** Hogwarts is a rare HauntedCastle where the ghosts are generally nice and have little impact on the actual plot. They're all in the same shape they were when they died - the Bloody Baron is still ChainedByFashion and Nearly-Headless Nick's head will forever hang by that one sinew. After [[spoiler: Sirius]] dies, Harry asks Nick why more people don't choose to be ghosts. Nick, who's used to recently-bereaved students asking him stuff like this, explains that the only people who actually become ghosts are those too afraid of death to cross over, and that being a ghost is a pretty sorry state, all in all.

** The ghosts of Aogami Forest have no form shown, merely acting through influencing those who disturb them towards acts that can only be described as insane (such as causing Nanase Furukawa to gradually grow more and more frustrated with Shino's presence around that time's NewTransferStudent, or making Mari Akagane paint her last painting with ''her own blood''). ** The game adds the art prep room ghost, who, despite also being credited for creating the blood painting, is also not Mari above. She is much more actively violent than the blood painting rumor of the motion manga would tell you, actively bleeding its victims out with a palette knife to use their blood as more paint, and she [[spoiler:''might'' also be a ParadoxPerson created by the Perfect World to stand in for the blood painting's creator, who was supposed to disappear after Shino found out about Mari and just stuck around regardless]], but that's more speculation than anything so far.

* In ''Literature/{{Evernight}}'', ghosts, or rather wraiths as they're often called here, have the power of cryokinesis, can create a corporeal form for themselves, can usually only be created by murder or deaths involving a betrayal and can [[spoiler: restore a vampire's humanity and create half-vampire babies via BloodMagic (wraiths actually do have blood or blood-like substance with magical properties in this series)]]. They are often drawn to places, people and objects they had a strong connection to in life; most wraiths are bound to a certain location, though some older and more powerful wraiths can learn to 'fast travel' between places and people. Some materials can also harm and weaken wraiths, especially those found in human blood, such as iron and copper; obsidian weakens them as well. Other materials, usually those from a source that was once alive as they were, can strengthen them, such as coral and jet.
