* ComicBook/RobinSeries: Jaeger's most common weapon is a sniper rifle that he can use at great distances when he's not recording one of his snuff films in which he kills his victims from a much closer range.
* Franchise/WonderWoman Vol 5: Maru uses a sniper rifle against Diana with the intent that the distance it affords her will allow her to kill the Amazon without letting her retaliate. She underestimated Diana's HealingFactor and speed though.

Historically, most military sniper rifles in real life were simply standard issue rifles with better scopes, since these were powerful and accurate enough for most such purposes. As carbines and assault rifles were adopted as the main infantry weapons, however, specialized rifles for this role became more necessary.

Added DiffLines:

* The title character of Series/TheMandalorian has a blaster rifle that can disintegrate living targets with one shot, however it uses up a full power cell with each blast so he has to reload each time he pulls the trigger. It also has a pair of tuning fork-like prongs on the end that can act like a cattle prod at close range but is still so cumbersome he often leaves it behind when going into confined quarters.

Added DiffLines:

* TabletopGame/PlanetMercenary doesn't use "rifle" since gauss and beam weapons don't use rifling, but long guns with the sniper quality deal an extra die of damage if the player does nothing but aim and shoot on their turn. Of note is the Phubahr OSOK (One Shot, One Kill), which is very cheap but breaks after one use, and the flavor text suggests that it is intended as a disposable assassin's tool (and a footnote implies Planet Mercenary's CEO used one to terminate a lawyer who complained about the liability issues of selling them.))

* Film/JackReacher is about the investigation into a sniper who killed five people in an apparently unmotivated massacre. It's also mentioned that the title character once took part in the Wimbledon Cup shooting competition, although a former gunnery sergeant points out that he's got a little rusty since then.

Only available for Legion or as an Infinity-Plus-One-Gun for Soldier / Infiltrator Shepard.

* Film/Eraser features railgun sniper rifles that fire aluminum bullets at aluminium bullets at "close to the speed of light".light". They also have X-Ray scopes.]] Basically this entire concept is wrong. Aluminium is paramagnetic, which effectively means it is non-magnetic, so couldn't be used in a railgun, which requires a ferromagnetic projectile. Firing any projectile at 'close to the speed of light' is pretty impractical - the LHC at CERN is the world's most powerful particle accelerator. It's 27 kilometres (17 miles) in circumference, and accelerates subatomic particles to around 99% of the speed of light. Doing that with something handheld is obviously impractical. Not to mention Railguns only being able to fire at around 8000 miles per hour, or about 1% of the speed of light. An X-Ray scope is almost as ridiculous, though the problems are covered on XRayVision

* VideoGame/RisingStorm2Vietnam has several sniper rifles of mostly American and Soviet origin.
** The US and Australian Army gets access to the [=XM21=] rifle, an M14 variant with a sniper scope. The USMC, meanwhile, gets the M40 sniper rifle, a bolt-action rifle based on the Remington 700.
** The ARVN get access to both the aforementioned [=XM21=] as well as a sniper variant of the M1 Garand, which is otherwise identical to the standard M1 aside from the scope. In campaign mode, the latter is also given to the US Army during early war segments.
** The PAVN and NLF get access to three sniper rifles. The first is a scoped variant of the Mosin-Nagant, which is used by both factions. The second is the Dragunov SVD, which is exlusive to the NVA in standard mode, while the VC only get in during the late war segment in campaign mode. The third rifle is a scoped variant of the MAS-49 rifle, which is used exclusively by the VC, and in campaign mode is used until the mid-war segment.

* has a fine selection of sniper rifles, ranging from the Corpus' designed Snipetron (with a Vandal variant) and Lanka (Sniper Railgun!) to the Grineer's Vulkar (and its Wraith variant). The Tenno also have their own, like the Vectis and Rubico (both of which have Primed variants), with the Kormorex joining the lineup. Each rifle also has its own bonuses when zoomed in. Aside from having an Aura that can give extra sniper ammo and damage respectively, sniper rifles also come with a combo counter that grants increased damage on successively landed shots. Missing a shot used to cancel the combo and bonus, but now it causes the counter to decrease by one, which also happens if you go too long without landing a shot.

It is not an instakill (exept for headshots) but it does good damage.

* Sniper rifles return as the Sharpshooter's primary weapon in VideoGame/XCOM2. You start with a massive anti-materiel rifle akin to the Barrett M82 and work your way up to magnetic and eventually plasma versions. If you happen to own the War of the Chosen DLC, the game's foremost GameBreaker can be obtained by taking down the Hunter. His Darklance not only outperforms any other sniper rifle in the game, it also needs just one action to fire instead of two, so you can move and shoot in the same turn. A sharpshooter with the Death From Above skill wielding this beast from high ground can fire off as many shots as they have ammo on them, which can result in one guy/gal massacring the entire map in a single turn.
