** Fanartists tend to draw stars on the foreheads or all over the body of the Clan leader, due to the fact cats receive nine lives and their names end with the suffix "-star" when they become leader, although not a signal book ever mention any of the Clan leaders ever having physical stars on their bodies anywhere.

** A downplayed example occurs with Dad Egbert[=/=][[spoiler:Crocker]]--in-comic, he's TheBlank except for his nose, but it's made clear that this isn't diegetic and meant to be more RuleOfSymbolism due to John's perspective. Fans, as a result, tend to depict him as a StandardFiftiesFather. While this is not inaccurate, one blink-and-you-miss-it update implies that Dad is bald, which clashes with the fandom's tendency to depict him with some nicely coiffed hair (granted, it isn't clear how much of the baldness implication was meant to be taken at face value or simply a meta joke as Homestuck is wont to do).

** The description of Wormtongue in the books, similar to Snape, is pretty off-putting. But, the actor who played him in the movies was HollywoodHomely, so he tends to get depicted much more favorably by fans. It helps that he's a manipulative villain.
** The description of the dwarves found in the books isn't terribly attractive to humans. But you'd never guess that from the fan depictions of Gimli, or indeed of Thorin. They tend to given a looks upgrade because they have attractive enough personality traits that fans want to ship them with other characters. It'd be hard to justify a Legolas/Gimli fanfic if you drew the dwarf looking the way dwarves do in the books.

* ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'':
** Misty, May, and Dawn receive insane amounts of fanart in which they are aged up, complete with everything that comes with puberty, and Dawn's DangerouslyShortSkirt is often [[PantyShot taken advantage of]] when it's mostly a MagicSkirt in-universe. Some of the former [[MostFanficWritersAreFemale is the work of the female fanbase - it comes from having a romance subplot]] with the [[ChasteHero Chaste]] IdiotHero and the need to make her a plausible LoveTriangle center in fanfiction, justified in part by how Misty's sisters look...[[MostWritersAreMale but for the most part it's the guys]]. This was less commonly seen with Iris, but Serena is similarly altered, and it is not uncommon with the ''Sun and Moon'' girls, though not to the same level as Misty, May, Dawn, and Serena.
** Ash, Gary, Drew, Paul, Kenny, Cilan, and Clemont also have their share of fangirls as well; even Tracey has some. (Tracey usually does match his description and characterization, though.) Oddly, the only main character without hordes of fangirls is probably Brock. Fanart of the boys usually has them looking mostly like their canon versions, though aged-up fanart has a high chance of presenting everyone as tall and slightly muscular (with Gary and Paul usually being taller than Ash). In ''Sun and Moon'' and ''Journeys''-specific works, however, Ash is usually drawn smaller and cuter than his teammates due to his design in those seasons looking younger and more boyish compared to how he looked in ''X and Y''.
*** An emerging trend for Ash that started in 2018 is to depict his older self with CarpetOfVirility and being fairly muscular.
** Mothers in the series usually get drawn at MILF levels regardless of their original bodytype. Delia Ketchum and Lana's mom, for example, are depicted with full figures and large hips despite their canonically petite sizes, and Lusamine tends to go up several cup sizes from her canon slender physique (for more on Lusamine, see the game section). This is seen with other mothers, like Caroline and Johanna, but to a lesser extent.
* ''Franchise/DragonBall'':
** Given how fanboys (and fangirls) hyped him up, you probably wouldn't think that Vegeta was a perpetually scowling midget in ''Anime/DragonBallZ''.
** Some fanart of ''Anime/DragonballGT'' will depict Bra ([[YoungerThanTheyLook who's canonically 8 years old, but looks like a young teen]]) as suddenly being much more developed than she is in the show, especially with her chest. The assumption is that apparently [[GenerationXerox she'll look exactly like her mother when she grows up]].
** Pan (who actually looks like a child) is prone to getting the aged-up treatment. As well as [[Manga/DragonBall young Chi-chi]], normally by way of having her adult self fill out her younger self's [[ChainmailBikini armor]].
** Young Bulma who was 16 years old in the original ''Manga/DragonBall'' will often be drawn with more buxom and hips.
** The trend continues during ''Anime/DragonBallSuper'' with the Saiyans from Universe 6, Caulifla and Kale. They are short, rather flat in their base form, lacking any sort of muscle definition (well, with the exception of Kale who goes full Broly, but her controlled form is the epitome of AmazonianBeauty). In fanart, however, they are drawn full MsFanservice. Cabba, from the same universe, get this to a lesser extent, but mostly giving him more muscle (since he lacks any sort of muscle, looking like he has noodles for arms).
* The eponymous characters of ''Manga/{{Akagi}}'' and ''Manga/{{Kaiji}}'' are often getting their (rather... bizarre) faces [[GenericCuteness turned more into standard]] {{Bishonen}} style. [[http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/5654/whattheyseewhatitis.gif Case in point...]]
** The women (''especially'' [[AbhorrentAdmirer Mikoko Sakazaki]]) also get this treatment fairly regularly.
* ''Manga/OnePiece'': Although most of the characters with {{Estrogen Brigade}}s are already conventionally good-looking or otherwise close to it, and therefore do not warrant SelfFanservice, Spandam - much reviled by male fans as a fugly SmugSnake, but DracoInLeatherPants to more than a few female fans - often gets this treatment.
* ''Franchise/PrettyCure'':
** Fan art has a tendency to depict the (usually middle school-aged, often flat-chested) girls with ''distinctly'' more mature bodies.
** [[EnsembleDarkhorse Wolfrun]] from ''Anime/SmilePrettyCure'' gets his muscle-mass exaggerated in most fanart.
* Nnoitra, the [[MemeticMolester creepy]], spoon-wearing, BloodKnight with weird teeth from ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' gets turned into a {{Bishonen}} in a lot of fanart.
** [[MadScientist Mayuri Kurotsuchi]] is susceptible to this as well, though note he mostly looks so freaky because of make-up; without it, [[http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/bleach/en/images/4/4b/Mayuri_without_a_mask_by_Painaholic.jpg he's not really bad looking]] (although he is missing an ear).
* This happens to 90% of the characters in ''Manga/{{Naruto}}''. Hinata is described by the databooks as rather plain and bookish, but fanart tends to make her out to be this gorgeous goddess. Sakura has a small chest and large forehead, and fanart tends to make her out to be a goddess, too.
* Some people are trying to figure out what Shinigami-sama from ''Manga/SoulEater'' looks like behind his mask. Of course, since his son is the somewhat Bishounen Death The Kid, people think that he must be even more [[http://mikageakizuki.deviantart.com/art/Gijinka-Shinigami-sama-107450662 good-looking.]]
** On a different note, this may be a moot point since every single time his clothes were damaged, it was quite obviously visible that he had no physical body underneath that shroud.
** The manga has, in fact, indicated that Shinigami ''might'' have/had a human form at one point: Mosquito knows what the Lines of Sanzu are (which Shinigami doesn't obviously have at the moment), and Kid is a sort-of clone of Shinigami.
** Maka occasionally gets this as well, albeit to a lesser extent; granted, she's fairly cute to begin with, but some fans seemed to miss the memo that she's above an A-cup.
** [[MadScientist Stein]] too. He's ''far'' from ugly (he's considered attractive in a weird way both InUniverse and out), but a lot of fanart depicts him as a generic {{Bishounen}}.
*** His ShirtlessScene in the anime revealed he's quite well-built. Cue the fans drawing him like a bodybuilder.
* ''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'', [[CastFullOfPrettyBoys of all series]], gets some of this too. There's a Cuba/Canada doujinshi somewhere where, aside of having super {{Moe}} Canada, turns Cuba, who in canon is [[BigFun a chubby]] and HotBlooded JerkWithAHeartOfGold, into a [[TallDarkAndHandsome slim, suave, and super handsome]] LatinLover. Even though one of the main charms of the Cuba/Canada pairing is to have a ''non''-traditionally-handsome guy getting the romantic attention of another male and thus proving that [[TrueBeautyIsOnTheInside looks don't matter.]]
** England sometimes gets hit with a milder version of this trope. While the majority of his fans do recognize that his [[{{Tsundere}} combative personality]] and BigOlEyebrows are his major {{Charm Point}}s and leave them intact, there are still some who "improve" him by softening his personality to make him into an unironic gentleman (even though England being hilariously ''un''suited for the gentlemanliness he claims to possess in [[CovertPervert so]] [[CantHoldHisLiquor many]] [[ClusterFBomb ways]] is one of the defining marks of his character).
** The huge lot of Russia fanarts in which he's slimmed down to a generic bishounen build and [[GagNose his nose]] is suddenly tiny and upturned.
** While Taiwan [[TheCutie is a very pretty girl]] and [[{{Moe}} is referred to as such in canon]], her breast size often goes from "on the average-to-small" side to "Ukraine level".
*** The same can be said of Belarus. Since breast size tends to be genetic and she's Ukraine's sister, it can be justified, but it's rather jarring when fanon "bust charts" portray her as bigger than Hungary, or some fanarts that make her ''bigger than Ukraine''.
*** [[CoolBigSis Belgium]] also gets this treatment occasionally, which may be justified as she's usually wearing heavy clothing in canon, but during the 2010 Christmas event we actually get to see her in her bra, and she has a very average-sized chest.
*** Although age tends to be vague, the younger-looking Liechtenstein, Seychelles, and Wy get aged up quite often in fanart, sometimes to the point where it's a bit jarring.
** America is shown shirtless in canon. While he's no lightweight, his muscles are still about half the size fandom commonly portrays them.
*** A similar case with Thailand whose body muscle (as shown in ''Manga/HetaliaBloodbath2010'') is kinda normal, is buffed up in [[http://www.zerochan.net/930966 fan]] [[http://www.lolibaka.com/beta/post/show/256814 art]]. Then again, these arts often go by the {{fanon}} of him being into Muay Thai (the national Thai sport), which requires any practitioner to have rather heavy musculature.
** France's body hair can be greatly reduced or absent in fanart. Same with Turkey and Grandpa Rome, but they've got a huge LGBTFanbase following that love it.
** Prussia is sometimes drawn as far more muscular than he is in canon. Sometimes he'll have the same amount of muscle (or even more) as his brother in the same fanart.
** North Italy's cuteness will often be changed to handsomeness.
** Once in a while, Fandom will raise Latvia's height to around 170 cm.
* ''Anime/{{Ponyo|On The Cliff By The Sea}}''[='s=] father, Fujimoto, often loses his long nose and wrinkles in fanart.
* ''Manga/SlamDunk'': In canon, the characters are generally good-looking but [[RatedMForManly in the most masculine way possible.]] Fan artists tend to forget this and draw them as generically pretty.
* Creator/JunjiIto's character Souichi has a small but vocal amount of fans. You know, the creepy, occult-obsessed nail-biting anemic boy (and in a dream, psycopathic manchild, who tends to get most of the love).
* ''LightNovel/FateZero'': Kariya Matou wasn't the prettiest person alive, [[http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111002000757/typemoon/images/thumb/8/8d/NormalKariya.png/698px-NormalKariya.png even before he had the worms transplanted in him,]] but since [[BeautyEqualsGoodness he's such a generous person]] some artists have seen fit to [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/1160802/1boy-4girls-adult-black_hair-blue_eyes-child-dress give]] [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/1055367/1boy-1girl-aya_tori-black_eyes-black_hair-carrying him]] [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/1061318/1girl-2boys-armor-berserker_-fate-zero-cacaococoa- a]] [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/1187720/1boy-2girls-alternate_costume-arm_hug-black_hair-b more]] [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/1141074/1boy-cat-command_spell-fate-zero-fate_-series-flow palatable]] [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/1097153/1boy-_-ahoge-black_hair-closed_eyes-fate-zero-fate appearance]], sometimes even downplaying the popped veins in his infected form and turning him into a PrettyBoy who just happens to have a bit of a facial distortion.
* If you took a look at fanart for ''LightNovel/FateApocrypha''[='s=] Astolfo/Rider of Black, you would find that his [[DudeLooksLikeALady androgynous-bordering-on-girly looks]] gets amplified to outright "female save for that ''one'' body part" levels, curves and all.
* Kurogane from ''Manga/TsubasaReservoirChronicle''. He ''is'' genuinely attractive (just very, very masculine), but fangirls tend to portray him as a skinny, feminine {{bishonen}}. Some fanartists do the exact opposite and draw him with so much bulk you wonder how his armor still fits.
* Some ''Manga/{{Trigun}}'' fanart reduces the amount of scars Vash has, but part of it also has to do with the fact [[LazyArtist that they're very complicated and hard to draw]].
