* In the ''WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty'' episode "Rick Potion #9", Morty's attempt to use a LovePotion on Jessica backfires, resulting in everyone on the planet that isn't biologically related to him falling in love with him. It gets worse when mantis DNA is added to the mix - the world's population mutates into monstrous mantis-people who want to kill Morty after they mate with him. * Adrien Agreste has one in ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug,'' by virtue of being a popular teen model. It's not really an exaggeration to say every girl in Paris (and possibly [[EvenTheGuysWantHim some of the boys]]) is in love with him, but as for named, recurring characters, we've got: protagonist Marinette (and of course, her alter ego Ladybug), [[AlphaBitch Chloe Bourgeois]], [[CompulsiveLiar Lila Rossi]], Kagami, and probably [[HoYay Wayem]]. When Chloe shows a group of girls an autographed poster claiming Adrien loves her and only her, some of them break down in ''tears.''

* You'd think ''VideoGame/GalaxyAngel'' is like this. [[SubvertedTrope Nope]], the game enforces a strict RoadCone early on in the game. The sequel even makes the fact about which girl Tact married very obscure until the last minute to keep it in line with your own choice in the previous games.

The closest this trope comes into play is one instance in Milfeulle's route in Moonlit Lovers, where the Angels start hugging Tact all at the same time [[spoiler:to try and jog Milfie's memories]], and he's visibly uncomfortable.

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ''VideoGame/DotHackGU'''s Haseo manages to round up a rather large group of potential love interests, including four [[GayOption males]], although three of them are essentially zombies. This gives him a grand total of twelve possible characters you can marry in the end of the third game (although the aforementioned zombie characters glomp him instead of marrying him). And that's just characters that you can [[FanPreferredCouple canonically marry]].
* Occurs in the HGame ''Artificial Girl'' 3, where you can have up to five girls in a single savefile.
* ''VideoGame/BaldursGate'' only has three options, although due to class and/or alignment you're pretty unlikely to keep them all in the same party...
* The Spectacles of Eros is a running gag in the ''VideoGame/BlazBlue'' series. Whosoever wears them (like [[AntiHero Ragna]]) pretty much attracts every member of the opposite gender to them, and even some characters of their own gender, even if said characters would normally hate them. Shenanigans will ensue between the infatuated, ranging from Litchi shattering Kokonoe's drugged candy (potent enough to "knock the Black Beast out") to a stripping contest between Makoto and Bullet [[ThinkOfTheCensors that Noel interrupts before it goes too far]] to a cooking contest where Noel and Izanami's cooking wipes out some of the other contestants.
* Garlot of ''VideoGame/BlazeUnion''. He has childhood friends [[GenkiGirl Siskier]] and [[TheSmartGuy Jenon]], along with friends and allies [[CoolBigSis Medoute]], [[TagTeamTwins Luciana and Aegina]], [[FilleFatale Iita]], [[OurMermaidsAreDifferent Sleip]], [[OldMaid Eudy]], [[WorthyOpponent Leon]], and [[TricksterMentor Nessiah]] following him around. All of them have at least a little subtext towards him. As Garlot has other things on his mind--like winning the revolution--he views his party [[TrueCompanions rather innocently]] for the most part. [[spoiler:Three years later, in ''VideoGame/YggdraUnion'', he will ''still'' have the same harem (with a few members missing), and will ''still'' have more important things on his mind than romance. Though Nessiah and the twins appear to be ahead of the rest by then.]]
** In the non-canonical endings to this game, the harem is also pared down thus: [[spoiler:Nessiah, Aegina, and Siskier]] in the good B ending, [[spoiler:Aegina winning]] in the bad B ending, and [[spoiler:Aegina, Luciana, and Siskier]] in the C ending.
* In ''VideoGame/ComeSeeMeTonight'', the main character's parents mysteriously disappear one day, so an old friend of the family offers to let him stay with her. When he arrives, he discovers her 3 beautiful daughters and a CuteClumsyGirl act as hostesses in the restaurant she owns. He slowly but surely becomes the target of their affections as he helps out in the restaurant.
** The sequel involves the son of a family that runs a shrine famous for its annual harvest festival and accompanying "Dance of the Shrine Maidens" taking over his grandfather's duties as chief priest - which involves helping 3 beautiful maidens-in-training learn the dance, as well as learning his own part, and picking which of the maidens will become his wife.
* In ''VideoGame/ADanceWithRogues'', every male character who joins your party ([[HoYay and one female character]]) have at least some interest in the Princess.
* ''VideoGame/{{Fable|I}}'' has this if you get attractive enough. It will result in you being blocked into your house/shops. It is a ScrappyMechanic.
* In ''VideoGame/FatalFrameMaidenOfBlackWater'', Ren Hojo has several women interested in him romantically, including his assistant. What doesn't help is that he's [[CannotTalkToWomen terrified of women]], and two of his admirers are ''ghosts'' that have mistaken him for his [[IdenticalGrandson ancestor]]. The ghostly Matchmaker repeatedly summons him to the mountain in an effort to marry him to a VirginSacrifice, making them both sacrifices to appease the Night Spring. Which "bride" he ultimately chooses determines his ending in the game.
* ''VideoGame/GalGun'' is built around this trope not just narratively but mechanically. The main character accidentally gets hit with cupid-style magic that makes any girl who sees him instantly fall in love with him, and has to fend off the hordes of lovestruck schoolgirls (and a few female teachers) with a gun that briefly knocks them out ([[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything by making them experience "ecstasy"]]). The drama comes in when it's revealed that if any of the girls do manage to confess to him and become his girlfriend, he might [[RedStringOfFate get stuck with that girl forever, magically enforced through "destiny"]], even if the two of them don't actually love each other, which would not lead to a happy life down the line. The player character's goal, therefore, is to find a girl he actually ''does'' like and get into a relationship with her before the day is over.
* In the "anti-dating sim" ''I Just Want To Be Single!'', the protagonist Aya is a socially awkward aromantic who has no interest in dating, but ends up attracting the attention of a small horde of (female) classmates on her first day at her new school. Her objective is to let all of the girls down easily and convince them they're BetterAsFriends.
* Yuri from ''VideoGame/InfiniteSpace''. Let's see, there's his [[spoiler:[[NotBloodSiblings unrelated]]]] [[BrotherSisterIncest sister]] Kira, [[TeacherStudentRomance Nia]], [[DistressedDamsel Katida]], [[WrenchWench Franny]], [[ActiveRoyalty Glorinda]], [[WorthyOpponent Cico]], and [[HoYay Dietrich]]. On the minor characters' side, there's Melania, and possibly Soneto and Mariana have a crush on him as well.
* Link is a victim of this in just about every ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' game. There are multiple stories, videos and pieces of fan art with Link and the most well-known female characters.
* In ''VisualNovel/Lucid9'', Yama's harem consists of Rui (childhood friend who he's insure of whether he has feelings for), Misaki (other childhood friend he's just happy to have around again), Elizabeth (snarky classmate he barely tries to be civil towards for most of the game, and only ends up in his harem because he once blackmailed her to help him), Akira (quirky friend of Rui, who Yama is friendly with, but shows little beyond that [[spoiler:- in fact, it is hinted that she had feelings for Yama but did not tell anyone]] ), and Airi (strange girl who rarely speaks and is shockingly good at a number of things, and seems to be tied to the events of the game in some unseen way). It can be assumed that this harem is very unwanted, especially since Yama would rather keep the status quo for just about everything.
* Tomohiro of ''Magical Dears'' gets one, due to being the only boy in his WizardingSchool.
* From ''VideoGame/MassEffect2'', Mordin [[CoolOldGuy of]] [[BadassBookworm all]] [[DeadlyDoctor people]] claims to have had one of these, or at the very least many come-ons from different species, and he is able to rationalize why each species would find him attractive.
** And the reason he even ''tells'' you all this is because ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4Fwa-OQ1ao he thinks you're making a pass at him]].''
--->'''Mordin:''' Different species react differently to stress. Aware you have come by a great deal. Have had other species become attracted to me before. Awkward. Not interested.
--->'''Shepard:''' You've had members of other species make a pass at you?
--->'''Mordin:''' ''Constantly.'' Very awkward. Skin tone apparently attractive by turian standards. Subset of krogan deviants enjoys salarian flexibility. More cartilage than skeletal structure. Asari offers...intriguing, actually. Wonder why. Trans-species pheromones unlikely to work. ''[inhales]'' Must be neurochemical.
--->'''Shepard:''' ''[tongue-in-cheek]'' I appreciate you letting me down easy.
--->'''Mordin:''' No offense intended. Salarian reproduction different. [[UsefulNotes/{{Asexuality}} Very little sex drive. If intended to try human, would try you.]]
** Shepard also gets this. No matter what species you are, chances are you will want to bang Shepard.
** Best shown in Grunt's loyalty mission, where after defeating a Tresher Maw, ''on-foot'', the first to do so since Wrex over a thousand years previously, also no matter what Shepard's gender, EDI calls and informs you;
--> '''EDI''': There are also several breeding requests for Grunt. And one for ''Shepard.''
** In the Citadel DLC for ''VideoGame/MassEffect3'', if the genophage is cured and Wrex is alive, he will complain that ever since his people became fertile again, every female krogan has lined-up to have their firstborn from him. He even had to sneak out his own bathroom window, and still got cornered by interested females.
---> '''Wrex:''' And Bakara's no help at all. She ''encourages'' it!
%% Takeru gains one in ''VisualNovel/MuvLuvExtra''. ZERO CONTEXT EXAMPLE
* The way the dialogue in ''VideoGame/NeverwinterNights2'' is written, a male player expressing interest in Elanee is reacting to Neeshka as if this trope is in play.
** The dialogue in question is probably an artifact from when Neeshka was going to be a possible love interest for the male PC.
* In ''VisualNovel/OtometekiKoiKakumeiLoveRevo'', Kennosuke, Ren and Souta each have one.
* [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]] is also quite a ladies' man. This is more prominent in the ''VideoGame/PaperMario'' series, especially with Flurrie, [[ClassyCatBurglar Ms. Mowz]], and [[BlackMagicianGirl Vivian]].
* ''VideoGame/Persona3'' plays this trope straight with Akihiko: he has a harem, but he [[ObliviousToLove doesn't pay attention to it]]. He doesn't even know the names of the girls involved.
** In a meta sense, you can be this depending on how you feel about the fact that [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness there isn’t an option to friendzone any of the potential love interests.]]
** A large amount of your male social links (and Aigis) show some interest in you if you play as the female protagonist. Humorously, the most notable exception is Junpei, who's social link involves him putting an to someone stalking you. If you try to initiate a romance with Junpei he'll be flattered but politely reject you. [[spoiler:He was initially planned to have a romance, but it was cut due to the developers finding the idea of two of Junpei's girlfriends dying within the span of a single year a bit too cruel.]]
* Ogami of ''VideoGame/SakuraWars'' gains one, and is one of the earliest originators of the "Harem Hero" archetype.
* Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog has one of these, though most of the girls are never shown.
* In ''VideoGame/WhenYanderesCry'', Nishiki has to deal with a {{Yandere}} variety of this. [[spoiler:[[TheHeroDies It goes about as well as you think it would]].]]
* In ''VideoGame/YggdraUnion'', there's the [[{{Bishonen}} lovely]] [[SugarAndIcePersonality Roswell]]. [[OldMaid Mistel, Eudy]], [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Pamela]], [[BlackComedyRape Ortega]], [[CannotStandThemCannotLiveWithoutThem Ros]][[{{Tsundere}} ary]], [[MeetCute Ygg]][[RescueRomance dra]], and [[LoveRedeems Nessiah]] all seem to want to get into his pants, but the poor guy isn't interested in ''any'' of them. [[ShipTease ...except maybe Yggdra]]. ''Maybe.''

* ''Literature/HalfPrince'': Both [[EvenTheGuysWantHim male]] and female for Prince.
* In ''1 Love 9'', protagonist Takuma moves to Tokyo to attend high school, only to find himself being courted by his female classmates due to there being one male student to every nine females in his school.
* ''LightNovel/ACertainMagicalIndex'':
** [[TheHero Kamijou Touma]], through a combination of RescueRomance and {{Chick Magnet}}ism, has gathered a harem with a number of [[ExtraordinarilyEmpoweredGirl powerful mages and espers]] consisting of [[TokenMiniMoe In]][[ArtifactOfDoom dex]], [[ShockAndAwe Misaka Mikoto]], [[BlessedWithSuck Aisa Himegami]], [[ActionGirl Kanzaki]] [[CoolBigSis Kaori]], [[CloningBlues Misaka's "Sisters"]] (read: her ''9986'' clones), and [[BodyguardCrush Itsuwa]]. Of course his [[CoolBigSis admitted type]] isn't very well-represented in it; the closest he gets is ''Mikoto'', despite her being new to the big sister circuit with everything she does for the Sisters... and for that matter, ''trying'' to take on that role with Touma was well in order to help him out. Considering the hyperdense period the story's actually taken place over (as of the beginning of the Genesis Testament novels, the earliest presented event in the story was six months ago), maybe there is something to the theory that [[AntiMagic Imagine Breaker]] may mess with the RedStringOfFate...
** Later in the series, [[TheAtoner Accelerator]] and [[ButtMonkey Shiage]] [[BadassNormal Hamazura]] gain their ''own'' unwanted harems.
