The intersection of RuleThirtyFour, the ThirdLawOfGenderBending, TransEqualsGay, and AllGaysArePromiscuous, Transgender Fetishization is the practice of placing a transgender character in a hypersexualized role, often as someone that does {{Fanservice}} better, or focuses on sexual content more candidly, than the other characters in the setting. For this trope, "Transgender" is being used as a catch-all for many different forms of gender-nonconformity, such as {{Crossdresser}}, AmbiguousGender, AmbiguousGenderIdentity, SexShifter or others.

A form of {{escapism}} that makes transgender/gender-nonconforming characters exotic and hypersexualized, this trope can be quite the [[Administrivia/TropesAreTools double-edged sword]]. On one hand, demonstrating that trans persons can be conventionally sexy goes a long way in dispelling harmful myths and discomfort with their identities. It also allows creators to push boundaries, explore sexual themes, and experiment with mature ideas, as well as encourage their audiences to do the same. Parts of the [[LGBTFanbase transgender community]] (especially those who are closeted) enjoy the trope, as it allows them to explore sexual themes through the characters.

On the other hand, this trope can still degrade into exploitation with all of the associated problems and pitfalls. It can reinforce the belief that the most significant thing about LGBTQIA people is whether or not ''other people'' find them sexy or repulsive, and carries implications that trans people need to conform to conventional standards of beauty to be valid. Like other FlawlessToken characters, characters that fall into this trope may be displayed as confident and sexy, but lack depth or agency. Usually, they also lack reciprocated feelings or romance aside from a LovableSexManiac, or [[LikeGoesWithLike another LGBTQIA member of the cast]]. It can also reinforce the {{Stereotype}} that all non-heteronormative activity is sexual by nature.

When abused, this trope can allow a work to ''seem'' progressive while still invoking traditional gender role tropes. In the context of transgender women, it can also come across as cynical LoopholeAbuse -- often an attempt to include tropes such as MsFanservice or the MaleGaze without drawing accusations of sexism by using ''trans'' female characters in place of cis-female characters. As this comes from the assumption that the sexualization of male characters ''in general'' is less problematic by default than with female characters, it can carry the implication that transgender women [[UnfortunateImplications aren't technically "real" women]]. If [[InTouchWithHisFeminineSide effeminate]] cis-male characters are involved instead, they can also used to provide feminine sex appeal while circumventing taboos such as [[NippleAndDimed the depiction of female nipples]].

This trope is ''extremely'' rare to be played for anything except laughs in the United States. The US still has huge problems with homophobia and transphobia in general, and so for the benefit of MoralGuardians, rarely will a transgender person be treated as unironically sexy. Of course, if it's not played for comedy, it's played for drama; while sex work is seen as a common profession in the trans community due to issues of finding work in other trades both during and after transitioning, the portrait of trans sex workers usually leans into a seedy sort of sensuality that makes them objects of desire with hints of pity, tragic creatures of the demimonde. In more niche (or foreign) markets, however, a blatantly fetishistic transgender character isn't that uncommon. Japan, in particular, took this trope to an extreme with the "Newhalf" sensation starting in the 1980s.

This trope is OlderThanFeudalism. Various ancient societies have used this trope in varying degrees, such as with the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Köçek Köçek]] in Turkey, [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onnagata Onnagata]] in Japan or the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hijra_(South_Asia) Hijra]] in South Asia. However, it's also common for such groups to be both [[BigotWithACrush sexually desired and heavily discriminated against]].

One of the more negative uses of this trope occurs when it's combined with the UnsettlingGenderReveal, as the "sexiness" of the character is twisted for the audience's [[FanDisservice disgust]]/amusement. Subtrope of the ThirdLawOfGenderbending, where a gender-bent character willingly or unwillingly embraces the stereotypes associated with their new gender.

A form of FlawlessToken, because it assigns a quality that superficially seems "good" but in such an exaggerated way that the character often [[CharactersAsDevice becomes a device]] or [[GenderDynamicsIndex object]]. Related to AttractiveBentGender, {{Bifauxnen}}, EverybodyWantsTheHermaphrodite and the ThirdLawOfGenderBending. Also related to {{Elfeminate}}, whereas elves are considered universally beautiful and attractive because of the ambiguity of their gender.