* ''Manga/{{Hellsing}}'':
** [[BadassPreacher Alexander Anderson]] tends to become a {{Bishounen}} in fanart. His fanbase, on the other hand, tends to make him a hulking tower of muscle.
** Jan is often drawn as a {{bishounen}}, sometimes an even bigger one than his brother.
* There is a ton of fanart depicting Renamon from ''Anime/DigimonTamers'' with more tits and ass than she normally has. Renamon is human-sized and has a more adult personality than most of the other {{Mons}} in the franchise, so she's shippable... but looks like a FunnyAnimal at best and canonically has NoBiologicalSex, which fanartists are more than happy to add. Guilmon is also given more humanlike body proportions in fanart.
* Though ''Manga/FairyTail'' already has a lot of {{Fanservice}} and all of the major and minor characters being drawn to be highly attractive there are still two cases of this. Levy is the [[WorldOfBuxom only post-puberty character with a flat chest]], while fanart tends to draw her either being [[WorldOfBuxom just as well-endowed as everyone else]] or increasing her breast size by at least a cup. Such as [[http://browse.deviantart.com/art/Levy-McGarden-353103815 here]] and [[http://browse.deviantart.com/art/Levy-McGarden-276774322 here.]] Wendy gets aged up in fanart [[ShesAllGrownUp with everything that comes with it.]] It's supported by her [[AlternateUniverse Edolas]] counterpart being older and drawn to be just as attractive as everyone else. [[NoYay Sometimes it doesn't]] [[{{Squick}} age her up.]]
** [[MrFanservice Gray]] is fairly fit in the series, but fanartists have a tendency to draw him ''huge''.
* ''Manga/KotouraSan'' has an InUniverse example: [[AllMenArePerverts Manabe]]'s fantasies about [[ACupAngst Haruka]] always have her being much curvier than she actually is.
* ''Manga/KurokosBasketball'' gets this a lot, as the basketball players are actually drawn well-muscled (although it comes into play after ArtEvolution in the manga), possibly in homage to old school shounen like ''Manga/SlamDunk'' along with keeping their physiques realistic; in the flood of art drawn by fangirls on Pixiv and elsewhere, though, they're very much slimmed down, sometimes to the point one is left to question whether one is watching the same show as the fanartist... An interesting counterpoint to this would be in the era of ''Slam Dunk'', when YaoiGenre doujinshi began to become prominent; possibly due to its newness and the art styles popular at the time, artists stuck to the proportions given to the characters in the anime and manga instead of slimming them down into the {{Bishounen}} style that's become ever-more popular today.
* Aikuro Mikisugi of ''Anime/KillLaKill'' who is already attractive, but often drawn more beefy and rugged by the show's bara fandom. Same goes for the canonically big Gamagoori and Tsumugu.
* ''Anime/CodeGeass'':
** It's surprisingly common in fanart to give the canonically non-athletic Lelouch more muscles. Though in some cases, it's more about [[AdaptationalBadass increasing his perceived badassery]] than this trope.
** Some people like giving C.C. a higher cup size than she had in canon.
* While certainly by no means ugly, Usada Hikaru, aka Rabi~en~Rose from ''Anime/DiGiCharat'', tends to be drawn by fans to have a much bigger bust than even [[ArtShift the occasional changes in art style]] would have you believe, perhaps more than any other character in the series. Her costume may have something to do with it.
* While his manga version did hit a growth spurt, Edward in the 2003 ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemist'' anime is short even as an adult. In ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemistTheConquerorOfShamballa'', it's shown that Noah is several centimeters taller than him and Winry is still taller than him. In fanworks, though? He's almost always depicted as taller than he canonically is (unless he is depicted in a BoysLove setting where he might be even ''more'' small and cute to compliment his often-hypermasculine partner).
* It's very common for BL doujin artists to draw Daisuke Jigen from ''Anime/LupinTheThird'' with younger, more bishounen facial features, to the point where the character can barely be recognized. Lupin also gets this too, to a lesser extent.
* ''Anime/OsomatsuSan'' fanart usually changes the boys from their goofy, cylindrical selves to practically black-haired {{Palette Swap}}s of their F6 counterparts with lighter versions of their original personalities. [[http://i.imgur.com/GS1lm5Y.jpg Case in point.]] For the fans that don't, their bodies suddenly gain more detail and definition than they originally had (Karamatsu having a toned build, Ichimatsu being chubby (due to his eating habits) or fairly skinny (due to not taking care of himself) with a prominent butt, Jyushimatsu hiding tons of muscle under his hoodie, etc.)
* Shigeo usually gets turned from a fairly plain-looking boy with a bowl cut to a youthful, adorable child in ''Manga/MobPsycho100'' art. Reigen usually gets dialed up from "normal" to "breathtaking hunk in a nice suit" to match. The strangest case would probably have to go to Dimple; while he's merely a green wisp in canon, fans near-universally portray him in the body of the security guard he possessed during the Scar arc, though he's given the {{Biseinen}} treatment for good measure.
* Fans of ''Manga/PopTeamEpic'' tend to upgrade the girls from funky-looking tweens to regularly cute teens. Popuko gets to be the short, flat-chested spunky one, while all the thickness on Pipimi's neck gets to be transferred to an equally stacked rack (or of they're feeling like it, making her a full fledged BigBeautifulWoman). If you've ever wanted to read [[RunningGag the Blu-Ray edition]] of the strip, this is it. The gag eventually came full circle with the anime adaptation, where the DVD covers are done in the usual art style, [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DVsNxv6W0AA-_gm.jpg while the Blu-Ray covers have a more realistic style.]]
* Tsuyu Asui of ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' is about as far from ugly as you can get, but fan artists tend to push it even further by downplaying her frog-like characteristics, most often shrinking her mouth down. Similarly, Aizawa is generally cleaned up to look less shabby-looking and Izuku Midoriya varies from region to region, tending to be leaner in the East than the West but generally always given additional musculature atop of his canon muscles (without even getting into the idea of him having an equivalent appearance to All Might's hero form).
** Bakugo probably has it the roughest, with simultaneous depictions of him as a toned ikemen and a teenaged beefcake.
** Ever since the Pro Hero arc started giving more focus to Endeavor, fans' depictions of Endeavor lightened up considerably along with their opinion of him. While he is large, muscular, and square-jawed in-series, his fanart brings his appearance up to Bara levels of hunkiness.
** The mothers of the aforementioned Bakugo, Mitsuki Bakugo, and Kyoko Jiro, Mika Jiro, are frequently given a lot more curves and bust than they actually are drawn with.
* It's quite common for ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'' fanartists to soften the unique style and make the characters into more generic {{Bishonen}} and {{Hunk}}s. The anime, especially of the [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventurePhantomBlood earlier]] [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureBattleTendency parts]], was already [[AdaptationalAttractiveness somewhat guilty of this]], but the EstrogenBrigade produces SelfFanservice [[MemeticMutation on a whole nother level]].
** ''Manga/BattleTendency''[='s=] [[OurVampiresAreDifferent Pillar Men]] get this a lot. [[https://geekireland.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/70bfe95629bd5f2a1821a625db7a4e99a54af0bf_hq.jpg Canon]]: [[UncannyValley frighteningly muscular]] {{Humanoid Abomination}}s. Fanon: more humanly proportioned [[{{Hunk}} beefcakes]], although Kars' relatively feminine features are often [[LongHairedPrettyBoy exaggerated]] as well.
** Noriaki Kakyoin from ''Manga/StardustCrusaders'' is already a [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/jjba/images/7/75/NoriakiKakyoin.png/revision/latest?cb=20170316072208 rather]] [[https://static.jojowiki.com/images/thumb/6/67/Kakyoin_Infobox_Manga.png/270px-Kakyoin_Infobox_Manga.png attractive]] {{Bishounen}}, but that's really only in comparison to the rest of the Crusaders. Fan art tends to depict him as much more androgynous, usually [[{{Wimpification}} so he can be an uke for Jotaro]]. It didn't help that in the 2014 anime adaptation, he was voiced by Creator/DaisukeHirakawa, who was in [[Anime/{{Free}} a very fangirl-friendly series]].
** ''Manga/VentoAureo'':
*** [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/jjba/images/a/a6/Pesci_Anime.png/revision/latest?cb=20190125201225 Pesci]] is one of the biggest {{Gonk}}s in the series, what with the lack of neck and [[AnimeHair hair that makes him look like a pineapple]]. But because he's such a dorky character, fan art likes to portray him as much cuter than he actually is.
*** [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/jjba/images/a/a6/Ghiaccio_infobox_anime.png/revision/latest?cb=20190210101934 While he's nowhere near ugly]], [[HairTriggerTemper Ghiaccio]]'s [[https://static.jojowiki.com/images/thumb/0/0a/Ghiaccio_Infobox_Manga.png/270px-Ghiaccio_Infobox_Manga.png constantly exaggerated]] [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/jjba/images/1/1a/GhiaccioBestSquad.png/revision/latest?cb=20181208050504 facial expressions]] tends to make him look [[{{Gonk}} rather odd]]. A lot of fan art likes to portray him as a {{Megane}} {{Bishounen}}.
** ''Manga/SteelBallRun'':
*** [[spoiler:[[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/jjba/images/f/f9/Hot_Pants.png/revision/latest?cb=20150212160734 Hot Pants]]]] is a {{Bifauxnen}} to the point of being able to [[SweetPollyOliver convincingly disguise herself as a man]], but fanart likes to portray her as much more feminine-looking than she actually is.
*** Some fanart of [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/jjba/images/4/40/ScaryMonstercolor.png/revision/latest/top-crop/width/720/height/900?cb=20151127131451 Diego Brando]] in his [[{{Animorphism}} Scary Monsters form]] makes him a [[https://gree3art.tumblr.com/post/171232408043/feathered-dino-brando-because-feathered-dinos-are cuter]] [[RaptorAttack dinosaur]] and gives him feathers.
* ''Manga/WastefulDaysOfHighSchoolGirls'' has an InUniverse example. When Tanaka enters an ImagineSpot, she is always curvier in that story than she actually is (the flattest of the cast). Robo actually points it out.

* [[SelfFanservice/WesternAnimation Western Animation]]

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'':
** Fans who redo the characters in a more realistic style have a habit of drawing Finn as a slim, cute boy with EternallyPearlyWhiteTeeth, flowing blond hair, and maybe a gap between two teeth or a missing one. In the show, Finn is missing a good portion of his teeth, according to WordOfGod genuinely has [[TheNoseless no nose]], and is on the [[StoutStrength pudgy side]] rather than wiry or ripped. His hair really is that gorgeous, though.
** The girls get this treatment too, for example artists will turn [[NerdsAreSexy Princess Bubblegum]], [[EvilIsSexy Marceline]], and [[FieryRedhead Flame Princess]] into [[MsFanservice Ms. Fanservices]]. Heck, even Lumpy Space Princess (who on-screen is a floating BlobMonster whose only human features are her face and hands) is depicted as a {{BBW}}.
* ''WesternAnimation/AtomicPuppet'': Despite being a 12-year-old girl, Pauline gets ''a lot'' of fanart depicting her as being extremely sexy, wearing revealing clothes or having enlarged breasts or hips.
* ''WesternAnimation/ChipAndDaleRescueRangers'': Gadget Hackwrench, hoo boy. Canonically she's already considered quite attractive by pretty much the entire fandom, but her proportions are a little skinny, with short rodent legs and a low crotch similar to Chip or Dale. The vast majority of fan artists, however, humanize those proportions to the point that most of it looks like a completely human body (often far more voluptuous than canon) with Gadget's head stuck on the top and a tail (though, to be fair, her proportions did fluctuate from episode to episode). Her human resemblance, especially compared to the rest of the (mostly male) cast, has also made her one of the most popular furry targets of RuleThirtyFour art since the early days of the UsefulNotes/FurryFandom.
* Happens quite a lot with ''WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor'' fan-art, which is inevitable considering 90% of the cast is under 13 and the art style isn't exactly sexy. But that still doesn't explain drawing Numbuhs 3 and 5 with ''large breasts''. What fangirls do to Numbuh 2 (and to a lesser extent the other boys) ''must be seen to be believed''. Thankfully, this tends to age everyone up into at least teens.
* A lot of fan art of the ''WesternAnimation/CourageTheCowardlyDog'' character Shirley the Medium makes her taller and more curvaceous, when her canon depiction is very short and not even remotely voluptuous.
* ''WesternAnimation/DanVs'': Though Dan has a tendency to be portrayed as a generic pretty-boy in some fan works, this actually tends to be subverted more of the time: most fangirls [[UglyCute like him just the way he is]].
* Due perhaps to heavy abuse of ThickLineAnimation, ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'' has enourmous amounts of this, mostly directed towards the female characters such as Maddie, Danny's mother.
* ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory'':
** [[ScienceHero Dexter]] and [[TheRival Mandark]] get a ton of this (despite being weird-looking in canon) in the fandom. Expect Dexter to become a cute shota and Mandark the definiton of NerdsAreSexy. ''VideoGame/FusionFall'' and its older and {{bishonen}} Dexter didn't help.
** Dee-Dee is drawn by the fans to look like [[HartmanHips her mother]].
* Heck, there's even ''WesternAnimation/DoraTheExplorer''. [[http://www.deviantart.com/art/Hola-Dora-151101131 Especially in those shorts...]]
* Venger from ''WesternAnimation/DungeonsAndDragons'' is sometimes illustrated by fans as a beautiful slab of beefcake with long flowing hair under his cowl.
* ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'', of all things:
** GenericCuteness (...and {{Yaoi Fangirl}}s/the RelationshipSue) struck the titular trio hard, but especially Double-D. Eddy loses his tan and loses weight. Edd is usually rather androgynous, cutesy, and often has long black hair, medium length black hair, or medium length blond hair. Ed grows short hair (instead of a buzzcut) and looks adorable.
** [[http://miimochi.deviantart.com/ Miimochi]] has what could be considered some of the best example(s) of ''EE&E'' Self Fanservice. (Though all the characters' tongues are the same unusual colors as in the show...)
** More surprisingly, [[TerribleTrio the Kanker Sisters]] also get a lot of this, [[http://niveus-diabolus.deviantart.com/art/Marie-Kanker-212579389 especially]] [[http://14-bis.deviantart.com/art/Trailer-Trash-208760185 Marie]], who's arguably the most attractive of them to start with (she's got [[ScaryTeeth bad teeth]] and either black eyes or way too much eyeshadow... but other than that she's not drawn terribly differently from Nazz, who's considered in-show to be quite the hottie).
* A lot of ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' fanartists do this to Meg Griffin, with some depicting her as looking like her "Road to the Multiverse" AlternateSelf. However, this is sometimes a reaction to how she's [[InformedDeformity depicted]] and [[ButtMonkey treated]] in the show, rather than simply this trope.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'':
** In fanworks, [[HollywoodHomely Tootie]] gets a lot of these. It's worth noticing that a majority of these do not involve TheGlassesGottaGo, as the fans seem to think [[{{Meganekko}} she looks cute enough with them]]. She often gets [[SexySpectacles better-looking glasses]], though.
** Tootie's older sister [[BabysitterFromHell Vicky]] is often given a more curvaceous figure and skimpier clothing. Naturally, this often overlaps with EvilIsSexy and/or DracoInLeatherPants.
** Cosmo and Wanda are short as Timmy, but some fanworks feature them being tall as regular adults with attractive features.
** Timmy art features him much taller and looking PrettyBoy, with some even removing his trademark buckteeth.
** Anti-Cosmo gets hit hard with EvilIsSexy. However, Anti-Wanda generally does not.
* Peg Pete is a beautiful mom in ''WesternAnimation/GoofTroop'' canon, but in the fanart world she has become a sexy goddess.
* ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'':
** The Pines twins are often given older or more enhanced designs in fan art. In fact, [[Fanfic/ReverseFallsAU one popular AU]] has the twins, who in this AU operate under EvilIsSexy logic, explicitly be referred to as as the most beautiful/handsome youngsters in Gravity Falls.
** Pacifica Northwest sometimes gets a similar treatment to the Pines twins, often becoming MsFanservice in the process.
** Both of these are very prevalent in a common fan AU where all the teens and preteens are age-swapped. Most notably, pre-teen Wendy is always trying to get the attention of handsome teen Dipper, who's dating beautiful teen Pacifica.
** Speaking of Wendy, she is often drawn brawnier ([[BoobsOfSteel and bustier]]) than canon due to her lumberjack heritage.
** [[BigBad Bill Cipher]] gets a '''lot''' of fan art of him as a rather attractive male human instead of his usual triangle form. This trope is ''so'' prolific with Bill, in fact, that Alex Hirsch would often joke about it. At one point, he drew his own take of what a human-like Bill would look like, which he then declared canon (albeit in a [[TrollingCreator tongue-in-cheek manner]]). [[https://i.redd.it/fgiy44ijixwx.png The end result]] is both [[{{Gonk}} mildly disturbing]] and [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments absolutely hilarious]]. Canon!Bill [[NightmareFetishist seems to like it, too]]!
** [[GrumpyOldMan Grunkle Stan]] gets tons of this, to the point that some fans refer to him as [[JustForPun Hunkle Stan]].
** Pyronica, while having a noticeable hourglass figure, is a cyclops looking demon with some really messed up teeth. Fanart tends to exaggerate her figure and fix her teeth.
** Finding fanart of [=.GIFfany=] where she still resembles a 16-bit sprite is somewhat difficult, which is noteworthy considering that [[NonstandardCharacterDesign she looks like that within the show to highlight that she exists within a video game]]. Fans might downplay her deliberate uncanny factor and up her figure, at most adding some kind of "digital effect" to still give off the feeling that she's virtual. This is not even getting in to the occasional fanart PantyShot[=s=], of which she has none in canon for obvious reasons, but are thrown in to play with the idea that her DatingSim might have a H-mode.
** Even fanart that isn't intended to be sexy often downplays the older male characters' {{Gag Nose}}s to more realistic (and consequently, better-looking) proportions.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy'':
** Mandy receives a lot of fanart of her as an extremely sexy and busty adult for a [[VagueAge 10 (?)]]-year-old CreepyChild.
** You'd be surprised at the amount of fanart Billy gets that seriously downplays or even outright removes his GagNose. This is especially common when he's aged up. Expect his BlackBeadEyes to be changed to something more conventionally attractive as well.
* ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold'':
** The UglyCute Helga Pataki is often drawn as being a few years older and completely gorgeous. Her BigOlUnibrow will often be replaced with regular brows, her hair will be down, she'll have prominent eyelashes and she will have [[ShesAllGrownUp grown]] in certain areas. To be fair, though, Helga has shown on occasion that SheCleansUpNicely, but she'll usually be far more beautiful in fan art than she ever was in canon. She's still underage canonically, though.
** Arnold will likewise be taller, his hair will be styled differently (usually slicked back) and he will wear more appropriate clothing.
** [[https://i.ytimg.com/vi/_6xwtVK0aO4/maxresdefault.jpg Here's an example]] (though Arnold has his normal hair in that photo).
* Fanart of ''WesternAnimation/InvaderZim'' as a [[GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe Green Skinned Space Stud]], and him being tall on top of that.
** Did you know female Irkens are not actually supposed to [[NonMammalMammaries have boobs]]? No, really, go check the show. See how flat Tak's chest is? Yeah, it's quite different than the fanart, isn't it?
** Canon Dib is a scrawny little 11-year-old boy with glasses and a big head. Fanon depictions add 5-7 years to his age and make him TallDarkAndHandsome instead while still retaining his trademark AnimeHair.
** Like her brother, 10-year-old [[CreepyChild Gaz]] in fanart is aged up and given [[SheIsAllGrownUp all the beauty that comes with it.]]
** Not even [[RobotBuddy GIR]] is safe. Depictions of this kind make him into an [[MoeAnthropomorphism adorable]] white-haired or green-haired cute boy wearing his dog suit like a hoodie.
* ''WesternAnimation/JimmyTwoShoes'':
** Heloise, big time. In the show, she looks like a little girl (WordOfGod says she's [[VagueAge 14ish]]). In fanart, she's often given a very busty and very [[EvilIsSexy sexy]] figure.
** Saffi even more so. While she is a indeed CuteMonsterGirl with noticeable HartmanHips, fans seem to forget she's also a crazy one-eyed demon with jagged teeth capable of chewing through rock, instead preferring to exaggerate her figure and give her extremely skimpy clothes.
* In ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'' fanfics, Ron, who is honestly pretty goofy looking, is usually amped up considerably in the looks department... to the point that some authors both [[LampshadeHanging hang a lampshade on it]] and apologize to the reader.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'' has both played this straight ''and'' inverted it based on the situation/character.
** Played Straight: During the Summer of 2015 when the comic was first announced, the normally lithe and willowy [[LadyOfWar Asami]] [[BadassNormal Sato]] became [[FanNickname "MuscleSami"]], a giant female bodybuilder in her bikini from "The Aftermath" large enough to carry a bodybuilder-style Korra in her arms like a baby.
** Inverted: The canonically [[AmazonianBeauty 5'8]] [[BoobsOfSteel busty]] Korra is portrayed as flatter and shorter to contrast Asami in a [[MasculineFeminineGayCouple Butch/Femme]] dynamic. [[spoiler:This was happening even ''before'' Korrasami was made canon, so it's only been UpToEleven since then.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'' has tons of these, usually from the older sisters (Lori, Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn). 8-year-old Lucy is also a frequent subject of Rule 34, probably because she's a {{Goth}}. As the art style of ''Loud House'' isn't the most sexy to some fans, the changes in fanart are usually with the idea of correcting this.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Metalocalypse}}'':
** One minor, self-conscious use of this trope in the fandom involves giving [[UglyCute Murderface]] a more flattering haircut than the triangular 'do he has in the show.
** Nathan also tends to lose his slight paunch and gets a sixpack instead.
* Believe it or not, this actually gets applied to WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse. Yes, ''that'' Mickey Mouse. He's drawn by fanartists as a slim, tall, sexy {{Bishonen}}. [[https://hentaib2319.deviantart.com/ One artist in particular]] is popular for drawing more humanoid and attractive [=AUs=] of Mickey, Minnie, and Oswald.
* Jenny Wakeman aka [=XJ9=] from ''WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot'' is quite [[CuteMachines adorable]], but fans seem to like to draw her as sexy. Expect to see her with a large robotic bust and wearing skimpy clothing a lot in fanart.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' has become somewhat infamous for this:
** Applebloom's friend Twist, the nerdy pony with the speech problem, has her own share of fanart, which makes her look ''gorgeous.''
** [[TagalongKid Spike]] is occasionally aged up into a relatively handsome, yet more humanoid, teen. Much of this art gave him a slender figure, but a more muscular version later became popular, especially when it was revealed how buff he'd canonically become as an adult in the show's finale.
** Queen Chrysalis often gets this treatment. In the show she looked something like a [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot xenomorph-zombie-insect-pony]] with a gnarled horn and holes in her wings and ''legs'', and was CreepyCute at the absolute best. A ''lot'' of fan-art makes her out to look either adorable or a dangerous FemmeFatale. This is probably because of her being a VoluntaryShapeshifter that "[[EmotionEater feeds on love]]" in a [[AccidentalInnuendo very vaguely defined way]].
** Since the show began there has been lots of artwork of the main characters as humans, and said drawings frequently make them look sexy. In fact, if Derpibooru is to be believed, only ''half'' of the humanized fan art is "safe for work" and most of that still feature good looking humans. Creator/{{Hasbro}} eventually released [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirls a humanized spinoff]] that they initially claimed was inspired by the wealth of fan art. Before ''Equestria Girls'', humanized fan art was generally synonymous with low key or explicit self fanservice as a significant portion of the fandom still find sexualizing cartoon horses to be full of squick.
** On a related note, human!Fluttershy is generally depicted in fan art as being the most well-endowed of the main group of friends. It has become a running joke in the fandom that this incarnation of Fluttershy [[HiddenBuxom constantly wears loose turtleneck sweaters to hide her large breasts]] (though more fanservice-laden art just has her end up being a SweaterGirl), even though her Pony counterpart rarely wears clothes in the show. This trend usually carries over into anthro Pony art, as well.
** Many UsefulNotes/FurryFandom artists have a tendency to turn the Diamond Dogs from ugly humanoid canine-esque beasts into fairly normal-looking anthropomorphic dogs.
** Several artists try to give the characters differing body types in both human and horse form. Expect Applejack to be the tallest of her friends and decently muscular, Pinkie Pie to be slightly chubby, and Rainbow Dash to have a thin athletic body. This however is more often done out of making her seem more realistic (especially by those who see the Apples as having Draft horse in them) instead of outright fanservice.
*** On the other hand, expect humanized [[TheFashionista Rarity]], [[LoveGoddess Princess Cadance]], [[HornyDevils Queen Chrysalis]], [[ReluctantFanserviceGirl Fluttershy]], [[TheBeautifulElite Fleur-De-Lis]], [[{{Moe}} Coco Pommel]], and [[HotGoddess Princess Celestia]] (who like Fluttershy, will always be drawn with huge breasts to the point of being nicknamed Princess Breastia) to always be drawn beautiful.
