip past ''[[PhysicalGod Doctor Manhattan]].'']]
*** At NO POINT is Ozzy said to be the strongest man in the world. He's obviously strong enough to [[spoiler: hurl the Comedian through a plate-glass window]], but that hardly makes him King Of The Strong. In fact, the role-playing material released for Watchmen gives physical strength stats to both Rorschach and Nite Owl that equal his, IIRC.
*** How the heck can any other human being be mistaken for the strongest in a universe with ''Dr Manhattan'' in it??
* [[SheHulk She-Hulk]] is generally billed as the Strongest Woman in the World.
** Although (at times, at least) she has been [[WordOfGod canonically]] described as weaker (relatively speaking) than her villain/rival Titania.
** The fact Shulkie absolutely fucking TROUNCES Titania in 95% of all the fights they have, means this isn't worth much.
* WonderWoman was in the SilverAge described as being stronger than Hercules (and swifter than Hermes, and so forth). Once you get into JusticeLeague business, though, she's clearly not quite as strong as Superman, or {{Supergirl}}, who has the same power-level.
** Although in the ''JusticeLeague'' animated series episode "Paradise Lost" she was shown as being able to go toe-to-toe with Superman in a fight.
*** It should be noted though that this was the same Superman that later revealed he was always holding back his true strength when he gave his [[WorldOfCardboardSpeech world of cardboard speech]]. So Superman probably could have whooped her ass if he felt the fight was serious enough to warrant his full strength and was sure it wouldn't kill her.
** WonderWoman is a complex case. For most of her history she has been unequivocally shown as far below Superman's power levels, until JohnByrne came to write her series for a while and retconned her as "second only to Superman". Ironically enough, it was Byrne himself who downgraded Superman's power in 1986 from the godlike pre-Crisis levels. To the extent that it is possible to arrive at any conclusions on the matter from story canon, one must wonder how such a supposedly powerful character (presumably stronger and faster than, say, Supergirl, Power Girl and Big Barda) has freaking ''Cheetah'' as her nemesis. Then again, DC simply isn't all that serious about such matters.
*** There is a misunderstanding among comic fans that assumes Superman lazily relies on his baseline power level, but as it so happens he has loads of exotic, Kryptonian-level exercise equipment in the Fortress of Solitude, and works out constantly in order to stay primed for Darkseid-level threats.

* ''{{Kingdom of Heaven}}'' includes a particularly powerfully built crusader armed with a massive sword. This would be irrelevant to the trope if he wasn't played by Jouko Ahola, twice winner of the World's Strongest Man competition in the real world.
* Mystical Example: WordOfGod states that [[StarWars Luke Skywalker]] is the most powerful Jedi ever.

* In ''{{A Song of Ice and Fire}}'', Ser Gregor Clegane is freakishly large and strong. He stands almost eight feet tall (according to an official miniture, 7 ft 11, compared to the Hound's 6ft 6) and wields a greatsword with one hand. While mounted, he makes even the largest destrier look undersized, earning him the name "The Mountain That [[strike:[[FanNickname Rapes]]]] Rides." His abnormal dimensions apparently cause him frequent migraines that drive him into a constant state of rage.

* While it's not stated outright in the novels, [[ConanTheBarbarian Conan]] might as well be this for his time; the only things he encounters that ''are'' unequivocally stronger than him aren't human.

* The PC in every RPG ever with the highest Strength stat, obviously. At the very least, he WILL be the strongest man in the world by the time he hits the level cap.

The WorldsStrongestMan is a character who is, well... [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin the strongest man]] in the world or Universe, or, at the very least the strongest ''human''. He may be [[GeniusBruiser brainy]] or [[DumbMuscle stupid]], attractive or ugly, but one thing is for sure... you don't want to mess with him, as he will most definitely wipe the floor with you. He may be going on TheHerosJourney, or he may just be [[MagnificentBastard full of himself and his power]]. If he's a villain, he's usually the BigBad.
