Some shows are made to be deliberately enticing to {{shipp|ing}}ers, but for the most part relationships in the story are merely heavily suggested. This could be seen as a bit of cowardice to the writers, but a sympathetic view is it allows them to please many potential fans without alienating anyone else. It's what keeps the UnwantedHarem afloat, assures plenty of fun HoYay, and allows for plotline flexibility.

On the other hand, these kinds of shows often have a pair of characters who are more overtly paired off, usually two people the other characters admire. (This makes TheHero and TheChick the usual suspects, but any combination may prove valid.) * ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'': Guts and Casca grew to love each other despite their initial BelligerentSexualTension until they [[spoiler:made love]] and became a couple. * Luka and Yuki of ''Manga/BetrayalKnowsMyName''.
* Rock and Revy of ''Manga/BlackLagoon'' are ''almost'' this, due to numerous... implications.
* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'': Although the story focusses on a group of friends who fight and support each other, there is very little romance in the story and the only confirmed relationships tend to have one or both partners being deceased. These relationships only get revealed when they're relevant to the motivation of the main characters, such the back story of Ichigo and Uryuu's living fathers and deceased mothers. However, the epilogue of the story occurs after a ten-year Time Skip and does reveal that several characters get together during that time. [[spoiler:Ichigo and Orihime live together at the Kurosaki Clinic and have a son, while Renji (still Byakuya's lieutenant) and Rukia (a newly promoted captain) have a daughter.]]
* Hagino and Mari from the ''Manga/BlueDrop'' anime.
* ''Manga/BlueSeed'' had a pretty clean sweep by the end of the series:
** Momiji and Kusanagi.
** [[BetaCouple Koume and Yaegashi]] [[spoiler:They're engaged by the end of the OVA.]]
** [[BetaCouple Ryoko and Kunikida]], interestingly enough they pair up halfway through the series.
* Jo and Meg from ''Anime/BurstAngel'' (two main characters who are also a BattleCouple... sorta).
* Kazuki and Tokiko on ''Manga/BusouRenkin''.
* Kanade and Yukino from ''Anime/CandyBoy'', despite its [[{{Twincest}} complications]].
* ''LightNovel/ChivalryOfAFailedKnight'': Ikki Kurogane and Stella Vermillion, the protagonists from the aforementioned Light Novel/Manga/Anime, on a twist of what would be easily mistaken for an harem series by how it begins, the couple is formed very early on the story (around the end of volume 1 from the Light Novel, chapter 10 from the Manga and episode 4 of the Anime).
* Rosette/Chrono and [[spoiler:Joshua/Azmaria]] in the epilogue of the manga version of ''Manga/ChronoCrusade''.
* Examples from ''Creator/{{CLAMP}}'' media:

** Fai and Kurogane, also from ''Tsubasa''. They were so heavily hinted at that fans went crazy, bombarding {{CLAMP}} with questions and begging that they eventually said ''"Screw it!"'' and rolled with it. Took a few years too because they wanted to keep it ambiguous. Fans won out.
** Touya and Yukito in ''Cardcaptor Sakura'', and later in ''Tsubasa''. Similarly, Gingetsu and Ran in ''Manga/{{Clover}}''.
** Other canon couples from ''Cardcaptor Sakura'' include Eriol and Kaho, Yamazaki and Chiharu and (manga only) Mr. Terada and Rika.
** In both ''Tsubasa'' and ''Manga/XxxHolic'', [[spoiler:Clow and Yuuko]] manage to achieve this status despite not appearing together in a single scene, not even in a flashback, and [[spoiler:''both'']] of them being long dead. ** ''Manga/{{X 1999}}'' has Sorata and Arashi, [[MayDecemberRomance Yuzuriha and Kusanagi]] and [[YaoiGuys Seishirou and Subaru]] - though "couple" might not be [[MindGameShip the most fitting term for the latter]]. Similarly, Fuuma and Kamui can hardly be called a "couple", but they're far enough out of subtext and into the text and have the WordOfGod.
** Kamui and [[TheIngenue Kotori]] also count as an official couple, even though [[spoiler:she dies later on]]. In fact, rather than any of the other couples already mentioned, these two appear on the 'the Lovers' tarot card included with the tankoubon version [[http://ryen.net/tarot/x/]]
** Chi and Hideki in ''Manga/{{Chobits}}''.
** Kobato and Fujimaki in ''Manga/{{Kobato}}''.
* In ''VisualNovel/{{Clannad}}'' (the KyoAni anime).
** Nagisa and Tomoya are an official couple ''from the start'': neither of them could imagine not being with the other one, and Tomoya doesn't even seem to notice that several other girls are in love with him.
** The Kyou and Tomoyo Another World OVA episodes make Kyou and Tomoya or Tomoyo and Tomoyo the Official Couple respectively.
* The closest thing shown in ''Anime/CodeGeass'' is Suzaku/Euphemia (displayed in opening). Sometimes considered BetaCouple because Suzaku is just the {{deuteragonist}}, but the protagonist is a CelibateHero. Oghi/Viletta also.
* ''Manga/CrossGame'' ends with three of them: Nakanishi and his girlfriend from the track team, Ichiyo and Junpei, and finally Ko and Aoba.
* Daisuke and [[spoiler:Riku]] become a couple later in ''Manga/DNAngel'' [[spoiler:although the series' manga still hasn't ended as it seems to be on hiatus again so it may end with different shippings later, but they seem to be canon at this time. In the anime they were also heavily implied to be canon by the end.]]
* ''Anime/DanganRonpa3'' has Sonosuke and Ruruka, [[ChildhoodFriendRomance childhood friends]] who have been together since at least high school.
* ''Franchise/{{Digimon}}''
** Yamato/Sora and Miyako/Ken in ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02''.
** ''Anime/DigimonTamers'' has [[ToyShip Takato and Jeri]].
* ''Manga/DragonBall'': Goku/Chichi, Yamcha/Bulma first, Vegeta/Bulma later, Krillin/Android 18, Gohan/Videl, etc.
* ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'': the only couples that are together are [[{{Yandere}} Seiji]] and [[StalkerWithACrush Mika]], [[StepfordSmiler Kida]] and [[HoneyTrap Saki]] and [[EyesAlwaysShut Walker]] and [[YaoiFangirl Erika]]. [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass Mikado]] and [[BrokenBird Anri]] and [[HeadlessHorseman Celty]] and [[BackAlleyDoctor Shinra]] also join in eventually.
* Coud and Ren in ''Manga/ElementalGelade''.
* ''Anime/EurekaSeven'': Renton and Eureka are the two main characters and the main couple, whose relationship forms the backbone of the show. Holland and Talho's relationship in another major focus. Gidget and Moondoggie are the BetaCouple, and by the show's end [[spoiler:Dominic and Anemone]] become a couple too.
* ''Manga/FairyTail'':
** Alzack and Bisca, who got married and had a daughter together during the 7-year timeskip.
** Jellal and Erza ''would'' be this, but narrowly missed it after Jellal decided his lifestyle was too dangerous to drag Erza down with him. It's firmly [[AnchoredShip anchored]], but no telling when it might be resolved.
** Also Jude and Layla, Lucy's parents, who are now TogetherInDeath.
** Ren and Sherry, who are actually engaged!
** And then there were Kyouka and Seilah, the two lesbian demons from Tartarus.
** Aquarius and Scorpio, though [[spoiler:no word on how they're progressing or if they can even still meet now that Lucy can't summon Aquarius any longer]].
** Zeref and Mavis, to the point where they're [[http://i.imgur.com/464fzqp.jpg holding hands on the cover of Volume 53]]. [[spoiler:It's also easily the most tragic Official Couple in the series, due to Mavis' "[[OnlyMostlyDead death]]" being what led to Zeref's StartOfDarkness, because it was Zeref's love for her that [[KissOfDeath killed her]]. Their relationship is more or less the focus of the ''Albareth Empire'' arc, due to Emperor Spriggan (read: Zeref) launching an invasion of Ishgal just to get his hands on Lumen Histoire (read: Mavis' physical body).]]
* Louise and Saito of ''LightNovel/TheFamiliarOfZero''.
* ''Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar'' has Kenshiro and Yuria. Even after [[spoiler:Yuria's death]] he remains loyal to her memory. And at the beginning of ''Kenshiro Den'', the last of the ''Legends of the True Savior'' films, it's revealed that [[spoiler: she is pregnant with his child]], effectively retconning the entire ''Hokuto'' continuity after Raoh's death.
* ''Anime/FlipFlappers'': [[spoiler:Papika and Cocona]] get together after a mutual LoveConfession at the end.
* Many examples in ''Manga/FruitsBasket'': [[spoiler:Kyo and Tohru, Yuki and Machi, Hatori and Kana (later Hatori and Mayuko), Shigure and Akito, Hatsuharu and Isuzu/Rin, Hiro and Kisa, Ayame and Mine.]] There are also official couples for ''minor characters''.
* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'':
** Ed and Winry is confirmed at the end the manga/''Brotherhood'' with [[spoiler:a hug, proposal, and BabiesEverAfter]].
** Roy and Riza. The official nature of the pairing is stated once and for all in the third art book. [[SubordinateExcuse There's an anti-fraternization law in the military, which Arakawa states is the only thing keeping them from getting married.]]
** Ed and Al's parents, Trisha and Hohenheim.
** Izumi Curtis and her husband Sig.
* ''Manga/FushigiYuugi'': Tamahome and Miaka.
* ''Manga/FutureDiary'' has Yukiteru and Yuno, a [[TheShipYard Loose Cannon Ship]], as well as BetaCouple [[spoiler:Minene and Nishijima, with two kids to boot]].
* ''Anime/FutureGPXCyberFormula'':
** The main series has Hayato and Asuka, along with {{Beta Couple}}s Shinjyo and Miki, Osamu and Clair and Shiba and Rena. The series ends with [[spoiler:Hayato and Asuka's wedding ceremony with most of the cast attending it.]]
** Shiba and Rena ''themselves'' are the official couple in the UsefulNotes/PlayStation game. The rest of the couples in the series are beta couples.
* ''Manga/GanbareGoemon'', involving the titular character and primary DistressedDamsel Omitsu. This is made especially obvious in the TV anime.
* Kei Kurono and Tae Kojima from ''Manga/{{Gantz}}''.
* Shido and Madoka in ''Manga/GetBackers''. Despite being the impetus of one side story and one major StoryArc, there isn't much to say about it beyond "it's cute," and "it works." Later in the manga, [[spoiler:Hevn and Masaki.]]
