* ''Manga/MarOmega'' continues on after ''Anime/{{MAR}}''

* ''Manga/AngelHeart'' was originally a sequel series to ''Manga/CityHunter'' before fan backlash for [[spoiler:killing off Kaoru]] led to it being declared an Alternate Continuity.

** ''ComicBook/The AvengersMarkWaid'' picks up where ''ComicBook/AllNewAllDifferentAvengers'' left off and continues the plot threads from there that are left out of ''Champions''. Also counts as a slight example to ''Hercules (2015)'' due to including Hercules and continuing his quest to redeem himself.

* ''Franchise/HarryPotter'' got a prequel series in the form of ''Fantastic Beasts'', [[Film/FantasticBeastsAndWhereToFindThem a planned]] [[Film/FantasticBeastsTheCrimesOfGrindelwald five-film followup]] that takes place decades[[note]]The first is set 65 years before, while the last is expected to take place 46 years before[[/note]] prior to the events of ''Film/HarryPotterAndThePhilosophersStone''. The series contains wholly new material lifted from no book in particular (unless you count its namesake, ''Literature/FantasticBeastsAndWhereToFindThem'', a {{Defictionalization}} of the universe' bestiary regarding, well, fantastic beasts), but since Creator/JKRowling is the screenwriter, it is considered a canonical entry to the franchise.

* On top of six main novels, ''Literature/TheMortalInstruments'' series has received a sequel and prequel trilogies and is set to receive one more prequel trilogy (fun fact: [[TrilogyCreep Cassandra Clare originally planned to write three books]]. [[CashCowFranchise Now there are twelve, not counting spin-offs and supplementary materials]].)

** ''Literature/TheDarkArtifices'' is set four years after the epilogue of the original series.
** The upcoming trilogy, ''The Last Hours'' will be set 25 years after ''The Infernal Devices'', making it an ''interquel'' series.

* ''Series/TheWhiteQueen'', focused on Elizabeth Woodville, is followed by ''Series/TheWhitePrincess'', focused on her daughter Elizabeth of York, in turn followed by ''Series/TheSpanishPrincess'', focused on ''her'' daughter-in-law Catherine of Aragon.

* ''Series/TheWhiteQueen'' is followed by ''Series/TheWhitePrincess'', in turn followed by ''Series/TheSpanishPrincess''.

* ''Series/QuantumLeap2022'' is a continuation of the original ''Series/QuantumLeap'', focusing on a new incarnation of Project Quantum Leap and a new lead character, Ben Song, who ends up in the same situation as Sam Beckett.

* ''WesternAnimation/AvengersAssemble'' is not a sequel to ''WesternAnimation/TheAvengersEarthsMightiestHeroes'' in any way, although it tried to create the impression that it's either this or an AlternateContinuity sequel to ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'' film. In fact, it's neither, since it's actually set in the [[WesternAnimation/MarvelUniverse same universe]] as ''WesternAnimation/UltimateSpiderMan2012'' and ''WesternAnimation/HulkAndTheAgentsOfSMASH''

''Sharivan'', which retained characters from ''Gavan'', was itself followed by ''Series/SpaceSheriffShaider'', the last of the ''Space Sheriff'' trilogy'' which saw the three Space Sheriffs unite in the finale. Similarly, ''Series/TokkeiWinspector'' is followed by ''Series/TokkyuuShireiSolbrain'', the foundation of the eponymous team being set up in the final episodes of ''Winspector''. ''Solbrain'', which inherited characters from ''Winspector'', was itself followed by the more standalone ''Series/TokusouExceedraft'', the last of the ''Rescue Police'' trilogy which saw TheMentor for ''Winspector'' and ''Solbrain'' come BackForTheFinale. ''Series/JuukouBFighter'' is followed by ''Series/BFighterKabuto'', which takes place five years later.

** ''Naruto Shippuden'' takes place 2-3 years after the original ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' anime. This is strictly anime business, however; Masashi Kishimoto considers both as part of one series with no break in-between. Instead, they are separated by six prequel chapters unofficially called ''Kakashi Gaiden'' (the anime infamously inserted loads upon loads of filler episodes in their place to give time for the manga to catch up. ''Kakashi Gaiden'' was adapted to animation much later).

* ''Literature/TheMouseWatch'' is one to ''WesternAnimation/ChipNDaleRescueRangers''. Gadget is the BigGood who created the titular HeroesRUs organization, while Chip and Dale make a {{Cameo}}. ([[invoked]]WordOfGod is that Monterey Jack and Zipper aren't in the first three books, but will probably appear if the series continues.)

