** To a greater extent, Miranda Lawson. She's quite smug about her status as a genetically enhanced CanonSue as well as being TheDragon of Cerberus. While she does admit that she's not completely perfect, she still believes she's as close as you can get. Then deconstructed as she realises despite all her gifts, she'll never have what Shepard has, the determination to continue even with the world against them, and the drive to achieve every impossible task set before them.

Every one of those gifts were given to her during her creation by her father, a man whom she utterly (and with good reason) despises, giving an extra layer of deconstruction and bitterness.

** Characters/DoctorDoom's FatalFlaw is definitely this with him being the trifecta of InsufferableGenius, SmugSuper and TinTyrant. He's actually quite successful and effective as a BigBad having the highest win counts of Marvel's supervillains and his built up skill and power is legitimately impressive... yet it's all for naught as Victor cannot help but stroke his omniversal-sized ego which is also as fragile as china when it comes to Reed. He doesn't take defeats or anyone being better at him well at all especially if its "RICHARDS!!" doing it and he once literally walked away from a Celestial when it gave him the simple task of admitting Reed is better than him. It's not just the FF either Doom looks down his metal nose at everyone, even individuals like Iron Man and Strange can match his technology and magic pound for pound. In Jonathan Hickman's run it took Victor becoming an almighty RealityWarper god for him to finally concede Reed is better than him and he still wasn't happy about it.

* Similar to the Inhumans, ComicBook/NewGods of New Genesis typically display this towards the inhabitants of the regular non-4th dimensional universe. They have come to respect the Justice League and other heroes but still view themselves as the greatest due to their connection to the Source Wall, despite Kryptonians and other powerhouses consistently giving them a run for their money. ComicBook/Darkseid and his EliteMooks of Apokolips are the worst when it comes to this with them constantly stroking their own egos and writing off their multiple defeats as mere set backs. Darkseid in particular relishes rubbing his GodOfEvil supremacy in the faces of his opponents e.g his gloating when Batman in the Hellbat is fighting him "Why do you Earthlings continue to delude yourselves you are gods... '''when we already exist'''". It is very satisfying to see the occasions when Darkseid's assertion in his unmatched might is crushed, whether it be from Superman beating him up or the time the Empty Hand in ''ComicBook/JusticeLeagueIncarnate'' proved to be his superior --even at full power with the lord of Apokolips literally away as pathetically as any street-level thug before getting stomped.

** The Greek Gods themselves are just like in mythology extremely smug with the more villainous depictions in the New 52 crossing the line into very insufferable and punchable deities. Apollo in particular saw no problem with calling Diana a slut in front Superman since as a god he views them as less than dirt and wasn't at all happy that this behaviour directly resulted in him getting clocked senseless by Clark.

** Zora is ''well aware'' that her epithet is frankly overpowered, and [[BoomerangBigot for all the noise she makes about wanting to get rid of it]], she has no problem constantly exploiting it to bully and threaten anyone who gets in her way, mundie and inscribed alike. * ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' has Cinder Fall. It's not enough that she's the Fall Maiden, she has to flaunt her powers every chance she gets. Her meetings with Roman Torchwick typically involve waving a handful of fire in front of his face, a not-so-subtle reminder that if he doesn't comply, he's ash. For all of her poise and strength, Cinder is little more than a bully who lives to kick the "little people" and keep them down.

This attitude was dropped when he was re-introduced in the 60s with him being written as TheParagon being humble and virtuous, although it’s not entirely uncommon for writers to nudge Cap back towards this e.g his fight with Gambit in ''ComicBook/AvengersVsXMen'' Steve comes off as an ArrogantKungFuGuy who didn’t take his fellow martial artist seriously, talking to Tony on the coms before Gambit gets his “undivided attention”. Ultimate Captain America however is unmistakably this, to very punchable levels see his “Do you think this A stands for France?” line.