* ''Manga/GirlFriends'': [[spoiler:Akko and Mari upgrade from a RomanticTwoGirlFriendship to being a true couple in a SecretRelationship. The end of the series indicates they will remain together.]]
* ''LightNovel/{{Gosick}}'': Kazuya and Victorique. After many moments of ShipTease, it's finally official in the end.
* ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'' has its own share.
** [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam UC timeline]] has e.g. Mirai and Bright marrying in between series. Zeta is full of 'em, even if most end deadly for either or both lovers.
** ''Anime/MobileFighterGGundam'' has the [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome epic solution]] of Domon and Rain's relationship in the very last episode. ([[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjmCQXdVibA And epic is hardly enough to describe it]]).
** As of the ''Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop'' manga, [[spoiler: Zechs and Noin, as well as Duo and Hilde]] are married, but in the latter case, [[spoiler: they divorced later]]. The final page adds [[spoiler: Relena and Heero]] as it ends with the latter proposing marriage to the former.
** ''Anime/AfterWarGundamX'' has four final pairings ([[spoiler:Garrod and Tifa, Jamil and Salah, Toniya and Witz, Ennil and Roybea]]) but at least two or three are pretty clear throughout the series and just need to evolve into full-fledged love.
** ''Anime/TurnAGundam'' has a couple most notably Loran and [[spoiler: Queen Dianna Soriel]] as well as Harry and [[spoiler: Kihel Heim]].
** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'' and ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny'' have these in the end: Shinn and Lunamaria, Kira and Lacus, and Murrue and Mu. Athrun and Cagalli ''were'' an official couple in the first series, but things got a lot [[{{UST}} more ambiguous]] in ''Destiny'', and fandom has never been able to agree on the subject since.
** From ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00'', the fourth and presumably final ED could best be described as an {{Official|Couple}}/BetaCouple montage, [[spoiler:namely Saji Crossroad/Louise Halevy (the series' first couple since S1), Allelujah Haptism/Soma Peries, Lyle Dylandy/Anew Returner, and [[CargoShip Setsuna/Gundam]]. The finale adds Patrick/Kati, wedding ceremony and all.]].
* ''Anime/GuiltyCrown'': Shu and Inori.
* ''Manga/{{Hellsing}}'': [[OfficerAndAGentleman Pip Bernadotte]] and Seras Victoria. WordOfGod states that "if Seras wasn't a vampire and Pip wasn't a mercenary, they would be the perfect couple that everybody would be envious of."
* ''LightNovel/HighSchoolDXD'' makes it clear that Issei and Rias are the official couple... and the rest of the harem would make it clear that's "official" as in "she gets to be the legal wife". Each member of the harem has a meaningful relationship with Issei, [[MarryThemAll they're all okay with that]], and any competition is for the position of First Mistress. Issei and Rias do get the most media exposure (possibly because Rias' figure and mane of red hair make for striking cover art) but in the actual plot Rias is only more equal than the others by virtue of being their [[ChessMotifs King]] and each relationship gets [[BalancedHarem plenty of focus and development]].
* ''Manga/ICantUnderstandWhatMyHusbandIsSaying'': [[HappilyMarried Kaoru and Hajime]]. It's hard to be more official than having the anime open with their wedding.
* ''Anime/ImGonnaBeAnAngel'': [[GenkiGirl Noelle]] and [[DoggedNiceGuy Yuusuke]] are an established couple already in the first episode, but fans tend to prefer Yuusuke paired with much more mature [[DefrostingIceQueen Natsumi]]. Also, [[spoiler:Raphael and Mikael who in the last episode turned out to be the real main couple of the show, although they were established as a Official Couple from the moment Raphael appeared]].
* ''VideoGame/InazumaEleven'': There aren't any official couples in the first series but [[spoiler:Endou and Natsumi]] are married in ''GO'' (the sequel).
* ''Manga/InuYasha'': Sango and Miroku, who have had a steadily evolving relationship from their mutual introductions. Interestingly, Inu-Yasha himself is part of a triangle (with Kagome and Kikyo). [[spoiler:The manga finally resolves this issue by re-killing off Kikyo and giving her and Inu-Yasha a bittersweet closure so she can pass away in peace and he can let go of his guilt and be free to go with Kagome. In the DistantFinale Sango and Miroku have children and Kagome manages to return to the past to be with Inu-Yasha for good after some time spent stuck in the future.]]
* ''Manga/{{Is}}'': Ichitaka and Iori.
* ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'': Part 4 has Koichi and Yukako, after the Cinderella arc.
* Himeko and Chikane from ''Manga/KannazukiNoMiko''.
* ''VisualNovel/{{Kanon}}'': The KyoAni anime had the NewTransferStudent Yuichi and CuteClumsyGirl Ayu as the canon pairing, [[KissingCousins despite that]] [[IllGirl he had]] [[{{Tsundere}} a few]] [[ActionGirl other options]].
* ''LightNovel/KaraNoKyoukai'': Shiki and Mikiya. Not very surprising, considering it's essentially a romance. There's some stuff in there about the nature of personalities and murder too, but the romance is the important bit. [[BrotherSisterIncest Azaka is really kind of unhappy about it.]]
* ''Manga/KareKano'' is rife with Official Couples which is the whole point of the show. In fact, it's easier to list who ''isn't'' in a relationship by the end of the manga than the other way around.
* ''Manga/KatekyoHitmanReborn'': In the future Ryohei and Hana are a canon couple.
* ''Manga/KazeToKiNoUta'': Serge and Gilbert have some major tension with one another with a good dose of [[WillTheyOrWontThey Will They or Won't They]] mixed in, what with Serge's [[{{Gayngst}} denial of his attraction to Gilbert]] and Gilbert's [[DarkAndTroubledPast troubling past]] and [[ReallyGetsAround promiscuous tendencies]]. They eventually do hook up and admit their love to one another, but, given that they're in 1880 France, it isn't taken too well by everyone else.
* Kimba and Kitty in ''Manga/KimbaTheWhiteLion''. Look, they're the only lion cubs in the whole series. It's pretty obvious that when they grow up, they'll marry and have kids.
* ''Manga/KimiNiTodoke'': Sawako and Shouta.
* Shino and Alice from ''Manga/KiniroMosaic''.
* Akira and Koharu of ''Manga/KoharuNoHibi''.
* ''Manga/KotouraSan'' has Haruka and Manabe, who is shipped by everybody in the cast. This is despite Haruka having a case of CannotSpitItOut and has not confessed to Manabe [[spoiler:until the last episode]].
* Ueki Kyousuke and Mori Ai from ''Manga/TheLawOfUeki''. While not explicit in the anime it is made clearer in the manga and becomes fully canon by the end of the sequel series, ''[[OddlyNamedSequel The Law of Ueki Plus]]''.
* Naru and Keitaro in ''Manga/LoveHina'', and by the end only Naru is in denial over this; it helps that Naru is [[AuthorAppeal loosely based on the author's own wife]].
* ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha'':
** Chrono and Amy.
** [[http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff230/BPHaru3/RND/Fate_chan_is_a_prince_en.jpg Nanoha and Fate]] per WordOfGay.
** ''VisualNovel/TriangleHeart3SweetSongsForever'' has Kyouya and Shinobu as the official couple, as revealed in the OVA and ''Nanoha''.
** While not explicitly said to develop a romantic relationship in ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers'', the ToyShip of Erio and Caro does fit in the sense that, as the trope description states, both are overtly paired off and it seems understood by the cast that the two are an item. And their brief cameo in ''Manga/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaVivid'' has them apparently sharing a flat together in World #61/Supools, and one of the Sound Stages has Caro actually following Erio into the men's side of a public bath to [[BathtubBonding do some bonding]] -- even suggesting that they take more baths together in the future -- much to Erio's sputtered embarrassment.
** It's strongly implied that the minor characters Griffith Lowran and Lucino Lilie have married between ''[[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers StrikerS]]'' and ''[[Manga/MagicalRecordLyricalNanohaForce FORCE]]'', as Lucino is introduced with Griffith's surname in the latter season. Their relationship is subtly hinted in the first ''[=StrikerS=]'' opening and in the ''[=StrikerS=]'' epilogue, and Shario noticed that there was more between them in the ''[=StrikerS=]'' supplementary manga.
* ''Anime/{{Macross}}'' is usually good about resolving its love triangles:
** ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross'' has Hikaru and Misa, as well as BetaCouple Max and Millia. The latter have separated by the time of ''Anime/{{Macross 7}}'', but the GrandFinale suggests that they eventually get back together.
** ''Anime/MacrossPlus'' has Isamu and Myung. [[spoiler:Mostly because Guld was KilledOffForReal and GenkiGirl Lucy is nowhere to be found by the end.]]
** ''Anime/MacrossII'' has [[spoiler: Hibiki and Sylvie]].
** ''Anime/MacrossZero'' has Shin/Sara.
** ''Anime/MacrossFrontier'' has [[spoiler:Alto and Sheryl, confirmed by the end of the second movie and WordOfGod]]. Also Michael/Klan.
** ''Anime/MacrossDelta'' has Hayate and [[spoiler:Freyja]].
* ''Manga/MahouSenseiNegima'' has [[spoiler:Nagi/Arika]] in the backstory. As of the epilogue, there's Kotaro/Natsumi and [[SchoolgirlLesbians Konoka/Setsuna]] (although the latter is confirmed indirectly).
* ''Manga/MaidSama'': Chapter 57 establishes [[spoiler:Usui and Misaki]] as an official couple. Even before then, it's obvious to everyone. At the end it's [[spoiler:Hinata and Suzuna]], [[spoiler:Sakura and Kuuga]], [[spoiler:maybe Honoka and Aoi]], [[spoiler:Kurotatsu of the three idiots and Erika]].
* ''Anime/MaiHime'' has a few of these: there's [[spoiler:Mai and Yuuichi]] (though they're both in heavy denial), [[spoiler:Akira and Takumi]], and Akane and Kazuya (who are the BetaCouple). [[AllThereInTheManual The artbooks]] also canonize [[spoiler:[[WordOfGay Natsuki and Shizuru]]]].
* ''Anime/MaiOtome'' switches things around a bit (thanks in part to SitchSexuality), pairing up Shizuru with Natsuki, Chie with Aoi, and Haruka with Yukino (the last two of which were subtexted heavily in the ''Mai-[=HiME=]'' anime).
* ''Mazinger''
** ''Anime/MazingerZ'': Kouji and Sayaka, although depending on the alternate continuity, they were this or ImpliedLoveInterest.