** Volume 14 of New Testament introduces a character with many similarities to Touma, Kamisato Kakeru. It turns out that he had built up a harem for himself amongst a group of women that he saved using his World Rejecter power. However, in a strange twist to the harem genre, Kamisato ''doesn't'' enjoy the fact that a harem had been forced upon him since the girls wouldn't be connected to his life had it not been for the World Rejecter that was suddenly given to him.
* ''Manga/AbnormalKeiJoshi'' features an unwanted harem in which the word "unwanted" is ''strongly emphasized''.
* Very much unwanted in the NotSafeForWork manga ''Adamasu no Majotachi'' - the hero has a condition known as Adamas Syndrome, which allows him to ejaculate rose diamonds worth 5 million yen, but he loses a year of his life every time he ejaculates, and the women just want his semen in order to get rich.
* ''Manga/AhMyGoddess'' is arguably the TropeMaker, since it predates all other examples by many years (1988). Keiichi Morisato somewhat, since not all of the seven Goddesses that have been shown are in love with Keiichi; it does fill the unwanted part with all of them except Belldandy. It's rather poignant, since basically anyone can barge into the temple at any point in time and abuse their welcome.
* In ''Manga/AiYoriAoshi'', Kaoru has Aoi, Tina, Taeko, Mayu and Chika in love with him. Out of all of them, the only one he wants is Aoi, but circumstances prevent him from letting anyone else know that he and Aoi are the OfficialCouple.
* In ''Akarui Kazoku Keikaku'', Honoka naturally draws an assortment of guys who instinctively want to protect her and maybe become her boyfriend, including the guys she has to live with (a pair of twins in kindergarten, a junior high student, a high school student, a college student) and the guys she meets in school.
* In ''Ane Kurabe'', Shun finds himself being pursued by his four childhood friends - Rio the athlete, Miku the cook, Nana the nerd, and Yuri the student president.
* In ''Asa kara Pika Pika'', Itou Maasa finds herself gaining the attention of three brothers, all named Hiroshi.
* ''Manga/SamuraiHaremAsuNoYoichi'' - Yoichi doesn't even realise he even ''has'' a harem.
* ''Manga/KissOfTheRosePrincess'' - Anis has the Rose Knights Kaede, Mitsuru, Seiran and Mutsuki.
* ''LightNovel/BakaAndTestSummonTheBeasts'' - Yoshii has 6 people in love with him: Hazuki, Akira, Toshimitsu, Minami, Mizuki, and as of the recent LightNovel, Hideyoshi. Out of all of these, ironically the only one he truly doesn't want to be in a relationship with is not the [[DudeLooksLikeALady male-if-feminine]] Hideyoshi, but his hot-as-fuck [[BrotherSisterIncest sister]], Akira. At least he has morals.
* [[PlayingWithATrope Not quite deconstructed, but certainly not done straight]] in ''LightNovel/{{Bakemonogatari}}''. The male protagonist (who is [[OurVampiresAreDifferent not quite]] an UnluckyEverydude) gets [[TheTease various]] [[IDidntMeanToTurnYouOn sorts of]] [[UnrequitedLove attention]] from the six girls, at least some of which he would rather do without. What is unusual is that he is [[FirstGirlWins paired off]] before any rivals appear, the [[DebutQueue focus on one girl at a time]] makes it play out more like a succession of love triangles, and [[http://ghostlightning.wordpress.com/2009/09/22/bakemonogatari-11-you-are-not-a-man/ by some analyses]] the lead is a commentary on the typical audience of a harem series. None of this stops the series from being watchable as a straight entry, since [[MaleGaze the audience sees all the girls' flirting from his point of view]].
* ''Manga/BlackCat'': Train has three women pining after him. [[EvenTheGuysWantHim And]] [[HoYay one]] [[StalkerWithACrush man.]]
* In ''Manga/BlackClover'', Asta gains the interest of his teammate Noelle, her cousin Mimosa, and the girl he met on a group date Rebecca. And possibly foreign assassin Mariella and [[spoiler:ancient wizard Secre, previously known as [[TeamPet Nero]]]]. There's also Sally, a MadScientist of the villainous Eye of the Midnight Sun organization who's shown to have great interest in Asta wanting to perform "experiments" on his peculiar body. Overall, Asta is blissfully unaware of this and is devoted to winning the heart of Sister Lily, the [[HollywoodNuns nun]] who works at the orphanage where he was raised -- who isn't interested in him.
* An unusual case is Leicester Maycraft of ''VisualNovel/BlessingOfTheCampanella'', who doesn't seem to be too bothered by the attention from the main girls around him, including his mom Shelly. He seems to just laugh it off even when it happens in public.
* In ''Manga/Brave10'', Saizo starts building one up with ClingyJealousGirl Isanami and CrazyJealousGuy Kamanosuke fighting over him. Throw in a way hands-y [[HeelFaceTurn former]] [[TheDragon arch-enemy]] and a few other unwelcome propositions, and he gets seriously unwanted yandere harem.
* In ''Bonjour Koiaji Patisserie'', protagonist Haruno transfers into a cake-making academy, and becomes the target of affection of the four most handsome boys in the school.
* In ''Butsuri-san de Musou shitetara Motemote ni Narimashita'', the hero is forced to learn magic, and discovers that he can make any girl fall in love with him, gaining a harem of {{Cute Monster Girl}}s.
* ''Horribly'' subverted in the second season of ''Manga/CaseClosed''. A RichBitch named Reika Yotsui ''seems'' to have four young men ([[InsufferableGenius Nikaido]], [[AmbiguouslyBrown Mifune]], Ichieda and [[NiceGuy Gojou]]) and an older man as her all-male harem... but [[spoiler:one of them, Ichieda, actually liked the granddaughter of the family's OldRetainer, Yaeko. Whom Reika and Nikaido ''killed'' years ago. And so, Ichieda poses as a member of the "harem"... and then he kills Reika and Nikaido.]]
* ''Manga/CheekyAngel'' has another female main character with a male harem although there are some [[GenderBender gender issues]].
* One ''Manga/CityHunter'' story arc has a female-central version. Kimiko, the seventeen-year-old GirlOfTheWeek in said story arc, finds herself surrounded by many men who wish to marry her despite her clear lack of interest in marriage at this point in her life (that, and the fact that all of the pursuing men are strangers). Her grandfather hires Ryo to help her keep the pursuers off her back, while Ryo considers finding out the reason behind such a sudden surge of pursuers imperative to fulfilling his job.
* Semi-parodied in one episode of ''VisualNovel/{{Clannad}}'': [[TomboyAndGirlyGirl Kyou 'n Ryou]], [[TeenGenius Kotomi]], and [[StudentCouncilPresident Tomoyo]], all of whom are hoping to capture Tomoya, [[ContrivedCoincidence independently make gigantic boxed lunches for him on the same day]]. They each attempt to guilt-trip him into choosing theirs, and then [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Fuko appears]] to "solve" the dilemma by [[UpToEleven adding yet another giant lunchbox to the mix]]. To keep them all from being offended, he ends up [[MarryThemAll eating all of the food]]. Naturally, the only heroine who ''wasn't'' involved in this fiasco ([[YamatoNadeshiko Nagisa]]) [[TakeAThirdOption is the one he ends up with.]]
* Played for laughs in ''Manga/DFrag''. Kenji Kazama is a self-appointed delinquent who would prefer to hang out with his (three-person) gang, but he is continually being forced into uncomfortable and often painful situations by the ''both'' of the school's otherwise all-girl Game Development Clubs, both the original and one that split off, which he is a part of (minus Yamada and Sakuragaoka in the original club, but the latter ''severely'' suffers from DudeLooksLikeALady syndrome). This normally results in large amounts of pain or embarrassment towards him.
* In ''VisualNovel/DaCapo'', almost every main girl is somewhat romantically related to Junichi.
* Initially present in ''LightNovel/DateALive''. Shido is forced into dating the Spirits lest his embarrassing past be made public. This is similar to ''Manga/TheWorldGodOnlyKnows'' in that there's an ulterior motive - the Spirits are incredibly powerful and cause destruction even without intending it, and Shido is inexplicably able to seal their powers by making them fall in love with him. He becomes more willing after learning about this.
* Mamoru Onodera from ''Manga/DeadlineSummoner'' presumably did not get much say in whether or not his summons joined the party. Particularly poignant in that summons are not supposed to act independently of their masters.
* Isana, Merry and Yui for Yumeji in ''Manga/DreamEaterMerry''.
* ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'':
** [[ShrinkingViolet Anri Sonohara]] has a reverse harem with three guys: [[BromanticFoil Kida]], Mikado, and [[TeacherStudentRomance Nasujima-sensei.]] However, due to her [[BreakThecutie terrible past]], [[BrokenBird the poor girl]] is very uncomfortable with the deal. Although one of these men is in a rather OfficialCouple thus far... and yet he still gets some bits of ShipTease with her. Huh.
** Shizuo, of all people, is at the center of what looks like one, but is actually a subversion. Varona, Akane, and the Orihara twins all spend a lot of effort to get close to Shizuo, to the point that random onlookers think that Varona is his girlfriend and Akane her daughter. The truth is that Varona wants to kill him to test the limits of human strength, Akane wants to kill him because someone told her he was a threat to her family, and the Orihara twins are just hanging out in an effort to get close to his famous brother. When Varona and Akane first meet, they have a GreenEyedMonster argument about who gets to murder him first, which even Shizuo's best friend Tom mistakes for two love rivals squaring off. And then there's Saika and her children, a HiveMind that loves humanity and is obsessed with Shizuo [[WorldsStrongestMan for being the strongest human]]. Saika's current host, [[spoiler:Anri Sonohara]], gets very weird feelings whenever she sees Shizuo because of this.
* In ''Anime/ElHazardTheMagnificentWorld'', Makoto collects the interest of nearly every girl in the series.
* In ''VisualNovel/FinalApproach'' Loosely, Emiho, Miki, Shizuka and Akane are romantically involved with Ryo in varying degrees.
* In ''Anime/{{Fractale}}'', Phryne, Nessa, and Enri all seem to have some sort of feeling for Clain, but he only has feelings for Phryne.
* Fujimura-kun from ''Manga/FujimuraKunMates'', consisting of a {{Cloudcuckoolander}}, a SchoolIdol, and the StudentCouncilPresident. Three adorable girls who are all deeply in love with him. And they are willing to [[MarryThemAll share]], too! It is a merciless parody however, as Fujimura is in no way happy with the attention he gets '''at all''', and all of the girls are more or less complete morons with Fujimura being the OnlySaneMan.
* Utsumi in ''Manga/GEGoodEnding'' develops one at one point.
* ''Manga/{{Gintama}}'' eventually turns into this. Some fans speculate that Gintoki's lack of interest in anyone could mean he's UsefulNotes/{{asexual}}, especially after recanting his crush on the weather girl & claiming he was just a fan. This is PlayedForLaughs in one storyline where the female characters (including old lady Otose) and... MADAO convince Gin that he had a one-night stand with them (on the same night) and now has to take responsibility. It's a ploy to get him to stop drinking so much.
* ''Manga/GirlsBravo'': Four girls have feelings for Yukinari, one is a bully who has beaten him up almost every day for years, another is an insane {{Yandere}} DarkMagicalGirl who tries to abduct and rape him, the third one is a kind and sweet girl who does not set off his woman allergy, the fourth one is the BigBad another {{Yandere}} DarkMagicalGirl.
* ''Manga/GirlsSaurus'' thoroughly establishes the "unwanted" part, as the male protagonist Shingo suffers from extreme gynophobia after being violated and brutalised by a [[{{Gonk}} gonkish]] admirer. This does nothing to deter a very determined main cast of girls (including his own sister!) as well as several minor hopefuls. At one point he states how their shriveled hag of a teacher is his "ideal woman" (no threatening sex appeal) which causes her to have a womanly awakening overnight, become hot and young-looking, and try to woo him very directly. He does not approve.
* ''Manga/GokujouDrops'' uses a GirlsLove version of this trope with a {{Seme}} harem and an {{Uke}} harem lead.
* ''Guardian Hearts'' - a harem of {{Magical Girl}}s. Specifically: a "guardian heart", the protector of the peace and well-being of Earth (basically a MagicalGirlWarrior); a [[GratuitousPrincess princess]] from a MagicWorld; a [[TheRunaway runaway]] [[GratuitousNinja ninja]]; a HumanAlien CosplayOtakuGirl; a HumanAlien {{Miko}}; and a ShapeShifting bird with a [[HumanityEnsues human form]].
* In ''Manga/HachiIchi'', Shinichirou's grandfather deems his current life-style unfit for a heir, so he throws him into a house with eight young and beautiful girls and tells him that within one year he'll have to choose one of them as his bride.
* ''Manga/HajimeteNoAku'':
** Jiro has [[{{Tsundere}} Kyoko]], [[OurVampiresAreDifferent Makurazaki Luna]], [[RobotGirl 2.0]], and [[DatingCatwoman Shizuka Kusakabe]] all vying for his affections. [[WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove He does not understand nor notice]].
** Kyoko has her fanclub, Jiro, and Kujou Sukenoshin.
* Subverted in ''Anime/HanaNoKoLunlun'''s Netherlands arc. Lunlun befriends three handsome brothers... but the three fall for her [[spoiler:after a "pep talk" from Togenishia]] and propose to her at the same time. [[spoiler:Lunlun [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere runs away as soon as she can]] to continue her mission, much to the three's dismay, and AnAesop about shallowness is delivered by Serge.]]
