* Some dogs have been known to raid their owners' dirty laundry. Sometimes they don't actually find any socks, and go for the next best thing. (Be on the lookout for 50-lb boxer dogs wearing ladies' underwear as decorative floss.)
* On 8 November 2010, [[http://www.japantoday.com/category/crime/view/3000-pairs-of-stolen-panties-found-in-home-of-underwear-thief Yukio Kusumoto]] was convicted for theft of underwear from a woman's home. A police search of Kusumoto's house uncovered 3000 pairs.
* Any contemporary StageMagic act based around pickpocketing will inevitably culminate with this, a slightly {{Bowdlerized}} version using a man's boxers or a {{Squick}} version using a man's dirty briefs.
* In 2010, a Portswood, UK house cat named Oscar [[http://m.dailyecho.co.uk/news/8261256.Cat_burglar_stealing_underwear/ made the news]] for stealing panties.
* Creator/LeonardNimoy in his autobiography ''I Am Spock'' told of an incident when he was Grand Marshall for the Pear Blossom Festival in the town of Medford, Oregon: a woman broke into his hotel room while he was out to steal his clothes, [[{{Squick}} then called him to tell him that she was wearing his underwear]]. There was also a stampede of crazed fans at the festival itself, leading him to declare that he was never going to appear in public dressed as Spock again.
* [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Williams_(criminal) Russell Williams]] is likely the darkest and most infamous case of this. He had a 23-year career in the Canadian military, culminating with him attaining colonel rank and becoming the Wing Commander at CFB Trenton. By all accounts, he was one the best they had. He'd even flown the Queen, Prince Philip, the Governor General, the Prime Minister, and other high-level figures. Unbeknownst to everyone, however, Williams had a penchant for lock-picking, breaking and entering, and a panty fetish. He accumulated hundreds of women's and little girls' underwear over the course of dozens of burglaries. Unfortunately, this escalated into something far more horrifying and monstrous; on October 21, 2010, he was given two life sentences for first-degree murder, two 10-year sentences for other sexual assaults, two 10-year sentences for forcible confinement, and 82 one-year sentences for breaking and entering, all to be served concurrently. The Canadian military even [[InsigniaRipOffRitual burned his uniform, destroyed his medals, and crushed and scrapped his vehicle]], all because of how utterly heinous he was. Stealing panties was the ''least'' serious crime he committed. And the creepiest part was that ''he documented everything'' via photos and videos. [[TakeOurWordForIt Do not Google them.]]

* Black Bump, A Feca Demi-God in ''WesternAnimation/{{Wakfu}}'', collects underwear from all over the World of Twelve. His explanation ([[CloudCuckooLander if you can call that]]) is that underwear are the most intimate piece of clothing, and thus something akin to a "soul" of their owner. He has a whole temple where his collection is proudly exposed and stored. A rather rare example in that he collects from both males and females. However, he draws the line at ''children's'' underwear.

An individual--almost always a pervert of some kind--who steals and collects women's (or girls') underwear, usually worn/used. Almost always presented as a reprehensible individual and usually an enemy of the hero, and just as frequently played for laughs. They can be divided into the StalkerWithACrush--who steals a specific person's underwear as part of a general stalking campaign--and the indiscriminate, compulsive underwear thief--who usually doesn't engage in more serious sexual offenses and is more likely to be treated as a comic figure. One might call such a character a "knicker nicker."

* [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Williams_(criminal) Russell Williams]] is likely the darkest and most infamous case of this. By all accounts, he was one the best they had. Unbeknownst to everyone else, however, Williams had a penchant for lockpicking, breaking and entering, and a panty fetish. The Canadian military even burned his uniform, destroyed his medals, and crushed and scrapped his vehicle, all because of how utterly heinous he was. Stealing panties was the ''least'' serious crime he committed. And the creepiest part was that ''he documented everything'' via photos and videos. [[TakeOurWordForIt Do not Google them.]]