** ''Anime/GreatMazinger'': Tetsuya and Jun. Kouji and Sayaka this time were the BetaCouple.
** ''Anime/UFORoboGrendizer'': Duke and Hikaru, although [[spoiler:Duke and [[FieryRedhead Rubina]] were engaged before the beginning the series.]]
* ''Manga/MidoriDays'': Midori and Seiji. Pretty obvious when the story starts with them becoming ''literally attached'' to each other, which is how they stay for a majority of the 80+ chapter story.
* ''Manga/MyBrideIsAMermaid'': Nagasumi and San. They got "engaged" at the beginning of the series and, [[LoveDodecahedron romantic]] [[UnwantedHarem shenanigans]] aside, they're both committed to the other. So much so that, in one episode, Nagasumi gets upset at himself for even ''thinking'' about meeting with someone who [[LoveLetterLunacy sent him a love letter]] because he already has San, even though he was just going to turn her down (and it was a trick anyway).
* Jean and Nadia from ''Anime/NadiaTheSecretOfBlueWater'', as well as Electra and Nemo. [[spoiler:The last one finishes as HerHeartWillGoOn, after Neo dies during the GrandFinale and Electra is later shown taking care of their baby.]]
** Also doubling as CrackPairing: [[spoiler:Marie and Sanson.]]
* Here are the official couples in ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'':
** Asuma and Kurenai.
** Minato and Kushina.
** Dan and Tsunade.
** Yahiko and Konan.
** [[spoiler:Naruto and Hinata]].
** [[spoiler:Sasuke and Sakura]]
** [[spoiler:Sai and Ino]].
** [[spoiler:Shikamaru and Temari]].
** [[spoiler:Chouji and Karui]].
** [[spoiler:Kiba and Tamaki]].
* ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'':
** Gendo/Yui is official in all versions of ''Evangelion'' (original or otherwise)
** In the original series, Misato and Kaji count. Shinji and Asuka and Hikari and Toji could have counted, but unfortunately they never quite tie the knot.
** In ''Manga/NeonGenesisEvangelionAngelicDays'', Shinji/Asuka and Hikari/Touji actually reach official status.
* [[HoYay Nezumi and Shion]] of ''LightNovel/{{No 6}}'' were confirmed by the end.
* ''Manga/{{Ojojojo}}'': [[spoiler:Haru and Tsurezure]]. A cameo in ''Manga/KomorisanWaKotowarenai'' implies that they got married after dating for four years.
* The only Official Couples in ''Manga/OnePiece'' are minor couples who are married and even so, majority of the couples have one spouse either [[ParentalAbandonment missing or dead]]. Some examples are Usopp's parents (mom dead, father a pirate) and Vivi's parents (mom dead, father still alive) and later Princess Shirahoshi's parents (mom dead, father alive). In [[spoiler: Gold Roger and Rouge]]'s case, they are TogetherInDeath.
* ''Manga/OuranHighSchoolHostClub'': Chapter 81 of the manga confirms that the official couple is [[spoiler:Tamaki and Haruhi]]. The anime, on the other hand, left things wide open for any shipping to possibly happen, particularly since Haruhi had had several meaningful moments with the twins, Kyouya, and Tamaki.
* ''Manga/OtomeYoukaiZakuro'', spoiled from the start by both the opening and ending credits - Kei/Zakuro, Riken/Susukihotaru, Ganryuu/Bonbori&Hozuki.
* ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'':
** Alice and Tonio from ''Anime/PokemonTheRiseOfDarkrai'', as well as Ruby and Sapphire from ''Manga/PokemonAdventures''.
** Jessie & James in the ''Manga/TheElectricTaleOfPikachu'' manga.
* [[spoiler:Mytho and Rue]] get together in the very last episode of ''Anime/PrincessTutu''. [[spoiler:Ahiru and Fakir]] have also become official by then, but it ends [[StarCrossedLovers less happily]] for them.
* ''Manga/{{Psyren}}'': The two protagonists, Ageha and Sakurako.
* ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'' has Ryoga and Akari.
* ''Manga/RaveMaster'': Let and Julia. Elie and Haru, too.
* ''Roleplay/RecordOfLodossWar'': Parn and Deedlit.
* ''Manga/ReimeiNoArcana'': Caesar and Nakaba.
* ''Manga/RosarioToVampire'': Moka and Tsukune.
* ''Manga/RurouniKenshin'': Kenshin and Kaoru. [[spoiler:Marriage and a child in the epilogue: it doesn't get more official than this.]]
* ''Franchise/SailorMoon'':
** Not even death was able to come between Usagi and Mamoru (Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask).
** Haruka (Sailor Uranus) and Michiru (Sailor Neptune).
** Usagi's school friends Naru and Umino eventually get together.
** Kunzite and Zoisite in the [[Manga/SailorMoon first anime]] version.
** Luna and Artemis.
* ''Manga/SamuraiDeeperKyo'': Kyo and Yuya ''finally'' get together at the very end. There's also Kyoshiro and Sakuya and (in the anime) Benitora and Mahiro. You could also count Fubuki and Hitoki, but she is a PosthumousCharacter.
* ''Manga/SandChronicles'': Ann and Daigo. [[spoiler:Then they break up for a nearly good 10 years, but get back together afterward.]]
* ''Anime/ScienceNinjaTeamGatchaman'': Ken and Jun (or Mark and Princess, if you go for the American DubNameChange), TheHero and TheChick of the FiveManBand finally ended up together. It only took three series and a LoveTriangle with Joe (or Jason), TheLancer (pretty funny, Jun was supposed to be TheLancer when the series was being made).
* ''Manga/ShamanKing'': Faust and Elisa who are HappilyMarried even though Elisa is dead [[spoiler:Faust will join her as a ghost eventually]], as well as Yoh and Anna. In the epilogue, it was heavily implied that [[spoiler:Ren and Jeanne]] had a child together.
* ''VisualNovel/{{Shuffle}}'': In the anime, Rin ends up with [[spoiler:his senpai Asa]]. Watching the [[RecapEpisode recap season]] ''Memories'' makes it more clear why he chose her.
* ''LightNovel/{{Slayers}}'': The anime adaptation more or less cemented Lina and Gourry as an official pair since the end of season 2 [[spoiler:when they share a kiss in another dimension.]] This was carried on to the original novels, where at the end, Lina expresses hope Gourry will marry her.
* The official couples in ''Manga/SoulEater'' are Kim/Ox and [[spoiler:Marie/Stein, who are having a baby together]].
* Holo and Lawrence of ''LightNovel/SpiceAndWolf'' [[spoiler:open a shop and have a child in the end.]]
* ''LightNovel/{{Sukisho}}'' has Sora and Sunao (or Yoru and Ran) and [[BetaCouple Nanami and Shinichirou]].
* ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnline'': Kirito and Asuna, who fall in love and [[spoiler:get married in-game]].
* Ran and Rui from ''Anime/TelepathyShoujoRan'' are a couple, and even the tinges of RomanticTwoGirlFriendship between Ran and Midori can't put any dents in that.
* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'': Simon and Nia, who were quite obvious even before [[spoiler:the time-skip]]. To a lesser extent, Kamina and Yoko also are marked as such in other media or merchandise.
* Akari and Hiroyuki from ''VisualNovel/ToHeart''.
* Taiga and Ryuji from ''LightNovel/{{Toradora}}''. Kinda obvious from the series' name... ("Tora" = Tiger = Taiga, "Dora"gon = Dragon(Ryū) = Ryuji)
* ''Manga/{{Toriko}}'': [[spoiler:Toriko and Rin got married.]]
* Kiba and Cheza in ''Anime/WolfsRain''.
* ''Manga/YandereKanojo'': The main selling point is the misadventures of the main couple, [[JapaneseDelinquents Reina]] and [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent Manabu]]. There are also paired minor characters like [[PitbullDatesPuppy Reina's parents]] and [[UglyGuyHotWife The Principal and his wife.]]
* ''Anime/YesPrettyCure5'': Coco and Nozomi. Really the only 100% official pairing within the rather large ''Franchise/PrettyCure'' franchise thus far. Every season has at least one highly probable pairing, some of which are basically accepted as canon. But Coco and Nozomi are the only pairing [[spoiler:to have kissed, and Nozomi stated that she loved him in the final episode of the first season]], among many other lovey-dovey things that certainly didn't happen with other (potential) pairings.
* ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds'':
** Yuusei and Aki might never get stated as the official couple in as many words on screen, but it's pretty obvious that this is what they are by the end.
** Jack and Carly were very clearly this at the end of the Dark Signers Arc. [[{{Retcon}} Then the writers decided to pretend their]] RelationshipUpgrade [[{{Retcon}} never happened and erased all their romantic feelings out of existence with no prior warning]].
* ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'': Juudai & Yubel, along with Amon and Echo and (quite probably, given he chose to stay with her people) Taniya & Misawa.
* ''Anime/YuriOnIce'' has [[spoiler:Yuri and Victor, who kiss in episode 7]]. As of episode 10, [[spoiler:they are engaged]].
* Yusuke and Keiko, Sensui and Itsuki in ''Manga/YuYuHakusho''. [[WordOfGod Yoshihiro Togashi]] originally did plan for Hiei and [[spoiler:Mukuro]] to be an official item as well, but severe fan backlash prevented him from doing so (although the anime implies it in contrast to the manga). In the first drafts of the series, Hiei and Kurama were supposed to be in a romantic relationship but [[WordOfGod Yoshihiro Togashi]] decided to leave them as close friends which would explain all the HoYay between them.
* ''Manga/ZetsuenNoTempest'': Yoshino and Aika.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
[[folder:Fan Works]]
%%IMPORTANT: OC/OC pairings only; no need to import shipping wars of canon characters.
* ''Manga/AhMyGoddess'': Keiichi ''Fanfic/ACrownOfStars'': Ching and Belldandy.
* ''Manga/AiYoriAoshi'': Kaoru
Bir. They were two officers taking part in the campaign to free Shinji and Aoi get secretly engaged Asuka's world. Due to working together closely they gradually developed a relationship.
* ''Manga/Evangelion303'': Jessika Ryan and her girlfriend Mandy. Jessika got assigned to a secret project and had to leave, intending to reunite with Mandy later. [[spoiler:Unfortunately she died during a trial test]]. Later Mandy read her SecretDiary and foud out that Jessika had fallen in love with Asuka and thought that she had been unfaithful (even though Jessika had not cheated and [[ShipperOnDeck she actually shipped]] Shinji and Asuka together.
* With an AnguishedDeclarationOfLove at the end of ''Fanfic/RealityIsFluid'', Captain Kanril Eleya and Lieutenant Commander Reshek Gaarra of the ''Fanfic/BaitAndSwitchSTO''-verse are together for good after having danced around
each other right after for months. [[WordOfGod The author confirmed it]] in an edit note on Memory Gamma wiki. No word yet on how they're working around the start fact that them being together violates regulations (she's his direct superior).