** Also alluded to and tweaked in a story that's mentioned in said episode. [[spoiler:A princess had three suitors, each one giving her a precious gift: a crown, a sword, and a jewel. She doesn't like any of them so she takes a third option via using magic to transform herself into the first tulip flower: the three petals symbolize the crown, the sharp leaves take after the sword, and the bulb looks like the jewel.]]
* ''Manga/HanaukyoMaidTeam''. Hanaukyo Taro inherited his grandfather's fortune and, with that, hundreds of maids willing to serve him. In each season he has three personal maids who constantly try to seduce him. The problem: he's only a child.
* [[TheIngenue Kurumi Akino]] from ''Manga/HaouAiren'' has a reverse harem with [[AsskickingEqualsAuthority Hakuron]], [[BreakTheCutie Huo Long]], [[BloodKnight Di Long]], [[SmugSnake Yishan Yang]] and [[AdorablyPrecociousChild Kaafai]] after her, each in their own ways. (And in a roundabout way, [[BadassInANiceSuit Fuuron]] ''may'' count too.) Considering how {{melodrama}}tic this manga is as well as Hakuron's BastardBoyfriend nature, the trope is very much ''not'' PlayedForLaughs.
* ''Manga/HappyLesson'' has a school full of {{Hot Teacher}}s who all decide to play mom for the [[{{Hikikomori}} socially-withdrawn]] Chitose, who doesn't really grow to appreciate this suddenly forced invasion of personal space until well into the series, and even then he still blows his top when he thinks they go too far.
* ''LightNovel/HarukaNogizakasSecret'' - Yuuto has a small one forming around him. Haruka is already a given (and is probably [[FirstGirlWins the only one whose affections he will ever reciprocate]]); Shiina is attracted to him, but [[LoveTriangle can't decide]] between him [[LesYay and Haruka]]; Yukari is [[TeacherStudentRomance hitting on him (to no avail)]]; matchmakers Hazuki and Nanami are [[MatchmakerCrush developing crushes on him]]; Alice [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe treats him as her "onii-chan"]]; Mika apparently has the hots for him; and then there's [[{{Tsundere}} Touka]].
* Subverted and most likely PlayedForLaughs in the last ''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'' manga volume. When he gets to meet the GenderFlip versions of the Allies (plus female!Japan and female!North Italy), all of them fitting at least the basics traits of a prospect harem... [[http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k561/pipipiyo/VOLUME%204/nyoo.png Estonia pretty much]] [[http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k561/pipipiyo/VOLUME%204/nyooo2.png has a]] [[http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k561/pipipiyo/VOLUME%204/nyoo3.png meltdown.]]
* Both main characters in ''Manga/HisFavorite'' experience this. Yoshida, while being the unattractive BeadyEyedLoser he is in-universe, has three people with unrequited crushes on him (ChronicHeroSyndrome Nishida, [[{{Narcissist}} Narcissistic]] WholesomeCrossdresser Murakami and {{Dominatrix}} Tsuyako). Saito tops him with nearly the entire female student population in his school ''and'' girls from many other nearby schools due to his [[SoBeautifulItsACurse irresistible looks]]. The "unwanted" part comes into play when the two are already in a relationship ''with each other'' since the beginning and both their respective admirers won't back down when they found out, especially since Saito is [[SingleTargetSexuality only interested in Yoshida and no one else]].
* Yura of ''Manga/HoneyHunt'' has three guys after her.
* In ''LightNovel/HowToRaiseABoringGirlfriend'', the girls who are part of Tomoya's group to create a visual novel are this towards him, who is ObliviousToLove.
* ''Manga/HozukiSanChiNoAneki'' There's one developing around Gorou with Misaki, Mizuno, and Kyou - it's unwanted because he's too smitten with his stepsister Haru to consider any of them as a love interest.
* Taken UpToEleven in a Jump Square oneshot where the girls fall for a guy that [[IncompatibleOrientation isn't even attracted to girls]]. Heck, the ''title'' - "[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin I'm the Main Character of a Harem Manga, but I'm Gay so Every Day is Hell for Me]]" - gives it away.
* ''LightNovel/InfiniteStratos'' may seem like a PoweredArmor FightingSeries at a first glance, but the reason for most of the fighting is this very trope. The protagonist somehow ends up being the only male compatible with the titular battlesuit, which means he has to attend an academy full of jealous female pilots. He's not exactly TheAce either, so they often resort to [[DefeatMeansFriendship trying to date him at gunpoint]].
** In the anime version, this is technically subverted, as Ichika is totally oblivious to the romantic desires/intentions of his friends. Even when they confront him directly about dating him, it goes right over his head.
** In the manga version, Ichiko is aware of his harem, and utterly terrified to act on that, fearing that if he were to pick one, the others would kill them in a fit of jealous rage. Hence, he acts like an oblivious idiot around them.
* In ''LightNovel/InvadersOfTheRokujyouma'', after moving into his new apartment, Satomi gets one composed of a CuteGhostGirl, a MagicalGirlWarrior, a {{Miko}} from an underground race and a HumanAlien princess and her servant, with another AlienPrincess and a DarkMagicalGirl joining much later. At first it's just his room that they're interested in, but as time goes by, they genuinely fall in love with him. In addition, the head of the school knitting club has a crush on him.
* ''Anime/IrresponsibleCaptainTylor''. [[spoiler:AVERTED and wrapped up in a single episode where Tylor manages to blow off confessions of his harem. Whether this was on purpose or just bad timing is up to interpretations, like everything about [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation Tylor]].]]
* ''LightNovel/KagerouDaze'': [[{{Tsundere}} Hiyori Asahina]], who has her own Fan Club in school, and is a borderline-meme in her home town ("Boys become men when they fall for Asahina!") despite only being 12. She personally finds it rather annoying.
* Parodied in the ''Manga/KaguyaSamaLoveIsWar'' bonus chapter "Kagukoku: Miyuki and His Girls" where Shirogane awakens to find himself in a Heisei-era harem series with the girls he knows (only one of whom is actually in love with him in canon) turned into a stereotypical harem. Kei is the brocon step-sister who lives alone with him while their parents are overseas, Fujiwara is the clingy childhood friend who made him promise to marry her when they were kids, Kaguya is the haughty IceQueen who falls for him [[SomebodyDoesntLoveRaymond the moment he makes a comment about her behavior]], Hayasaka is the perverted maid, and Iino is the kohai who has a crush on him [[SmittenTeenageGirl for no reason whatsoever]]. [[spoiler:The whole thing turns out to have been a dream that Ishigami was having.]]
* ''LightNovel/{{Kampfer}}'': [[AttractiveBentGender Everybody seems to be interested in]] Natsuru. At the last count, Akane, Kaede (the only "wanted" part), Mikoto and maybe Shizuku (if she's not just messing with Natsuru's brain).
* In ''Manga/KashimashiGirlMeetsGirl'', EVERYONE - regardless of gender, species, or relation - wants Hazumu.
* In ''Manga/KemekoDeluxe'', Sanpeita ends up with MM, Izumi, Vanilla, Miura and a {{Miko}} after him.
* ''VideoGame/LaCordaDOro'' has a reverse harem surrounding Hino.
* In ''LightNovel/KonoSuba'', a jealous adventurer, Dust, complains about how unfair it is for Kazuma to have a [[BattleHarem party]] full of high-tier job class girls even though he has a low-tier class. Kazuma flips out not because of being called weak but because he had to personally experience how dysfunctional his team actually is in terms of personality and actual combat performance. The two then switch parties, resulting in an unusually successful day for Kazuma and a near TotalPartyKill for Dust, causing the latter to beg for his old team back.
* ''Manga/KuroganePukapukaTai'' is a GirlsLove version of this, in which [[ObliviousToLove Oblivious To Lesbianism]] Commander Kuki is the center of a harem of women after her: violently protective but shy XO Mamiya, (mostly) ChivalrousPervert U-Boat captain Nina, and aggressively womanizing Royal Navy Captain Ann. Much violence (but little blood) ensues, naturally.
* Since there are only two people in it I am not sure ''LightNovel/{{Kanokon}}'' counts as a harem but considering that both of them are centuries old demons that constantly attempt to rape the protagonist it is definitely unwanted for him. At the end he [[spoiler:gets the [[MarryThemAll Tenchi Solution]] and he doesn't have any say in the matter]].
* ''LightNovel/KyoKaraMaoh'' straddles the line between this and CastFullOfPrettyBoys - only two of Yuuri's royal retainers actually demonstrate clear romantic interest in him (Wolfram, his accidental fiance - long story - and Gunter, whose over-the-top fawning is played for laughs), but he gets ShipTease with nearly every male character the show encounters...despite his own protestations that he's totally straight, hence the 'unwanted'. The castle maids have a betting pool as to who'll win in the end.
* Next to ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'', ''Manga/LoveHina'' is one of the most well known examples. By a third of the way through the series, Keitaro literally has beautiful girls throwing themselves at him (Shinobu, Mutsumi, and Motoko). Problem is he's already made up his mind, Naru.
* ''LightNovel/LordMarksmanAndVanadis'': The male protagonist, Tigrevurmud Vorn, builds up quite a harem for himself as the novel volumes go by; gaining the attention of each of the Zchted Kingdom's seven legendary Vanadis - all of which are women. And even outside the seven Vanadis, his personal maid from his home village, a general of one of the Vanadis, and even [[spoiler:the eventual queen of the Brune Kingdom]], have all shown interest in him.
* ''Manga/{{Magikano}}'' - Haruo has Aymumi, Yuri, [[BrotherSisterIncest his sister Maika]] and Marin (although in her case, it's unclear if she DOES have deeper feelings for him).
* In ''VisualNovel/MajikoiLoveMeSeriously'', Yamato confesses his feelings to Momoyo, but she rejects him, wanting to remain friends. The other four girls then decide they want a shot at taking him.
* ''Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico'' could be described as the wacky, bipolar love child of ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'' and ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam''. There's a lot of women on that ship, and much to the chagrin of the male crew, almost all of them (or at least the one's with screen time and names) insist on fighting over the UnluckyEverydude who has enough problems of his own. Lampshaded in one scene where one of them points out it's a popular anime trope.
* ''Manga/{{Mahoromatic}}'': Suguru has [[RobotMaid Mahoro]] Rin, Miyuki, Chizuko and [[TeacherStudentRomance Ms. Shikijo]].
* ''LightNovel/MayoChiki''. Pretty much all the main girls to Jiro. Kanade in particular likes to tease him a lot. Although she claims to be doing it under the pretext of curing him of his gynophobia, she seems to like watching him suffer when other girls are around him as well, especially with Subaru.
* Takumi gains one in ''LightNovel/MayoiNekoOverrun''.
* ''LightNovel/{{MM}}'': Taro has Mio, Arashiko, Noa, Tomoko and Shizuka after him. It's a little {{Squick}}y considering the last 2 are [[IncestSubtext related]] to him.
* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSeedDestiny'' introduces one for Athrun Zala, as Lunamaria "Luna" Hawke, her younger sister Meyrin, and his ex girlfriend Lacus's BodyDouble Meer all compete for his attention. Athrun, for his part, is still in love with Cagalli, and even ignoring that, is too focused on the war effort ''and'' [[BrokenAce on his deep issues]] to pay much attention to romance, so he generally just ignores it all (with the exception of Meer, who is the most outspoken one since she's been led to think he's still engaged to Lacus, and [[JustFriends while Athrun cares for her as a person]] and shows worry for her actually quite difficult life, [[NoGuyWantstoBeChased he'd rather not have her chasing him]]). [[spoiler:The series ends on an inconclusive note: Athrun and Cagalli still care for each other greatly but their romantic relationship is in tatters, and may be irrecoverable, and not to mention Cagalli herself has finally become an PoliticallyActivePrincess so she [[CareerVersusMan priorises her political work]]. Luna has hooked up with her best friend and teammate Shinn instead, while Meer pulled an HeroicSacrifice for Lacus in front of a shocked and tearful Athrun. Meyrin is shown accompanying him at the end, but the nature of their relationship could go in either the romantic or JustFriends way.]]
* Yuuki Momozono, the protagonist from ''Manga/MomogumiPlusSenki'' started to gain this position as soon as he come into the story. To specify: Yukishiro, Sawa and Masahiko, the three devoted followers, each have their own moments that is ''much'' more than that master-follower relationship, Koh is rather too friendly around him, Uraha is {{Tsundere}} around him, [[SugarAndIcePersonality Saolan]] expresses interest in him, [[{{Otaku}} Kikyo]] clearly likes him as his "[[WholesomeCrossdresser Rurika]]", Cinderella (clearly an expy of Belarus from ''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'') also wanted him to be her prince before settling on being friends with him and finally [[ShrinkingViolet Tokiha]] was his previous incarnation's love interest, and spent all her lives to find the Momotaro that is his reincarnation who knew of her "True Name" (Which Yuuki happened to be).
* ''Manga/MonsterMusume'' has the main character suffering through this with different [[CuteMonsterGirl monster girls.]] So far, there's a [[SnakePeople Lamia,]] [[OurCentaursAreDifferent Centaur,]] [[HarpingOnAboutHarpies Harpy,]] [[BlobMonster a Slime girl,]] [[OurMermaidsAreDifferent a Mermaid,]] [[SpiderPeople an Arachne]] and [[HeadlessHorseman a Dullahan.]] Somewhat unusually for the genre, the main character is well aware of their affections for him and actually returns some of their feelings, he just doesn't want to choose any one of them because it'll mean breaking the hearts of the rest. Plus, he actually has the Japanese government pressuring him to marry one of them.