* With their good looks and androgynous features making other people confused over whether they're guys or girls Shiro and Anri of ''Manga/{{Adekan}}'' are frequently made to dress in elaborate and feminine clothing while being hit on sometimes to an unwanted degree and put in fetish-tastic situations and full frontal scenes where they go nude. And EvenTheGuysWantHim, majorly.
* ''Manga/AirGear'': Shalott is feminine looking enough to be mistaken as a girl. The billowy PimpedOutDress he always wears helps. He also flashes himself to Agito, revealing he's got a GagPenis. He's in a mutual explicit and homosexual relationship with Arthur and it's portrayed as heartwarming and sexy, with both characters being very promiscuous and even hitting on their opponent Agito.
* Elegy of ''Manga/BetrayalKnowsMyName'': According to Luka in the manga, Elegy is actually a man, while Elegy herself claims to have both female and male parts. Elegy is seductive and gorgeous with a NavelDeepNeckline, a {{yandere}} crush on Luka, hints to get sexual pleasure from the pain she puts others through, uses a whip, and frequently does LecherousLicking.
* ''Manga/BlackButler'':
** Grell is canonically intended to be a trans woman despite [[FanDislikedExplanation common fanon portraying her as a gay man.]] She gets numerous fanservice-y scenes. She is also TooKinkyToTorture, goes after anything that moves, and is characterized mainly by her sexual obsession with Sebastian.
** In the anime only, [[spoiler: Angela and Ash turn out to be the same character, an [[OtherworldlyAndSexuallyAmbiguous angel capable of gender bending.]] They are portrayed as being very depraved and sexualized despite being an angel, going so far as to sleep with a ''[[{{Squick}} Hellhound]]'' (while the dog is in human form, but still),]] and offer themselves to Sebastian, who is a ''demon they antagonize.''
* Giselle of ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' is implied to be a lesbian trans woman. The "outing" of Giselle by Yumichika and Charlotte has obvious transphobic issues, most of them stemming from the way it's played for a combination of shock value and humour (i.e. having Yumichika, a "good guy", outright call Giselle a man, make an erection joke at her expense, and offer the bizarre factoid that she "smells of semen" [[note]]that's actually Japanese slang[[/note]] as evidence for her being trans) Giselle's abuse and sadism towards Bambietta is deep within "psycho lesbian" trope territory, and there's a pretty unmistakable fetishistic quality to it, too.
* ''Manga/BokuGirl'': Mizuki is a feminine boy that got turned into a girl and ever since the change, he's always getting nude scenes and being forced to wear cute or sexy costumes. Even the covers show him in {{Fanservice}}-y outfits.
* Lelouch vi Britannia of ''Anime/CodeGeass'' crossdresses quite convincingly in extra scenes, and many characters, including Suzaku ([[HoYay who is a man]]), and another man he is entertaining when dressed as a belly dancer, note his attractive girlish appearance. A girl in one crossdressing scene is in awe of how Lelouch makes for such a pretty girl and says she is losing confidence in herself as a woman.
* [[spoiler:Akito]] from ''Manga/FruitsBasket'' is actually a crossdressing woman who was RaisedAsTheOppositeGender in the manga. She gets some nude scenes or scenes where her clothing is falling off her and she generates much subtext with both men and women. She is also quite the {{Bifauxnen}} and is delicate and frail.
* Envy of ''Manga/FullMetalAlchemist'' technically doesn't have a gender and the main form they prefer to take is that of the body of an androgynous scantily clad man. Some consider their sense of dress complete with bared midriff, androgynous features, nonbinary identity, toned body, flamboyant personality, sexual tension with their enemies Edward and Roy, ability to shape-shift to look like anyone (male or female), sadism, and acting turned on at witnessing other characters trauma to be strangely sexy.
* Peppo of ''Anime/{{Gankutsuou}}'' is implied to be a transgender woman. She has gorgeous looks and loves to flirt with Albert who she has a crush on. There's a scene in the manga where she is stripped and in the anime she goes on to become a successful model.
* Kazuki Fuuchouin of ''Manga/GetBackers'' is RaisedAsTheOppositeGender and is a male crossdresser that acts as a character who partly exists to titillate both men and women through his occasional nude scenes, an outfit that exposes his collarbones and shoulders, focus on his long shapely legs, and obvious HoYay with many male characters. He's androgynously beautiful enough that other characters try to hit on him as they think he's a girl, and the series plays with this to confuse us more by having a scene where he wears a towel wrapped around his chest in a hot spring in a manner much as a woman would.