* Candace Flynn - and Stacy to a lesser extent - from ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'' get a lot of fan-art that portrays them as being similarly curvaceous and beautiful as Vanessa. Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry gets a lot of these, too. To a lesser extent, Phineas, Ferb, and Isabella also get some, mainly in art where they're aged up.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'':
** A minor character, Mr. Green is often bishified in fanart despite the whole episode about him revolving about how scary he looks.
** The show makes it clear that the titular trio literally don't have fingers or noses. They're also, as said on at least one occasion, "bug-eyed freaks" with abnormally large and cutesy eyes. Expect fanart to depict them as cute children (or attractive teens/adults) with noses and fingers, and more normal facial and body proportions.
** Bunny was a {{gonk}} due to being created incorrectly compared to her sisters. Fan-art usually depicts her BackFromTheDead and just as cute as the other Powerpuffs.
* Many ''WesternAnimation/{{Recess}}'' characters receive this in fanart. T.J. is the most notable, but it also happens a lot to Spinelli, Gretchen, Hustler Kid, and Butch.
* Several characters from ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'' receive this treatment in some fanarts. Sometimes even Pops, Skips, and ''[[FormerlyFit Muscle Man]]''. With Benson it's either MoeAnthropomorphism or they just make his nose slightly smaller.
* ''WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty'' has Morty's {{Moe}} traits often played up in fan art, making him into a cute shota, while Rick often becomes a borderline case of a SilverFox.
* {{Discussed|Trope}} in [[http://www.studio360.org/story/sideshow-rugrats-all-growed-up/ this column]] by Eric Molinsky, a former ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'' storyboard artist who says that fanart of the characters as adults, while talented, is too glamorous for the show's Eastern-European style, and shows some art of his of how the ''Rugrats'' kids would look like as adults in a way more characteristic of the show. Most fan art is based on their ''WesternAnimation/AllGrownUp'' designs, which do depict them as attractive as tweens.
* In ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo'' fandom, Velma gets this [[NerdsAreSexy a lot.]] She's depicted as curvier than she normally is. Eventually, the adaptations themselves began [[ProgressivelyPrettier adding curves to her]].
* Happens a ''lot'' in ''WesternAnimation/SheZow'' fanart. Guy is usually made to look more "feminine" and Kelly gets bustier and curvier.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'':
** Prevalent in ''Simpsons'' fanart, where Lisa, Maggie, Bart, and just about any other child character are often [[TimeSkip aged up]] and [[ShesAllGrownUp beautified accordingly]].
** Jessica Lovejoy and Allison Taylor are also popular subjects of sexy aged-up fanart, despite each of them only having prominence in one episode.
** Heck, even the adults get this sometimes.
* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'':
** ''South Park'' gets rampant anime-style fanart of the boys as {{Pretty Boy}}s. Sometimes, you realize that the skinny, bishonen guy in the red shirt is supposed to be ''[[FatBastard Cartman]]''. In the fandom's defence, the [[OnlySixFaces art]][[StylisticSuck style]] means that there's not much room for showing how attractive the characters are, so there's a lot left up for the imagination. A few adult characters qualify as traditionally attractive after the ArtEvolution, but the children still have a very simplistic design. Despite that, there's not nearly as much attractive fanart of the adult characters.
** Cartman is rarely drawn as obese as he seems on the show. He is usually just larger than the others. If he ''is'' drawn fatter by an artist, they tend to still give him some sort of attractive feature to compensate (anime-esque eyes being a popular one).
** Most fanarts also don't draw Kyle with a jewfro. Instead he gets drawn with vaguely curly hair or just straight-up straight hair. He also often gets a button nose, despite his father claiming that his nose resembles his mother's hook nose. Kenny is also usually given longer hair than he canonically has to make him an UnkemptBeauty.
** Butters is InTouchWithHisFeminineSide and displays CampStraight tendencies. Despite the fact that he was forced to crossdress as Marjorine, many fan-arts depict him as very effeminate to the degree of casually [[WholesomeCrossdresser crossdressing]] (though one episode did show him in a skirt). Most fan-art gives him a full head of hair instead of just a tuft of hair on top, though a common compromise is a stylish buzzcut or mohawk.
** The Goth Kids often get this; Henrietta, in particular, is a fat girl who's often drawn as very skinny in fanart if not only [[HollywoodPudgy just slightly thicker than the other girls]].
** Aged-up versions of Bebe expand on her early breast development from one episode (which appeared as litle dots on her shirt, since she was only eight) and give her the largest bust size of all the girls. Her vague frizzy/curly style is either drawn as straight, curly, or super-long wavy flowing hair.
** Even Terrance and Phillip get drawn as attractive men, when it's hard to decipher their looks within the cartoony split-head style used for the Canadian characters. The show occasionally implies that both of them are [[TheCasanova popular with the ladies]], so there's that. They could easily be [[KavorkaMan Kavorka men]] instead, though.
** This was parodied in the series itself when Kenny becomes a "kawaii" anime character in the Black Friday trilogy, complete with (bad) Japanese dialogue and a J-pop theme song. And to up the ridiculousness factor, he's a super-prissy WholesomeCrossdresser MagicalGirl too.
** There's an explicit parody of this fandom behavior in "Tweek x Craig," when the Asian fangirls begin drawing suggestive yaoi fanart of the titular couple as attractive anime boys.
* ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'':
** Characters are this when mixed with MoeAnthropomorphism. Patrick will hardly be fat and may be replaced with muscle, Sandy will go from skinny to rather well endowed, and you can hardly find any Squidward that isn't {{bishonen}} - and they also tend to give him a luscious full head of hair.
** Fans also seem to forget that Mr. Krabs is middle-aged, if not already a senior citizen, and make him look youthful and attractive.
* ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'': Virtually no gem (other than Rose Quartz) has a visible bust or cleavage, but that hasn't stopped the fanart at all.
** Jasper's canon design is buff and muscular with no visible bust, or even cleavage despite her low neckline, but lots of fanart give her very large breasts. In addition, she may also look far more feminine and leaner than she is (Quartzes tend to be on the [[StoutStrength thicker]] side, and she's no exception).
** Pearl, being canonically as flat as a board, inexplicably gets an average to large bust in a lot of fanart, and Amethyst, whose own chest is modest, often ends up looking like she's smuggling balloons under her shirt.
** Lapis also gets a fair amount of this, being almost completely flat in-series but often bumped up to at least a mid-size chest.
** Peridot has a long face, [[ScaryTeeth jagged teeth]], an unflattering triangle ImprobableHairstyle and she's frankly rather strange looking, androgynous and usually UglyCute. You wouldn't know that from the fan depictions, which often make her much more conventionally cute. Her design with Limb Enhancers got this as well, with some art depicting her in a very sexy way.
** Mrs. Maheswaran has at best a slight bust and a little bit of a butt, and no real definition between where her hips end and her legs begin besides her clothes. Yet all fanart makes her incredibly busty and gives her an ImpossibleHourglassFigure.
** In an odd example of this, Rose Quartz is often drawn with a fat, protruding stomach to further underline her BigBeautifulWoman status - something she only had in canon while ''pregnant''.
** Blue Diamond becomes a more curvy, borderline-BigBeautifulWoman. On the flipside, Yellow Diamond noticeably gains an impressive set of abs to highlight her military experience. Also, Pink Diamond often gains a perkier body while White Diamond looks like a nice SilverFox.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Superjail}}'' gets this a lot:
** The Warden is rather average-looking in canon, but you wouldn't know that from the fan art! And let's not get started on the twins and Stingray...
** Alice tends to have her facial hair and other masculine features cleaned up a little in certain artists' styles, along with her brawniness being reduced. Other artists keep her squarish jaw and muscles, yet remove the stubble.
** Jared and his DistaffCounterpart Charise are both short and pudgy, though some drawings will depict them skinnier, increase their height, or in Charise's case, increase her bust size. Jared's head will also find itself reduced in size at times.
** A MoeAnthropomorphism of Jailbot gained some popularity among Japanese and Korean fanartists, where the robotic killing-machine became a lanky teenage android boy with white hair. Jailbot 2.0 and Nova are occasionally humanized as well, with the former becoming a TallDarkAndSnarky figure and Nova suddenly becoming a tall shapely woman with pink hair.
** Usually subverted with the inmates, who keep their rougher appearances in fanart (except if you're Nicky or Gary).
* ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' gets this:
** Beast Boy often is drawn to be [[HeIsAllGrownUp all grown up and taller]] despite being the shortest member of the team. He's also more of a straight up {{Bishonen}}.
** Robin too, especially when he's Nightwing. His Nightwing actually is a LongHairedPrettyBoy but expect fanart to portray him more muscularly.
** Starfire and Raven are already portrayed as attractive in the show but Starfire is most of the time depicted as the bustiest herione of the girls and often put into her costume from the comics (often times by fanartists who think she will start dressing that way as an adult). Raven gets many butt shots and goes up a few cup sizes.
** Even Terra swaps to a curvier body.
* ''Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles'':
** Despite what her trademark yellow jumpsuit may make one think, ''[[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles]]'' April O'Neil would very rarely display cleavage while wearing it - even in cases when she realistically would. Of course this attribute is commonly made prominent in fan art.
** For that matter, the turtles themselves are outright portrayed as {{Bishonen}} in many pieces of fanart.
* There have been {{Hentai}} {{Yaoi}} {{Doujinshi}} manga of ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerry''. Yes, ''that'' Tom and Jerry. The two are humanized, and while Tom looks like a suave adult man to be the {{Seme}}, Jerry looks significantly more boyish to fit in the {{Uke}} mold.
* The more clunky ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'' are sometimes transformed into very pretty, and noticeably more Human-like forms (usually for your [[CompanionCube CLANG]] action). Notably with a ''feminine'' shape. Especially when it's Starscream.
* ''Everywhere'' in ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'', considering that most of the cast are teenagers and that the artstyle is rather basic. Boys that don't have abs or muscle get them and girls get way more busty and developed.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers'' fanfiction makes the average men musclebound beefcake via [[AppliedPhlebotinum Science-Induced Phlebotinum]]. And turns Hank's and Dean's brotherly love into {{Yaoi}}. Not to mention those Brock on Doc fics where Doc somehow grows hair and muscles.
* Creator/{{PBS}} is not exempt. Just look up ''WesternAnimation/WordGirl'' on Website/DeviantArt, and you're sure to find that Becky's often been... um, ''enhanced''. And then there's the pairing pics... (It doesn't help that the two most [[FanPreferredCouple popular]] pairings are [[DatingCatwoman Becky]] [[FoeYay &]] [[AllGirlsWantBadBoys Tobey]] and [[NoYay Becky]] [[TeacherStudentRomance &]] [[MadScientist Two-Brains]].)

!!Other examples:

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ''VideoGame/AmongUs'': While the canon characters are AmbiguouslyHuman colourful bean-like creatures, a common portrayal of the crewmates and impostors is as detailed, more realistically-proportioned humans in astronaut suits, usually to heighten the horror elements of the game. As well as [[ShakingTheRump comically "thicc" butts]].
* Unsurprisingly, Samus Aran of ''Franchise/{{Metroid}}'' has been getting a triple serving of it ever since the introduction of the [[LatexSpaceSuit Zero Suit]]. See for yourself: [[http://www.metroid-database.com/mzm/art/zss_crawl.jpg original artwork]], ''[[http://www.ssbwiki.com/images/1/10/Zero_Suit_Samus_SSBB.jpg Super Sm]][[http://www.ssbwiki.com/images/5/59/Zero_Suit_Samus_SSB4.png ash Bros.]]'', [[http://transfuse.deviantart.com/art/Zero-Suit-Samus-Animu-138572532 fan art]]. Look on the bright side: at least it doesn't make her look ''too'' different from her canon portrayal. Although it can conflict with her status as an ActionGirl.
** Once her dark counterpart was added into ''Smash Ultimate'', ''Smash'' fans quickly created "Dark Zero Suit Samus" who rivals the regular Samus' beauty in fan art but with paler skin and dark hair. This is despite the fact that most ''Metroid'' fans will [[https://www.awkwardzombie.com/comic/headcanon happily note]] that under its "armor" is [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/metroid/images/9/99/DkSam_concept_skeleton.png/revision/latest?cb=20140820001959 nothing but a translucent blue mass of veins and bones]].
* ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'':
** Mario, Luigi, and even Wario and ''[[{{Gonk}} Waluigi]]'' have had this happen to them. Mario is a short, stocky, round-faced guy with a big nose and solid mustache. When the trope is applied, you get the most average-looking anime character in existence that happens to be wearing a red cap with overalls, that used a pencil to scribble on their upper lip. Oddly enough he'll always stand taller than Peach, even though not a single video game has portrayed him taller than the princess. Luigi is the same, just taller. Wario replaces all fat with muscles, maybe a slightly less zig-zaggedy and thicker mustache, and Waluigi is just a sly, tall, lanky version of Mario. Though fan art that pretties them up while still keeping their trademark big nose and 'stache aren't unheard of either. Sometimes they'll have messy AnimeHair rather than the cowlick they have in the actual series. This is also frequently inverted, with most parodies portraying Mario as a fat, short, hairy middle-aged man instead of the youthful, able-bodied 20-something he canonically is. Though even ''then'' that can be brought back to fanservice levels, converting all that extra weight and age into a SilverFox BigBeautifulMan.
** Both Peach and Daisy also get this a lot, as well as Rosalina. Peach goes from a child-like, slightly innocently ditzy lady with simple, modest expressions, to a total sex goddess. In the main ''Mario'' games, there's absolutely nothing overly sexual about her character other than that she's pretty. However, when ''[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Super Smash Bros. Melee]]'' brought her into the roster, with its more detailed art style, Peach's fanservice potential rose up considerably. That series has her making [[CoyGirlishFlirtPose coy poses]], [[AssKicksYou attacking with her hips and butt]], and [[ShowSomeLeg showed off her legs]]. Even then, however, she's not overtly sexualized. The fans amp up the boobs (which are average to flat in-universe) and tend to fetishize the princesses' dresses by making the [[ImpossiblyLowNeckline top]] and/or [[DangerouslyShortSkirt bottom]] shorter, if not putting them in other {{Stripperific}} outfits. Another addition by the fandom is the tendency to depict Peach in particular as someone who ReallyGetsAround, [[LovableSexManiac is a shameless, flirtatious pervert]], and [[AnythingThatMoves doesn't mind]] guys or girls. However, [[GirlOnGirlIsHot art of her with the other female characters is much more common]]. Daisy tends to be more curvaceous or becomes a BigBeautifulWoman.
** [[VideoGame/PaperMarioTheThousandYearDoor Vivian]] is often drawn as a [[StatuesqueStunner tall]], [[HotWitch sexy sorceress]] with an hourglass figure. In-game, however, while [[UsefulNotes/{{Transgender}} she]]'s [[CuteWitch cute]], she's rather short and stout.
** Bowser, a monstrous ''turtle'', becomes either a ridiculously {{Bishonen}} or {{Bara}} guy, depending on the artists' tastes, with red hair, yellow skin, horns, and maybe his shell.
** And then there's JustForFun/{{Bowsette}} and the Super Crown meme. In canon, the Super Crown is used to just turn Toadette, and ''just'' Toadette, into a version of Peach called Peachette that's merely cute. In fanon it's used to turn Bowser, and other characters (''Mario'' series or otherwise) into HotterAndSexier fusions of themselves and Peach.
** Toadette herself is pretty much the only Toad to consistently get this treatment: for those who don't see her as a young girl, she's turned into a curvy shortstack with prominent thighs (mimicking her usual stubby legs).
** Wendy O. Koopa in the series has always been an impish bald monstrous turtle creature. In fanart it is common to for her to be drawn with more human-like proportions (extremely curvy ones at that) and even have a full head of hair.
** [[VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiSuperstarSaga Prince Peasley]] is said to be handsome in his home game (for a Beanish, anyway), and has the charisma to match. Fanart translates that handsomeness into human terms as well, giving him the body of a green-skinned {{Hunk}}.
* Similar to the situation with the ''Mario'' princesses above, after she debuted in ''[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS]]'', fan art was quick to make the athletically-built [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ssb4wiifittrainer_4769.png Wii Fit Trainer]] much curvier than she is [[VideoGame/WiiFit in her own game]] and in ''Smash''. She's also constantly paired with and compared to [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Samus in her Zero Suit]], mostly due to the similarities in their designs.
* ''VideoGame/NeverwinterNights2'': Downplayed with Bishop. While he ''is'' MrFanservice, under his PermaStubble and disheveled hair his model has a [[PrettyBoy boyish, almost androgynous charm]] (especially his [[https://lparchive.org/Neverwinter-Nights-2/Update%2031/ concept art]]). Yeah, good luck finding any fan art that ''doesn't'' play up his [[PermaStubble stubble]], [[HeroicBuild muscles]], [[CoveredWithScars scars]], or [[CarpetOfVirility grizzled exterior]] for all they're worth to make him RatedMForManly bordering on TestosteronePoisoning.
* ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'':
** Dark Link, a mindless, faceless living shadow is almost always drawn as a white-haired pretty boy, often with peach skin and normal eyes in reference to Shadow Link from the ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaFourSwordsAdventures'' manga. The only time Dark Link has had a face (along with a regular Master Sword) is in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' from ''[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosBrawl Brawl]]'' onward and even that's due to PaletteSwap issues. When you fight him in an Event Match, Dark Link is his normal faceless self.
** Midna tends to get a lot of this in fanart. Her more iconic [[CuteMonsterGirl cursed imp form]] is frequently made more conventionally "sexy", sometimes to the point of borderline unrecognizability. Her true, hourglass-figured Twili form naturally gets [[{{pun}} ample]] love as well, often having her build exaggerated from amply-curved to ''extremely'' amply-curved. At the very least, one can generally expect her rear end to get a generous and loving size increase.
** The Hero's Shade is a phantom covered in worn armor and bearing a skull with a single red eye for a head. But because he's the reanimated version of [[spoiler:the Link from ''Ocarina of Time'']], some artists draw him as a flush, handsome, living man with his armor in tip-top shape to boot.
** Navi. In-game, she's a [[SparkFairy floating ball of light with wings]]; in the fanart she's sort of an angel with fairy wings and [[FairySexy a skimpy costume/wearing nothing]]. This goes for other fairies in the series that have the same design, but of course Navi is the most well-known. Fans claim she isn't just a ball of light and only appears as such due to UsefulNotes/Nintendo64 engine limitations [[note]](WordOfGod wanted her to look like the fairies from ''A Link to the Past'', but the technology made that impossible)[[/note]], despite her still appearing as an orb in official art and in much higher-end consoles.
** [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword Fi]] also gets this. Despite her design being fairly androgynous, plenty of artists give her a more noticeably feminine figure. This doesn't always include giving her [[BuxomIsBetter noticeable breasts]], however, and some fan artists are willing to leave her with her slim frame, usually only emphasizing [[ShesGotLegs her legs]] or [[HartmanHips hips]].
** "Classic Link" from the first two games gets a more {{bishonen}} look in fan art and loses his long nose. Even official works like ''VideoGame/HyruleWarriors'' soften him up.
** The canonical eternal child [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Saria]] is sometimes given an AgeLift by fan artists... with all that entails. Other times, she's made into a curvy shortstack.
** Sidon from ''Breath of the Wild'' gets even taller and more muscular in fan-art.
** Quite a few incarnations of Zelda herself tend to get drawn with more curvaceous builds than they are shown having canonically. A fine example of this being ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild Breath of the Wild]]'''s Zelda, who has her HartmanHips being taken to exaggerated levels; the version of Zelda used in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate'' also gets the same treatment.
** Ganondorf, having the advantage of being a muscular man, is often given a smoother look to make him more conventionally appealing. Shippy fanart of Ganondorf also almost always draws him with long hair, riffing off of his ''Hyrule Warriors'' design. The fastest possible invocation of this trope might be when the ''Breath of the Wild'' sequel was announced. The trailer featured an unidentified skeleton in naught but a loincloth in the cavern Link and Zelda were exploring. In very rapid succession, fans assumed it was Ganondorf's body and started drawing him as a resurrected muscular bishie wearing naught but said loincloth with a heaping helping of BeautyEqualsGoodness and DracoInLeatherPants by insisting that this means all the malice is out of his system and he's a good guy now.
** Fanart of adult Ruto from ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Ocarina of Time]]'' tends to give her a curvier build and ignore her OrganicBra redesign from the [=3DS=] remake and ''VideoGame/HyruleWarriors''. If the artwork depicts her from behind, she's also given a blatant rear end, which Zoras lack in-game.
* Alma from the ''[[VideoGame/FirstEncounterAssaultRecon F.E.A.R.]]'' games. Of course, post-Project Origin, this isn't quite so applicable. Healthy (as opposed to emaciated) adult Alma is actually attractive ([[FullFrontalAssault and naked all the time no matter what]]).
* Magus from ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger'' LooksLikeOrlok in his official art, but you'd [[http://www.elfwood.com/fanq/w/e/wendalin2/magusfinish.jpg never guess it from the fanwork]]. Admittedly he was [[http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Guile.html redesigned to be much better-looking]] in the sequels and remake.
** Lucca is often made less scrawny-looking.
* ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}'':
** Izanami, [[spoiler:the TrueFinalBoss]], looks only slightly attractive in her [[spoiler:non-human yet non-boss]] form. Then certain fanart transformed her into rather gorgeous versions of herself.
** Before it was made more apparent in ''[[UpdatedRerelease Golden]]'' and the anime, [[spoiler:Naoto]] tended to be shown with extremely large breasts in fanart, all due to a couple of relatively minor scenes where she gets flustered by the other girls pointing out her size compared to theirs. Rise also gets this treatment at times, even though she herself points out her modest size compared to [[spoiler:her Shadow, who showed up in the previous night's Midnight Channel viewing]].
* The ''VideoGame/{{Psychonauts}}'' fandom has pulled this off both with the hero, Raz (who's supposed to be 10), and local EnsembleDarkHorse and potenial [[TheWoobie Woobie]] Sasha Nein. Sometimes, er, [[SlashFic both at once.]]
* Not entirely averted in the ''VideoGame/StarControl'' fandom, where female fans sometimes draw aliens in human bodies ''without'' making them sexy. Even Human!ZEX isn't a {{Bishounen}}... but posts in the Livejournal community do tend to skew toward alternate-universe [[HurtComfortFic Hurt Comfort Fanart]].
** Giving the VUX flexible necks, longer head-tentacles, and a smaller eye goes a [[http://www.ashido.com/sc2/ZEXoutloudc.JPG long way]] towards making them more appealing while still being, well, VUX. Though that may have been artistic license and a need for a visible reaction to get the joke across in this case.
* All the Special Infected (also, less often, the Uncommon Infected) in ''VideoGame/Left4Dead'', especially the Witch and the Hunter. (and ''especially'' of all the Witch). Compare [[http://left4dead.wikia.com/wiki/File:Specials_s.jpg this image]] of how they appear in-game to [[http://personalatheist.deviantart.com/art/Infected-Talk-12-121718503 this fanart]] (not [[http://wibblethefish.deviantart.com/art/L4D-Tank-s-Tea-Time-115557413 an extreme example]]), and that's not even getting into [[http://m-u-n-c-h-y.deviantart.com/art/L4D-Don-t-Cry-Valentine-153576531 shipping them]].
** Even fans who aren't really trying to pretty them up generally draw them younger than the character models appear to be, i.e. as young adults or sometimes teenagers; the Special Infected may be YoungerThanTheyLook [[EpilepticTrees as a side effect of the virus]] (this is a common fan theory), but they still ''look'' like they're at least in their 30s in-game. Again, this happens the most with the Witch and the Hunter. Mind you, getting close enough to take a good look at their faces in-game (as opposed to in ''Garry's Mod'' or looking at a reference picture) is difficult and inadvisable, so this is forgivable.
** Also, since a lot of their grossness comes from icky details, simplifying an Infected's appearance will obviously make them cuter as well.
** [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/636880/blood-blush-boomer_-left4dead-braid-breasts-chasin This (NSFW)]]. While the Witch can be considerably cuter with removal of some of her infection details, the one with the pigtails is suppose to be the jaw-molten Spitter.
* Characters from ''VideoGame/{{Okami}}'' find themselves subject to this quite a bit. [[TheFaceless Perpetually]] [[MaskPower masked]] Oki is invariably assumed to be {{Bishonen}} under the disguise and tiny, [[TheNapoleon Napoleon]] Issun usually ends up as a cute boy. The most notable example has to be the protagonist, Amaterasu. In-game, she's a nonanthropomorphic wolf. In fanart, she is frequently drawn as either an attractive woman with white hair and LittleBitBeastly traits, or a full-blown HumanoidFemaleAnimal (often in the nude, [[NonHumansLackAttributes naughty bits optional]]). [[note]]It is true that the wolf isn't Amaterasu's original form and that one character sees her as an attractive young woman, but the player doesn't get to see this, so it still counts as an example.[[/note]]
* Most characters in ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' are ridiculously attractive already, but sometimes design elements are ignored to make them even more so:
** [[Videogame/FinalFantasyV Faris Scherwiz]] is often given large breasts in fanart, ignoring that she had to [[{{Bifauxnen}} pass for a man]], albeit a rather pretty one, ever since she joined a pirate crew. She even lampshades that being a woman on a ship full of male pirates would be a ''very bad thing''. In fan art it's rare that she even gets depicted with smaller breasts than her sister Lenna. To be fair, [[HiddenBuxom the game itself does imply she is really busty when Galuf accidentally sees her true appearance,]] but the fans still really stretch the playability of being concealed from her pirate crew.