* ''Manga/MyBalls'' has a bunch of [[CuteMonsterGirl Cute Monster Girls]] after the MC, because they're trying to make him ejaculate and [[ItMakesSenseInContext free a demon from his right testicle]].
* In a technical sense, ''Manga/MyBrideIsAMermaid'' would count, as San, Lunar, the ClassRepresentative, Mawari, and possibly Akeno all have feelings for Nagasumi. Of course, it goes nowhere, as [[FirstGirlWins it's clear from the outset that Nagasumi is dedicated to San]].
* Catarina, from ''LightNovel/MyNextLifeAsAVillainessAllRoutesLeadToDoom'' doesn't seek a harem, but gets one comprised of both guys and girls, by being a kind and caring (if not stupid) friend to them. Furthermore, she is so dense she doesn't notice that one is growing around her, of both genders, thinking herself still the villainess.
* ''Manga/NagasareteAirantou''. Not only is it an Unwanted Harem, it's also on a deserted island filled with women and talking animals. The women are determined to have the Ikuto, the only male, to themselves, to an often violent degree.
* [[DracoInLeatherPants Sasuke]] from ''Manga/{{Naruto}}''. Just about every girl back at the Ninja Academy, Ino and Sakura included, practically drooled all over him whenever he was around. Tenten and Temari also comment on him being cute at some point. Later and judging by Karin's and Mei's reactions to him, this trend has continued.
* ''Manga/NectarOfDharani'': Kai gets a princess of a fallen kingdom, a pureblood werecat, an army captain, an alchemist, and a princess of a prospering kingdom all lusting after him. Kai is well aware that the situation makes his life much more complicated... but can't help but privately admit that it has its perks.
* ''Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi'' plays it straight... [[GenreShift for about 2 volumes]], then {{Subvert|edTrope}}s it, {{Avert|edTrope}}s it, {{Lampshade|Hanging}}s it, and [[ZigZaggingTrope turns it upside down before playing it straight AGAIN. Maybe]]. [[JustForFun/TropeOverdosed Would you like a side of trope with that?]] It's unusual mainly because the male lead is ''[[AdorablyPrecociousChild 10 years old]]'', and all the girls (who are also his students) are well above his age (although still too young), so the romance is mostly played for laughs. The ones who ''do'' have serious romantic moments are Nodoka, Yue, Ako ([[LovesMyAlterEgo in love with his aged-up alter-ego]]), Makie, Chachamaru (a ''[[RobotGirl robot]]''), Ku Fei, [[ComedicShotacon Ayaka]], Akira, Chisame, and Asuna ([[ShipTease maybe]]). Later he also has to deal with Anya, Shiori, and [[EvenTheGuysWantHim Fate]]. And these are just the ones who can be described as having a ''serious'' crush. For the non-serious: Konoka mentioned that Negi would be attractive when he got older in an early volume, Setsuna had a pretty [[ShipTease shipteasy]] moment that Chamo noted sounded 'like a love confession' during the TournamentArc (though it turned into a KonoSetsu moment pretty quickly), and Misa proposed the [[WifeHusbandry Reverse Hikaru Genji plan]], noting that if they waited five years it would be much more normal for the girls to go out with him and later also got a crush on his older counterpart. Overall, that's ''11 or 12'' that have a definite interest in him, and 3 more that have expressed at least a small attraction.
* ''Manga/NinjaNonsense'' parodies this in episode 11 when Sasuke [[HostileShowTakeover takes over the show]]. He promptly makes all the female cast members (including Kaede's mom) fall in love with him.
* ''Manga/{{Nisekoi}}'' - Raku has Chitoge, Kosaki, Seishirou, and Marika. The problem is, he made a ChildhoodMarriagePromise to Chitoge, Marika and Kosaki, and to make matters more complicated, he must at least [[TheBeard pretend to be dating Chitoge]] or his yakuza and her gangster family will start a war, Seishirou is an assassin sent to kill him if he ever stops going out with Chitoge, and he can't dump Marika because her family controls the police and his family is a yakuza one. And that's just the first season. Chapter 58 introduces Seishirou's rival, Paula [=McCoy=], and who knows what that one is thinking. When she was first introduced, she tried to challenge Seishirou to a duel, and when she proceeded to ignore her, challenged her to a contest to see which of them could kiss Raku first- by force if need be, and gunfire is allowed to be used to prevent the other from winning. The next time we see her, she's sitting in class next to Kosaki's sister Haru, and she brought her hand grenades with her. And then, Haru and Yui Kanakura (Raku's childhood friend and the main cast's new homeroom teacher) also end up included in the harem.
* ''Manga/NyanKoi'' is all about Junpei Kosaka doing favors for cats. That doesn't mean his harem is non existent. Kaede Mizuno, Kanako Sumiyoshi, Nagi Ichinose (probably), Akari Kirishima, Kotone Kirishima, and if you want to add her Chizuru Mochizuki all love cats, and putting two and two together, you get one harem based on cats. Of course, the cats take more of a priority over his harem.
* ''LightNovel/NyarukoCrawlingWithLove'': Mahiro has the affections of Nyarko, Hasta, Tamao, and later Cuuko. Nyarko is the obvious winner, but even ''she's'' unwanted to an extent thanks to her ManicPixieDreamGirl and LovableSexManiac ways clashing with Mahiro's shy and introverted personality. Tamao took herself out of the equation by [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy stepping aside]] and [[ShipperOnDeck helping Nyarko try to win]], while Hasta is a CuteShotaroBoy and Mahiro [[IncompatibleOrientation is decidedly heterosexual]]. Cuuko starts off with a PsychoLesbian crush on Nyarko, but starts advocating the threesome solution when she develops feelings for Mahiro; they both reject the idea, Nyarko because their races are mortal enemies (and she doesn't like Cuuko to begin with) and Mahiro because it involves him playing MisterSeahorse. The cherry on top of it all is that Nyarko, Cuuko, and Hasta are actually [[Franchise/CthulhuMythos Nyarlathotep the Crawling Chaos, Cthuguha the Living Flame and Hastur the Unspeakable One]] in [[MoeAnthropomorphism human form]] -- and Mahiro knows his [[Creator/HPLovecraft Lovecraft]].
* In ''Manga/OmamoriHimari'', Amakawa Yuuto has an Unwanted Harem comprising two {{Unlucky Childhood Friend}}s and at least twice that number of {{Cute Monster Girl}}s. Yuuto cares about Himari the most. Not that it stops the others, especially Rinko and Kuesu, from trying to hook up with him. [[spoiler:At the end, while no one officially got married, Yuuto is now living with a dozen girls, half of whom had sex with him, and he seems to be going along with this.]]
* ''Manga/OnePiece'':
** Exaggerated after Luffy does the gorgon sisters one of the biggest favours they could ever ask for, he ends up with an entire ISLAND of Amazons immediately taking a liking to him, though Luffy himself treats the inhabitants of Amazon Lily (including their queen, the WorldsMostBeautifulWoman) as friends at most.
** The Reverie arc makes it quite clear that Luffy unknowingly created a royalty harem for himself that consists of Princess Vivi of Alabasta, Princess Shirahoshi of Fishman Island, and Princess Rebecca of Dressrosa. All three of which met each other during this arc, and were able to easily get along due to having one notable thing in common; being saved by Luffy and his Straw Hat crew. Add in the Snake Princess, Boa Hancock, having fallen madly in love with him, and that's a total of ''four'' girls of royalty showing interest towards Luffy.
** This trope is played straight with Sanji, who really does have the inhabitants of an entire island wanting to get in his pants. The problem is said inhabitants are all okamas, so he spent the entire time on that island literally running away from his admirers.
* Tomoya in ''Manga/OneechanGaKita'' has at least two girls interested in him. His NotBloodSiblings step-sister Ichika, and his classmate Fujisaki. A couple of the other female characters, while not actively chasing after him, have also expressed some interest in him as well. And while he likes Fujisaki, his sister is a ClingyJealousGirl who won't let the former have her way with him.
* In ''LightNovel/{{Oreimo}}'', the male lead Kyousuke found himself with one, which include his blood related little sister [[BrotherSisterIncest Kirino]], her friend [[ElegantGothicLolita Kuroneko]], the {{Yandere}} Ayase and Kanako. His [[UnluckyChildhoodFriend childhood friend Manami]] couldn't even manage to enter this list since he never sees her more than a friend. In the end [[spoiler:Kirino [[FirstGirlWins win]], as she is the first one appeared in the series, the one who spent the most time with him (they are siblings, after all) and the first one to love him (a childish crush that she didn't have a chance to solve)]]
* In ''LightNovel/{{Oreshura}}'', Eita suffers from this when the most popular girl at their school suddenly proclaims him to be [[BoyfriendBluff her boyfriend]], largely to stop so many boys from asking her out. This doesn't sit too well with his ChildhoodFriend Chiwa, and she keeps close tabs on him. Then another girl, Himeka, shows up, writes him several [[LoveLetterLunacy love letters]], and gives him [[TheGlomp a big hug]] against his will, which the other two girls see, and [[ClingyJealousGirl aren't too happy about.]] A bit later, the obligatory {{tsundere}} makes her appearance, and [[HilarityEnsues all hope of romantic stability is lost]].
* ''Manga/OuranHighSchoolHostClub'' plays this both plays this straight and inverts it. The harem involving Haruhi and the other hosts is played completely straight, and the individual harems of all the boys are inverted. It's what keeps them in business.
* ''Manga/Overlord2012'': Ainz is a particularly impressive case, as he not only doesn't want a harem (he sees Nazarick [=NPCs=] created by his guildmates as their children and thus responsible for their safety and well-being), he wouldn't know what to do with them if he did, what with being a lich who lacks the necessary glands and organs. Each of his conquests was entirely accidental:
** Albedo's (a succubus) settings were overwritten from "slut" to "madly in love with me" as a joke (even after Ainz explains this, she considers it an honor to be thusly elevated). She herself gets an unwanted admirer later on, so full of himself he actually believes he can seduce her into marrying him and inheriting the [[spoiler:Sorcerous Kingdom]].
** Shalltear (a vampire) was programmed as a necrophile who happens to think PowerIsSexy in the worst way.
** When negotiating for the return of the Lizardmen killed as part of his demonstration of power, Crusch Lulu asks if Ainz wants her body. Ainz quickly clarifies he wants her to act a as MoleInCharge, oblivious to the sudden teeth-grinding and furious auras erupting from Albedo and Shalltear.
** Evileye was rescued by Ainz' warrior disguise Momon. Thankfully, neither Albedo nor Shalltear know about it, because while they're in agreement that Ainz is indeed everything a young maiden's dreams are made of, none will relinquish the proud title of TopWife, especially to an outsider.
** [[EntertaininglyWrong Outside observers help to muddle the situation even further]] by thinking Ainz and Nabe (one of Nazarick's battle maids) are a couple, or identifying Albedo as Nazarick's queen, or Shalltear as the concubine who keeps Nazarick running in Ainz' absence.
** Neuronist Painkiller, the monstrous TortureTechnician of Nazarick, turns out to have the hots for Ainz as well, though fortunately he's unaware of this.
** Even Solution gets in on the act by getting jealous of the slime Ainz uses to degrime his skeleton and asking to be used instead.
** Neia and Renner seem exempt from this: once Ainz [[spoiler:resurrects her]], Neia gets a bad case of HeroWorship that leads to her spreading a cult that takes Ainz's accidental "strength above morality" speech to heart, while Renner is a {{Yandere}} whose only love is Climb (one of the funniest moments in the LightNovel is Renner and Albedo talking about their respective crushes like teenaged girls).
* [[ChickMagnet Gilbert Nightray]] from ''Manga/PandoraHearts'' has one of these. He hates how noblewomen are always fawning over him. [[SingleTargetSexuality He's too busy fawning over his master Oz to deal with that!]]
* Peter from ''Manga/PeterGrillAndThePhilosophersTime'' has an increasing number of {{Cute Monster Girl}}s after him. Unfortunately, in this case the harem really ''is'' unwanted; the only girl Peter really wants to be with is his longtime sweetheart Luvelia, but she's incredibly ignorant about sex and thus he can't consummate his relationship with her. The other girls are mainly after Peter [[DarwinistDesire so he can give them strong children]], and they constantly blackmail him and churn his libido to get him to have sex with them.
* ''Manga/PlaceToPlace'': Io has one, although, being ObliviousToLove, he doesn't notice that he has one.
* ''Manga/{{Pretear}}'': ''MagicalGirlWarrior'' Himeno has an unwanted harem of {{Bishonen}}. [[spoiler:She chooses the TallDarkAndSnarky Hayate.]]
%%** ''PrincessLucia''.
* ''Manga/PuriPuri''. It's unwanted because protagonist Masato wants to enter the priesthood, and priests are supposed to be chaste - if only he wasn't in a [[OneGenderSchool all-female divinity school]]...