* ''Franchise/DragonBall'' is a strange example. When the anime got to the start of the Saiyan Arc, Creator/{{Toei}} changed the name to ''Anime/DragonBallZ''. For decades fans assumed this made ''Z'' a Sequel Series; after all this ''is'' where the action ramps up higher than ever before, the characters go to space, and Goku reckons with his Saiyan heritage. But as revealed in [[https://www.forbes.com/sites/olliebarder/2016/10/15/kazuhiko-torishima-on-shaping-the-success-of-dragon-ball-and-the-origins-of-dragon-quest/#49d0437225e5 a 2016 interview]], it was actually to [[MoneyDearBoy get more promotion money by changing the title of the existing show]], making it a case of NewSeasonNewName. Case in point? ''Dragon Ball Z'' aired in ''Dragon Ball'''s timeslot without skipping a beat, and makes no effort to introduce new viewers to the Dragon World.

* ''Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration'', ''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'', and ''Series/StarTrekVoyager'' were all concurrently running sequel series to ''Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries''. The prequels were ''Series/StarTrekEnterprise'' and ''Series/StarTrekDiscovery''. ''Series/StarTrekPicard'' is the third-generation sequel series.
* Similarly, ''Series/StargateSG1'', ''Series/StargateAtlantis'', and ''Series/StargateUniverse'' are all sequels to ''{{Film/Stargate}}''.

* ''Film/JurassicWorld'', ''Film/JurassicWorldFallenKingdom'' and ''Film/JurassicWorldDominions'' are this to the ''Franchise/JurassicPark'' films.

* Several incarnations of the ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'' franchise have received revivals and continuations of sorts.
** ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' was rather explicitly a sequel series to ''Franchise/TransformersGeneration1'', though it takes place [[TimeyWimeyBall before ]] ''[[TimeyWimeyBall and]]'' [[TimeyWimeyBall after it]], and uses elements from both [[WesternAnimation/TheTransformers the G1 cartoon]] and [[ComicBook/TheTransformersMarvel the comic]] - WordOfGod states that Generation 1 has become like Arthurian legend to them, with the stories we know being their distortions of "actual" history. In turn, ''Beast Wars'' was given its own Sequel Series called ''WesternAnimation/BeastMachines''.
** ''Anime/TransformersArmada'' was followed by ''Anime/TransformersEnergon'' and (after some ExecutiveMeddling to try and make it fit into the timeline) ''Anime/TransformersCybertron''. Collectively they later became known as the Unicron Trilogy.
** ''WesternAnimation/TransformersRobotsInDisguise2015'' is a follow-up to ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime''.
** ''WesternAnimation/TransformersRescueBots'' has ''[[WesternAnimation/TransformersRescueBotsAcademy Rescue Bots Academy]]'' which premiered in 2018.

* Creator/{{Nicktoons}}'s ''WesternAnimation/VoltronForce'' is this to the [[Anime/{{Voltron}} original series]] from several decades ago, though only 5 to 7 years have passed in-story. Its unclear, however, if ''WesternAnimation/VoltronTheThirdDimension'' is still canon ([[BroadStrokes at least in part]]) or [[CanonDiscontinuity not]].

* ''WesternAnimation/SpeedRacerTheNextGeneration'', taking place 40 years after the events in [[Anime/SpeedRacer the 1967 anime]].
* ''WesternAnimation/AvengersAssemble'' is not a sequel to ''WesternAnimation/TheAvengersEarthsMightiestHeroes'' in any way, although it tried to create the impression that it's either this or an AlternateContinuity sequel to ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'' film. * ''WesternAnimation/CareBearsAndCousins'' is essentially one to ''WesternAnimation/CareBearsWelcomeToCareALot'', with the same main bears and villain, but reintroduced the cousins.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheMrPeabodyAndShermanShow'' is set after the ''WesternAnimation/MrPeabodyAndSherman'' movie, with their life as time travelers out in the open at the end of the movie, the duo decide to share their stories in the form of a variety show.
* Inverted a bit with ''WesternAnimation/{{Dofus}}'', with the show being a prequel to another property in the same universe, ''WesternAnimation/{{Wakfu}}''.

* ''WesternAnimation/MiloMurphysLaw'' begins with the first day of school after the summer which ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'' took place during, with both shows taking place in a shared universe. From time-to-time throughout the first season, characters mention incidents that happened during their summer break that was the result of Phineas and Ferb's actions, such as the boys' rollercoaster falling out of the sky into one of their backyards. The second season would have some characters from ''Phineas and Ferb'' become part of the supporting cast as well.

* The 2022 Creator/DisneyJunior series ''WesternAnimation/AlicesWonderlandBakery'' takes place after the events of [[WesternAnimation/AliceInWonderland the 1951 movie that inspired it]]. The show focuses on Alice, the great-granddaughter of the original Alice alongside other Descendants of famous Wonderland characters (with the exception of The Doorknob and The Cheshire Cat) who are working at Wonderland Bakery.

* ''Anime/KamisamaMinaraiHimitsuNoCocotama'', based on [[Creator/BandaiNamcoEntertainment Bandai]]'s Cocotama toyline, was given a sequel (which is also a spin-off) series in ''Anime/KiraKiraHappyHirakeCocotama''.