* ''Fanfic/TheSecondTry'': Koichi Yamadera and his wife in this story and the sequel ''Webcomic/AkiChansLife''. They were the owners
of the story, but only Miyabi market-garden where Shinji and Aoi's parents know about it. [[spoiler:At Asuka lived in the end of post-Impact world. After going back to the manga they get married past, Shinji and live HappilyEverAfter, although [[TheOjou Mayu]] claims that she [[UnrequitedLoveLastsForever hasn't given up]].Asuka visited them twice, and eventually [[spoiler:they offered selling their old house to the pair of time-travelers.]]
* ''Manga/AkameGaKill'':
** [[spoiler:Tatsumi and Mine become the official couple during the Wild Hunt story arc. Mine falls into a coma after saving Tatsumi's life, but he promises that he wants to make her his wife if he survives the final battle and she wakes up.]]
** [[spoiler:Wave and Kurome. In chapter 64, she kisses him before going to her final duel with Akame, which makes Wave realize he is in love with her. Two chapters later, he arrives just in time to stop the duel between sisters, confesses his love for Kurome and declares his intention to abandon the empire to run away with Kurome and take care of her. After some struggle, Kurome accepts, they kiss and leave together.]]
* ''Manga/AssassinationClassroom'': [[spoiler:Irina and Karasuma gets married]].
* ''WebComic/AxisPowersHetalia''
** Austria and Hungary were married at one point, and still have affection for each other.
** Germany and Italy; Germany proposing to Italy, and them going on a date in the Buon San Valentino strip.
** Also, Sweden and Finland, in a one-sided sense. But the fact that Sweden is [[WordOfGay officially gay]] and Finland is his [[SingleTargetSexuality single-target sexuality]] makes it even more canon.
* ''Manga/BambooBlade'': Dan ([[{{Gonk}} short and acorn-headed]]) and Miyako Miyazaki. The cast is still trying to figure out how this one works, although it helps Miya Miya is also a gag character who flips between sweet and [[{{Yandere}} psycho]].
* ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'': Guts and Casca grew to love each other despite their initial BelligerentSexualTension until they [[spoiler:made love]] and became a couple. Griffith's betrayal and the Eclipse created a gulf between them, making the two into StarCrossedLovers, but Guts has since decided that he will stay together with her [[{{Determinator}} no matter what it takes]].
These relationships only get revealed when they're relevant to the motivation
''Fanfic/NeonGenesisEvangelionGenocide'': Junichi Nakayima, an agent of the main characters, such the back story of Ichigo and Uryuu's living fathers and deceased mothers. However, the epilogue Japanese Ministry of the story occurs after Interior (in other words, a ten-year Time Skip spy) and does reveal that several characters get together during that time.
* ''Manga/BlueSeed'' had a pretty clean sweep by
Miko, big sister of Evangelion pilot Keiko. At the end of the series:
* ''LightNovel/ChivalryOfAFailedKnight'': Ikki Kurogane and Stella Vermillion, the protagonists from the aforementioned Light Novel/Manga/Anime, on a twist of what would be easily mistaken for an harem series by how it begins, the couple is formed very early on the
story (around the end of volume 1 from the Light Novel, chapter 10 from the Manga and episode 4 of the Anime).
* Rosette/Chrono and [[spoiler:Joshua/Azmaria]] in the epilogue of the manga version of ''Manga/ChronoCrusade''.
* Examples from ''Creator/{{CLAMP}}'' media:
** Sakura and Syaoran in ''Manga/CardcaptorSakura'' [[spoiler: who confessed to each other at the end of the series]], as well as [[spoiler:Real]] Syaoran and [[spoiler:Real]] Sakura from ''Manga/TsubasaReservoirChronicle'' [[spoiler:who also confess their love at the end of the series]]. [[spoiler:The Clone Syaoran and Clone Sakura]] also married [[spoiler:during the infinite time loop and Real Syaoran was apparently their son, not to mention Clone Syaoran was cloned FROM the Real Syaoran, making the whole thing a LOT more complicated and confusing at times, but in the end the clones were paired together as were the real versions.]]
[[spoiler:The major tipoff was learning that the only reason one half of this pair continued existing is because the other half wished for it.]]
* ''Franchise/{{Digimon}}''
** Yamato/Sora and Miyako/Ken in ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02''.
** ''Anime/DigimonTamers'' has [[ToyShip Takato and Jeri]].
* ''Manga/DragonBall'': Goku/Chichi, Yamcha/Bulma first, Vegeta/Bulma later, Krillin/Android 18, Gohan/Videl, etc.
* ''Manga/FairyTail'':
* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'':
* ''Manga/FushigiYuugi'': Tamahome and Miaka.
* ''Manga/FutureDiary'' has Yukiteru and Yuno, a [[TheShipYard Loose Cannon Ship]], as well as BetaCouple [[spoiler:Minene and Nishijima, with two kids to boot]].
* ''Anime/FutureGPXCyberFormula'':
* ''Anime/GuiltyCrown'': Shu and Inori.
* ''Manga/{{Is}}'': Ichitaka and Iori.
* ''Manga/KimiNiTodoke'': Sawako and Shouta.
* ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha'':
* ''Mazinger''
* ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'':
* ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'':
* ''Roleplay/RecordOfLodossWar'': Parn and Deedlit.
* ''Manga/ReimeiNoArcana'': Caesar and Nakaba.
* ''Manga/RosarioToVampire'': Moka and Tsukune.
* ''Manga/RurouniKenshin'': Kenshin and Kaoru. [[spoiler:Marriage and a child in the epilogue: it doesn't get more official than this.]]
* ''Franchise/SailorMoon'':
* ''Manga/{{Toriko}}'': [[spoiler:Toriko and Rin got married.]]
* ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds'':
As of episode 10,
[[spoiler:they are engaged]].
* Yusuke
managed to survive the invasion of SEELE and Keiko, Sensui and Itsuki in ''Manga/YuYuHakusho''. [[WordOfGod Yoshihiro Togashi]] originally did plan for Hiei and [[spoiler:Mukuro]] to be an official item as well, but severe fan backlash prevented him get away from doing so (although NERV together with Misato and the anime implies it in contrast to the manga). In the first drafts of the series, Hiei and Kurama were supposed to be in a romantic relationship but [[WordOfGod Yoshihiro Togashi]] decided to leave them as close friends which would explain all the HoYay between them.
* ''Manga/ZetsuenNoTempest'': Yoshino and Aika.
pilots]].

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad in ''ComicBook/LegionOfSuperHeroes'', a series thick with official couples, which also includes Phantom Girl and Ultra Boy, and [[FetishFuel Bouncing Boy and Triplicate Girl/Duo Damsel]].
* Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the ''ComicBook/FantasticFour''.
* Jean Grey and Cyclops (a.k.a Scott Summers) in ''Comicbook/XMen''.
** Though more on-again off-again, Gambit and Rogue are second only to the above as ''the'' iconic ''Comicbook/XMen'' couple.
* [[Franchise/{{Superman}} Clark Kent]] and ComicBook/LoisLane. Or not, for a while, after the {{Retcon}} of ''ComicBook/{{Flashpoint}}''. [[ComicBook/{{Convergence}} Then, they became official again]].
* ''ComicBook/TheFlash''
** Barry Allen and Iris West
** Wally West and Linda Park
* Ralph Dibny, the ComicBook/ElongatedMan, and Sue Dibny.
* [[ComicBook/AntMan Hank Pym]] has had...three now. Hank Pym and [[TheWasp Janet Van Dyne]], Hank Pym and Jocasta and now Hank Pym and Tigra.
* Hank's good friend [[ComicBook/{{Hawkeye}} Clint]] and his long-time wife [[ComicBook/{{Mockingbird}} Bobbi]], until they were hit with a bunch of problems including rape, murder, dying, being brought back, and being abducted by aliens, they eventually reunited and were official again, but broke up during their ongoing, that was cancelled before they could resolve their issues. They're now AmicablyDivorced, though a number of people, even those who don't ship them, are just ''waiting'' for their inevitable reunion.
* Apollo and Midnighter of ''ComicBook/TheAuthority''.
* Wiccan and Hulkling, ''ComicBook/YoungAvengers''.
* Xavin and Karolina in ''ComicBook/{{Runaways}}''. Chase and Gert, too.
* If there are two official couples in the ''ComicBook/XWingSeries'' comics, it's Tycho Celchu/Winter and [[InterspeciesRomance Nrin/Ibitsam]]. Both romances are fed out bit by bit for the entire length of the comic's run.
* ComicBook/{{Hourman}} and Liberty Belle in the ''ComicBook/JusticeSocietyOfAmerica''.
* [[UglyGuyHotWife Mac and Alix]] in ''ComicBook/LesInnommables''.
* Sonic and Sally in ''ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehog''. Since their status currently is "broken up", however, some consider BetaCouple Antoine and Bunnie to be the official couple.
* ComicBook/ScottPilgrim and Ramona Flowers.
* [[ComicBook/IncredibleHulk Bruce]] and Betty Banner. They're currently on the outs, in the wake of Betty returning from being [[OnlyMostlyDead Mostly Dead.]]
* Comicbook/{{Nexus}} and Sundra.
* ComicBook/RomSpaceknight and Brandy Clark.
* ComicBook/{{Hawkman}} and Hawkgirl are married.
** Took on a {{Squick}}y quality once the Hawkgirl mantle was passed down, as the new one was actually the old one reincarnated into the body of her own niece. Whom Hawkman still tried to pursue a relationship with BecauseDestinySaysSo. Despite being, at least physically, her uncle by marriage.
* ComicBook/WonderWoman and Steve Trevor were this for decades, but he has long since dropped off the radar.
* As of ComicBook/{{New 52}}, Franchise/{{Superman}} and ComicBook/WonderWoman have become this. [[ComicBook/SupermanSuperLeague Unfortunately...]]
* Mal and Molly from {{ComicBook/Lumberjanes}}.
* Rewind and Chromedome in ComicBook/TransformersMoreThanMeetsTheEye. The exclusive toys sold at Fun Publication even featured them, based on their ida designs, together.
* Paulie and Douglas in ''{{ComicBook/Circles}}''.

[[folder:Fan Works]]
%%IMPORTANT: OC/OC pairings only; no need to import shipping wars of canon characters.
* ''Fanfic/ACrownOfStars'': Ching and Bir. They were two officers taking part in the campaign to free Shinji and Asuka's world.