* Creator/RumikoTakahashi has such harems in many of her works:
** ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'':
*** It's the TropeNamer, but it's an UnbuiltTrope due to predating modern harem anime and more fitting a LoveDodecahedron; Ranma's status as a ChickMagnet is generally not much more than an annoyance to him. Though he's not enough of a cad to abuse the situation, it soothes his [[TestosteronePoisoning manly]] {{Pride}} -- badly battered by his AttractiveBentGender curse. And though all the girls involved adore him, they're also rather exasperated by his [[CanNotSpitItOut wishy-washy]] attitude. It should be no surprise that the end-of-series [[spoiler:attempted marriage]] ended in a [[spoiler:BlastOut]].
*** Subverted during the Reversal Jewel arc when Shampoo, under the jewel's effect, attempts to leave the harem, Ranma rather insistently runs after her to get it back, at first because of her abrupt change of temperament than due to his ego rather than true feelings. Lampshaded by Cologne when she notes that he got so used to Shampoo chasing him, he ''had'' to find out why she stopped.
*** Taken UpToEleven in Episode 4 of Season 2 where it's indicated (by way of FlashBack) there are at ''least'' two girls whose fathers Genma promised Ranma to long before he is even introduced to the rest of the cast. Ranma [[LampshadeHanging Lampshades]] this by asking 'How many more fiances do I have, anyway?' at the end of the episode.
*** Akane. Especially at the beginning of the series where every morning before school she has to fight her way past a bunch of guys who think that if they beat her then she has to go out with them.
** ''Manga/MaisonIkkoku'': Has one centered around [[UnluckyEverydude Godai]]. [[TheCutie Kozue]] and [[TeacherStudentRomance Ibuki]] definitely want to jump his bones and even [[TheGadfly Akemi]] has hinted at an interest (although with her it can be hard to tell if she is serious). The only one he actually wants is [[RomancingTheWidow Kyoko]].
* ''Manga/RappiRangai''. Raizou. No matter how many times he leaves the smitten princesses in the dust.
* Ray of ''Anime/RayTheAnimation'' has one.
* In ''Manga/Reborn2004'', way back in the beginning of the series, remember all the fangirls in the school dying to give Gokudera and Yamamoto chocolates? Gokudera, of course, considered it an example of this, and told them to "Stop following [him] around!" The series itself has been often interpreted as "The Adventures of a badass {{Uke}} mafia-boss-in-training and his Unwanted Harem of {{Bishonen}}!"
* Tsukune of ''Manga/RosarioPlusVampire'' (pictured) accidentally enrolls in a monster school and acquires -- mostly through [[DefeatMeansFriendship conquest]] -- a vampire, a succubus, two witches, and a snow woman. A [[MarryThemAll Tenchi Solution]] is ruled right out, due to the harem's tendency to spontaneously break out into superpowered free-for-alls both over and ''against'' him during bouts of jealousy, though the loli witch ''does'' repeatedly ask for a threesome [[LesYay with the vampire]]. Even harem aside, their unique... quirks... would make a relationship with any rather hazardous (though Ruby is a pretty safe option, if you WhipItGood like Tsukune). Don't forget when a guy comes in to recruit Tsukune for the monster mafia. He suggests he can just bring all the girls with him, [[MarryThemAll using polygamy to solve the problem]]. The OfficialCouple disagrees...but everyone else thinks its a great idea. Then the vampire half of the OfficialCouple [[TalkToTheFist disagrees again, by knocking everyone else unconcious]]. Notable in that Tsukune's already [[OfficialCouple clearly picked his favorite]], which the others notice.
** Some later issues deconstruct the trope by showing emotional effects on the girls who know they have [[FirstGirlWins already lost out to Moka]] but are still hopelessly in love with Tsukune, in more realistic, non-comedic, non-IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy ways rather than a typical use of the trope. Kurumu in particular has had a few heartbreaking scenes of unrequited love [[spoiler:and it's been all but stated that, [[HornyDevils being a succubus]], not being loved back can potentially have ''[[DeathByDespair fatal]]'' [[DeathByDespair consequences for her]].]] To make things more complicated, initially Tsukune is in love with ''one'' of the heroine's [[SplitPersonality split personalities]] -- the other one just kind of scares him. Even worse, the girl he loves [[spoiler:isn't even real, but an artificial persona based on the heroine's ''mother'' created by her rosary to protect the "real" girl]]. Tsukune later confesses to loving '''both''' Mokas, each in their own way, possibly due to the prolonged amount of time he spent with the "Inner" Moka in the second season. And "Outer" Moka approves of this (reluctantly in the anime), encouraging "Inner" Moka to accept her feelings for Tsukune. [[spoiler:In the end, the "Outer" Moka seemingly dies, but the epilogue reveals that she was actually [[SplitPersonalityMerge absorbed into "Inner" Moka]] who gradually started to show some of "Outer's" traits...which is less obvious than might be expected since it overlapped with "Inner's" own [[DefrostingIceQueen defrosting]].]]
* Otaru of ''Anime/SaberMarionetteJ'' has three marionettes and [[EvenTheGuysWantHim one guy]] after him.
* Happens to Muneakira in ''LightNovel/SamuraiGirls''. He gradually acquires more women as the series goes on, whether he wants to or not.
* In ''Manga/SayonaraFootball'', all of Nozomi's childhood friends have a crush on her, although she is unaware of this.
* ''Manga/SayonaraZetsubouSensei'' has this with how the girls randomly fall in love with the teacher Itoshiki, when he promises to "take them with him" when he commits suicide. Unfortunately for Sensei, most of the characters fall square in the {{Yandere}} type...
* ''VisualNovel/SchoolDays'': It seems like the average unwanted HaremSeries at first, where the main character has an {{Ojou}} (Kotonoha), a {{Shorttank}} (Sekai), a TokenMiniMoe (Setsuna - [[OlderThanTheyLook in looks]], anyway), an AlphaBitch who doubles as the UnluckyChildhoodFriend (Otome), a GirlNextDoor with AnimeHair (Hikari), and the AlphaBitch[='=]s GirlPosse (Natsumi, Kumi and Minami) after him. Makoto, however, has become known as one of the biggest jerks of any male lead in the history of Unwanted Harem stories, starting off more or less okay but soon beginning to screw any girl he can get and, unlike most of the above anime and mangas, the audience witnesses [[FromBadToWorse several and VERY serious consequences that take place]]. [[SerialEscalation And then go beyond it.]]
** It can be played straighter in the original VisualNovel, however the player must "play" his/her cards VERY well for that to happen.
* ''Manga/SeitokaiYakuindomo'' - Takatoshi is just attending the only-just-recently co-ed school because it's closest to his home, yet the girls are convinced he's there to get a harem. And he does: It's confirmed that [[TheIngenue Mitsuba]], [[StudentCouncilPresident Shino]], and [[TeenGenius Suzu]] have crushes on him; [[{{Ephebophile}} Yokoshima-sensei]] wants to ''rape'' him; [[DoesNotLikeMen Kaede]] ''may'' have developed a crush on him; and [[{{Ojou}} Aria]] and [[BigBrotherAttraction Kotomi]] sometimes act like TheTease around him. Later on [[{{Meganekko}} Todoroki]] is added into the mix and [[DropInCharacter Uomi]] becomes his in-law and uses it as an excuse to get closer to him.
* Sahashi Minato of ''Manga/{{Sekirei}}'' unknowingly/unwillingly becomes an Ashikabi and starts what can only be described as a BattleHarem after one act of kindness, and proceedes to add two more girls to his harem, largely unwillingly (they surprised him with a kiss). Then it is subverted, as he actively pursues his next member, at his Sekirei's encouragement, directly asks if the next one wants to join (she does) [[spoiler:and then finally chases down another.]]
* ''Manga/SgtFrog'': To date, [[ChasteHero Fuyuki]] has drawn the attention and affection of Momoka, Chiruyo, Alisa Southerncross, and [[spoiler:the unnamed mermaid of the undersea Nontolma civilisation.]]
** Don't forget Keroro's which includes Tamama, Mois, Pururu and in one episode Karara (in that episode they're all seen together, it doesn't go very well). It's also possibly included a girl who likes gunpla and Sumomo (only in the manga)
** In the manga, there's also a female manga club member (who, although seemingly unnamed, was a minor recurring character) and Haruyo, a girl who befriended Sumomo.
* [[NobleDemon The main character]] of ''Manga/ShinaDark'', aka. Satan Exoda, has a thousand females sent as a sacrifice [[note]] The term "women" isn't used because there are even some pre-pubescent girls amidst the lot[[/note]], to discourage him from destroying the world. They were sent because of [[MaliciousSlander a newly-added clause in the book of legends, which described his supposed pervertedness]], and all he wants is to be left alone. [[PlayedForDrama Seeing as none of them can return home after being sent to the island of Satan]] (because others think that they now carry his children), they have no way but to live on his island, and [[PlayedForLaughs weird things happen]].
* In ''Shojokyuu Kurige no Shiofuki Shoujotachi'', Akiho, Chinatsu, and Yuki all harbor feelings for Haruna.
* ''Manga/ShugoChara'', wherein the main character, Hinamori Amu, has her choice of Hotori Tadase, Tsukiyomi Ikuto, Soma Kuukai, Sanjo Kairi, or Fujisaki Nagihiko. The manga and anime both had pretty open endings, so there's not much evidence to say this is who she chose.
* In ''Manga/SteelAngelKurumi'', Nakahito becomes the target of Kurumi, Karinka and Koganei's affections.
** Nako, the heroine of the sequel ''Anime/SteelAngelKurumi2'', has an entirely female harem composed of Uruka, Kurumi and Karinka.
* Nagisa from ''LightNovel/StrawberryPanic'' has her share of unwanted admirers. Since she lives at the dorms of an all-girl high school, you know what that means. Hikari also boasts her fair share of unwanted admirers, making ''LightNovel/StrawberryPanic'' a series that has two sets of unwanted harems.
* ''LightNovel/StrikeTheBlood'': Protagonist Kojou Akatsuki has amassed a harem that includes two {{Action Girl}}s [[InLoveWithTheMark who were sent to hunt him down but fell in love with him]], a [[GratuitousPrincess princess]], [[OurAngelsAreDifferent an angel]], and two ChildhoodFriends [[ChildhoodFriendRomance who want want more]]. As a vampire, Kojou’s powers work when he drinks other people’s blood, something he is unwilling to do until the girls convice him to drink theirs. And since vampire bites are used as [[KissOfTheVampire as a sex metaphor]], they tend to be romantic scenes. In the end he [[MarryThemAll with him marrying his 12 girls with him acknowleging their marriage with 5 of the girls (yukina Himeragi, shio hikawa, yuiri haba, and kiriha kisaki)]]
* ''Anime/SwordArtOnline'' has Kirito, who, even though [[OfficialCouple he is happily dating Asuna]], has a number of female admirers. This is played up in the video game spinoffs ''Infinity Moment'' and ''Hollow Fragment'', in which his affections are doggedly pursued by every woman he meets, including [[ClingyJealousGirl Lisbeth]], [[TokenMiniMoe Silica]], [[KissingCousins Leafa]], [[TheGadfly Strea]], and [[SugarAndIcePersonality Sinon]].
* The best known example of the Unwanted Harem and the OG is seen in the various versions of ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'' (Especially the one where the girls use AppliedPhlebotinum to turn his bathroom into a literal harem.) Some consider it the TropeCodifier. ''Anime/TenchiInTokyo'' is probably the best example of this involving the ''Tenchi'' franchise as everyone's affections for him is turned UpToEleven.
* The three main heroines in ''LightNovel/TheTestamentOfSisterNewDevil'' seem to have some interest in Basara, the protagonist.
* ''Manga/TokyoMewMew'', sort of (and gender-reversed). Ichigo, whose official love interest is the NonActionGuy (who has ''his own'' harem of fangirls), has to deal with a bunch of other guys having feelings for her -- Ryou Shirogane (MissionControl), Quiche (VillainousCrush) and the Blue Knight (MysteriousProtector). [[spoiler:It doesn't help that the latter turned out to be said NonActionGuy.]]
* ''Manga/ToLoveRu'' is '''THE''' shining example of this trope. Well for starters, Rito didn't ''ASK'' for a hot naked alien princess to teleport into of all places ''his bathtub while he was using it!'' (along with the subsequent AccidentalMarriage!) All he wanted to do was keep trying to confess to the girl of his dreams! Nor did the poor sap ask for ''at least'' three to four different cock teases who have all but flat out asked/begged Rito to bang them, a {{Tsundere}} who secretly likes him and ''also'' wants the D (supposedly at least), despite acting like Rito is a sick pervert (though its not always ''his'' fault perverted shit keeps happening to him), two different assassins; one who ''will'' murder him if he so much as looks at her funny; and one who's intent on making Rito her ''servant'' (read SexSlave), and that is probably only scratching the surface!
** As of ''Darkness'', roughly 10 girls all have varying degrees of interest in him and there are even a few who could potentially become part of the harem. [[spoiler:In the end of the series, the unwanted part is played straight; Rito claims that Haruna is his number 1 and he rejects the idea of an harem (so does Haruna). However, because the finale is ambiguous, the girls are still vying for his affection and it is unknown if he will change his mind.]]
* Kaneki/Sasaki is so badass, good looking, and a NiceGuy that he attracts several admirers both [[EvenTheGuysWantHim male and female]] in ''Manga/TokyoGhoul''. Roma is a LoonyFan with an implied VillainousCrush towards him, [[DepravedHomosexual Nico]] hits on him and finds him attractive, Eto has a VillainousCrush on him, Rize was attracted to him [[LoveAtFirstSight as soon as she laid eyes on him]], and Tsukiyama is [[HoYay fascinated with him]]. There's also Touka's implied tsundere feelings and Mutsuki's romantic obsession towards him being revealed in chapter 114. The only one Kaneki seems to reciprocate would be [[{{Tsundere}} Touka]].
