A SubTrope of ImprovisedWeapon, pickaxes are common in excavation areas, used in digging, but they're also useful weapons. Though not sharpened as finely as a standard weapon, pickaxes have heavy heads intended for breaking through earth and rock; as a result, the pickaxe is effective against armor. Also included are ice picks, which are used for climbing in icy areas. Though smaller than mining picks, their blades will tend to have a sharper edge and the weapon will be easier to both control and conceal.