* ''Manga/HayateTheCombatButler'': Hayate is a DudeLooksLikeALady bishonen who is frequently made to crossdress and attracts even more looks/attention from men than the various women in the story.
* Mariandale/Marian from ''Anime/IxionSagaDT'', is a genuine UsefulNotes/{{transgender}} lady, and as revealed during the BeachEpisode, she is popular with both genders.
* This is a DiscussedTrope in ''Manga/KanojoNiNaruHi'' and its successor series ''Kanojo Ni Naru Hi Another'', which takes place in a world where some children spontaneously change sex to maintain a 50/50 gender ratio. Such "emerged" people are subject to a lot of positive and negative discrimination because common transgender fetishization tropes like AttractiveBentGender are played straight and it's specifically mentioned InUniverse that emerged children face a significantly increased risk of kidnapping by transgender fetishists and [[TheUnfettered unfettered]] {{Evilutionary Biologist}}s who want to experiment on them.
* Hazumu from ''Manga/KashimashiGirlMeetsGirl''. It's strongly implied that Hazumu was a trans girl all along without realizing it, and that may have been the reason behind the GenderBender in the first place. She doesn't protest at all about becoming female and seems to be much happier as a girl than she was as a boy. She also gets the bulk of the fanservice once she becomes a girl, generates crushes in numerous characters no matter their gender or species, and is an InnocentFanserviceGirl.
* ''Manga/MakenKi'': Syria is revealed to have originally been a gay man before she obtained her powers, along with the ability to transform into a girl. [[TransEqualsGay That's problematic in its own right]], but as a girl, she is considered extremely beautiful and sexy--partly because she's [[ForeignFanservice American]], but even in her homeland she's a TeenIdol. She also becomes one of the girls most aggressively pursuing Takeru... which leads to another issue with her portrayal. Early on, Takeru notes that he feels no attraction to Syria and doesn't understand why, with the implication that he instinctively realized she wasn't "actually" a girl. This later gets resolved when he says he doesn't care what gender she was before she became Syria, but that doesn't counteract his initial gut reaction.
* [[spoiler:Yoite]] of ''Manga/NabariNoOu'' is an attractive delicate intersex character who prefers to be seen as a man and who is implied to have garnered the love of Miharu and the flirtations/come-ons of other characters.
* ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'':
** Haku could be seen as a more beautiful alluring woman than the others if not for the little fact that he's supposedly a guy who wears feminine clothing. Even Naruto acknowledged after finding out his true gender that he’s prettier than his female crush Sakura.
** Naruto himself has the ability (sexy jutsu) to transform himself into that of a naked female, and in this form is a LustObject to numerous men.
* Yuki from ''Manga/NoBra'' seems to be for all intents and purposes a trans girl. When she's forced to dress as a boy late in the series or risk being kicked out of school the other girls even say that she has the heart of a girl despite having a male body and that she's prettier than all the other girls. She also garners crushes from men who know of her birth gender and is the major source of fanservice in the series, doling out panty shots and the like.
* Ivankov of ''Manga/OnePiece'' switches genders at will and his female form is one of the more gorgeous and curvaceous women in the series.
* Haruhi of ''Manga/OuranHighSchoolHostClub'' is hinted at being genderqueer, as she is female but likes wearing unflattering masculine clothing, is tomboyish, and doesn't mind if people look at her as a man or a woman. She's also considered one of the prettier boys by the female customers who don't know her birth sex and she inspires infatuations in characters of either gender.
* Kuranosuke of ''Manga/PrincessJellyfish'' is a beautiful man who crossdresses as a beautiful woman to great effect because he likes to, leading to boatloads of Fanservice, shirtless and nude scenes, and inspiring crushes in both men and women. He's drawn as prettier than most of the girls in the setting too and people who look at him think he's a model.
* The three main bishie characters in ''Manga/PrincessPrincess'' crossdress as princesses in elegant outfits to help relieve the tension in an all-male school by having them being fawned over by the entire student body. They have a lot of HoYay between them when they crossdress or are dressed in male uniforms (or get hit on by boys even when dressed normally), particularly between Tooru and Yuujirou. They also are prettier when dressed as princesses than many of the actual girls that show up.