* Mostly subverted in ''Manga/TonaGura''. Only three main characters (Kazuki, Chihaya and Nina) have even directly stated an interest in Yuuji. One is resistant to openly stating it, one is mainly teasing her best friend, and one is underaged to the point Yuuji does not consider her even a remote possibility. Marie may have an arguable brother complex. Hatsune seems to think of him more as a brother, and possible future brother-in-law. A new character in the manga is [[spoiler:Haya, a bespectacled photography assistant to the Kagura siblings' absent father. She is a bag of nerves and backhanded comments that usually deflate Yuuji to the point even Kazuki defends him. At work, she is a ridiculously stern taskmaster.]] She is, despite being hard on him, deeply grateful to Yuuji for his assistance.
* In ''Webcomic/TowerOfGod'', Bam has the TomboyPrincess Yuri Jahad, the EmpathicWeapon Black March, and the cynical princess Endorsi Jahad in his harem. He doesn't care about that, though, since he is focused on finding Rachel.
** In the second volume, the Guide Hwaryun might count, and the down-on-her-luck noblewoman Yeon definitely does. She offers him her body in exchange for helping her out of a bind (he ended up helping her mostly by accident), and is quite flustered about it until she realizes he's a girl. [[DudeLooksLikeALady Except he's not]], as she finds out later.
* ''Anime/TransformersSuperGodMasterforce'' has a gender-flipped and G-rated version -- each of the boys has a crush on Minerva. Minerva herself just seems to think they're being childish.
%%* ''TubameSyndrome''.
* ''Manga/UFOPrincessValkyrie'' is this, in the classic line of ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'' Alien princess crash-lands into a bath house, severely injuring the (young {{bishounen}}) owner in the process. Princess ends up indebted to him and stays on earth, several of her alien sisters (and her head maid) follow. HilarityEnsues.
* ''LightNovel/UndefeatedBahamutChronicle'': [[TheHero Lux Arcadia]] earns the affections of five different girls; all of them {{Action Girl}}s equipped with PoweredArmor and hailing from noble families. While Lux is not entirely opposed to the idea of romance, he feels he should focus on providing for his little sister, [[IncestSubtext who is implied to see Lux as more than just a brother.]] Not helping matters is that the teacher’s headmistress and Lux’s fellow students enjoy playing matchmaker between him and the girls.
* In ''Manga/UQHolder'', Touta has gained the affection of Kirie, Shinobu and Mizore, as well as dubious feelings from Yukihime, Kuromaru and Karin.
* ''Manga/ValXLove'': Justified; Takuma's biggest fear is basically (any) human contact, but the Allfather, Odin, basically dropped his nine Valkyries off for him specifically to be the harem lead. Interestingly, not all of the Valkyries are even interested initially - Brynhildr in particular hates his guts for it.
* Hibiki ends up with one in ''Anime/{{Vandread}}''. Naturally, since he's a member of a OneGenderRace, he has absolutely [[ObliviousToLove no knowledge of love whatsoever]].
* [[UsefulNotes/{{Transgender}} Nitori]] from ''Manga/WanderingSon'' has a harem of sorts, both with girls and boys, though it comes off as a {{Deconstruction}} of a harem. So far Chiba has liked her, she's had a ''very'' close friendship with Takatsuki (who Nitori says she had a onesided crush on at one time), Doi is unusually into her, Seya fell for her, her friend Mako has a crush on her, and she has an (ex?) girlfriend called Anna who still likes her from the looks of it. She doesn't seem to really like the attention.
* ''Manga/TheWorldGodOnlyKnows'' is a rare example of the lead character ''working'' for his harem. It's still unwanted though: he's only doing it because he has an ExplosiveLeash forcing him to. Also, said harem technically ''does not exist'' due to a LaserGuidedAmnesia effect. Although they still remember him subconsciously, they do not actively pursue him and may be followed up with someone else. In any case the male lead is pretty much free to do as he pleases... unless his childhood friend approaches.
** Later it turns out some of them do remember him, and not only are they still interested, they actively need his affection to help save the world. And he is still as uninterested.
* ''Franchise/YuGiOh'':
** In the first arc of the final season of ''Anime/YuGiOh'', Yugi has this. His attention is sought after by Vivian Wong, Rebecca Hawkins, and Anzu Mazaki. He seems to be aware of this, but just acts embarrassed whenever it comes up. Tristan and Joey seem perplexed and jealous.
*** Yugi had it easy compared to Bakura in the [[Manga/YuGiOh manga]] and the [[Anime/YuGiOhFirstAnimeSeries Toei anime]]. When he first came to Domino High, ''every girl in the classroom'' (except for Anzu of course) surrounded him. It's implied that this happened to Bakura before, because he seems to dislike all of the attention he gets. And Jonouchi sure is jealous as always.
** In ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds'', Jack Atlas has a small case of this; there are three girls competing for his attention by the second season: Mikage, Carly, and Stephanie. [[spoiler:Eventually, he takes the LetsJustBeFriends option—or as close to it as someone like him can get—as he was never really interested, letting them down gently.]]
** In ''Anime/YuGiOhZEXAL'', Yuma seems to have this problem with [[PatientChildhoodLoveInterest Kotori]], [[ShrinkingViolet Ca]][[CatGirl thy]], ''and'' [[{{Tsundere}} Anna]] (OreOnna with a {{BFG}}), but while he doesn't mind their attention, he seems ''completely'' oblivious to their true feelings towards him. [[spoiler:In the final episode, Kotori finally confesses her feelings, but his reaction is ambiguous and his attention is mainly on Astral.]]
** While Yuya in ''Anime/YuGiOhArcV'' is largely ObliviousToLove despite having [[ClingyJealousGirl Yuzu]], [[SelfProclaimedLoveInterest Mieru]] and [[HeelFaceTurn Grace]] after him, he's forced to take notice of Mieru's feelings solely because she's the most overt about them, calling him her 'darling' and wanting to bear his children (bear in mind that he's fourteen and she seems even younger). As if her unwanted affection wasn't enough, [[GreenEyedMonster Yuzu]] also slaps him each time it happens in front of her despite him not initiating it or even being aware of Yuzu's feelings for him, let alone returning them or being in a relationship with her.
* Subverted in ''Manga/YuushaGojoKumiaiKouryuugataKeijiban'': when the hero in distress first reveals their situation (in a party consisting of four beautiful women), the rest of the forum drowns them in contemptuous sarcasm. Then the hero explains that the pairs of girls mutually hate each other for political-religious reasons, and the only thing they agree on is to hate the hero for being a commoner. The forumites apologize for their earlier behavior... then the hero reveals she's a straight girl, and the forum immediately help her evacuate.
* In ''Manga/ZombieLoan'', Michiru has Shito, Chika, Zen, Yomi and a bit of ShipTease with Shiba. It's not so much "unwanted" as "unnoticed", however.
* In ''Anime/GundamBuildFightersTry'', Sekai has to deal with the affections of his teammate Fumina and Gunpla Battle rivals Gyanko and Shia. A lot of this bit is due to being ObliviousToLove and the latter two enjoying teasing the hell out of Fumina
* ''Manga/MyCheatSkillResurrectionRevivedMe'' has the main character Licht, on the run from the kingdom where he was unjustly marked for execution, head into a vacant dungeon, desperate for allies, he uses his [Resurrection] skill and finds himself TheOneGuy in the retinue of Demon Lord Aria. He soon after gets tasked with resurrecting the necromancer Dorothy, who was apparently executed under similar circumstances, ie having a "dangerous" skill, or so taunts Allen, Licht's former party member, and said necromancer also turns out to be an attractive woman. As of the most current chapter, there isn't any romance ... '''Yet''', although all of the women are genuinely grateful he brought them back to life, and he treats them with respect.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* ''Fanfic/{{Archetypal}}'': Lincoln makes it clear that the last thing he wants right now is a harem, no matter what his Archetype (which is literally called "Harem King") says otherwise. Unfortunately, the universe seems to have a different idea...
* ''Fanfic/ACrownOfStars'': Kensuke spent several weeks complaining about being single and envying his two best friends -Shinji and Touji- because they had hooked up with someone else. Then two girls came along and started to chase after him, and he is completely terrified of them.
* ''Fanfic/AdviceAndTrust'': Shinji's all female classmates (Chiriko, Megumi...) are chasing after him. However he only wants Asuka. Unfortunately he and Asuka can not tell they are together (since Nerv could try to separate them), so that Shinji resorts to run away from those girls as Asuka and Rei team up to scare his would-be suitors and drive them away.
** Ironically, Rei is the only member of Shinji's unwanted harem that Shinji and Asuka would be willing to accept, but she will not try to seduce him precisely because she loves both and she refused to disrupt their bond.
* ''Fanfic/ANewRoadOfMisfortune'': It is implied by the author that Touma may be hiding his true colors from the people he knows. He gets into trouble several times do to one of the girls interested in him. Maybe the fact that he is a lot more nervous than in canon is due to the unwanted attention he attracts from the opposite sex. So far he seems to be dense, so only time will tell if this part of his personality is true.
* John, protagonist of the Russian ''Literature/{{Worm}}'' fanfic ''[[http://samlib.ru/s/sejtimbetow_samat_ajdosowich/worm_fic6.shtml/ Be a hero]]'', due to the fact that his abilities are focused on the almost zombie-like subordination of women with superpower. This also turns them into yanderes who want to protect the protagonist from the world at almost any cost, and they are fighting hard for a place in his harem. The situation is aggravated by the fact that submission cannot be removed, because of this the hero suffers from his harem in moral terms.
* ''Fanfic/BequeathedFromPaleEstates'': Once he's of age and starts taking on more responsibilities, ''every single marriageable woman in the North'' starts throwing themselves at poor Robb Stark. Robb hates it because A) he can only marry one of them, B) many of them don't care about ''him'' so much as being the next Lady of Winterfell, and C) [[NoGuyWantsToBeChased many are so aggressive in their pursuit of him that they're willing to violate his privacy and/or borderline terrorize him]]. [[spoiler:Understandably, Robb quickly falls for Aislinn Forrester because, despite liking him, she actively chose ''not'' to pursue him]].
* In ''Fanfic/TheChangelingOfTheGuard'', rogue changeling Idol Hooves manages to attract the romantic attentions of his landlady Topaz, the thestral Mothchaser, and even Maud Pie (although she claims that she's only interested in him as a pen pal).
* Part of the premise of ''Fanfic/TheFledglingYear'' is that Archenland’s crown prince must travel the country to find girls suitable as potential brides, eventually bringing them back to Anvard to be reviewed by the royal advisory council. Prince Cor is not exactly thrilled with this prospect, and often it falls to his [[VitriolicBestBuds best friend]]/actual future LoveInterest Aravis to coax him into bringing promising girls they meet along with them. WordOfGod has promised that Cor/Aravis are the eventual OfficialCouple, and only briefly do any of the harem play a role as a RomanticFalseLead, but they do serve an important function of the plot—thus far, one has turned out to be an {{assassin}} that helped reveal TheConspiracy, and another is making the fangirls {{squee}} as she’s formed one half of a BetaCouple.
* Exactly fits with Avarian from ''Fanfic/GodOfDeath'' (Warhammer-Warcraft crossover), a Space Marine (with a Space Marine character) who picked up a nightelf, a bloodelf, a highelf, two human females and even a forsaken (undead) elf, almost all bearing romantic feelings towards him, without Avarian noticing ANYTHING (being a Space Marine, he just picked them up because he thought they would be useful on his quest, he himself is totally unaware of the emotion called 'love' and, much unlike his companions think, does not bear the 'male weak-minded crave-for-female-flesh'-lust) This is going to be fun.
* Parodied in ''Fanfic/HarryPotterAndTheSomethingSomething''. Due to Harry having four different marriage contracts[[note]]One that was signed by Sirius, one by his father, one by his mother, and a fourth by Dumbledore. The first three were drunk at the time. The fourth is doing it for the Greater Good or something[[/note]], he ends up with four wives; Alicia Spinnett of Gryffindor, Marietta Edgecomb of Ravenclaw, Su Li of Hufflepuff, and Blaise Zabini of Slytherin, who Dumbledore keeps insisting is a girl despite his protests and all evidence to the contrary. About the only one who isn't completely against it is Alicia, who's on the fence due to Harry being hot. And maybe Su Li. [[spoiler:They all completely object to it when they find out Dumbledore had tampered with the butterbeers they'd been drinking to make them pregnant with Harry's children. [[MisterSeahorse Including Zabini]], who drank three and gets to have triplets]].
* ''Fanfic/{{HERZ}}'': Shinji is a chick magnet but he does not really want any woman other than Asuka. In chapter 3 Kurumi tries to get close to him, and when Shinji shies away, she asks:
-->'''Kurumi''':''"Oh, what gives? Don't you like women hurling themselves at you?"''
* ''Fanfic/TheHopeOfTheSenjuClan''. Tsunade's son, Naruto has the misfortune of having a fan club in Konoha who want to continue the Senju clan and other girls who are [[InLoveWithYourCarnage have seen him fight and think he's a badass]] who always have him in a LoverTugOfWar much to his dismay. Naruto is oblivious to the harem of girls he might actually consider dating (Shion, Rurichiyo, Hinata).
* ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7346139/1/Ignorance-is-Bliss Ignorance is Bliss]]'', a ''Manga/BlueExorcist'' fanfic, focuses on an ''completely unknown'' Unwanted Harem. Unknown because Yukio and the other Exorcists utterly '''refuse''' to let Rin find out. Considering all of the Harem is made up of crazy, ugly demon ''fangirls'', it's probably a good thing.
* ''Fanfic/InFlight'': AND HOW! Lets break it down. In Flight is a crossover between Sekerei and Fate/Stay Night. You see where this is going? Shirou has Rin and Saber who he has been going steady with for 2 years now back in London. Akitsu joins and quickly develops radical levels of devotion to him. Then Musubi, Then Matsu, then Tsukiumi. On top of this if the author continues as he has been there will be Kazehana still to come. On top of THIS it is possible that Yukari is also interested. Added up to the fact that none of them have any idea as to his status as a Mage or the nature of Saber and Rin, regarding them as a old pair of exes that he broke up with. In short Shirou has got himself into an inescapable position. At this point in the fic there is no way out without breaking somebody's heart.
** [[MarryThemAll Not necessarily.]]
** As of the DistantFinale, his harem consists of Akitsu, [[PseudoRomanticFriendship Musubi, Tsuikiumi]], Matsu, [[spoiler:[[AttractiveBentGender Homura]], [[LoveFreak Kazehana]], [[JailBaitWait Kuu]], and [[InLoveWithYourCarnage Karasuba]], also with the implication that [[TeacherStudentRomance Miya]], Uzume and Chiyo, and [[SexWithTheEx Saber and Rin]] are also tentatively involved in some capacity]], bringing his total to thirteen. It's a good thing most of them are willing to double up.
* John temporarily acquires one of these (and the harem includes men) in ''Fanfic/TheKeysStandAlone: The Soft World'', when he takes his cloak off at the Border Crossroads Inn. Once upon a time he would have wanted them (well, the women), but [[WingedHumanoid not after his transformation]], since he is [[BlessedWithSuck now no longer attracted to human women]].
* {{Deconstructed}} in ''Fanfic/TheLostKing''. King Garon is surrounded by many, many women who lust over him and desire to be with him...to the extent they [[DecadentCourt have begun blackmailing, sabotaging, bullying and outright murdering]] each other to remove the competition. He is understandably horrified by and tired of this, but no matter what he does can't get rid of them for [[SlaveToPR political reasons]]. Gradually the infighting extends to start claiming people he genuinely loves, such as his wife and children, and he's helpless to do anything but watch.
* Jaune Arc becomes this in a lot of ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' fanfics. Prominent ones include ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9721717/1/Massages Massages]]'', where through his skill with massages, he gets the affections of Yang, Blake, Pyrrha, Weiss, Ruby, Velvet, and Glynda. He finds this very uncomfortable, especially since the boys get jealous and try to beat him up. Another is [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10350305/1/Our-Beloved-Musician Our Beloved Musician]], where this time it's music skills. And everyone of Team RWBY, Pyrrha, Velvet and an OC Team all fall for him.
** In ''Fanfic/TheReactsverse'' fanfic ''Fanfic/WeissReacts'' set in ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'', Jaune's harem consists of Pyrrha, [[VideoGame/Persona3 Minako]], Weiss and her sister Winter. He also has ShipTease with Miltiades, Yang, Blake, Weiss' other sister, OriginalCharacter Elsa, and, Ren.
** ''Fanfic/WhiteSheepRWBY'':
*** Jaune is the object of affection for Ruby, Pyrrha, Yang, and Velvet. He doesn't even notice. Cinder is a {{Tsundere}} ClingyJealousGirl but it's ''probably'' platonic. Blake has some attraction to his Grimm form (or more specifically, [[NaughtyTentacles the tentacles]]), but it doesn't go anywhere. Emerald also briefly claims to be in his "harem" when she realizes it's the only thing keeping his sister Sapphire from killing her. Weiss is one of the only girls who doesn't have any romantic interest in him at all, so of course she's the one he ends up in a FakeRelationship with.
*** Ren as well. Nora of course constantly tries to get him to notice her feelings, but there's also Jaune's sister Lavender, some repeated NotWhatItLooksLike moments with Blake, and even the High Leader of the White Fang Sienna Khan. Like Jaune, he never notices.
*** Blake ends up with Sun and Ilia following her around for the latter half of the story. She ''does'' notice, but puts up with it because they're helpful.
* Towards the [[OrphanedSeries "unfortunate" end]] of the original story of ''Fanfic/TheNightUnfurls'', [[CelibateHero Kyril]] has at least 4 women of high status who either has a crush on him, or is actively seeking for his affections. Soren has [[LampshadeHanging joked that]], had Kyril knew that he would "end up with a string of women in front of his door", he would definitely get an aneurysm. Justified, as he is a brutal hunter from Yharnam, [[spoiler:as well as a [[EldritchAbomination great one]]]].
* Subverted in the ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'' fanfic ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5955294/1/The-Ultimate-Mate-Hunt The Ultimate Mate Hunt]]''. While Starscream is initially unhappy at being the target of affection from Megatron, Optimus, Soundwave and Skyfire, his mindset changes to MarryThemAll when he realizes that the CNA of the four of them and himself would create an extremely powerful sparkling.
* ''Fanfic/TheUnexpectedLoveLifeOfDuskShine'' tries to impart the harem manga genre on ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' by retelling the episodes with Dusk Shine (Twilight Sparkle's opposite-gender counterpart as established by fanon) as the main character while leaving the other characters gender-intact and ''mostly'' unchanged. So far Pinkie Pie wants to become OTP to get extra screentime (and suffering a breakdown after being friendzoned by mistake, resulting in Pinkamena taking over), Rarity wants him to be her prince, Applejack is convinced he's flirting with her, Fluttershy is strongly repressing her burning desire for him, and Rainbow Dash doesn't even seem capable of considering that he might not want to be her boytoy. Add to the mixture having Trixie as a live-in student trying to seduce him with a maid outfit and Luna referring to him as "the royal boyfriend", and he has the plate full. (Even Nightmare Moon had romantic designs for him.) Zecora even suggested that he try the [[MarryThemAll Tenchi Solution]], but he realized that would be even worse. And naturally Celestia has no intention of helping him out when making things worse is funnier.
* The protagonist obtaining an [[UpToEleven extremely over the top]] one of these is the entire premise behind the ''Anime/YokaiWatch'' fanfic: ''Fanfic/TheUnwantedHaremOfNathanAdams'', HilarityEnsues.
* The premise of the ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' fanfic ''Fanfic/WhenYouWishUponASue'' is that Spike the dragon felt unappreciated by his friends, and so he wishes that they will all like him. When he wakes up the next day Spike is transformed into an adult dragon that is adored by everyone who sees him; the magic behind the wish made Spike into such a beautiful dragon that everyone he meets falls hopelessly in love with his beauty and can do nothing but gush over him. His best friends even get into a confrontation at one point over which one of them deserves to be Spike's girlfriend. Naturally you get the impression that while Spike wanted to be appreciated he didn't want women (and even a few men) throwing themselves at him.
* Happens to the OC in ''Fanfic/ZuluSquadNoTsukaima'', a ''VideoGame/SpecOpsTheLine''/''LightNovel/TheFamiliarOfZero'' crossover when he [[spoiler:gets turned into a {{bishonen}} teenager.]] Gets cranked {{up to eleven}} when said harem [[spoiler:drinks the love potion.]] Hilarity ensues.

[[folder:Literature]]
* ''Literature/HarryPotter'':
** Harry ends up with a large number of admirers in the sixth book in the series. He also suffers from this trope in the fourth book, due to his status as a Tri-Wizard champion.
** Viktor Krum also has quite a few admirers -- both because he is his school's champion in the Tri-Wizard tournament and an internationally famous quidditch seeker.
** Hell, Fleur Delacour ends up with a large number of admirers, legacy of her Veela heritage. [[PrettyBoy Cedric Diggory]] is stated to get about as much attention as Krum during book four.
* ''Literature/ASongOFIceAndFire'':
** Princess Daenerys Targaryen has one of these, though it's mostly by the power vested in her by [[spoiler:her dragons]]. Of course, being [[HeadTurningBeauty preternaturally gorgeous]] makes for a long conga line of pretenders who are certainly not charmers (she is usually proposed for sex, marriage, for ships/slaves/money, though she always declines). It includes Khal Drogo, her brother Viserys[[note]]*as it's a Targ custom to marry within one's immediate family[[/note]], Jorah Mormont, Pyat Pree[[note]]*who is more interested in the dragons[[/note]], Xaro Xhoan Daxos, Daario Naharis, Hizdahr Zo Loraq, [[spoiler:Quentyn Martell, Euron Greyjoy and a recently empowered and ultra-violent Victarion Greyjoy]]. It's worth mentioning that the last two haven't even laid their eyes in Daenerys before, which shows just how delectable she is.
** Prince Rhaeghar Targaryen, brother to Daenerys, was not short in lady pretenders before his marriage, [[spoiler:but his eloping with the Lady he shouldn't have eloped with led to a huge civil war, the near-destruction of his family and the end of the Targaryen kings.]]
** Sansa Stark has one in the form of Joffrey Baratheon, Sandor Clegane, Tyrion Lannister, Dontos Hollard and Petyr Baelish; the lesser of the evils is Dontos Hollard [[note]][[spoiler:who was actually under the payroll of Lord Baelish to woo Sansa]][[/note]], who is a drunken mess, maybe Clegane, who is a BloodKnight, and Tyrion, who wants the world for her, but cannot possibly amend what his family has done to her [[spoiler:father, mother, and oldest brother]]. It doesn't help that Sansa is attracted to the people that will simply not give her the time of day or are in a position that prevents them from reciprocating (like [[TransparentCloset Loras Tyrell]], [[HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday Renly Baratheon]] and [[CelibateHero Waymar Royce]]).
** Baelor I Targaryen "The Blessed," had a big relationship with the Faith of Seven. As such, he remained celibate for life by imprisoning his sister-wife Daena and his sisters Rhaena and Elaena to resist temptation. This caused so many problems that his refusal to touch his wife left him without heirs, bringing the worse people into the line of succession, and eventually causing a huge civil war in the long run that saw hostilities that lasted for more than half a century (the Blackfyre Rebellions).
* ''Literature/TheOdyssey'': Dozens of foreign nobles seek Penelope's hand in marriage after her husband is presumed dead. Penelope still holds out hope that her husband is alive, but she cannot outright refuse them, so she stalls for 20 years while they take up residence in her estate and mooch off of her. Odysseus famously returns and kills them all for their transgressions.
* Bella from ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' is a female example with a total of five guys in love with her, two of them supernatural. And she didn't have any boyfriends before moving to Forks. [[Creator/StephenieMeyer The author]] insists that this was based on her successful love life in college after she wasn't looked at twice in high school. In one quote, she mentioned that she was dating three guys at the same time (which none of them knew about).
* In the Creator/JaneMoore novel Literature/{{Fourplay}}, main character Jo ends up with four very different men staking their claim on her (one of whom happens to be her ex-husband).
* ''Literature/AnitaBlake'', the eponymous heroine of Laurell K. Hamilton's monster hunting series, although as the harem gets bigger it seems to be less and less unwanted. When it was just a vampire and a werewolf she was stressing over it.
* Sookie in ''Literature/TheSookieStackhouseMysteries'' has been romantically/sexually pursued by Bill, Sam, Eric, JB, Alcide, Calvin, and Quinn, at least. She is inexperienced with relationships, both sexually and socially, because her [[BlessedWithSuck telepathy]] means that any human she dates will drive her crazy due to unwanted eavesdropping. Combine this with supernatural politics and the rarity of telepaths, and her love life becomes quite unmanageable. As of ''All Together Dead'' she has dated four of them (one at a time) and her exes are still hovering hoping to kiss and make up. She has fairy blood, which for vampires (and maybe other supernaturals) is like cat nip. [[spoiler:''After Dead'' reveals that she eventually marries Sam the shape-shifter.]]
* In ''Literature/TheHouseOfNight'' series, heroine Zoey Redbird has three admirers/boyfriends: Heath, her human ex-boyfriend and quarterback of the football team, Erik Night, the hottest guy in the vampyre high school, and Loren Blake, a teacher and poet. Loren leaves the harem later on when [[spoiler:he's revealed to be evil and then dies]], only to be replaced by Stark.
* In ''Literature/InTheNetOfDreams'' various events result in Riplakish traveling alone with seven beautiful women. To be fair, only five of them are attracted to him at the time.
* In ''Literature/TheWheelOfTime'' series, each of the main three male characters (Rand, Mat and Perrin) all end up with multiple women pursuing them, sometimes even teaming up against the man.
** [[spoiler:Rand eventually confesses and ''simultaneously'' marries all three of his fangirls, who are luckily the best of friends/surrogate sisters to each other anyway.]]
** This also happens to a side character, Gaul, who wants one half of [[HeterosexualLifePartners a pair]], but has to marry them both thanks to the rules of his [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy culture]].
* Deconstructing the original ''Literature/{{Dracula}}'', Saberhagen's ''Literature/TheDraculaTape'' portrays the Count as being pestered by his trio of vampire brides. Their interminable nagging is implied to be one of the reasons he leaves Transylvania for England.
