* The UsefulNotes/CulturalRevolution in [[UsefulNotes/MaoZedong Maoist China]] was a failed attempt to Avert this. The movement started when Mao was ousted from power after the catastrophic failure of the "The Great Leap Forward" from 1958-1962 and turned into a symbolic figurehead (but still influential due his leadership of the CCP from its founding and victory in the Chinese Civil War). He instead blamed the failures of the Great Leap Foward on corrupt bureaucrats who wanted to steer the revolution back into capitalism (dubbed the "Capitalist Roaders") and that the revolution wouldn't be a complete change from the old system if there wasn't a complete change in the culture of the society. After his declarations, a massive movement (led by ''teeneager'' militias known as the "Red Guards") attacked and purged bureaucrats (among many other targets) who were considered Mao's enemies, suspected Mao's enemies or even those who ''had the possibility to become'' Mao's enemies. The Cultural Revolution soon become chaotic as the country broke down into a screeching halt due the mass hesteria brought by the society-wide WitchHunt with only the most ideologically subserviant surviving.
