Separated from the others, Jubilee runs afoul of some native tribes in the Savage Land, and manages to best them in combat. When Logan meets up with her again on the Blackbird, he's informed that the people of the tribe mistook her for a boy and tried to betroth her to one of their princesses.

* ''ComicBook/{{Wolverine}}'': Wolverine's book is typically a very serious, and often grim story with more than a few grisly moments to it. But that's not to say that it's without humor.

* ''LightNovel/OthersidePicnic'': This is a series based on a good deal of Creepypasta, with frequent journeys into a parallel world fraught with dangers and a suggestion of a strange consciousness that seems to operate on BlueAndOrangeMorality. It also has:

* ''Anime/SpiceAndWolf'': A series with gripping drama focused on medieval economics and the goals and desires of a traveling merchant and the wolf-girl quasi-deity that he inadvertently picks up on his travels. However, there are more than a few humorous moments.
** In their very first meeting, Holo, the aforementioned wolf-girl, is angry at Lawrence for wielding a knife against her...until she realizes that he's not from the village, and is therefore not an "ungrateful beast". She cheerfully tells him to wield away. She also {{Troll}}s him by pretending to be meek and timid after he yells, only to then smirk at him trying to walk back his stern attitude.
** The pair take refuge in a church due to the rain. Holo is clearly having a field day toying with the fact that she, being a wolf, is a ShamelessFanserviceGirl, not at all concerned with her human form being sans apparel, but is ''fully'' aware of the effect that it has on Lawrence as they're wringing out their wet clothes.
** Holo doesn't get to have all the fun. in the last episode of the first season, after they're safe, Holo demands to know whether Lawrence called her name, or that of shepherdess Nora Arendt during the crisis. Lawrence sees Nora approaching, and Holo is grinning evilly. Then Lawrence notices the clock, pauses a few seconds, then shouts [[TheUnreveal a name as the church bells drown him out]]. Holo is infuriated, and starts pounding on his chest, while Lawrence clearly grins and makes an "I can't hear you" gesture to her.

** For the most part, "So Long, Spanky" is a VerySpecialEpisode about how DeathIsASadThing. However, it does have a RunningGag of a toad following D.W. around and her being annoyed by it.
** "Grandpa Dave's Memory Album" is quite a serious episode, focusing on Grandpa Dave starting to go senile. However, there is one comedic scene where Francine's grandmother notes that, since people are mostly water, drinking water is like "drinking more you''.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'': Most of "Mother's Day" is rather dark, since it reveals that the reason Chuckie has a MissingMom is because she died in the hospital. However, there is one scene, where Stu invents a machine to do the duties of a mother, that's PlayedForLaughs.

** While "[[Recap/SouthParkS5E13KennyDies Kenny Dies]]" is a very somber episode (The creators have gone on record to say that they "wanted to see how long they could go without telling a single joke.") about [[LittlestCancerPatient Kenny succumbing to a muscular ailment]], it does have some comic relief, such as Kenny [[TakeThat insulting Madonna]] and Kyle beating the shit out of Cartman for [[SkewedPriorities using the stem cells to build a second Shakey's instead of saving Kenny with them]].
** "[[Recap/SouthParkS16E5Butterballs Butterballs]]" is about Butters [[GruesomeGrandparent being abused by his cruel grandmother]] while Stan won't do anything on his behalf and is more interested in cashing off him for fame. It has a serious premise, but also contains a few moments of comedic relief such as [[NakedPeopleAreFunny Stan getting naked in San Diego]] and the kids making a very ironic anti-bullying music video about [[HypocriticalHumor how you have to stomp out bullying by bullying the act of bullying itself]].

** In "Dying for Pie", Squidward believes that [=SpongeBob=] has eaten an exploding pie he gave him, and thus will die at sunset. The scene that counts down to [=SpongeBob=]'s supposed death, which is played seriously, starts with a joke that Squidward has built a brick wall between them to protect himself from the inevitable explosion.
** "Have You Seen This Snail?" is one of the most serious episodes of the series, dealing with [=SpongeBob=]'s depression after his pet has run away. However, Patrick serves as a comic relief character, having jokes like being excited over [[MundaneObjectAmazement seeing balsa wood]] or accidentally screwing up [=SpongeBob=]'s "Gary Come Home" skywriting into "Lisa Will You Marry Me?", causing a nearby man to be MistakenForCheating.
