* Happens with [[spoiler: Rootbeer Guy]] on AdventureTime. Months after he died, his wife's new boyfriend convinces her to scatter his ashes, but they mix with magic/irradiated dirt and he's accidentally resurrected as some kind of super strong mud golem. The episode deals with the LoveTriangle that forms between him, his wife, and her new love interest (who happens to be an undertaker).

* Erin and Umbra from ''Fanfic/AndTheStoryContinues''. On the surface it looks like just an InterspeciesRomance--she's human, he's a shinigami, and that's all problematic in itself--but then [[spoiler:soon after meeting him Erin realizes Umbra is actually her ImpliedLoveInterest L, brought back as an incorporeal life-devouring monster since [[AndThenJohnWasAZombie he'd used the Death Note to bring down Light]] in [[Fanfic/StoryOfTheCentury the prequel]]. Prior to meeting him she's been trying to move on with life and had even been on her way to starting a relationship with Stephen. It's all downhill from there...]]

* There was an issue of ''ComicBook/AlphaFlight'', where they crossed over with ''XFactor'', which involved a mutant whose power was only activated after her death. On her wedding day. Her groom took a while to get used to it.

Yep, after dying, this LoveInterest comes back as a ghost, zombie, or other form of [[TheUndead Undead]]. Their love was so strong that they decide to skip [[ReincarnationRomance reincarnation]] and come straight back from the afterlife. Of course, this can be less than ideal, due to (among other things) smell and, err... "technical difficulties" in physically expressing their love. And then there's CameBackWrong.

Another alternative is for someone else to do the resurrecting, be it a {{Necromantic}} lover or a MadScientist capable of an EmergencyTransformation. They might not even come back as an undead, but a BrainInAJar. For trope purposes, as long as that significant other used to be dead but now isn't, it counts.

Of course, this resurrection is by no means a 100% joyous event. If the surviving love interest moved on and got a new partner, or the resurrectee has a HorrorHunger (or no corporeal body), there will be a lot of {{angst}} and {{Horror}}. Though sometimes it gets PlayedForLaughs and HilarityEnsues.

* In ''TheForceUnleashed 2:'' When [[spoiler: Starkiller]] apparently returns from the dead, [[AmbiguousCloneEnding possibly via cloning]] he sets out to find [[spoiler: Juno]], the woman he remembers being in love with. While what this means for [[spoiler: him and Juno's relationship]] is still unclear, she seems more than willing to accept him as himself.

* In ''ScaryGoRound,'' Ryan manages to raise his dead girlfriend via a DealWithTheDevil. The problem is that she CameBackWrong, as a pale shambling zombie. He flees in terror, then stops to remember what his momma always told him: Make things right with that sweet little gal.

* The d20 supplement ''The Complete Guide to Liches'' introduces the philolich. If someone with a strong emotional connection to a pre-lich retains that connection after they become one of the undead, the lich can perform a variant of the ritual of lichdom to turn them into a philolich. Mind you, if the ritual goes wrong they may end up with an AxeCrazy [[CameBackWrong semi-lich]].

Apparently, dying and subsequently being ripped away from her afterlife made her realize murder isn't such a big deal.

In the third game you may decide to continue with the romance or that it is time for you to move one as well and terminate the relationship completely.