* ''Manga/PrunusGirl'': Aikawa would be the most beautiful girl of the first-year students except for the little catch that he's a guy and is crossdressing. He also is quite the tease towards his male love interest and is a supplier of fan service, garnering crushes from numerous characters.
* In ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'', Ranma is often made to wear very appealing outfits when he's in his female form. Even the covers and SideStoryBonusArt will put her in sexy clothes.
* ''Manga/RequiemOfTheRoseKing'' has this with its protagonist Richard III. This version makes him a hermaphrodite with severe gender dysphoria, but the story takes its sweet time emphasizing the feminine parts of his body. Color pages often put him in alluring or elegant womenswear, while in-series Richard faces male suitors falling for him when they discover his breasts, or near cases of sexual assault only avoided because his assailants don't know what to make of his body.
* ''Manga/SailorMoon'':
** Usagi uses a pen to change into a male once and she/he is hot. Also Haruka says she doesn't mind being considered either a guy or girl and that her gender doesn't matter, as well being drawn as quite attractive whether in her sailor scout outfit or masculine attire and being fawned over by girls who she doesn't hesitate to flirt with. She also is in a lesbian relationship with Michiru with implied sexual connotations and kisses Usagi occasionally who she is fond of.
** The Sailor Starlights crossdress in their civilian forms (changed to switching genders at will in the '90s anime), with both forms of the four being good looking. Seiya in particular had a nearly nude bathroom scene in the '90s anime which showed off his svelte body and had crushes on girls whether in guy or girl form.
** Fisheye is portrayed as a crossdressing gay man with feelings for Mamoru and is much more seductive and utilizes their good looks/attributes to charm others more than Mamoru's actual love interest Usagi.
* ''Manga/{{Sekirei}}'': Ever since he began to turn into a woman, the number of {{Fanservice}} scenes Homura gets has greatly multiplied.
* ''Manga/ToStripTheFlesh'' has its protagonist, the transgender man Chiaki, spend a lot of time struggling with his desire to be seen as a man and join his father in hunting game, but failing for a long time because his father wants to protect him as a daughter (not helped by trauma relating to his mother dying while he was young). However, he knows that he has a curvaceous female body, so he exploits this trope by livestreaming himself cutting game meat in form-fitting sweaters that show off his breasts. Quite a few pages are devoted to this livestream and what's being focused on, and there are a few scenes that depict him naked, but it's supposed to show the contrast between how he's perceived by the world and his own inner struggle.
* Nathan of ''Manga/TigerAndBunny''. Nathan was born male and dresses very flamboyantly and sexily (even wearing high heels), and could definitely be seen as being "exotic", uses female UsefulNotes/JapanesePronouns (though this is not an uncommon practice among cisgender homosexuals as well, see "lavender linguistics"), and self-describes as "one of the girls". WordOfGod states that Nathan considers themself to be "gender-free". Also, in the 6th Drama CD Nathan files a request to Yuri Petrov for a gender-neutral locker room. They act seductively towards men as well.
* ''Manga/TokyoGhoul'':
** Fans are divided on whether Mutsuki's (implied to be either genderfluid, a trans man, or a crossdressing woman) moments of being depicted in little to no clothing or girls clothes is fanservice or fan disservice considering their increasing SanitySlippage and the contexts of the situations they're in, one in which they stabbed and assaulted Uta's (as Haise) corpse while half-naked and declared their love for Haise. However, some fans were pleased when Mutsuki was drawn in woman's clothing, as a CatGirl, and a bikini in illustrations, the manga, and the calendar. Also many fans find them very gorgeous and to clean up nicely when dressed in a suit. In particular they are popular among both men and women, with one man named Torso having a sexual attraction to them to the point of masturbation and wanting to marry them. They are misgendered as a woman and objectified and seen as a LustObject by Torso who feels he is EntitledToHaveYou.
** There is an ambiguous situation regarding Suzuya's gender identity as they were raised as a girl and castrated by their ghoul mother (who is stated to have been born male but isn't attractive unless you like heavy set trans women/crossdressers with revealing clothing) and occasionally is shown looking ''stunning'' in women's clothing and attracts people of both genders.
