Ginga, on the other hand, may be named after one of the characters from Gear Fighter Dendou, where the concept for her weapons comes from.

* Several Anime series have a character with the name Subaru. This is the Japanese name for the constellation/star cluster ''Pleiades''. The car company takes its name from this also (it's on their emblem), because it was formed from 6 smaller companies (there is usually said to be seven pleiades -- whence the common appelletion "the Seven Sisters" -- but most people can only see six, while those with unsually good eyesight may discern 8+ , and telescopes reveal hundreds more).

** The Sailor Senshi. Except for the title character, their Sailor identities are are named after planets: Sailor Mercury, Sailor Venus, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Saturn, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune and Sailor Pluto. (That last one is included because [[ScienceMarchesOn Pluto was considered a planet when the series was written]].) Their "civilian" names that are easy puns on their hero identities and/or their planets, and usually contain a kanji for or associated with their planets. For example, Sailor Moon's name Tsukino Usagi, sounding like the phrase "rabbit of the moon", which refers to a Japanese fable as well as her Moon Kingdom history.

* ''TabletopGame/YuGiOh'' has the Agents, who are each named after a planet in the solar system (sans Neptune). They are a {{Homage}} to [[Literature/TheDivineComedy Paradiso]].