** ''ComicBook/SpiderGwen'' since it does a lot of RevisitingTheRoots of the themes of the original Lee-Ditko run deconstructs this with Gwen who is bitten by the spider in this continuity. Her newfound powers exhilarated Gwen as she mocked and belittled opponents and let her badassey go to her head, and didn’t even bother actually going out of her way to help people since she preferred showboating. This behaviour sets a terrible precedent for her Peter Parker who wanted to be strong like her and without the Uncle Ben incident becomes the Lizard in a desperate attempt to be more than a pushover. After Gwen unknowingly mortally wounded Peter and he reverted to human form in her arms to die, Gwen finally learns like mainstream Peter that WithGreatPowerComesGreatResponsibility.

** While Superman may usually avert this, his RoguesGallery however Zod, Brainiac, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Mongul and especially SelfDemonstrating/{{Lobo}} absolutely play this straight and relish rubbing their god-like powers or planet crushing mightiness right in Clark and anyone’s else face, though it usually comes back to bite them. They don’t take it well when the tide turns against them with Midnight having quite the VillainousBreakdown when unable to kill Luke Cage.
* ''ComicBook/WonderWoman'':
** Like Superman above, Wondy has not been above this behaviour despite her usual benevolence as many modern writers nudge Diana’s well meaning SpiritedCompetitor FeministFantasy boldness over to more Spartan-like arrogant haughtiness towards opponents she deems inferior. This may be slightly [[ItRunsInTheFamily justified]] in later continuities given TopGod Zeus who is her father, is an OlderThanFeudalism example of the SmugSuper. Though regardless Diana’s default attitude when not tapping into her heritage is still an AllLovingHero.
** Artemis, Wondy’s AntiHeroSubstitute is a straight example of this as she looks her down her nose at pretty much everyone including her sister amazon Diana. While she does get nicer in more modern stories such as ''ComicBook/RedHoodAndTheOutlaws'', she still makes her entrance to Jason in said run as smug warrioress full force, treating him like a fragile little mortal who’s made the mistake of getting in her way.

** A lot of the Amazons are like this in the New 52 and Rebirth, while some (such as Hippolyta) at least respect Superman and few other heroes, most of them look down upon outsiders with Batman in particular getting “Who does this mortal idiot in a cape think he is?” treatment from some of the more ill-tempered or xenophobic. Averted when comes to Steve Trevor in the Golden Age and Rebirth as the Amazons respect him as a fellow soldier.
** The Greek Gods themselves are just like in mythology extremely smug with the more villainous depictions in the New 52 crossing the line into very insufferable and punchable deities. Apollo in particular saw no problem with calling Diana a slut in front Superman since as a god he views them as less than dirt and wasn’t at all happy that this behaviour directly resulted in him getting clocked senseless by Clark.

** [[Characters/JuggernautMarvelComics Juggernaut]] has been the epitome of this for decades with “NOBODY STOPS THE JUGGERNAUT!” being his CharacterCatchphrase and he certainly has the power and feats to back it up having kicked asses of Marvel’s big wigs of power on multiple occasions despite suffering TheWorfEffect regularly. Interestingly Juggs is actually a more sympathetic case given his backstory of being brutally abused by his father and made to feel worthless compared to Charles his stepbrother, so him getting a kick of being empowered is hardly surprising and he does manage pull a HeelFaceTurn though it took a very long time to get there.
** ComicBook/{{Rogue}} started off as this when first appearing as a DarkActionGirl in the pages of Avengers Annual 10# with later issues continuously showing that she was smug bullying hick who used her PowerParasite mutation to get unfair advantage over the X-Men and Avengers. It’s a mark of Rogue’s CharacterDevelopment that after a HeelRealization she becomes as humble as the likes of Jean and Storm, probably aided by the fact she generally sees her mutation as a curse that could harm those close to her, rather than something to be smug about. Though granted she does slip back into this now and then, smugly weaving and dancing in between Johnny’s fire blasts during Contest of Champions with a smirk on her face.