** Kaneki/Sasaki is considered by some fans to be genderfluid, as he gets a couple scenes where he is portrayed as a woman or made to cross-dress whether for cosplay, as part of an AprilFoolsDay comic, portraying Cinderella, accidentally getting a female uniform when going undercover with Touka into the CCG, or willingly cross-dressing as "Sasako" as part of a mission. He makes for a beautiful girl, and his innocence and RealMenWearPink qualities add to the effect. There are also hints of Kaneki being genderfluid or intersex, as Nishiki and other characters comment on his androgynous smell,[[note]]Rize's strong female ghoul smell from her kakuhou that was implanted into him and his underlying human male smell[[/note]] his effeminate behaviors/qualities,[[note]]started as a skinny weak bookworm, skilled with makeup and fashion and in having to act/sound like a woman for an undercover mission, being compared to a woman in a poem, doesn't like to fight, acts like an adoring fanboy when he first sees the fellow male Tsukiyama, had Hide to fight his battles/stand up for him in the past, does things like hitting Nishiki with his bag if he does fight for his life (which makes Nishiki mockingly call him a chick), Furuta emasculating him (by saying he has a baby face, calling him "my dear Kaneki" and trying to be the alpha male enemy), and his occasional interactions with men and women scenes where he is almost submissive or is beat up, which he sometimes doesn't fight back against due to his ExtremeDoormat nature[[/note]] his constant ShipTease moments with other characters regardless of gender, his association with calico cats,[[note]]which are almost always female, the exception being a calico with XXY chromosomes: an intersex cat that leans more towards the male spectrum[[/note]] and Haise/Kaneki's associations with the fenghuang (or phoenix),[[note]]Originally the bird was two, the feng 鳳 being the male bird and huang 凰 being the female. The fenghuang is a combination of a man and woman but is the representative figure of the Empress (the tarot card suits Kaneki as well).[[/note]] Buddha[[note]]A man so beautiful that he was sometimes mistaken for a woman alongside his other androgynous qualities; nobody really minded his androgynous appearance because he was so beautiful and wise.[[/note]] and Odin.[[note]]Who not only gained an immense amount of knowledge after hanging from Yggdrasil for 9 nights, but also became intersex as well as fertile -- as in, he could birth his own children. The argument continues to this day over the meaning of 'fertile' in Odin's monologue after coming down from the Tree, but the majority conclude that for the time period, the word 'fertile' meant 'child-bearing' and womanly'. If that isn't convincing, keep in mind that Loki was a male god who gave birth and was the mother to three different beings.[[/note]] Kaneki is also considered quite a pretty {{Bishonen}} who keeps racking up admirers, some of them of the VillainousCrush variety. He doesn't mind being referred to by the French term "Maman" for mother by Saiko. There are also quite a few scenes where he's dressed in outfits that showcase how built he is, and he has many shirtless/nude/shower scenes, and [[spoiler:even a sex scene]].
* Dilandau from ''Anime/TheVisionOfEscaflowne'' is a female turned into a male who gets a lot of sexual tension with Van, and is one of the prettier and sexier characters in the series. There's even a fetish-tactic scene in which he's wearing nothing but brown panties.
* ''Manga/{{Yuureitou}}'':
** Official art is weird about this. The chapters' covers would make you assume that Tetsuo is an androgynous woman and often present him in fanservicey poses or limited clothing. The manga itself though treats him being a trans man very seriously, though he still occasionally gets MaleGaze. He's quite dysphoric and loathes being seen as feminine. In-series both women and men obsess over his good looks and dignified behaviour, especially his partner Taichi who even at one point imagines himself crossdressing as a woman to have sex with him as well as multiple other male characters having a SuspiciouslySpecificDenial about his attractive appearance.
** Taichi initially presents as a cis man before later crossdressing as a woman and finding woman's clothes comfortable, suggesting he has hints of gender fluidity. He is considered cute and is hit on in both male and female clothing to the point of almost rape and sexual harassment or interest at the hands of Marube and men at a village. He receives more comfortable and consensual interest from trans man Tetsuo (which he returns) and a StraightGay character.
** [[spoiler:Marube]] mixes FanDisservice and {{Fanservice}} as he wants to be a woman in a bid to feel closer to his beloved deceased wife and hits on multiple characters. He wants to stay young and beautiful and crossdresses, presenting himself as a woman a few times and looks gorgeous if a bit unhinged.