** The games with 16-bit sprites tend to get lots of this in general, despite the characters being visible in-game only as small, pixelated sprites with not particuarly a lot of detail on them (and not helped by most of the official art not matching the sprites at all, seemingly being more interested in [[DesignStudentsOrgasm looking]] [[RuleOfCool cool]] than helping people get an idea of what the characters actually look like). In particular, quite a lot of fanart exists of [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV Rydia]], [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyV Lenna, Faris]], [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI Celes]], and [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyTactics Agrias]] with very... "[[BuxomIsBetter glamorous]]" figures. Guess fans like to let their imaginations do most of the work...
** ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI''[='s=] fans tend to have the {{Bishonen}} Edgar has almost the same amount of muscle as his {{hunk}} younger twin, Sabin. There are also some fanarts that age up Relm and Gau.
** Fans also tend to buff up [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyXII Vaan and Balthier]] (both whom are reasonably muscular) to be more the size of Basch. Reverse case also occurs.
** Ardyn from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXV''. In game he's portrayed as a handsome man in early middle age with a slightly humorous, bohemian appearance, PermaStubble, prominent eye bags and a sturdy build. Fans often draw him much cleaned up as a more traditional WickedCultured SissyVillain (elements Ardyn does ''have'', if not his most prominent character aspects), if they don't just slather him in so much GenericCuteness that he appears the same as an average {{bishonen}} villain in his 20s.
* Quite a few ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' characters get this:
** Red is an interesting case. While he isn't ''ugly'' per se, he is more or less quite young. Even at age 14 in the [[VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver original generation II games]], he is still a rather scrawny-looking kid with unruly hair (from what can be seen from his 8-bit sprite anyway). Fans however ignore this, making him {{Bishonen}}, combing his hair down, and coloring his eyes red. This design is known as "Pixiv Red" due to originally being created by an artist on said website. Even for the remakes fans tend to use this design, despite the fact he has a new design, which actually is slick and {{Bishonen}} at that age. "Pixiv Red" is so ubiquitous, in fact, that mislabeling this version of Red can be major FlameBait in the Japanese fandom, and some Website/NicoNicoDouga videos warn watchers in advance that the video uses this version of the character. Coincidentally, ''Manga/PokemonAdventures''[='=] Red actually resembles the fan version Red more closely, though even then there are also some 4komas that give this Red straighter hair.
*** As soon as Red and his rival Blue were revealed to [[TheBusCameBack return]] [[HesAllGrownUp as young adults]] in ''VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon'', fans quickly took note of his thicker build than [[{{Bishounen}} Blue]], and Red got hit with a second wave of this; while his official art already shows him as a rather well-built, budding {{Hunk}} with sharper features than would be expected from his home region, fanart often exaggerates his muscles to anywhere from straight-up Hunk to outright {{Bara}} levels. In fact, none of the muscles on anywhere but his neck are particularly defined in his official art, it and his 3D model often looking scrawny in comparison to fan depictions. Less commonly, adult Blue also sometimes gets gratuitous muscle added onto him, despite being a more thinly-built {{Bishounen}}.
** Fan arts of feminine-looking Pokémon -- especially [[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire Gardevoir]] and [[VideoGame/PokemonDiamondAndPearl Lopunny]], due to the former being a CuteMonsterGirl-like mon "wearing" what appears to be a flowing, elegant dress, and the latter being a cute antropomorphic rabbit with HartmanHips -- are usually drawn more attractively rather than the cartoon creatures they originally were; especially, and infamously, by the more... hardcore parts of the UsefulNotes/FurryFandom.
** Mewtwo is also quite popular among the UsefulNotes/FurryFandom, and the normal and Mega X forms get even more muscular than before. And thanks to ''[[Anime/PokemonGenesectAndTheLegendAwakened Genesect and the Legend Awakened]]'' and its use of a feminine Mewtwo, Mega Mewtwo Y often gets ''very'' feminine fanart, with the associated assets, compared to its androgynous look in-universe.
** Cynthia, while already having an attractive design, often gets bumped up a few cup sizes and is otherwise made curvier than she is in canon. Even the official Diamond and a Pearl manga got in on this.
** May is often drawn with breasts several cups larger than her canon one, which can't be bigger than a B and aren't very noticeable. This is partially thanks to the [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} anime]], where her breast size was [[OffModel very inconsistent]] until her reappearance in Sinnoh.
** Skyla is already a case of MsFanservice in the games, but fan-art typically makes her sexier regardless of whether it's Rule34 or not. Most of the time this is by making her crop top show off the {{Underboobs}} while slightly increasing her bust size. The Japanese website Pixiv actually has a tag called "Skyla's tits" which is on most fan-art done with her.
** Fanart for ''Ghetsis freakin' Harmonia'' tends to ditch his robes and lessen some of his harsher features. Often he ends up rivaling N for prettiness.
** The Hex Maniac trainer class in Generation VI is usually drawn with very large breasts despite her versus character art showing her with a much more moderate bust. [[YoureDrinkingBreastMilk This may be due to a certain Hex Maniac who sells Moomoo Milk to the player character]] in ''X and Y''. They also are made to be more curvy than they appear in canon.
** Wicke from ''VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon'', who's already incredibly curvy and easily one of the bustiest characters in Pokemon, still often gets a massive increase in bust size and much wider hips in most of her fanart.
** Lusamine's canonically attractive and slender design is often edited by fanart to be much bustier than she appears canonically.
** Nessa is already fairly attractive in ''VideoGame/PokemonSwordAndShield'', being a model in-game and all, but fans tend to make her curvier in both breasts and hips in fan art than she is actually shown to be in-game.
** For Melony, this can go one of two ways. Either her waist gets slimmed down, which rarely decreases her ample bust, or she gets turned into a full-blown BigBeautifulWoman, which often has the side effect of ''[[UpToEleven increasing]]'' her bust size. Both of these tend to make her look noticably younger, too.
** Hilda's shorts are short, and that is all there is in official fanart. The artwork doesn't emphasize them the same way that it does other characters (for example Olivia). Fan art will, near without fail, make her hips a lot larger and more defined as to really have her short shorts hug curves.
** Rosa, the female protagonist who followed her up gets a similar emphasis to her breasts to similar degrees despite starting from similar levels.
** Bea, an AmazonianBeauty, often goes one of two ways in fan art. Either she's [[UpToEleven even more muscular and imposing in physique]] or artists downplay her muscles to make her come off as more traditionally attractive.
** This is in fact somewhat common for fanart of the protagonists and rivals in general, which may draw them to look way older than they are in canon; though Red definitely gets it the worst (as detailed above), it's not uncommon to see overly pretty Ethans, Blues, Silvers, Brendans, and Hilberts that look like they're 20 years old. And just like their anime counterparts, the female main characters also get a huge helping of this, especially involving bust size, if not even more so. This can be particularly noticeable on the very flat-chested "Selene"/"Moon" of ''Sun and Moon'', more commonly in pre-release fanart since her official age of 11 wasn't revealed yet.
** In general, if any character (human or not) is in an image or manga where they are shipped with someone else, chances are high they will end up being either prettified or hyperfeminine/hypermasculine. Occasionally even both at the same time.
* ''Franchise/MegaMan'': Granted, Splash Woman is cute and has [[HartmanHips a pretty good waistline for a mermaid]], but most fanart of her (and there's a lot) puts her in all manner of seductive poses, give her a larger bust, and generally make her out to be some sort of goddess. Probably uncoincidentally, she's the first (and so far ''only'') enemy female Robot Master, and is also seen posing for a photo in ''VideoGame/MegaMan9''[='s=] ending.
* ''VideoGame/{{Touhou}}'', due to being about 90% fandom and possessing official character art that depicts every character as a dumpy eight-year-old regardless of anything. This fannish need to fill in the details leads to some oddities: Canon Yukari is an UncannyValley Victorian child. Fanon Yukari is an Eurasian supermodel in a tight dress.
** Significant improvements to characters' appearances present in any official work in which ZUN did not draw them, most notably in the fighting {{Gaiden Game}}s and [[UniverseCompendium guidebooks]] like ''Perfect Memento in Strict Sense'' and ''Symposium of Post-Mysticism''. As a result, the insane amount of fanarts ''Touhou'' gets makes it a franchise where its popularity thrives on SelfFanservice.
** The [[LittleBitBeastly non-human traits]] of many youkai characters tend to be interpreted by fanartists in whatever way will maximize their attractiveness.
** Outfit adjustments to show more skin are also common, though outside of specific doujin groups like Ao it doesn't usually reach {{Stripperiffic}} levels. Reimu and Sanae frequently sport [[BareYourMidriff bare midriffs]], Yukari's neckline plunges, Meiling is depicted almost universally [[ShesGotLegs not wearing pants]] despite canonically doing so under her skirt, and any knee-length skirt becomes a miniskirt.
** There's also Myouren Hijiri, who was [[AllThereInTheManual never shown directly]] but described by ZUN as an old man and would have had his head shaven while he was young because he was a monk... This doesn't stop the fandom from drawing him as a bishounen with gradient hair just like his sister Byakuren.
* The fanbase for ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'' is ''full'' of this trope. Don't be surprised to find fanart of all the classes depicted as young and sexy (though in the Scout's case, he gets more of the latter due to being the youngest of the bunch). Yes, even ''the Heavy''. As a fangirl favorite, Medic is especially prone to this. And let's not get started on the [[DistaffCounterpart female versions]] of most characters.
** The Pyro gets this in spades since no one knows what his true face looks like (or even if he's either male or female). Expect to find fanart of unmasked Pyro as either a pretty boy or an attractive girl.
* ''Franchise/{{Disgaea}}'' characters get this done to them sometimes, although it's almost always [[VideoGame/DisgaeaHourOfDarkness Etna and Flonne]].
* ''Franchise/{{Kirby}}'':
** Kirby fans mostly leave the characters alone... but whenever Kirby is drawn as a human fans typically don't make him that chubby and usually make him [[DudeLooksLikeALady very androgynous]] (if not outright making him a girl). You'll often see King Dedede not being as big as you'd expect, either.
** And then, there is [[InsectQueen Queen]] [[EvilIsSexy Sectonia]], who gets quite the fair share of art. Not just being depicted as human, either. Not even [[EldritchAbomination Zero-Two]] is immune to such.
** [[VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards Ribbon]] is usually made into a StatuesqueStunner, even though she is about Kirby's height in-universe, if not slightly shorter. Other times she is made into a shortstack.
** Meta Knight is actually adorable under his mask, however humanized fan art makes him a mysterious {{bishonen}}, and often a {{seme}} (or at least {{foil}}) to Kirby.
** [[VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot Susie]] also follows the trend of Ribbon in becoming a StatuesqueStunner, as do the [[VideoGame/KirbyStarAllies Three Mage Sisters]], who go from being small and adorable girls with no visible legs and detached hands to being outright ''beautiful'' humanoid characters with proper arms and legs.
* ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog'':
** Blaze the Cat is quite a prominent target of this. FanArt tends to give her a humanoid body and greatly expand her bust size. Even when the rest of the cast are normal. Especially notable in that, not only does she have as flat a chest as most of the guys in her design, WordOfGod has said that she's [[ACupAngst not happy with this]]. This statement eventually lead to most fan art shifting gears to keeping her bust flat, in favor of enhancing her [[HartmanHips hips]] and [[ShesGotLegs legs]] instead.
** Oh, and [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shadow_the_hedgehog_in_every_fangirls_mind.jpg Shadow]] too.
** Rouge, who is already a flirtatious MsFanservice, gets ''[[UpToEleven even more]]'' fanservicey than before.
** Maria Robotnik was an IllGirl who couldn't be older than 14. Fan artists tend to bump her physique and health up, if not straight-up turn her into a cute hedgehog.
** A lot of fanart of Amy presents her as a teenager or adult with long hair-like quills and a larger bust size.
** {{Humani|tyEnsues}}zed fanart tends to make the characters ''very'' attractive.
** It's not uncommon to see the male characters given muscle tone in fan-art. They're also depicted as taller and more human-sized. Creator/GothNebula [[https://www.deviantart.com/gothnebula/art/the-new-Silver-546569453 demonstrates this for you.]]
