* ''Series/UltramanTaro'' does this to a ''kaiju'', of all things. One episode involves Veron, the monster pet to the harmless alien boy-band called the Space Boys crashing into Tokyo while drunk on sake, where it goes on an unintentional rampage while intoxicated and tapdancing to music. The final battle had Ultraman Taro using the King Bracelet to summon a ''giant'' bucket of water (one large enough to be held by an Ultra) and splashing its contents on Veron, waking him up, at which point the embarrassed monster quickly leaves and is never seen again.

* ''Literature/DiogenesClub'': In "The Man Who Got Off the Ghost Train", Richard--at the urging of Vanessa, who is child at this point--wakes up Annette by dumping a jug of water on her face.

* It should go without saying this works in real life. As non-aquatic animals, humans have a sensation when suddenly submerged or doused that makes them prepare to swim for their life to avoid drowning. This is why a cold shower (or a shower in general) works so well at waking people up.

* In ''VideoGame/AssassinsCreedValhalla'', when in the Sciropescire arc, when Eivor is looking for Ceolbert, the only guard who knows where to look for him is a drunken, passed out one. Having [[MultiplePersuasionModes Level 3 Charisma]] allows them to learn from his brother they can dunk him in the lake to sober him up. They do just that to get the info they need.

* In ''Film/TheCriminal'', Clobber knock Kelly unconscious, but then wakes him up by emptying a cup of water over his head so he will feel feel the rest of his beating.

* During the events of ''Literature/CuriousGeorge Takes A Job'', George trips out and then passes out on the floor after smelling the contents of a bottle of ether while waiting to be picked up from the hospital by The Man with the Yellow Hat. This is how the doctor, nurse, and The Man find George when they return, and they wake George up by putting him in the shower. George is very surprised and confused when he wakes up.

* Timon and Pumbaa wake Simba up this way in ''Disney/TheLionKing''.
* Subverted in ''Disney/TheHunchbackOfNotreDame'', when Esmeralda lies unconscious from smoke inhalation. Quasimodo tries to revive her by spooning water onto her face, but it doesn't work, and Quasimodo [[DisneyDeath assumes she's dead.]] Fortunately, she revives a few moments later as Quasi is [[CallingTheOldManOut confronting Frollo.]]

* In ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13397638/2/Wandering Wandering]]'' Harry faints after hearing that he has a little over a billion galleons in Gringotts and a goblin throws a bucket of water on him.

* In ''Disney/{{Pinocchio}}'', Geppetto is frightened when his wooden puppet starts moving and talking, so he douses himself with a pitcherful of water in order to "wake" himself from his "dream".

* In ''Film/{{Talladega Nights|TheBalladOfRickyBobby}}'', Ricky Bobby's father throws a bucket on him to wake him up... then throws another on him because he filled up two.

* ''Fanfic/ThePowerOfTheEquinox'': After Dusty Joy [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere flees]] the hallway in which Dimmed Star appears [[ItMakesSenseInTheContext as a creepy moving stain]], the sleep-deprivated maid falls asleep in the gardens. When her boss Peach Seed finds her, he wakes her up by splashing her with water from a nearby pond.