* In ''ComicBook/{{Runaways}}'', the genderfluid ShapeShifter Xavin was created to give lesbian Karolina a love interest without violating Marvel's rules about portraying LGBT couples in a series that the company had hoped to aim at younger teenagers. Because Xavin could change shape and gender, they were not [[DiscountLesbians technically considered a lesbian]], and thus were not subject to the same restrictions that would have applied if they and Karolina were both lesbians. Over time, Marvel's standards loosened and Xavin was PutOnABus. When ''Runaways'' was [[Series/Runaways2017 adapted into a TV show]], this aspect was dropped entirely; Karolina is an open lesbian in a relationship with the bisexual Nico, and when Xavin appears, she clearly identifies as a woman while still romantically pursuing Karolina.
* Comicbook/{{Mystique}} from the ''Franchise/XMen'' franchise rapidly evolved into this trope after her popularity exploded due to the LiveActionAdaptation. While Mystique has always been portrayed as a ShapeshiftingSeducer with huge PowerPerversionPotential (her original creator even intended for her to "father" a child with a woman), she was once shackled by censorship and editorial mandate. It wasn't until later when sexual themes and non-heterosexual interests started becoming acceptable that Mystique reached her full potential as a genderfluid MsFanservice.

And the episode portrays Rosalie as extremely attractive, especially to Meg — who ends up [[spoiler:having sex with her and loses her virginity for the first time after that episode]].