* With an AnguishedDeclarationOfLove at the end of ''Fanfic/RealityIsFluid'', Captain Kanril Eleya and Lieutenant Commander Reshek Gaarra of the ''Fanfic/BaitAndSwitchSTO''-verse are together for good after having danced around each other for months. [[WordOfGod The author confirmed it]] in an edit note on Memory Gamma wiki. No word yet on how they're working around the fact that them being together violates regulations (she's his direct superior).
* ''Fanfic/TheSecondTry'': Koichi Yamadera and his wife in this story and the sequel ''Webcomic/AkiChansLife''. They were the owners of the market-garden where Shinji and Asuka lived in the post-Impact world. After going back to the past, Shinji and Asuka visited them twice, and eventually [[spoiler:they offered selling their old house to the pair of time-travelers.]]
* ''Fanfic/NeonGenesisEvangelionGenocide'': Junichi Nakayima, an agent of the Japanese Ministry of the Interior (in other words, a spy) and Miko, big sister of Evangelion pilot Keiko. At the end of the story [[spoiler:they managed to survive the invasion of SEELE and get away from NERV together with Misato and the pilots]].

* PlayedWith in ''Anime/SummerWars''. [[NiceGuy Kenji]] does have a crush on [[DudeMagnet Natsuki]], but Natsuki doesn't return it and only forces Kenji to [[TheBeard pretend to be her boyfriend]] during her grandmother's ninetieth birthday. [[spoiler:By the end of the film, the relationship the two share is certainly not pretend.]]

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* Marty [=McFly=] and Jennifer Parker, as well as Emmett Brown and Clara Clayton, in ''Film/BackToTheFuture''. The former is already established as such since the first movie, further reinforced by the end of the third when [[spoiler:Marty manages to prevent an accident that would have left him disabled in the future portrayed in the second movie (2015)]], thus leading to a more prosperous relationship in the new future. The latter is born as a result of a lucky change in history, as Clara was fated to die before Marty and Emmett saved her life in September 1885; they're revealed to have two children ([[ShoutOut Jules and Verne]], collectively named after [[Creator/JulesVerne the science fiction writer]]) by the end of the third movie.
* In ''Film/OurMissBrooks'', the cinematic finale to the series of the same name, official couple Miss Brooks and Mr. Boynton finally get married.
* ''Franchise/StarWars'':
** Han and Leia in the original trilogy. Notably, [[TheHero Luke]] doesn't get ''anyone'' until the ExpandedUniverse rolls around, aside from Leia kissing him once to mess with Han's head (a scene infamous for its ''retroactive'' {{Squick}}).

** Clara Oswald and Danny Pink, after her relationship with the Doctor is downgraded to simple friendship. [[spoiler: Alas, Danny is dead at the end of Series 8.]]
** For the Twelfth Doctor: Clara Oswald, [[spoiler:with whom his relationship is back to more romantic footing after Danny's passing.]] Later River Song.
** In ''Series/{{Torchwood}}'', Gwen and Rhys, and Jack and Ianto are the Beta Couple. [[spoiler:Then Ianto is killed by the 456]].
** ''Forty-five years'' after their original run, ''Series/TheSarahJaneAdventures'' story "Death of the Doctor" made official couples of two sets of classic series companions: Ian and Barbara, and Ben and Polly!
%%% This is the Live Action TV section, not the Radio, Audio Drama or Literature section.
* ''PowerRangers'' has a few, mostly involving the Red Ranger, most notably Kimberly/Tommy a.k.a. "Tomberly" from MMPR, who shared several (and indeed the first) of the few on-screen kisses that went down in PR history.
** Kat and Tommy were indicated to be married in the distant future once and there's really nothing that's said otherwise since then.
** [[Series/PowerRangersInSpace Ashley and Andros]] are also an Official Couple, as are [[Series/PowerRangersLightspeedRescue Joel and Angela Fairweather-Rawlings.]]
** The biggest official couple in later series is [[Series/PowerRangersTimeForce Wes and Jen]], where part of the plot is that Jen's fiance Alex (who [[ActingForTwo looked exactly]] like [[IdenticalGrandson Wes]]) was killed by the BigBad and she was slowly warming up to Wes and the possibility of a SecondLove.
* ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' every so often follows through with it's [[ShipTease ship teasing]], one example being [[TeamMom Urara]] and [[SexyMentor Hikaru]] of Series/MahouSentaiMagiranger.
** Super Sentai has few actually, Ryu and Kaori from Series/ChoujinSentaiJetman, Asuka and Mahoro from Series/BakuryuuSentaiAbaranger, Tatsuya and Yuuri from Series/MiraiSentaiTimeranger, Nanami and Isshu from Series/NinpuuSentaiHurricaneger, Satoru and Sakura from Series/GoGoSentaiBoukenger is also implied in Gekiranger vs. Boukenger.
* ''Series/KamenRiderRyuki'' has Ren and his fiancee Eri as an established couple; and also Kitaoka and Reiko as a WillTheyOrWontThey of this trope. In the movie, Shinji meets Miho and they are an implied official couple themselves.
* Eventually, [[TheMcCoy Narumi Akiko]] and [[HotBlooded Terui Ryuu]] of ''Series/KamenRiderW''.
* Shinnosuke Tomari and Kiriko Shijima from ''Series/KamenRiderDrive''. They are one of the very few unambiguous main couple in the entire franchise. The WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue in the final episode even mention that they got married and later got a kid. Said kid even appear in the [[Film/KamenRiderDriveSurpriseFuture Surpise Future]] movie when he travelled from the future. The crossover movie with ''Series/KamenRiderGhost'' also ends with their wedding. Even further, the sequel novel set two years after the end of the series shows Kiriko taking a maternity leave to take care of their newborn child.
* Lizzie and Gordo in ''Series/LizzieMcGuire'', as of TheMovie and series conclusion.
* ''Series/PhilOfTheFuture'': Phil Diffy and Keely Teslow. Planned from the start by WordOfGod. Got together in the season two turned series finale.
* Despite the writers' attempts to the contrary -- "PK Tech Girl", "I Do, I Think", and even "Eat Me", for example -- there was no doubt who the official couple on ''Series/{{Farscape}}'' were. John and Aeryn were awkwardly falling into tight spaces together or each other's arms in the ''first episode''.
* ''Series/{{NUMB3RS}}'' has two: Charlie and Amita for one, who have had tension since they were introduced, and Larry and Megan, which nobody saw coming.
** Three: Don and Robin
* ''Series/{{Victorious}}'': Beck and Jade.
* Ross and Rachel in ''Series/{{Friends}}'', whose convoluted romantic relationship becomes a major plot point in the series. Monica and Chandler shared this with them in later on, as they were together for over half the series and served as the romantic and emotional rock of the show. This contrasted to the high profile but irregular Ross and Rachel, meaning they also doubled as the BetaCouple although they led many siginificant storylines.
* Sam and Diane in ''Series/{{Cheers}}'', though Diane left in the Season 5 finale. The original intention behind the characters, in fact, had involved a Katherine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy dynamic. After this, there was some teasing about Sam and Rebecca coming together, but it didn't really happen.
* ''Series/StarTrekEnterprise'' had some confusion over this as there was some hints towards a T'pol/Archer romance, but was actually opposed by the actors themselves as it was a senior officer/subordinate relationship and generally inappropriate. Although there was plenty of T'pol/Trip as well, set up from the pilot with their [[IntimateHealing intimate disinfecting]] and having SlapSlapKiss vibes for the first two seasons. It became more overt in the third season and while it never became official in the series it was stated they did spend some time actually together.
* ''Series/StarTrekVoyager'': Neelix and Kes, then Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres, but never Janeway and Chakotay to fan disappointment. In fact, given that the need for everyone to start pairing up was lampshaded early in the series (as they thought they'd take 70+ years to get home) it's surprising how little romance there was on the ship.
* ''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'' was more character-driven than the other shows, being set on a space station so it explored romances more.
** Captain Sisko and Cassady Yates. In fact this was made possible because she was a freighter captain who frequented the station, meaning there was no chain of command to worry about. All other Trek captains had problems with never being able to stay around long.
** Chief O'Brien and his wife, Keiko. This relationship actually began in ''Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration'' and came to ''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'' when the actors moved shows.
** Jadzia Dax and Commander Worf ended up getting married.
** Ezri Dax and Dr Bashir ended up together by the end of the series.
** Kira and Odo ended up together. [[spoiler: but were eventually [[StarCrossedLovers forced]] to go their separate ways due to the burden of duty towards their respective peoples.]]
** Garak and Tora Ziyal were paired together. [[spoiler: At least until Ziyal [[StarCrossedLovers died]].]]
* ''Series/{{NCIS}}'':
** Has Official ''former'' Couples, specifically [=McGee=]/Abby and Gibbs/Jenny.
** Tony/Ziva has become this. It's the only couple actually discussed anymore.
* ''Series/{{Firefly}}'': Carrying all the requisite drama were Mal and Inara, and Simon and Kaylee. Zoe/Wash, being HappilyMarried, have [[BetaCouple considerably less drama]].
* ''Series/TheWestWing'' has Josh/Donna after seven seasons of WillTheyOrWontThey. There's also CJ and Danny, who are on-again, off-again throughout the series [[spoiler: but confirmed married and with a child in a flashforward at the beginning of the seventh season]], President Bartlet and his wife Abbey, who are mostly HappilyMarried, and [[spoiler: President]] Matt Santos and his wife Helen. Fan favorite couple Zoey and Charlie were last seen together in season six, but their eventual fate is left ambiguous.
* The American soap ''AsTheWorldTurns'' has quite a few "{{super couple}}s", with a clear indication that they are meant to be together. One such super couple is Luke and Noah. Unlike their heterosexual counterparts, they have actually no other possible characters to hook up with, their story lines consisting instead of breaking up and making up every few months. In a soap, you can tell a couple is "truly official" after they make up for the third time. However, with the introduction of Dr. Reid Oliver, Luke has a viable second love interest, and is currently wanting Reid to fight for him. Reid did, and Luke and Reid became the official couple with Noah barely seen.
* Susan and Mike on ''Series/DesperateHousewives'' were set up this way from day one; in fact when they finally got married in the third season finale, there was a LampshadeHanging from Susan's daughter Julie: upon the usual "reasons they shouldn't wed" question she replies "Are you kidding? They've been dragging this out for three years." Even after they broke up in a five year TimeSkip, fans are just waiting for them to reunite. [[spoiler: They do.]]
