Hot pants, mini shorts, booty shorts, or [[Series/TheDukesOfHazzard daisy dukes]]? Whatever you call them, it can be a great way to ShowSomeLeg without having to worry about a PantyShot. This trope became popular in RealLife around [[TheFifties the mid-1950s]], and even more so during TheSeventies with the introduction of hot pants, and even though it has never been at the height of fashion, it's never really gone away, either. Though it's mostly a female trope, it was by no means uncommon with males in certain past decades (particularly athletic shorts in TheSeventies), and more recently we're seeing more and more male characters slipping in, after major {{aver|tedTrope}}sion or even {{inver|tedTrope}}sion from most of TheNineties through most of TheNewTens.

Sometimes combined with ZettaiRyouiki, ShesGotLegs, and/or ModestyShorts.

* Ninjette from ''ComicBook/{{Empowered}}'' habitually wears a pair apparently held together at the sides by shuriken and with her ''nom de guerre'' [[HighlyVisibleNinja printed across the seat]].
* ''ComicBookFridayThe13thBloodbath'': Violet spends a lot of the story wearing cutoff jeans that cover about as much as a pair of panties would.

It frames the hot-pants she wears and exposes her long, bare legs, serving to act as a quirky, asymmetrical "frill" to her design rather being a genuine skirt. As a combat fighter who prefers close-combat physical fighting, it enables Yang to fight as freely as possible while also accentuating her femininity.
** For the first three volumes, Blake wears a pair of tight white hot-pants over a pair of purple-tinted black tights. The shorts have black zips in the front of each leg, which creates the illusion that she's wearing an exposed garter over her shorts to hold up stockings.
