The Nostalgia Chick was missing out on quite a few things if she thinks the only traits Cinderella had was being nice and pretty.

-->TheNostalgiaChick: Her character traits are that she's... nice. And she's pretty!

Being lucky in battle = Not Purity Sue. Tohru is also not a Sue, being nice to the point of doormat IS a flaw.

* Ash Ketchum falls into this in the first Pokemon movie. He thrashes another trainer at the start with all his first level Pokemon, his Charizard puts up the best fight against its clone, his Pokemon are the only ones that try to fight off Mewtwo's Pokeballs and of course his Pikachu is the hardest for them to catch despite them easily catching Pokemon such as Gyrados, Rapidash, Ninetails and Tentacruel. Then of course there's the ending...

* Tohru Honda of FruitsBasket fits this trope somewhat in the anime adaptation, which kept essentially all of her messiah-like (Pollyanna unending optimism and redemption of the main cast, most of whom vocally appreciate her for it - though not really to her face) and yamato nadeshiko (cooking and housecleaning skill) qualities, but none of her underlying psychological problems and very little of her CharacterDevelopment. Still doesn't excuse the "feminist fangirls" who bash her for her femininity.

Untrue. She makes plenty of mistakes.

* Kahlee Sanders from the MassEffect novelizations. She's described as immaculately beautiful, a veritable genius in the scientific field, better at turian scientists at analyzing possible Reaper tech, has no flaws, and effortlessly wins the hearts of David Anderson and Paul Grayson. And all of this is despite the fact that Anderson never mentions her in the first or second games or any of the DLC - another point in the 'self-insert' category.

She\'s weak, she\'s depressive, she gets in the way and knows it, and she\'s painfully shy, and generally treats herself (not to mention is occasionally treated as) a burden. Hating a character for being an essentially good person is not the same as making them a Sue.

* Bleach, there's Inoue Orihime. Half the fandom loves her for this reason; the other half hates her because of her actions (or lack of) in Hueco Mundo. Even with that, it's nigh-impossible to find any distinct negative traits about her character, so justifiably, haters cite her actions as a reason for hate.

* During the 3rd season of TheMuppetShow, they attempted to create a main character for female puppeteer Louise Gold. The character, Annie Sue Pig, was a young singer, and in her first (chronological) appearance in the episode with Leo Sayer, everyone (except Miss Piggy, natch) talked about how great she was. Unfortunately, her PuritySue status worked against her, as the most popular Muppet characters are the ones with flaws, and she never achieved the stardom of the others.

* It's already been proposed elsewhere on this site that Bella in Twilight is a PuritySue. Perhaps she is a deconstruction. No human being (and in this setting, no inhuman being) can be absolutely perfect, but she doesn't realize she's as close to perfect as can be reasonably expected, so her slightest mistakes have her acting like TheAtoner, and their accumulation makes her hate herself enough that she'd sacrifice herself to save Edward, to save Renesmee, or even for no reason at all. (For those who would call this AlternateCharacterInterpretation and FanWank, consider that she blames herself when the Cullens nearly eat her, then when she becomes a vampire and has difficulty controlling her own urges she blames herself again. Sebastian is missing quite a few key elements of a Sue—namely, perfection. He\'s very impulsive and much of his personal quest his tied for his need for vengeance. He\'s a good person, which stands out in a world full of Grey And Gray Morality, but he\'s also very flawed.