* ''Film/AceVentura: Pet Detective'': The character Einhorn, portrayed by Creator/SeanYoung, is depicted as the most attractive character in the setting. But we don't know that she's transgender until an UnsettlingGenderReveal at the end of the movie.
* ''Film/BoyMeetsGirl'': The main character of the film is an attractive trans woman who has transitioned for several years, played by Michelle Hendley, who is the same. She has slept with several characters including her best friend who knew her as male, a violently transphobic boy she went to school with, and his girlfriend. The fact that she has a penis is seen as attractive as well, and no part of the story implies otherwise.

* Invoked with Misty Carpenter, the [[GenderBender body swapped]] heroine of ''Literature/TheIdentityMatrix'': The Identity Matrix Center deliberately reprogrammed her identity to make her a LovableSexManiac for a variety of reasons. While most of these reasons are sinister--they're trying to lay the groundwork to turn her into a sleeper agent against alien invaders, and have determined that pansexuality is a requirement--some of these reasons are just practical--they want to make her the sort of person no one will ever take seriously in case she ever breaks her programming. However, some of their reasons are just rationalizations to assuage their own guilt for turning her into a sex worker, because they can always claim making her a stripper and a prostitute wasn't a punishment as long as she enjoys it. The latter shows up as subtext in a debate about what constitutes sexual exploitation after she learns what has been done to her.
* ''Literature/{{Kampfer}}'': While transformed into a girl, Senou is considered one of (if not ''the'') most beautiful women in his school. The series loves to put him into sexual/fanservice situations while in that form, moreso than any other girl. The show also has a very cagey depiction of lesbianism which furthers the trope: the characters outright define "lesbian" as [[ExperimentedInCollege girls who have feelings for each other during puberty]], and the droves of adoring male and female admirers have no real interest beyond fetishizing him (this is PlayedForLaughs) with Senou's serious {{Love Interest}}s almost all preferring his male form. * ''Series/{{Transparent}}'': Inverted during the first season, where Maura was the only character who wasn't engaging in raunchy sexual behavior. This is another part of the shop that's intended to demonstrate Rapture's sexual mores, defying the heteronormative standards that would have been present on the surface at the time (while also exploiting non-heteronormative sexuality/gender to make a profit).
* Occurs in ''VideoGame/Cyberpunk2077'' with a street advertisement for the in-universe soft drink [=ChroManticore=] depicting a female model with a very noticable penis bulge, with the slogan "mix it up".
* In the shared universe of the ''VideoGame/FinalFight'' and ''Franchise/StreetFighter'' franchises, Poison fits this trope. This was an UnbuiltTrope according to the common [[PopCultureUrbanLegends urban legend]] of her origin. Poison (and her counterpart, Roxy) were originally created as female adversaries in the ''Final Fight'' series, and to provide blatant fanservice. But when the game was ported over to the SNES console, Nintendo of America had a problem with [[WouldNotHitAGirl violence against women]]. So the solution they settled on was to say the two were trans women... [[UnfortunateImplications because that makes them okay to beat up.]] The truth is that Poison was always intended to be genuinely transgender. Her concept art had her labeled as "newhalf", which is a somewhat derogatory Japanese term for trans people, similar to "shemale" in English. Regardless, she has always been trans. ** In a general sense, TheNewTens have seen a resurgence of the Poison character, thanks to her inclusion in both ''VideoGame/StreetFighterXTekken'' and ''[[CapcomSequelStagnation Ultra]] Videogame/StreetFighterIV''. Aside from [[SexIsViolence Juri]], she's the most provocative character in the setting, and aside from [[WalkingSwimsuitScene Elena]], wears ''by far'' the least clothing. Even her fighting style is somewhat based on a dominatrix. In ''X Tekken'', she had very little personality or story beyond that and her status as a trans woman was often alluded to or joked about, but this was heavily toned down in ''Ultra'' and she gained some HiddenDepths in her winquotes, though she kept the fighting style for gameplay purposes.
* Zig-zagged regarding Bridget in the ''VideoGame/GuiltyGear'' series. In the ''XX'' era, where she identified as a boy but dressed and presented feminine, she was subject to a lot of fanservice tropes, especially in her combat animations. But upon coming out as a trans woman in ''-STRIVE-'', these animations are either toned down or removed, giving her a more respectful portrayal.
* ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'':
** Ghirahim from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword'' is thought by some to be a flamboyant male villain, but is actually [[NoBiologicalSex genderless]] and his flamboyant nature is a major provider of fanservice in the series, one source being his OverlyLongTongue, tendency for LecherousLicking, and literal BloodLust. He receives numerous close-ups on his toned body and gets ominously flirtatious with Link in several scenes.
** ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'': There are some cross-dressing men in the game dressed in female gerudo garb that look attractive and present as women. One helps Link dress in a female Gerudo outfit and the result is an already bishounen Link being bashful and considered to make a good looking girl in his new outfit by flirtatious male characters with some fans saying he looks better than the cis women in the game.
* Kaine, the tritagonist of ''VideoGame/{{NieR}}'', is a beautiful intersex fighter who dresses in what can only be described as [[{{Stripperiffic}} "Battle Lingerie"]]. She is by far one of the most sexualized women in her world (even appearing on the SexyPackaging for the sequel book), and a possible LoveInterest for the protagonist. The justification is that the ridiculous lingerie getup leaves no room for doubt that [[InvokedTrope she wants to be treated like a woman]].
* ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'':
** PlayedWith regarding Birdo, a character of AmbiguousGender, who looks like a dinosaur with varying colors (but usually pink) and an open, round snout. Due to not being humanoid, Birdo isn't exactly a character designed for {{Fanservice}}, but she (usually referred to with she/her pronouns) is portrayed as ''extremely'' confident in her appearance and very flirtatious with other characters, especially Yoshi and Popple. Additionally, in ''VideoGame/CaptainRainbow'', Birdo gets thrown in jail because she tried to use a woman's restroom, and the title character has to prove she's a girl by finding and presenting an item that's heavily implied to be a vibrator.
** In a very minor example [[ShesAManInJapan lost in translation]] Vivian from ''VideoGame/PaperMarioTheThousandYearDoor'' is intended to be transgender in most non-English versions, including the original. She also gains the move "Infatuate" at master rank.
* In ''VideoGame/XenobladeChroniclesX'', there is a female OneGenderRace called the Definians that have the ability to make themselves look like anyone. While, by their own admission, the shape-changing is only an illusion (their real form is always the same), two of them (based on the sex of the protagonist) might choose to live as male (if only to try and get into the protagonist's pants). Notably, they are from an entire race of {{Ms Fanservice}}s, and while the protagonist is a {{Dude|Magnet}}[=/=]ChickMagnet, these are the most blatant in their sexual attraction, to the point that they plan on fighting over you.

