''Saint'' is the second of three novels in {{Ted Dekker}}'s series TheParadiseNovels, which are otherwise known as Project Showdown.


Carl Strople is an assassin, sniper rifle extrordinaire, recuited by the X Group, which hires its assasination services out to anyone who pays. He goes through '''''extremely''''' rigorous training, which tears your personality down brick by brick until the foundation is cracked, and then builds it back up as someone else, as well as other excercises like hitting a target from 500 meters while in a box filled with angry black wasps, that "adversly affect your muscles." During training, Carl develops a mutual attraction to his handler Kelly and finds a fierce rival practically out for his soul. [[spoiler:He is.]]

During his first mission, assinate a world leader at the UN peace summit in New York, strange emotions start cropping up, causing Carl to lose focus and head towards failing the mission. From this, he and Kelly embarks on a journey to find his history and true self.