* While a good deal of ''VideoGame/KingdomOfLoathing'' fan art uses the same simplistic stick figure art style as the game itself, there's still some artists that invoke this from time to time.
* In the ''VideoGame/{{MOTHER}}'' series, this happens a lot with none other than Porky Minch. Yes, the fat, short, smelly, pale nerd-guy appears as a hottie from time to time in fanart. [[http://the-pig-king.deviantart.com/ There's even a whole deviantArt group about them.]]
** An absolutely ridiculous example of this is some of the fanart that Gyiyg/[[SpellMyNameWithAnS Giegue]]/[[DubNameChange Giygas]] from ''VideoGame/MOTHER1'' gets, usually from the aforementioned Porky-loving artists, where Giegue gets drawn with a feminine body and large breasts. In ''MOTHER'', not only is he referred to as a male, but his original sprite in the game depicts him with a very slender body, with certainly nothing to speak of on his chest. If that wasn't messed up enough, he is an ''alien''. And mammaries [[NonMammalMammaries are a trait of mammals, which are found on]] ''[[NonMammalMammaries Earth]]''. However, in ''VideoGame/EarthBound'', it should be noted that there is a single NPC who says that Giygas might actually be female. Even ''if'' he is indeed female, he, or she, is an ''alien'', and thus shouldn't even have breasts in the first place.
** Duster from ''VideoGame/Mother3'' also gets the {{Bishonen}} treatment quite a lot, despite not being very attractive in canon. He isn't at all bad looking, per say, in fact, most fans find him quite cute, but he is mostly described as a rather bum-looking fellow by most characters in-game.
** {{Bifauxnen}} Kumatora often gets more... [[BuxomIsBetter curv]][[ImpossibleHourglassFigure aceous]], to say the least.
** Lucas often becomes the embodiment of an {{Uke}}.
** Not to mention the Masked Man [[spoiler:aka Claus]], despite being a little bit older than Lucas. In {{Fanon}}, he often gets depicted as a {{Bishonen}}, especially when his helmet is off.
** In fact, '''all''' of the main characters get this, often having their ages turned into mid- to late teens, despite most of them being 12-13ish at most. Jeff in particular gets this a lot, due to being a LovableNerd.
** Even Ness is given this treatment. In-game, he is a rather average-looking, [[HollywoodPudgy questionably pudgy]] boy, but in fanart he often is drawn to be much skinnier and svelte and his hair will be much longer [[PeekABangs with bangs that cover half his face]]. Some fanart depict him as looking as your typical anime {{Bishonen}} boy but with a hat and striped shirt, others depict him as being an aged-up muscular {{Hunk}} mostly in favor to his love of baseball and steak. Inverted in some fanart, who will draw him to be chubbier than usual. The same thing applies to Ninten, who is given a bandanna around his neck to contrast him from Ness.
* Juhani and Mical (aka "The Disciple") from ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic'' have had their character models tweaked by fanart and mods to make them look more attractive.
* ''VideoGame/BeyondGoodAndEvil'':
** Jade, although attractive on her own, was actually known for her ''lack'' of fanservicey-ness because, in contrast to most other [[ThirdPersonSeductress female game protagonists at the time]], she dresses pretty casually (sporting baggy pants and a jacket over a tanktop) and has realistic proportions. Then along come the fanartists who, if they weren't dressing her in [[{{Stripperiffic}} skimpy clothing]], were at least upping bustline to levels ranging from "maybe she's wearing a push-up bra in this one" to "Holy back problems, Batman!"
** On the fan''girl'' end of the scale, there's Double H. Although he has a dorky, appealing personality, his character design isn't especially attractive. Fanart either tends to soften his extremer traits, making him more conventionally handsome, or ignore them completely to make him cute and adorable.
* A divisive example of this is fan-made mods for games like ''[[VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim Skyrim]]'' and the ''Franchise/DragonAge'' series, where in-game modifications to "beautify" characters like Aela the Huntress and Aveline exist, though male characters aren't immune either. Far more controversial are the mods that give ''Dragon Age''[='s=] Isabella [[RaceLift lighter skin]], especially if they're explicitly stated by the mod's creator to be self-fanservice.
* Corn from ''VideoGame/JetSetRadio Future''. Compare [[http://images.wikia.com/jetsetradio/images/6/61/CornJSRF.png how he looks in-game]] to [[http://fav.me/dph1nx how he looks]] [[http://fav.me/d5a68te in fan art]]. Yeah.
* A lot of the more human characters from ''VideoGame/YumeNikki'' get this treatment. Take Shitai-san, who is a dead guy in-game. Most fanart depicts him as a {{Bishounen}}.
* Pick ''any'' character from the ''VideoGame/StoryOfSeasons'' series who is the main farmer, both male and female, and the bachelor/bachlorette of their choice. Even the ShrinkingViolet {{Meganekko}}s are usually drawn at a Bishojo level compared the chibi-like character designs (until ''A Tale of Two Towns'' and ''A New Beginning''). The series itself has gotten in on the action and has become a CastFullOfPrettyBoys by ''VideoGame/HarvestMoonTreeOfTranquility''.
* ''VideoGame/StardewValley'':
** Similar to ''Story of Seasons'' above, ''Stardew Valley'' has this as well. Not only are fan artists much more likely to beautify the already attractive characters, more unconventional characters such as Harvey and Shane get the special bishonen package.
** There is currently a race among modders on who can make the most ''improved'' avatar set for the game. From western to manga-style, everything's possible. Interestingly, in almost all of them, Harvey loses his [[PornStache mustache]], Elliot's age gets lowered, and both Maru and Penny often end up with a ''very'' different hairstyle.
* The humanoid women from ''VideoGame/{{Skylanders}}'' get hit by this a lot.
** There is an artist on Website/DeviantArt who draws realistic versions of all the Skylanders and does this to ''all'' of the humanoid Skylanders, meaning both male and female characters. This included a {{Bara}} version of Wham Bam the yeti.
* Given that the titular character from ''VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}}'' is MsFanservice, and the entire game runs on a 50/50 blend of RuleOfCool and RuleOfSexy, there wouldn't be any place for this trope, right? Wrong. Most fanart tends to give her [[NoodlePeople more natural proportions with her arms, legs, and neck]] despite increasing her [[MaleGaze bosom and behind]], and she often lets that gigantic beehive of a hairdo down, apparently forgetting it's basically the ammunition for her combat magic. And her clothes, but then she's frequently drawn wearing real leather instead of a hair-suit. She also often ends up helpless, overpowered, submissive, and in outright bondage, which are the only ones that really make her creator Hideki Kamiya angry, as he intended her to a dominant ActionGirl.
* A weird example with Sarah Kerrigan from ''VideoGame/StarCraft''. She starts out as a fairly sexy human character, who over the course of the series gets infested by the [[HordeOfAlienLocusts Zerg]] and turned into the Queen of Blades. While her infested form still looks sexy, the official look is more of a creepy kind of sexy, with major UncannyValley and {{Squick}} involved. Yet, a lot of fans ignore parts of those factors and made her look more sexy in fanarts. Ironically, ''VideoGame/StarCraftII'' has her gradually getting a relooking over the course of the game when she goes through a (sort of) HeelFaceTurn, leading her to get a slightly less disturbing, more beautiful look that would fit her portrayal in said fanarts.
* Inverted in ''VideoGame/NancyDrew: The Shattered Medallion''. When previously-TheGhost [[spoiler:Sonny Joon]], a quirky slacker, was revealed to be attractive on the box art, some fans complained that he wasn't the pimpled geek they had imagined him to be.
* ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'':
** While sometimes the animatronic characters are drawn as the cute mascots they are supposed to be InUniverse, sometimes they are drawn as attractive furries or humans. Especially [[EnsembleDarkhorse Foxy]], who has been drawn as [[ViewerGenderConfusion an attractive male AND an attractive female]].
** Aside from Foxy, the other notable animatronics to get this are [[VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys2 Mangle]] (who is... well, a mangled endoskeleton [[note]]and, perhaps uncoincidentally, a [[AmbiguousGender gender swap(?)]] of the aforementioned Foxy[[/note]]), and [[VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys3 Springtrap]] (who is not only severely decayed, but also [[spoiler:has the rotten corpse of a child murderer (who may even be possessing Springtrap) inside him]]).
** And don't even get us started on [[ImpossibleHourGlassFigure Toy]] [[EvilIsSexy Chica]]...
** What the fans do to [[ShesGotLegs Bal]][[BuxomIsBetter lor]][[HartmanHips a]] must be seen to be believed.
** You don't see many humans in the series, but even they aren't safe: Phone Guy and the various protagonists tend to look attractive in fanart (though none of them have an in-canon physical appearance). Special mention goes to the Murderer who, despite being seen as a LeanAndMean [[PurpleIsPowerful purple]] Atari-esque sprite with [[BlackEyesOfEvil black eyes and glowing white pupils]], has often been drawn to look cuter or [[http://pre01.deviantart.net/39f3/th/pre/i/2015/218/0/2/fnaf___someone_lured_them_away_in_a_bunny_costume_by_ladyfiszi-d94axfo.jpg even outright handsome]].
* ''VideoGame/BaldisBasicsInEducationAndLearning'':
** [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/baldis-basics-in-education-and-learning/images/b/bb/BaldiOnly.png/revision/latest?cb=20190111015343 Baldi]] is a poorly animated, middle-aged-looking polygonal character with a mouth that makes him looks like he's wearing lipstick, googly eyes, [[CharlieBrownBaldness mostly bald with only a single strand of hair sticking up from the top of his egg-shaped head]], a voice and nose like [[WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants Squidward's]], [[RubberHoseLimbs noodle limbs]], no visible ears, and isn't attractive in the slightest. But in fanart, he is [[https://i.pinimg.com/originals/8f/02/06/8f020641edc864a3ac19ebca46726eb8.jpg often portrayed]] as a youthful, good-looking, muscular guy with an [[http://pm1.narvii.com/6851/b7f104bee445da190a0c7a2939c92f5e264195bav2_00.jpg appearance]] similar to [[Manga/OnePunchMan Saitama]] with his one strand of hair becoming a head full of curly blonde hair or suddenly being a side-bang to make him look like a [[https://p1.hiclipart.com/preview/665/664/49/cute-baldi-drawing-baldi-s-basics-png-clipart.jpg cute baby]], especially if he is [[SuperDeformed chibified]]. He also has a surprisingly large amount of fangirls that are quite outspoken about their feelings for him. No, seriously. There. Are. Fangirls. Such as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVmLrYsCHYY this one]]. Most of them are [[DracoInLeatherPants forgetting]] that he's a deranged teacher that strikes out at and chases students with a ruler and you run from him as he attempts to kill you just for incorrectly solving the question to a math quiz that is pretty much purposely impossible to answer.
** The [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/baldis-basics-in-education-and-learning/images/e/ea/Principal.png/revision/latest?cb=20180613142210 Principal of the Thing]] is just a poorly dithered, barely made out, pixelated realistic image of a man with a weird mouth and face and closed eyes holding his finger up and appears to be shouting, with glitched feet. But in [[https://66.media.tumblr.com/4f0dd5e5b7a933b11f883f7ac6373820/tumblr_pahyzum0jX1vr5s5go1_500.png fanart]], he has the appearance of a very tall, svelte, and handsome dude with either curly or messy brown hair and given black eyes. People also ship him with Baldi.
** Playtime is unnerving-looking with her scribbled-on hair and facial features, while It's a Bully has a warped face and an elliptical torso. Both tend to be portrayed as normal-looking children by fan artists.
** In the game, Gotta Sweep is literally a broom. He's frequently depicted as a humanoid character with green and white hair in fanart. Nearly all such humanizations make him into a {{bishonen}}, which [[VocalDissonance clashes hard]] with his Fat Albert-esque voice.
** Mrs. Pomp, despite only being a grotesque head in a shoe, has fanart portraying her as a fully humanoid HotTeacher.
* ''VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends'', with its massive amount of attractive characters of both genders and myriad of alternate skins for each champion, is so very prone to this. The simplest example would be the [[BeachEpisode Pool Party]] skin series, where the champions dress down for a day at the pool/beach. Cue many, many {{shirtless scene}}s and bikinis.
* ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'':
** [[http://i.imgur.com/jj6NgQ9.png Toriel]] is often [[http://octopussteak.deviantart.com/art/Undertale-Goat-Mom-Best-Mom-568622956 drawn as a curvaceous woman with large breasts and wide hips that her robe lovingly hugs]] by fan artists. To be fair to those artists, maybe the robes she wears in her [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/undertale/images/f/f3/Toriel_battle.png/revision/latest?cb=20200902125422 in-game sprites]] are too loose to show that physique off. Maybe. Also drawn as a BigBeautifulWoman by many artists due to her somewhat larger body shape in the in-game sprites.