* ''Series/StargateSG1'': While they can't be together until one of them quits the military, Jack and Sam are very much the "it" couple of the show. According to WordOfGod, they were originally not intended to be this; but when the powers that be realized the fandom had latched onto the brilliant onscreen chemistry between Richard Dean Anderson and Amanda Tapping, they decided to go with it.
** Depending on how you view deleted scenes, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_evV0kDWa5E this scene]] from the "Series/StargateAtlantis" episode "Trio", basically makes Sam/Jack canon. The DVD intro to the scene has the PowersThatBe very explicitly state that Sam is referring to Jack and they are a couple. At least one writer has said that as far as he's concerned, Jack and Sam got together after "Threads" and have been together ever since.
** Daniel/Vala was this in the last couple seasons.
* Much to the dislike of several fans, and the great pleasure of several others, Rodney and Keller on ''Series/StargateAtlantis''.
** Sheppard/Weir was an example where the actors played their characters together like this, even if the writing didn't exactly follow it. Howeever like Jack and Sam, any relationship between them would be disapproved of by their superiors because of their shared command of Atlantis, the writers could have been setting up a similar unofficial romance without writing anything overt.
** ''Series/StargateUniverse'' has Scott/Chloe, much to the consternation of Eli/Chloe shippers.
* ''Series/BattlestarGalactica2003'' had President Laura Roslin and Admiral William Adama, who, in contrast to the other couples on the show, took four years to finally acknowledge their feelings openly (they got off to a bit of a rocky start, what with the whole 'interferring in the military/coup d'etat' thing), although they first kissed in Season 2 when Roslin promoted Adama to Admiral.
-->'''Roslin:''' I love you.
-->'''Adama:''' 'Bout time.
--->-- ''The Hub'', 4x9
* Chuck and Sarah in ''Series/{{Chuck}}''.
** Also Ellie and Captain Awesome.
** Besides them, Morgan and Anna in the first two seasons as well. Afterwards, Morgan and Alex.
* Ned and Chuck in ''Series/PushingDaisies'', much to the annoyance of Ned/Olive shippers.
* Viktor and Sierra in ''{{Series/Dollhouse}}'' fell in LoveAtFirstSight, and keep doing it with every new personality they're given, and when they don't have personalities.
* Richard Castle and Detective Kate Beckett from ''Series/{{Castle}}''.
* Robin Hood and Lady Marian in ''Series/RobinHood''. So obvious that it hardly warrants mentioning, except that the FanPreferredCouple of Guy/Marian had some fans [[DieForOurShip vilifying Robin]], listing the reasons why Guy was a better match for Marian, and clinging to the hope that they would somehow end up together. Ultimately Guy [[spoiler:murdered Marian]], effectively ending ''both'' ships, and yet there were still some that complained that it was Robin and not Guy who got the [[spoiler:TogetherInDeath]] scene with Marian at the end of the show.
* ''Series/HowIMetYourMother'':
** Lily and Marshall have already been together 9 years when the series begins, and [[FlashForward flashforwards]] show them still being happily married in the year 2029. However, once they got married they mostly became the BetaCouple.
** The series finale reveals that [[spoiler: Ted and Robin are the official couple, despite TheNarrator having denied it since the beginning.]]
* ''Series/GilmoreGirls'' had several {{Official Couple}}s: Lorelai/Luke and Lorelai/Christopher and then Rory/Dean, Rory/Jess and Rory/Logan. By the time the show ended though, Lorelai and Luke were endgame but Rory was single. Naturally, this lead to ShiptoShipCombat. There were also the {{Beta Couple}}s in Sookie/Jackson, Lane/Zach, and Paris/Doyle.
* ''Series/TheXFiles'': Mulder & Scully. They got together somewhere between season 7 and 8. Funnily enough, Chris Carter insisted that Mulder and Scully were never supposed to be anything but platonic work partners. [[RelationshipWritingFumble The writing, however, suggests otherwise.]]
* ''Series/{{Glee}}'': Rachel and Finn are the flagship couple of the series. Everything romantic that revolves around these two characters, even if it's involving other characters, generally ends up related in some way to them as a couple.
** Because of this, Kurt and Blaine seem to have be promoted from BetaCouple to the Official Couple. They got together in the middle of season two and as of the season five premiere [[spoiler: are engaged]].
** There is also Emma and Will. [[spoiler: HappilyMarried as of the Season 4 finale "All or Nothing."]]
* ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'': Seasons 2 and 3 it was Buffy and Angel. For seasons 4 and 5 it Was Buffy and Riley.
* ''Series/{{Hannibal}}'': At the conclusion of season 3, not only are Margot and Alana happily married with a son, but [[spoiler: [[OppositesAttract Hannibal and Will]] confess their mutual feelings after killing together for the first time, embracing lovingly while nuzzling. In the end, they either die in each other's arms or fake their own deaths so they can run away together.]]
* ''Series/{{Psych}}'' sets up Shawn/Juliet over and over and over again...and then, at the end of season three, has Juliet confess that she is, in fact, in love with Shawn, while he was on a date with another girl. Since then, it seems to come up occasionally, but it's hard to tell if they've both moved past it or are just waiting for the right moment ''again''. In Season 5, they're officially together.
* Michael and Fiona in ''Series/BurnNotice''.
* In the last season of ''Series/{{Monk}}'' Randy Disher and Sharona became a couple.
* ''Series/MorkAndMindy''. [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin It's right there in the title!]]
* Piper and Leo in ''Series/{{Charmed}}''.
** There was also Prue and Andy, until Andy was killed off at the end of season 1. It is rumored that they may have reunited in the afterlife after Prue died two years later.
** Phoebe and Cole seemed for a while that they would be one of these, but then [[spoiler: she kills him and marries Coop.]]
* Arthur and Guinevere in ''Series/{{Merlin|2008}}''. As of the end of series 4, TheyDo and are HappilyMarried.
* Kermit and Miss Piggy through ''Series/TheMuppetShow'' and the rest of the Muppet-verse.
* J.R. and Sue Ellen and Bobby and Pam were the two main couples for most of ''Series/{{Dallas}}'' 's run. However, neither ended up together in the end.
* Gary and Valene were the one couple that remained endgame throughout ''Series/KnotsLanding'''s run.
%%% * Sam and Diane in the early seasons of ''Series/{{Cheers}}'', until Diane left at the end of season 5, although she did return in the series finale.
%%% ** Sam and Rebecca in later seasons.
* Superboy and Lana in ''Series/TheAdventuresOfSuperboy''.
* Brenda and Dylan were the main official couple of ''Series/BeverlyHills90210'' in the early seasons, but the pairing of Dylan and Kelly became so popular at the time that he ended up with her instead. Of course now, most fans wished he ended up with Brenda instead just as they wished Kelly ended up with Brandon. Also, David and Donna ultimately end up with each other in the end.
* Clark and Lois of course in ''Series/LoisAndClark''.
* Cory and Topanga in ''Series/BoyMeetsWorld''.
* Niles and Daphne in ''Series/{{Frasier}}'' managed to be an official couple throughout eight whole years of UnrequitedLove, [[UnresolvedSexualTension UST]], and WillTheyOrWontThey before even making a move, never mind getting together, ''and'' despite Niles being married to someone else for the better part of that period. They were relegated to BetaCouple afterwards.
* Eric and Donna in ''Series/That70sShow''. Fez and Jackie suddenly become this in the final season, much to the disgust of both Hyde/Jackie and Kelso/Jackie shippers.
* ''Series/DaysOfOurLives'' has a few. No matter what happens or how bad it looks, there's no way [[CowboyCop Bo]] and [[UptownGirl Hope]], [[ActionHero John]] and [[DistressedDamsel Marlena]], and [[LovableRogue Jack]] and [[GirlNextDoor Jennifer]] don't end up together. There's also, of course, patriarch and matriarch Tom and Alice Horton.
* While ''Series/{{Passions}}'' had several official couples, the most prominent ones were Ethan & Theresa and Luis & Sheridan, although only the former ended up together with Luis ending up with Sheridan's niece Fancy, and Sheridan ending up with Luis' brother, Antonio, her first husband.
* Max and Logan in ''Series/DarkAngel''.
* Ed and Carol in ''Series/{{Ed}}''.
* ''Series/{{Smallville}}'' has had several official couples during its 10-year run.
** Clark and Lana were set up this way for the first seven seasons, [[DoomedByCanon even though fans know from the very beginning that they don't end up together.]]
** After Lana left, Clark and Lois became the offical couple of the series.
** Oliver and Chloe from season eight onwards.
* Joey and Alex in ''Series/{{Joey}}''.
* ''Series/GreysAnatomy'':
** The main official couple is Derek and Meredith. [[spoiler:That may not last, though, as they hit a rough patch, and Derek may be about to move to D.C. to work for the President]].
** Christina and Preston in the first three seasons, until Preston's departure at the end of season 3.
** There is also Richard and Adele, Alex and Izzie, and George and Lexie, until George is killed off at the end of season 5.
** By the end of Season 11 the official couples are Alex and Jo, Richard and Catherine and Bailey and Ben.
* Sookie and Bill in ''Series/TrueBlood''.
* Elliot and Kathy Stabler in ''Series/LawAndOrderSpecialVictimsUnit''.
* Jack [=McCoy=] and Claire Kincaid in ''Series/LawAndOrder'', although this is not confirmed until the season nine episode "Sideshow," [[spoiler: three seasons after Claire's death]].
* Scott and Allison in ''Series/TeenWolf''. They are the main canon romantic couple of the series.
* Stefan and Elena in ''Series/TheVampireDiaries''. The entire series centres around their love story and their relationship is known to be the anchor of the entire series.
** As of now, Damon and Elena have become the official couple.
** Matt and Caroline in season one. Although, Tyler and Caroline slowly start bonding due to their supernatural identities in season two.
** Tyler and Caroline in season two onwards, although Caroline develops some feelings for Klaus in season three.
** Alaric and Jenna in season one to season two.
** Jeremy and Anna in season one.
** Jeremy and Bonnie in season two onwards.
* Adam and Cassie in ''Series/TheSecretCircle''.
* Inspector Series/SledgeHammer [[CargoShip and his gun]] is as canonical as it gets, given that he's regularly shown ''sleeping'' with it. Justified by RuleOfFunny.
* John Sheridan and Ambassador Delenn of ''Series/BabylonFive'', who, as mentioned elsewhere, walked through fire for their love and lasted the entire run of the show. (Sheridan doesn't appear until season two, although a later-but-earlier TV movie indicates they met prior to the series.)