* Henry James' ''Literature/PortraitOfALady'': The lady in question, Isabel Archer, has quite the unwanted harem.
* In the Literature/NeroWolfe short story "Murder is Corny", Susan [=MacLeod=] is a young, naive, spectacularly beautiful country girl whose recent success as a model has given her an Unwanted Harem, one of whom is a particularly odious StalkerWithACrush. She can't quite figure out why guys keep proposing to her on the first date.
* In Creator/{{Saki}} (H.H Munro)'s play, ''TheWatchedPot'' (written in collaboration with Charles Maude), Trevor Bavvel, the local heir to the manor, is pursued by four different young women. In Saki's "The Elk," Bertie Thropplestance is in much the same position, pursued by every woman whom he rescues from the eponymous dangerous quadruped.
* ''Literature/TheDresdenFiles'' tend to lampshade the fact that Harry has a ton of attractive (and often supernaturally hot) women angling to get into his pants from time to time. These range from [[TeacherStudentRomance his apprentice]] to [[DivineDate Faerie]] [[DidYouJustRomanceCthulhu Queens]] to his [[ShipTease Police]] [[FairCop officer]] best friend and attractive reporter girlfriend. Being a semi-quasi-ChasteHero with abandonment issues who doesn't want to get involved without emotion backing it up, much of this attention (apart from that from said reporter girlfriend) is unwanted. A lot of the rest is unwanted because the lady in question is trying to bed him in order to enslave/devour/corrupt him or those close to him. Then there's the demons, the succubi (plural), and his [[spoiler:mind controlled]] boss. And that's the women. Yeah... he has a complicated love life. [[spoiler:The reporter girlfriend gets turned into a vampire in book three, and Harry eventually is forced to kill her as a HumanSacrifice to turn a blood curse against her Court of vampires and destroy it in ''Literature/{{Changes}}''. He and the cop, Karin Murphy, have a RelationshipUpgrade two books later.]]
* In the ''Franchise/{{Disgaea}}'' [[LightNovel/DisgaeaNovels novels]] [[Characters/DisgaeaHourOfDarkness Laharl]] gets a whole bunch of girls after him, including [[PromotedToLoveInterest Flonne and Etna]], Gordon and Jennifer’s daughter [[Characters/DisgaeaNovels Jane]] and Flonne’s little sister [[Characters/DisgaeaNovels Ozonne]], and ''more'', to [[AllergicToLove Laharl’s major dismay]].
* Derek of the web-novel ''Literature/{{Domina}}'' has at last count [[TheQuietOne Akane]], [[OccidentalOtaku Ling]], and maybe [[IceQueen Laura]] interested in him--that's three out of the five female characters. Lily claims [[CluelessChickMagnet he never notices]], mostly because [[SingleTargetSexuality he's only interested in Lizzy]]. [[AllLoveIsUnrequited She, in turn, doesn't notice]].
* Suleiman-bin-Daoud of the ''Literature/JustSoStories'' has ''nine hundred and ninety nine'' wives, not because he wants to, but because he has to have more wives than anyone else, since he's the king. He's not very happy about it.
* Miriam, the elder sister of Jonathan in ''Literature/TheRomanMysteries'', has one.
* Jacky in the ''Literature/BloodyJack'' series has quite the harem of guys. There's [[OfficialCouple her preferred love interest]] [[FirstGuyWins Jaimy]], [[ChivalrousPervert Chivalrous Perverts]] Randall Trevelyne and Richard Lord Allen, shipmate [[HandsomeLech Joseph Jared]], French spy Jean-Paul de Valdon, Spanish pirate [[LatinLover Flaco Jimenez]], New Orleans [[HookerWithAHeartOfGold hooker]] [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer Mam'selle Claudelle de Bourbon]], [[PirateGirl Chinese piratess]] [[HistoricalDomainCharacter Cheng Shih]], and a whole boatload of pervs. She tells all her "friends" that [[CatchPhrase she is promised to another]], but they never give up hope.
* In ''Literature/ABrothersPrice'', a man is expected to marry every sister in a family - and since they themselves are descended from a family of sisters, there are typically a lot of them. One of the viewpoint characters of the novel is Jerin, who is just reaching the age of marriage and is apprehensive; he wants a good family, and not to be wedded to the Brindles. There are ''thirty'' of them. Over the course of the book many more women want him married, and most of this attention is unwelcome. We see from the parts of the book seen through the princess Ren's view, though, that while some of it is due to GenderRarityValue and Jerin's beauty, a lot of this is political, and the backbone of the book is about intrigues.
* The furry sci-fi novel "[[Literature/ChildrenOfSteel Lead, Follow, or Suffer the Consequences]]'' has Koen getting one after liberating a prison camp consisting entirely of females. Granted he wanted it originally but when he realized many of them were going into heat he started making plans to free a predominantly male camp.
* In Creator/WSGilbert's poem "The Bumboat Woman's Story" Lt. Belaye, commander of a British gunship, discovers that his entire, unusually well-behaved crew is made up of young women, who dressed up like sailors to continue being around him.
* Anne Shirley of ''Literature/AnneOfGreenGables'' gets this as she grows older, fielding off around 5 marriage proposals by the 3rd book.
* Dorian Ursuul of Literature/TheNightAngelTrilogy, at first. [[spoiler:When he first becomes Godking, he only wants one woman, Jenine, but by the middle of the book, he's got a harem of round 80+ women, and he uses it regularly.]]
* Rose Hathaway in ''Literature/VampireAcademy''. By ''Last Sacrifice'', she has more guys casually, or not so casually, interested in her than the rest of the characters combined.
* In ''Literature/EightCousins'', Rose gains one consisting of her [[KissingCousins male cousins]].
* In ''Desirable'' by Frank Cottrell-Boyce, self-confessed social reject George is given a bottle of aftershave called 'Desirable', and soon all the girls at school want to be with him. He likes it at first, but quickly gets sick of it.
* ''LightNovel/MuvLuvAlternativeTotalEclipse'': Kind of expected for ''VisualNovel/MuvLuv'' (which started as a HaremGenre VisualNovel), but not for the relatively serious MilitaryScienceFiction that is this entry. Towards the latter half of the series especially main protagonist Yuuya Bridges becomes a bit of a ChickMagnet. Yui Takamura has BelligerentSexualTension with him from day one, which segues into DefrostingIceQueen on both sides. Inia Sestina likes him but is A) way too young, B) seems to think of him as more of a big brother, and C) is a Soviet.[[note]]Yuuya is a US Army officer and the UsefulNotes/ColdWar didn't end just because there's an AlienInvasion going on.[[/note]] Inia's older partner partner Cryska Barchenowa develops a crush on Yuuya later. They're all topped by the Chinese TSF pilot Cui Yifei, though, who cops a BestHerToBedHer attitude after Yuuya beats her in single combat during a wargame and starts claiming he's her husband. Yuuya isn't attracted to any of them except Yui, and struggles to get rid of Cui in particular.
* In ''Literature/DemonSwordMaiden'', Kagami Lily winds up with the EvenTheGirlsWantHer variation. Several attractive women wind up following her around due to reasons beyond her control, one of them even repeatedly gives her a ForcefulKiss and refuses to take "no" for an answer, even literally sweeping her off her feet, helpless as a small child, and Lily is no pushover, thank you very much.
* ''Literature/CradleSeries'': Downplayed. Lindon's harem is subtle enough that nearly everyone is completely unaware of it for most of the series, but the fact remains that he gets a shocking number of girls interested in him considering how quiet and non-confrontational he is. Not counting the random unnamed girls who sometimes blush when he saves them, there's Yerin (the first girl he met outside his clan and his closest ally), Jai Chen (who he is implied to have married in the original timeline, but now has very little connection to), Akura Mercy (a NiceGirl who loves everyone, but is still [[MistakenForRomance mistaken for his girlfriend]] by her own family), and Akura Grace (Mercy's cousin, who is so impressed by him that she tries to set up an ArrangedMarriage with him). It soon becomes clear to absolutely everyone that [[FirstGirlWins Yerin is going to win]]; even Grace's marriage proposal was more of a last-ditch Hail Mary than anything.

[[/folder]]

* Lampshaded in ''Theatre/{{Hamilton}}'':
---> '''Angelica: ''' I'm just saying if you really loved me you would share him.

* ''VideoGame/BaldursGate'' only has three options, although due to class and/or alignment you're pretty unlikely to keep them all in the same party...
* In ''VideoGame/ADanceWithRogues'', every male character who joins your party ([[HoYay and one female character]]) have at least some interest in the Princess.
* ''VideoGame/Persona3'' plays this trope straight with Akihiko: he has a harem, but he [[ObliviousToLove doesn't pay attention to it]]. He doesn't even know the names of the girls involved.
* In ''VideoGame/YggdraUnion'', there's the [[{{Bishonen}} lovely]] [[SugarAndIcePersonality Roswell]]. [[ChristmasCake Mistel]], [[ChristmasCake Eudy]], [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Pamela]], [[BlackComedyRape Ortega]], [[CannotStandThemCannotLiveWithoutThem Ros]][[{{Tsundere}} ary]], [[MeetCute Ygg]][[RescueRomance dra]], and [[LoveRedeems Nessiah]] all seem to want to get into his pants, but the poor guy isn't interested in ''any'' of them. [[ShipTease ...except maybe Yggdra]]. ''Maybe.''
** Best shown in Grunt's loyalty mission, where after defeating a Tresher Maw, ''on-foot'', the first to do so since Wrex over a thousand years previously, also no matter what Shepard's gender, EDI calls and informs you;
--> '''EDI''': There are also several breeding requests for Grunt.
* Garlot of ''VideoGame/BlazeUnion''. He has childhood friends [[GenkiGirl Siskier]] and [[TheSmartGuy Jenon]], along with friends and allies [[CoolBigSis Medoute]], [[TagTeamTwins Luciana and Aegina]], [[FilleFatale Iita]], [[OurMermaidsAreDifferent Sleip]], [[ChristmasCake Eudy]], [[WorthyOpponent Leon]], and [[TricksterMentor Nessiah]] following him around.
* Yuri from ''VideoGame/InfiniteSpace''. Let's see, there's his [[spoiler:[[NotBloodSiblings unrelated]]]] [[BrotherSisterIncest sister]] [[TheChick Kira]], TheLancer [[TeacherStudentRomance Nia]], [[DistressedDamsel Kat]][[SpoiledBrat ida]], [[WrenchWench Franny]], [[ActiveRoyalty Glorinda]], [[FoeYay Ci]][[WorthyOpponent co]], and [[HoYay Dietrich]]. On the minor characters' side, there's Melania, and possibly Soneto and Mariana have a crush on him as well.
* ''VideoGame/{{Fable|I}}'' has this if you get attractive enough. It will result in you being blocked into your house/shops. It is a ScrappyMechanic.
* VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog has one of these, though most of the girls are never shown.
* Occurs in the HGame ''Artificial Girl'' 3, where you can have up to five girls in a single savefile.
* Link is a victim of this in just about every ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZelda'' game. There are multiple stories, videos and pieces of fan art with Link and the most well-known female characters.
* [[VideoGame/SuperMarioBros Mario]] is also quite a ladies' man. This is more prominent in the ''VideoGame/PaperMario'' series, especially with [[BuxomIsBetter Flurrie]], [[ClassyCatBurglar Ms. Mowz]], and [[BlackMagicianGirl Vivian]].
* Ogami of ''VideoGame/SakuraWars'' gains one, and is one of the earliest originators of the "Harem Hero" archetype.
%% Takeru gains one in ''VisualNovel/MuvLuvExtra''. ZERO CONTEXT EXAMPLE
* In ''VideoGame/WhenYanderesCry'', Nishiki has to deal with a {{Yandere}} variety of this. [[spoiler:[[TheHeroDies It goes about as well as you think it would]].]]
* Tomohiro of ''Magical Dears'' gets one, due to being the only boy in his WizardingSchool.
* In ''VisualNovel/OtometekiKoiKakumeiLoveRevo'', Kennosuke, Ren and Souta each have one.

* Peter from ''Manga/PeterGrillAndThePhilosophersTime'' has an increasing number of {{Cute Monster Girl}}s after him. Unfortunately, in this case the harem really ''is'' unwanted; the one he really wants to be with is his longtime sweetheart Luvelia, but she's incredibly ignorant about sex and thus he can't consummate his relationship with her. The other girls are mainly after Peter [[DarwinistDesire so he can give them strong children]], and they constantly churn his libido to get him to have sex with them.

* Catarina, from ''LightNovel/MyNextLifeAsAVillainessAllRoutesLeadToDoom'' doesn't seek a harem, but gets one comprised of both guys and girls, by being a kind and caring, if not stupid friend to them. Furthermore, she is so dense she doesn't notice that one is growing around her, of both genders, thinking herself still the villainess.

** The Reverie arc makes it quite clear that Luffy unknowingly created a royalty harem for himself that consists of Princess Vivi of Alabasda, Princess Shirahoshi of Fishman Island, and Princess Rebecca of Dressrosa.

As a vampire, Kojou’s powers work when he drinks other people’s blood, something he is unwilling to do until the girls convice him to drink theirs. Most of the Yuki Fan Club members aren't fleshed out much and only exist to demonstrate how popular Yuki is. They're more of a Groupie Brigade than this trope.

* In ''Manga/FruitsBasket'', the entire fan club of Yuki, especially the main four, could be considered this for Yuki.
