* Pictured above: Kyoko from ''BlackCat'' is this towards Train. Granted, she ''does'' have superpowers, and kind of sort of worked for the BigBad (though she certainly doesn't ''act'' like it). She ends up [[LoveAtFirstSight falling in love at first sight]] with him when he [[RescueRomance saved her from some thugs]]. She proceeds to become his StalkerWithACrush, even crashing through the window of his apartment in the middle of the night while screaming his nickname ([[SayMyName "KURO-SAMAAAA!!"]]). All of this, of course, is [[ComedicSociopathy played for laughs]], seeing as how Train [[{{Asexuality}} would never return her feelings]]. She is never shown to get over it at the end, however.
* Sakura from ''{{Naruto}}'' crushed ''hard'' on Sasuke. Her current feelings regarding him are unresolved.
** On the other hand, Sakura is by no means unintelligent, as she had the second best grades in the ninja academy (behind her crush, go figure), and is shown on numerous occasions to be quite perceptive.
** While she did start off not knowing Sasuke, after becoming his teammate this changed. To the point that she met him on the road going out of Konoha because she alone correctly predicted he was going to leave.
** Arguably, she can be seen as a {{Deconstruction}} of the trope, as her crush and later love for Sasuke has brought the girl ''many'' problems.
** Hinata is one to Naruto, too. Her feelings for him develop more as the series progresses, though.
* The title character of ''CardcaptorSakura'' is ga-ga over her [[CakeEater older brother's best friend]]. Of course, it turns out [[spoiler:he's gay and in love with her older brother. She actually take it well and encourages their relationship, then falls for her male rival.]].
* Orihime Inoue from ''{{Bleach}}'' likes Ichigo at first because [[CloudCuckooLander she thinks his constant scowl is hilarious]]. However, as the series progresses and she gets to know him, her crush gradually grows into something deeper, and [[spoiler: the last thing she does before she leaves for Hueco Mundo is visit him while he's asleep and [[TearJerker tell him that if she could live for five lifetimes]], [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming she'd fall in love with him each time]]. And then comes the RescueArc.]]

* ''In NeonGenesisEvangelion'', Asuka Langley Soryu is smitten with the much older Ryōji Kaji. He's not interested in her, mostly because she's only thirteen. This being ''Evangelion'', she [[ClingyJealousGirl does not take this well]].
* In ''FinalFantasyUnlimited'', we have Lou Lupus, who falls madly in love with Kaze after he winds up saving her. He's enough of TheStoic to not really care when she attaches herself to his arm and doesn't let go, neither encouraging her nor discouraging her.

In some cases, she [[SaveTheWorld saves the world]] or [[TheyFightCrime fights crime]] in her spare time. This is a plus, as it keeps your attention away from the crush that often comes off poorly.

Rarely is she booksmart (but [[TomboyAndGirlyGirl her best friend]] usually is) at least above the average. She is not unattractive, even if she only has GenericCuteness.