* On ''Series/{{ER}}'', couples came and went, with everyone dating everyone else at some point or another. The longest-lasting and most plot-driving couples on the show were [[HappilyMarried Mark and Elizabeth]] and [[SlapSlapKiss Abby and Luka]], with minor pairings being Susan with flight nurse Chuck, Peter and Cleo, and lesbians Kerry and Sandy, [[spoiler: which ended tragically]].
** Doug and Carol as well.
* [[Series/HappyDays Joanie Cunningham and Chachi Arcola]]. After their own series (''Joanie Loves Chachi'') tanked, they got married.
* Zack and Kelly in ''Series/SavedByTheBell''.
* John Crichton and Aeryn Sun of ''Series/{{Farscape}}''. The chemistry between them left many a fangirl panting. And there was a ''lot'' of chemistry, right up until the very end. (Also a very neat avoidance of ShippingBedDeath.)
* ''Series/OnceUponATime'':
** Snow White and Prince Charming. They start out the show getting married, so even though in the present they aren't together, ya know it's gonna happen again eventually. [[RomanceOnTheSet Also with their actors in real life, too]].
** As of season three's finale, [[spoiler:Killian/Captain Hook and Emma]]. WordOfGod says it was always intended to be canon, making it even more official than official.
* In ''Series/TheCloser'', Brenda Leigh Johnson and Fritz Howard start out as friends with UST, reunited when Brenda's new job moves her close to him, and their relationship progresses to dating, engagement, and marriage in a fairly predictable manner.
* Jim and Pam in ''Series/{{The Office|US}}''.
** Dwight and Angela were this in at least the early seasons, and even though they haven't actually been together in over five years, their relationship has remained a big part of the show throughout it's run. No matter how bad things seem at times, something always happens to make them revisit their feelings for each other. Add to that a nice dose of WillTheyOrWontThey, ''{{Unresolved Sexual Tension}}'', and ''{{Unrequited Love Switcheroo}}''.
** Michael and Holly from the end of season 4 onwards.
* Leslie and Ben in ''Series/ParksAndRecreation'', as well as [[spoiler: Ann and Chris]] during season 6
* ''Series/{{Garo}}'' has Kouga and Kaoru. There was also Rei and Shizuka but she died before the series began.
* ''Series/{{JAG}}'' had 9 seasons of UST between the two leads, Harm & Mac, plus a HappilyMarried couple (Bud & Harriet).
* Richard and Kahlan from ''Series/LegendOfTheSeeker'', which wasted absolutely ''no'' time telegraphing the fact that they were destined to be together. Unsurprisingly, this was also a ForegoneConclusion for anyone who had read [[Literature/SwordOfTruth the books on which the series is based]].
* ''Series/CallTheMidwife'' has had one every series.
** Series 1: Chummy and Peter Noakes.
** Series 2: [[spoiler:Dr Turner and Sister Bernadette]].
** Series 3: Trixie and Tom Hereward.
* ''Series/The100'' is not overly concerned with romance; most potential romances either never get off the ground or crash and burn shortly after they're introduced. The notable exception is Lincoln and Octavia, who hook up halfway through Season 1, and, while occasionally seperated by circumstances, always find their way back together and never waver in their devotion to each other.
* Walter and Paige from ''Series/{{Scorpion}}.''
* Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse:
** ''Series/Daredevil2015'': Matt Murdock and Karen Page
** ''Series/LukeCage2016'': Luke Cage and Claire Temple
* ''Series/TheWalkingDead'' has HappilyMarried Glenn and Maggie. As of Season 6, we also have [[spoiler: Rick and Michonne.]]
* Jane and Lisbon in ''Series/TheMentalist'' albeit with all the problems that one can be expected with someone as broken as Jane. They end [[spoiler:HappilyMarried in the series finale.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* Quote and Curly in ''VideoGame/CaveStory''.
* Guybrush and Elaine from ''VideoGame/MonkeyIsland''.
* Calill and Largo from ''Franchise/FireEmblem: [[VideoGame/FireEmblemTellius Radiant Dawn]]''.
** While ''Fire Emblem'''s support system is designed to allow mix-and-match pairings, several characters in ''Radiant Dawn'' have a specific love interest whom they will marry at the end of the game, provided the Support level between the two of them is high enough; Calill and Largo are already married when they're introduced, which just means you don't have to do the work.
** ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemElibe Fire Emblem: Binding Blade]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemElibe Blazing Sword]]'' (and to some degree, ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheSacredStones The Sacred Stones]]''). Most ''Fire Emblem'' games leave character coupling a bit more open to truly please as many fans as possible. Generally a main character can have around five possible romantic endings, where the background cast generally has at least one, with a few HoYay and LesYay pairings.
** The first half of ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemJugdral Genealogy of the Holy War]]'' was a memorable exception to this openness, as Deirdre becomes bonded to main character Sigurd as soon as she joins the party.
** Other examples include [[VideoGame/FireEmblemAkaneia Marth/Caeda]], [[VideoGame/FireEmblemGaiden Alm/Celica]], and [[VideoGame/FireEmblemJugdral Leif/Nanna]] in ''[=FE5=]'' (though he could be freely paired in ''4''). It wasn't until later that the series' main Lords were given a choice of love interests. Each of these couples explicitly marry in the game's ending provided both are alive by then. (This will ''always'' be the case for Alm/Celica, as either of them dying would result in a GameOver anyway.)
** ''Binding Blade'' and its prequel ''Blazing Sword'' do not deny many couples. Most of the cast in ''Blazing Sword'' that have kids in ''Binding Blade'' don't explicitly name the other parent, so 2-3 other characters can end up marrying them by the player's choice of gameplay. Only six of the characters in ''Blazing Sword'' have defined relationships: the Fighter Bartre must end up with the Swordmaster Karla, the Sage Pent and the Sniper Louise are married from the start, and the Shaman Canas has a wife and son never met [[spoiler:(though it turns out he's one of the mages in ''Binding Blade'', Hugh).]] Hawkeye is also married, and [[spoiler:the father of archer Ingrene in ''Binding Blade'']]. The game still seems to favor [[TheHero Eliwood]][=/=][[MysteriousWaif Ninian]], [[TheLancer Hector]][=/=][[ActionGirl Lyn]], and [[TeenGenius Nino]][=/=][[HitmanWithAHeart Jaffar]].
** In ''Binding Blade'', the official couples are Juno/Zealot (married from the start, though you can A-support them to their friends and family as well as each other) and [[spoiler:Astore/Ingrene (their supports reveal that he's her missing husband Goloris and the father of her deceased child, though even if you A-support them it's up in their air whether they get back together)]]. It also favors Roy/Lilina, with the ending scene of the game being different if they have an A-support.
** Sothe and Micaiah from ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemTellius Radiant Dawn]]'' are so official that they start out with max Support for each other. You have to go out of your way to make them not end up together. Ike and Soren have a lot of vibes of this, too; Ike's only other paired ending is Ranulf, and if you fulfill certain conditions in your second playthrough you get a special bonus talk about their past together.
** Other examples from throughout the series include Astram/Midia, Julian/Lena, Radd/Ceaser's unnamed sister, Abel/Est, and Merric/Elice from [[VideoGame/FireEmblemAkaneia the Akaneia titles]], Lewyn/Ferry (not outright confirmed until the {{interquel}} ''Thracia 776'', but VERY heavily implied in ''Geneology'') and Altena/Areone (not 100% confirmed, but given she can't be paired with anyone in your army...) from [[VideoGame/FireEmblemJugdral the Jugdral games]], and, as a series-wide example[[note]]excluding ''Awakening''[='s=] Anna, who is stated to be [[MassiveNumberedSiblings a]] [[UncannyFamilyResemblance different]] [[InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals Anna]][[/note]], Anna/Jake.
** ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening'' uses the ''Genealogy'' pairing system, and requires that Chrom, the main character, get married by a certain point in the game [[note]]Chapter 11, to be specific[[/note]]. In addition, any characters that can support and reach rank S will get married on S rank, giving the player some options. However, this game heavily leans towards either Sumia or the Female Avatar being Chrom's bride:
*** Sumia and Chrom: The cutscene where Sumia rescues Chrom in Chapter 3 is entitled "Lovebirds" in the Theater, and she is depicted in the game's opening cutscene with Chrom and holding baby Lucina. If the player does not have Chrom with an S support by the point that the game makes him marry, the game will choose a woman for him based on support points, which Sumia starts with the highest number of. And if they're not married but have enough support points by the end of chapter 11, a special battle-model cutscene of Sumia and Chrom embracing will prefix their talk and Chrom's marriage proposal.
*** The Female Avatar and Chrom: They're the main characters of the story, getting a lot of screen time and ShipTease and a ton of importance placed on their bond. [[spoiler:The "Lucina's Judgment" scene in chapter 21 even goes differently if the Avatar is her mother and Chrom's voice is what brings the Avatar back when she's being held hostage by Grima in the final chapter]].
*** The CD dramas bring it up to ''three'' by having Lucina as an only child, which only happens if Chrom doesn't marry any of his potential brides by chapter 11. So the Village Maiden is his official wife for this continuity, at least.
** ''VideoGame/FireEmblemFates'' once again has no set couples, but Azura and the Male Avatar come close with their strong bond, lots of screen time and ShipTease together, fast support growth, and the fact that they have three different support conversations together in a game where every other pair has one. Azura even has three unique [[LoveConfession confessions]] to go with them.
* ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'': While the series usually adheres to NoHuggingNoKissing, there are a few exceptions.
** WordOfGod says that, in the Adult Timeline, which has ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker'' and ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaPhantomHourglass'', there will be some romance between Link and Zelda. She also has a more active role in that chronological branch.
** Link and Zelda are also a couple in [[Manga/TheLegendOfZelda the manga]], [[WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfZelda the animated series]], and [[ComicBook/TheLegendOfZelda the comic books]], though none of these are canon.
** There's an optional RomanceSidequest in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword'' with Item Check Lady Peatrice. Whether you become a couple is your choice.
** The various games also have official couples not involving the Hero. For example, ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Majora's Mask]]'' has Kafei and Anju, ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker The Wind Waker]]'' has Anton and Linda, ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess Twilight Princess]]'' has the HappilyMarried Rusl and Uli, and ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword Skyward Sword]]'' has Pipit and Karane.
* ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'', largely due to reveling in ThePowerOfLove, generally has one set per game/route when it comes to their OriginalGeneration characters:
** The first set comes from ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars4'' with Irmgult "Irm" Kazahara and Ring Mao, who were later given cameo appearances in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsAlpha''.
** The Alpha series has, starting with the second game, Kusuha Mizuha and Brooklyn "Bullet" Luckfield, Arado Balanga and Seolla Schweizer, and Touma Kanou and Minaki Tomine.