When given access to time travel technology, Luka uses it to retroactively be born female(... [[ArtisticLicenseBiology somehow]]).

She would later get a lot of pushback for this comic, especially from the trans community, and apologized publicly for it in 2012 (the apology can be found on the same page as the comic itself).
* Subverted in ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'': Ashley's favorite manga is ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'', and while she already had an interest in Elliot earlier, she crushes on him ''really'' hard after witnessing his transformation into a girl. However, this is specifically due to an interest in transformation of various kinds.
* ''Webcomic/MenageA3'':
** The only actual trans woman in the series, Senna, is considered one of the most beautiful women in her world, probably rivaled only by the likes of [=DiDi=]. This applies both in-universe and out. Unfortunately, she is portrayed with pretty much every negative transphobic stereotype about trans women there is, including rape (she penetrates the male lead anally while he was too drunk to even properly understand what was going on), a moment that is portrayed as [[DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale a double standard]] [[BlackComedyRape rape as comedy]] scene without any consequences of any kind. This caused major criticism from real trans folk about portraying the only trans character as an egotistical, obnoxious, self-absorbed diva with a fetish for anally deflowering drunk men, which writer/artist Giselle responded to by arguing that every character in her SexComedy is just as bad. However, the story arc in question ''specifically'' characterized Senna as being more selfish, more vain, and more sexually forward than most other characters. So whether or not Senna qualifies as this really depends on how you view trans women to begin with.
** ''Webcomic/StickyDillyBuns'': Angel/Angie is genderfluid and alternates between presenting as female and male. They are gay when male and straight when female. They are very attractive with a goth style when presenting as either gender (as either a PrettyBoy or beautiful woman), garner a few crushes towards them, and once get a nude scene complete with {{Sarashi}} bindings.
* In ''Webcomic/{{Rain|2010}}'', Gavin [[https://rain.thecomicseries.com/comics/296 finds himself fantasizing]] about Rain (a trans girl) and Rudy (who sometimes cross-dresses) in a sexual way despite knowing full well who they are and it is different from how he thinks about cisgender girls.

** The trope is discussed in the "Autogynephilia" video, in which she points to J. Michael Bailey's ''The Man Who Would Be Queen'' as popularizing the trope for modern audiences. In the book, Bailey and his assistants refer to trans women as unnaturally attractive (to the point of UncannyValley), and with a natural affinity toward sex work.
** The negative implications of this trope when combined with UnsettlingGenderReveal are also examined in her video "Are Tr*ps Gay?", where she dissects the homonymous meme (popularized in Western anime fan communities) and the stereotype it promotes that trans women "deceive" men into having sex with them, the implication being that trans women aren't ''really'' women. As she explains, this normalizes long-existing beliefs that result in cis heterosexual men reacting to their own attraction to a trans woman as though it were a threat to their own heterosexuality, leading to the murder and general lack of safety of real trans women in their daily lives (especially poor trans women of color). She also goes further to talk about the popularity of trans women-fetishizing porn with heterosexual male audiences in anti-LGBT states in the US. Not only she uses this to demonstrate that heterosexual men ''are'' attracted to trans women, but to explain that the fetishization and dehumanizing representation of trans women in porn (from which cis men often first find out about trans women) also results in a country "full of people who will jerk off to you, but won't give you rights".
