* From 2014 to 2016, Fisher-Price released a line of WesternAnimation/{{Thomas|AndFriends}} Wooden Railway specialty sets that had characters exclusive to those sets. These characters were not pre-existing characters from the ''Literature/TheRailwaySeries'' books or the ''Thomas the Tank Engine'' TV series and were made specifically for these sets. These characters included Logan, a small, squat steam shunter that distributes coal in the yards, Sam, a massive American locomotive sent to help with the construction of a new museum, and Dustin, a snowplow locomotive that comes to help during a blizzard. In addition to models of the characters themselves, each set came with a book about the adventures these characters went on; Logan had ''Logan and the Big Blue Engines'', Sam had ''Sam and the Great Bell'', and Dustin had ''Dustin Comes in First'' and ''Dustin and the Sodor Steam Team''. While Logan and Dustin have not appeared outside these books, Sam eventually made a brief cameo in the ''WesternAnimation/BigWorldBigAdventures'' movie.

I don't think those figures don't count since they don't have the movie logo on their package.

** Many alternative models or combiner models never featured in any media, such as the FourLeggedInsect combo model of Gahdok and Cahdok, Akamai Nuva (a [[FusionDance fusion]] who was technically canon but never formed, and by the story's end he could not be formed anymore), the alternate Boxor and Exo-Toa mechs, or any of the several Japanese combo models. Spiriah's set form carried what seems to be a mutated, maskless Matoran on his back, which was ignored for Spiriah's story appearance.
** Morak was a rare example of a named main-line set that was never mentioned by name in fiction, as it was just a generic background animal. It was acknowledged in guide books released long after the toy, so it's canon, it just never did anything in the story.
** Some of the 2006 and 2007 playsets feature creatures, robots and vehicles with no story presence. One of these, the Fenrakk Spawn spider was meant to appear in the story but the writer opted to neglect it rather than try to force it in. It too was referenced in a guide book, making it canon despite never appearing in fiction.
** The Kraatu is an odd example, as it didn't even have a toy, although Toys/{{LEGO}} released official building instructions for it, meaning it can be built. The fact that it has a unique name suggests LEGO had more plans for it, but no such creature appeared in the story.

** ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' had this by the dozens. Out of the many, ''many'' various animals, Fuzors, Transmetals and non-canon variants, only a handful were showcased in the show itself. Many of them received new life in the comic lines (both Western and Japanese), as well as the Japanese exclusive ''Anime/BeastWarsII'' and ''Anime/BeastWarsNeo'', but in the initial show itself? Not so much as a cameo. This would be repeated later on in ''WesternAnimation/BeastMachines''.
