How else do you think War]], the Doctor was a ScienceHero for whom lethal force was the last resort. After the war...he got through it alive?still is. ''During'' the war, on the other hand, he survived by fighting on the front line until there was no option but nuking both sides.

Too bad for her that she naturally possesses the potential to become the one of the most powerful [[ActionGirl Pandoras]] on the planet, and her JerkAss father constantly pressured her into becoming the "world's savior" more for to boost his own political career than to actually, well, save the world.

A lot of heroes fight for peace, love, friendship, justice and all that sort of stuff. Occasionally they believe in violence as a last resort, following the path of the MartialPacifist and falling back on their prodigious martial training only as the very last resort while avoiding unnecessary deaths. The Reluctant Warrior isn't quite so blessed, he lacks the ImprobableAimingSkills that could make his [[CouldHaveBeenMessy dealing with them bloodlessly possible]]. What's more, he will find himself constantly facing enemies who mean to hurt or kill him and his friends, and who won't pick up a VillainBall and [[{{Self-Disposing Villain}} dispose of themselves]].

* [[DragonBall Goku]] is this (especially the horrible judge of character part) seeing as how he loves to fight but never sets out to kill, even when he is forced to. He actually has the lowest body count in the series.
** On ''important'' characters at least, lest we forget the time he went on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge and destroyed the entire Red Ribbon Army when he was a kid (thoiught they DID piss him off real bad by killing Upa's dad, among other stuff). Actually, his ReluctantWarrior attitude only appeared when he grew up.

** Of course, whether he actually is applicable for a reluctant warrior or not is debatable, given the fact that it was heavily implied, if not outright stated, during MetalGearSolid that he seemed to actually enjoy all the killing and war, such as Psycho Mantis referring to Snake as being "the same as the boss. No, [Snake's] even worse than the boss, and that compared to [Snake], [Mantis] was a saint in comparison.", Meryl mentioning that Snake enjoys war, enjoys all the killing, and does not want it to go away, and Liquid Snake pretty much telling him to his face that Snake enjoys all the killing, which is why he still blindly follows his superiors orders despite his being betrayed. The fact that Meryl, one of his own allies, refers to him by such a description at the very least implies that the villains weren't toying with him.