** Similarly, Asgore's in-game sprite makes it somewhat hard to make out his build, thanks to his robe/cape covering most of his body. However, many of his fans lean towards making him a {{Hunk}} or a BigBeautifulMan ([[TakeAThirdOption or sometimes]] [[StoutStrength both]]) in fan art.
** Frisk in-game is visibly pudgy and androgynous (and, you know, a kid), but often gets aged up and drawn as clearly male or [[MostFanficWritersAreGirls (more often)]] female and fairly svelte, with no hint of their [[EyesAlwaysShut permanent squint]] and perpetual neutral expression. The First Child, Chara, who canonically looks the same as Frisk except for skin tone, outfit, and [[TechnicallyASmile facial expression]], [[SheIsAllGrownUp also gets this treatment,]] and some fan art either significantly downplays their creepiness levels from the Genocide Ending or outright removes it, even when the art expressly depicts the events of that route.
** Sans in-game looks goofy and harmless and is really chubby [[DemBones for a skeleton]], but is often portrayed as suave or TroubledButCute. And since skeletons are lacking in terms of body parts that could be used for sex, Rule34 will often grant him the ability to create a tongue or genitalia out of glowing blue energy, based on the fact that [[spoiler:he has a glowing blue eye during the fight against him in the Genocide route]], despite the lack of evidence that he can actually do so.
** Much like Sans, [[spoiler:W. D. Gaster]] ends up looking hotter or cuter in fanart, despite [[spoiler:(what is assumed to be)]] his in-game appearance resembling a disfigured [[Videogame/FiveNightsAtFreddys2 Puppet]]/[[VideoGame/{{Imscared}} White Face]].
** For some reason, the [[{{Gonk}} grotesquely drawn]] cashier [[BurgerFool Burgerpants]] is sometimes depicted as cute or even as a {{Bishonen}}.
** Muffet is a CuteMonsterGirl, so being at least modestly attractive comes with the territory. Some artists take things a step further, though, and ignore her less human features such as [[TheNoseless her lack of a nose]] or her slender neck to draw her as a six-armed, purple-skinned, but otherwise normal-looking anime girl.
** In-game, Undyne isn't ''bad''-looking at all, but once she takes her armor off it's clear that she's on the lanky side and has a pretty flat chest, which is to be expected since she’s [[FishPeople a fish]]. Fan art will sometimes make her bustier and/or more muscular. She also tends to get hair that covers more of her head, rather than just a ponytail like in canon.
** Even Grillby, despite his game sprite suggesting he is a little short and stocky, is usually drawn by fans as a tall and aloof figure who would be rather conventionally attractive were he not a humanoid fireball.
* ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing'':
** Sable is a homely but cute hedgehog in her thirties or forties. Expect fanart to ramp up her attractiveness and especially humanized fanart to make her look like she's in her early twenties.
** Tom Nook is a pudgy middle-aged tanuki who inevitably becomes a slim, young-looking man in humanized fanart. Non-humanized fanart tends to keep his size the same and, if anything, make him into a cute BigBeautifulMan.
** All female characters lack breasts (either due to them being animals or to emphasise the VagueAge of the protagonists) but fan-artists have a high tendency to give them breasts anyway. Likewise, with Eagle-type Villagers, they're typically built like muscular men.
** [[EnsembleDarkHorse Fan favorite]] snooty villager Ankha is a particularly common target due to her sheer popularity in the fandom. Her [[VideoGame/AnimalCrossingNewLeaf New Leaf]] outfit wearing a mummy shirt that lends itself to SeductiveMummy interpretations doesn't help.
** This trope is basically what you get when you subject Isabelle to RuleThirtyFour. Body types run the gamut from her canon appearance to more anthropomorphic appearances to even humanized versions; ranging from chubby to svelte to busty or even hyperfeminized. Muscular and athletic interpretations started making the rounds, too, when she was confirmed as a playable character in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate''.
*** Amusingly {{subverted}} due to the [[FriendlyFandoms unholy alliance]] of ''Animal Crossing'' and ''VideoGame/{{Doom}}'' fans[[note]]the 2020 entries in [[VideoGame/AnimalCrossingNewHorizons both]] [[VideoGame/DoomEternal franchises]] came out the same day[[/note]], with there now being a slew of Isabelle fanart of her being extremely buff (but not well-endowed) wearing the Doomguy armor.
* When it comes to ''VideoGame/YokaiWatch'' gijinkas, Whisper (who canonically looks like a cross between a BedsheetGhost and a marshmallow) is often portrayed in one of two ways: a standard {{Bishounen}}, or a cute BigBeautifulMan (typically of the chubby kind, but one artist by the name [[http://bechnokid.tumblr.com/ Bechno]][[http://bechnokid.deviantart.com/ kid]] has a [[http://bechnokid.deviantart.com/art/YKW-Ghosty-Butler-579608422 more muscular Whisper]] who's pretty popular in the fandom).
* Mutated characters in ''VideoGame/{{Cataclysm}}: Dark Days Ahead'' were probably meant to be seen as [[BodyHorror horrific and deformed]], but the game's very small graphics (which can be replaced with ASCII art, as is standard for {{roguelike}}s) leave most details to the imagination, so a lot of fanart tends to depict characters as good-looking LittleBitBeastly like [[https://lunasa2003.deviantart.com/art/Cataclysm-DDA-Surviver-530495292 this]] or the bottom half of [[https://www.deviantart.com/art/Cataclysm-DDA-Amigara-Horrors-past-and-present-450849547 this]], conveniently lacking the "Ugly" or "Deformed" mutations.
* ''VideoGame/{{Splatoon}}'':
** In-universe, Inklings are cute but very lean kids in their early-to-mid teens with no curves, bust, or muscle definition to speak of. So, of course, fan artists that give the girls at least moderately sized breasts and hourglass figures, and the boys six-packs and athletic builds, are not at all uncommon.
** Callie, Marie, and Marina are already fairly curvy, a trait that is more often than not vastly exaggerated in fan art. Marina's already larger-than-average bust size tends to be ratcheted up to near GagBoobs levels, and even the relatively flat-chested Squid Sisters get their share of enhancements.
** Whether this is played straight or inverted for Pearl depends on which side of UglyCute the artist believes she falls on. About half of all fan art draws her with an ordinary Inkling girl's face, downplaying her ForeheadOfDoom and snaggleteeth to turn her into an outright TokenMiniMoe; in the other half (usually the comedic ones), Pearl is so hideous it's a wonder she ever landed an IdolSinger role to begin with.
* ''VideoGame/{{Overwatch}}'':
** Fanartists almost never draw Reaper as pale as his default skin is. It's also implied that his face is disfigured from Ana's reaction at seeing it in one of the comics, but in fanart he tends to look exactly like he did when he was alive.
** Speaking of [[NeverMessWithGranny Ana]], most of the fanarts about her will be of her in her [[IWasQuiteALooker Captain]] [[AgeLift Amari]] self, or will give her the same proportions as she had in her youth.
** [[TheBabyOfTheBunch D.va]] also tends to be drawn curvier than she is in canon.
** Mei is a plump young woman with some realistic curves and a proportionately modest chest. Fanart will either greatley exaggerate her bust (and butt) often while reducing her waist, or else turn her into a fullblown BigBeautifulWoman.
* The ''VideoGame/HalfLife2 Cinematic Mod'', which was intended to upgrade the game's visuals, infamously did this to female characters with the optional new character models. Even random female Citizens got significant makeovers.
** Alyx, who in canon is a tomboyish WrenchWench, gets numerous character models (many of which were inspired by real-life Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima) with jiggling breasts and {{stripperific}} outfits (some being outright adult). The creator's attempt at a more faithful Alyx model didn't get released until towards the end of the mod's development life, and still shows more skin than in canon.
** Mossman goes from a middle aged woman to a HotScientist several years younger than she should be, and in earlier versions of the mod [[RaceLift went from white to Asian]]; unlike Alyx, a more accurate model was never made.
** This, among other reasons (the creator's negative attitude towards criticism, inappropriate content like sexually explicit graffiti and the random appearance of a sex toy, and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking in general messing with the game's atmosphere]]), caused quite a bit of backlash against the mod from many players.
* ''VideoGame/KidIcarusUprising'': While Palutena was already pretty good looking in-game, the fanart takes this to new levels. Her bust size gets bigger and her clothing tends to become more revealing turning her into a full on {{Hot God}}dess.
** This is to say nothing of Pit; ever since his redesign in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'', he's been turned into a bishounen with uke-ish proportions. His ''Uprising'' look has him physically resemble a 13-year-old but with a young man's voice, but fanartists and especially Pit/Palutena shippers like to make him scrawnier and younger looking to contrast with his goddess' fanon voluptuous sizes.
** Viridi in-game has the appearance of an eight-year-old, despite actually being much older. Some fanart ages her up physically and turns her into a {{Hot God}}dess [[HotterAndSexier rivaling Palutena,]] often showing off her [[HartmanHips hips,]] [[ShesGotLegs legs,]] [[BareYourMidriff and midriff.]]
* ''VideoGame/UmJammerLammy'': Lammy is a cute-looking teenage sheep girl who has no breasts whatsoever. You wouldn't know this if you looked at the fanart, which generally portrays her with a huge rack, a much curvier body and looks nothing like the actual character.
* The ''VideoGame/DarkSouls'' series has an unseen talking crow character or two in each game who will exchange certain items with the player. The ''VideoGame/DarkSoulsIII'' version, often referred to as [[FanNickname "Pickle Pee" or "Pump-A-Rum"]] after her {{Catch Phrase}}s, [[https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/112/793/52c.jpg is frequently]] [[https://66.media.tumblr.com/8aa5d542b61cca2f7acafd11a168cd6d/tumblr_o5wb70pVRK1qjyh1go1_400.jpg drawn as]] [[https://pics.me.me/pickle-pee-umpa-rum-the-harpy-28372722.png a cute]] [[https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/112/795/b1e.jpg harpy girl.]]
* Kuro of ''VideoGame/EnsembleStars'' is the second-tallest of the cast, a former delinquent, and the very powerful captain of the karate club, but his in-game sprite and CG illustrations only show him ''slightly'' more bulky than the other characters. Fanartists usually prefer to draw him in BaraGenre style.
* The playable characters in ''VideoGame/TheBindingOfIsaac'' are canonically tiny, [[TheNoseless noseless,]] simplistic children running for their lives from mutants and demons, and they are all heavily implied (and confirmed by WordOfGod) to be Isaac himself in different costumes. Some fanart instead opts to depict them as adults that have conventionally attractive builds and stay as naked as they are in-game, some times with the justification that they're the characters Isaac is ''supposed'' to be imagining, and that in-game he's only able to put on the wig/eye patch/etc. to vaguely resemble them. (Which does not explain in-game designs such as Azazel, who has functional bat wings growing out of his back.)
* ''VideoGame/{{Terraria}}'':
** The seven female [=NPCs=] tend to go a long way in fanart from their 16-bit sprites in-game, invariably depicted as young and curvy. The Dryad's outfit in particular is depicted anywhere from a relatively-covering GardenGarment with an exposed midriff and legs (which ''are'', at least, exposed in canon), to a skimpy bikini made out of vines, to her being naked save for three small leaves and the branches/vines that hold them up.
** Fanart of the Empress of Light tends to increase her figure and make her leotard-shaped armor even more {{Stripperiffic}} than it appears to be in-game. To a lesser degree, the nose on her sprite is mistaken for a smiling mouth, so she's usually depicted with a serene expression, instead of the more serious look implied by her actual mouth not being visible.
* ''VideoGame/YandereSimulator'': Yan-chan's default appearance was deliberately designed to appear plain and average in a GenericCuteness way. That hasn't stopped multiple artists from depicting her as being much sexier than her in-game model.
* ''VideoGame/LittleNightmares'': Six, the Runaway Kid, the Girl in the Yellow Raincoat and Mono are all canonically in their preteens and are depicted as [[NothingButSkinAndBones visibly malnourished.]] A little fandom magic makes them all BadassAdorable {{Moe}} incarnate, with the addition of being less dangerously skinny. [[SheIsAllGrownUp Six in particular sometimes gets aged up and becomes drop-dead gorgeous,]] occasionally trading her signature raincoat for a [[KimonoFanservice yellow kimono]] to show that she has controlled her hunger urges [[BadPowersGoodPeople and has become the]] GoodCounterpart to [[BigBad the Lady]] who runs the Maw. The Runaway Kid (often nicknamed "Seven" by fans) and Mono both become tall {{Bishounen}}s who are often [[{{Shipping}} shipped with Six,]] acting as a lovely BattleCouple.