** [[Characters/MarvelComicsMonetStCroix Monet St. Croix]] was known as the girl who had everything (including being so good-looking that some people thought it was a mutant power) and she was arrogant with it. It was especially galling during the time after ''ComicBook/HouseOfM'' when so many mutants lost their powers. Monet still had her multiple powers and would go around showing off her flight. Depowered but still grotesque Dreg-level mutants in Mutant Town would yell at her to stop flaunting as it offended them, but she'd tell them off and keep on showing them up.
** Gladiator of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard has affected this attitude in his more JerkAss moments. Being a cosmic {{Expy}} of Superman above justifies it somewhat, but he's just as often subjected to BreakTheHaughty scenarios. His attitude is further justified by his powers being affected by his emotional state: self-confidence makes him stronger while doubting himself can result in him temporarily losing them altogether.

Depowered but still grotesque Dreg-level mutants in Mutant Town would yell at her to stop flaunting as it offended them, but she'd tell them off and keep on showing them up. This behaviour did catch up with Monet in the ''ComicBook/WorldWarHulk'' saga, as she touts herself as invulnerable right to Hulk’s face — at which the Jade Giant punts her into the sky saying “Go be in invulnerable in Jersey”.

** [[Characters/MarvelComicsMagneto Magneto]] was introduced as this in the original Lee-Kirby run being a metal flinging supervillain asshole. Hell even after his deeply sympathetic Holocaust survivor background was established Mags still often displays extreme haughtiness and arrogance similar to his son Quicksilver. In ''ComicBook/SecretWars1984'' when finding himself among the heroes Magneto outright declared none of them were equal to him save Thor the PhysicalGod and in spite of multiple cases of this behaviour biting him on the ass or him coming over to the X-Men’s side he still not quite let go of his superpowered arrogance. Magneto tries justifying this attitude by saying a gentle and humble leader cannot protect mutantkind and DependingOnTheWriter if that sentiment is ultimately correct or not. It probably helps that Magneto was originally alike to Doctor Doom (one of the most egotistic characters in Marvel period) and while he went through DivergentCharacterEvolution, a lot of that early smug douchery still lingers on.

The Smug Super is a superhero or villain who knows they've won the SuperPowerLottery and won't hesitate to remind others, especially if they're beneath him on the SuperWeight scale. This character is similar to the SmugSnake, though rather than being manipulative and sneaky, he's very upfront about his opinion of himself and is an active fighter who is at least on an equal footing with the rest of the cast. Also, unlike the Smug Snake, he can be very enjoyable to see in action for the {{One Liner}}s they deliver. Likewise, he might fall over the edge into camp. These characters are more likely to experience ThisCannotBe moments than others on [[DefeatingTheUndefeatable the off chance they lose]].

** [[Characters/FantasticFourTheFantasticFour Reed Richards Mr Fantastic]] himself although a FamilyMan and ideal hero at heart is still shockingly arrogant as "The World's Smartest Man" and honestly believes only he can right the problems of the world. Reed was definitely worse when it came to this earlier on as he actively looked down Ben and Johnny as inferior to him even though they're arguably more devastating in combat with their powers compared to his stretchiness. Even later on Reed has fully shaken off his egotism as he still feels he can make decisions without his family the four, even though he needs them more than they need him.

** Barry himself despite usually being the NiceGuy can be written like this, such as at the beginning of the ComicBook/TheNew52 where he pushes and runs Superman and boasts that’s never been touched before Supes gives him the FingerPokeOfDoom. Even outside the New 52, Barry cannot help be pretty smug about how ludicrously fast he is like the infamous panel of him explaining he can perceive events in less than attosecond — yet inevitably [[AsStrongAsTheyNeedToBe still trips or is beaten by something as simple as slippery ice]] courtesy of Captain Cold.

** ComicBook/BlackPanther can fall into this. T’Challa is good man at heart but his arrogance at his abilities and status in the comics is colossal and he can’t help but look down his nose at Westerners and anyone who thinks they can be better hunter, scientist and king compared to him. It’s taken considerably effort from his family and allies such as Ramonda, Okoye and Storm to remind him of humility as well as T’Challa contrasted with far worse egomaniacs like Killmonger, Namor, Doom and Kraven. Still T’Challa can be pretty bad when it comes to this.