** The ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsCompact2'' trilogy and ''[[VideoGameRemake Impact]]'' has Kyosuke Nanbu and Excellen Browning, whose dynamic is so strong in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration'' they have thus far become the SpotlightStealingSquad.
** Of course, the ''Original Generation'' games carry all of the above, but also ropes in the forgotten character archetypes from the first Alpha game and pairs them up (Ryoto Hikawa/Rio Mei Long, Tasuku Shinguji/Leona Garstein, Yuuki Jaggar/Ricarla "Carla" Borgnine).
** The ''Masou Kishin'' story also has Masaki Andoh and Wendy. It also features Tytti Noorbuck and Ricardo Silvera ([[spoiler:although the latter coupling's played [[KilledOffForReal tragically]]]].
* Gordon and Alyx in ''VideoGame/HalfLife2''. Gordon is silent and controlled by the player, but Alyx has clearly fallen for Gordon.
* ''VideoGame/NeverwinterNights'':
** The main campaign of the first game suffers from only having one option for each gender of player character (Juhani doesn't really count; that arc was never really developed). There was also the option to flirt with some of your companions, although the actual relationship never went beyond, say, "I think we could be more than JustFriends, Sharwyn".
** Cut content in ''VideoGame/NeverwinterNights2'' ensures that there is only one option for each gender in the main campaign and in Mask of the Betrayer, but technically with restored content plus the fact that the same character is running through both stories gives each gender three options. However, the fact that the main campaign options all died in the RocksFallEveryoneDies ending, and Neeshka and Bishop were the cut characters, forces the conclusion that male character/Safiya and female character/Gann were what the writers intended.
** ''VideoGame/JadeEmpire'' has male Spirit Monk/Dawn Star, with Silk Fox appearing as a {{Clingy Jealous Girl}}friend if the player does not actively encourage her.
* ''Franchise/MassEffect'' does its best to avert this. However, the trailers always feature a male Shepard and pick a single woman to market as his love interest, for the most part. A traditional human choice is picked for both games: Ashley in the first (with the other option being a blue--albeit very [[GreenSkinnedSpaceBabe human-looking]]--alien) and Miranda in the second (opposed to the bald-and-crazy Jack or TheFaceless alien Tali). However, other than the trailers, almost everyone, devs included, stay away from calling the human love interests 'official.' Good thing too, because the [[InterspeciesRomance majority of the fandom]] would rip them apart if they did.
* [[spoiler:Meryl and Johnny]] of ''VideoGame/{{Metal Gear Solid 4|GunsOfThePatriots}}'' definitely counts. [[spoiler:The wedding at the end]] kind of makes it obvious. Also, [[spoiler: Raiden and Rose]].
* Marle and Crono from ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger''.
* ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'':
** Cecil and Rosa in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV''.
** Locke and Celes in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI''.
** Zack and Aerith in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII: VideoGame/CrisisCore''.
** Squall and Rinoa from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII'', whose relationship is so integral to the game's plot that the game's logo is the two of them embracing.
** Zidane and Garnet from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX''. BetaCouple Steiner and Beatrix as well.
** Tidus and Yuna from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'', as well as Wakka and Lulu who receive confirmation in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX2''.
** Serah and Snow from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII''.
** As of ''LightningReturnsFinalFantasyXIII'', [[spoiler:Noel and Yuel]] are also canon.
** In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyType0'', there's Machina and Rem. [[spoiler:The epilogue says that they are married after the events of the game.]]
** In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXV'', Noctis and Lunafreya [[spoiler: who are TogetherInDeath.]]
* ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'': Sora and Kairi. So much so that [[spoiler: Sora's love for Kairi forms the basis of Xion's identity and the reason behind Sora's rapid recovery after being AsleepForDays.]]
* Mario and Princess Peach from ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' swing between this and ImpliedLoveInterest, depending on the game and the role they play in it. Considering their history and the fact that Mario will gladly go out of his way to save her, this is hardly a surprise. Peach even has a ring on her left middle finger in the ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' series. She also wore a ring in ''VideoGame/SuperMarioSunshine'', though the ring was red instead of blue and worn on the opposite hand.
* The ''VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork'' series has Lan Hikari and Mayl Sakurai, who are revealed to be married with a kid during the post-series epilogue. The sequel, ''VideoGame/MegaManStarForce'', equally leans towards Geo/Sonia and Geo/Luna, so it has LoveTriangle fun every now and then.
* Even ''VideoGame/{{Drakengard}}'', a series known for its dark tragedy, morbid horror and almost complete lack of romance, has an Official Couple with [[spoiler:Nowe/Manah]] in the second game.
* The ''VideoGame/TalesSeries'' usually has one in every game:
** Emil and Marta from ''VideoGame/TalesOfSymphoniaDawnOfTheNewWorld''.
** Luke and Tear from ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheAbyss''.
** Natalia and Asch also; the escort titles in particular like to get some [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqSSY2AHh1k extra mileage]] out of this one. [[spoiler: Of course, there's only one Luke in the end, so only one of the couples gets a happy ending.]]
** Cless and Mint from ''VideoGame/TalesOfPhantasia''. Chester and Arche as well. [[spoiler: When everyone had died in the far future, Arche grieved Chester's death the most.]]
** Stahn and Rutee from ''VideoGame/TalesOfDestiny'', and since their kid is the main character in the sequel, it's probably the most official of all Tales's couples. And said kid (Kyle) forms another official couple with [[YamatoNadeshiko Reala]]. In fact, in the end of the game [[spoiler:the universe acts to put the timeline back on its tracks, but opens an exception for Reala for her to be with Kyle]]. Because the couple is just ''that'' official.
** Lloyd and Colette from ''VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia''. The game has RelationshipValues, but Colette is the official one according to the [[FirstGirlWins intro]], the [[DamselInDistress storyline]], the RoadCone, the animated OVAs and to top it off the WordOfGod.
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfEternia'' was very official couple-y: with [[VictoriousChildhoodFriend Reid/Farah]] and [[BetaCouple Keele/Meredy]] both being official by the end and Max already married, Chat is left as the only member of the party ''not'' in an official couple when the credits roll.
** The official couple for ''VideoGame/TalesOfGraces'' is [[spoiler:Asbel and Cheria, even though Cheria's not the main heroine. The kicker is the DistantFinale scene of Sophie looking after a kid who looks like Asbel and Cheria.]]
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfHearts'' has Shing and Kohaku. The game even end during Shing's official confession to Kohaku.
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfInnocence'' pulled a page out of ReincarnationRomance for its official couple, Luca and Iria. However, ''Innocence'' has an extensive RelationshipValues system, meaning that, like Lloyd and Colette in ''VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia'', while Iria is the designated love interest, you can hook Luca up with whoever you want to, really. [[spoiler: And the ReincarnationRomance thing gets a hefty wrench chucked in it when you find out that Iria's past life murdered Ruca's past life and caused lots of bad things to happen. But Iria has severe AmnesiacDissonance, so it's all good.]]
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheTempest'' has borderline-PuppyLove Caius and Rubia.
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfTheWorld'' has (male) Descender and Kanonno Earhart in Radiant Mythology 2.
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfLegendia'': [[spoiler:Both Shirley and Chloe are in love with Senel who, despite ShipTease, doesn't seem to like any of the two particularly, instead claiming to not be over Stella, his dead girlfriend. In the end of the first half of the game, he seemingly hooked up with Shirley... but then Character Quests kick in, and he's still in the single men zone]]. So, you could say that [[spoiler:Senel and Stella were an official couple, but after she was KilledOffForReal so was the Official Coupling, but Senel just can't seem to get that through his head.]]
** ''VideoGame/TalesOfXillia'' has Jude and Milla, though it's more apparent in the second game.
** ''VideoGame/TalesofZestiria'' has Sorey and Mikleo.
* ''VideoGame/AssassinsCreedRevelations'' has Shaun Hastings mention that [[spoiler:Lucy Stillman said that she "liked" Desmond Miles]], not that that does anything now that [[spoiler:killed her under Juno's possession]].
* The ''VideoGame/AssassinsCreedI'' timeframe has Altair and Maria, while the ''VideoGame/AssassinsCreedII'' timeframe has Ezio and Sofia.
* ''VideoGame/JakAndDaxter'' has three: [[AntiHero Jak]] and [[WrenchWench Keira]], [[ActionGirl Ashelin]] and [[RebelLeader Torn]], and [[WeaselMascot Daxter]] and [[GeniusDitz Tess]].
* Chaz Ashley and Rika in the 4th installment of the ''PhantasyStar'' series. WordOfGod via the prelims for a canceled sequel support this.
* Fox [=McCloud=] and Krystal in the ''VideoGame/StarFox'' games. Ever since her introduction, it's been made clear that one of Krystal's roles is that of Fox's LoveInterest. ''Command'' left things in doubt when they split up briefly, featuring MultipleEndings; some endings where they got back together (even one where they became HappilyMarried with a son named Marcus), some featured them splitting apart. But it seems that game is [[CanonDiscontinuity being ignored]] and her profile in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosBrawl'' the later year, whilst acknowledging their "relationship problems" from ''Command'' still cites them as being romantically involved at current time.
* ''VideoGame/EarthBoundBeginnings'' has [[PuppyLove Ninten/Ana]], which is so official that they have a DanceOfRomance, during which Ana pointblank asks Ninten if he likes her at one point and they confess their love to each other.
* As soon as it was announced that ''VideoGame/GoldenSunDarkDawn'' would feature the children of the characters from the first two games, the latter ones would invoke this trope indirectly. Also, in the second game, Sheba makes a comment to Jenna along the lines of "Aren't you and Isaac, like... an item?"
* The third ''VideoGame/ProfessorLayton'' game has the background of Layton's only known canonical relationship -- his college sweetheart, Claire. It's heavily implied that he was going to propose to her [[spoiler:the day she was killed in a time machine explosion]].
* ''VideoGame/LunarTheSilverStar'' has Alex and Luna, Nash and Mia, and Jessica and Kyle. ''VideoGame/LunarEternalBlue'' has Hiro and Lucia, as well as Ronfar and Mauri.
* In ''VideoGame/SilentHillHomecoming'', Alex and Elle are heavily implied to be around that area or moving toward it, if not already there.
* ''VideoGame/BreathOfFireII'' strongly implies that the Ryu and Nina from the original ''Breath of Fire'' married.
* ''[[Franchise/ShinMegamiTenseiPersona Persona]]'':
** In ''VideoGame/{{Persona 3}}'' there is Junpei and [[spoiler:[[DatingCatwoman Chidori]]]], who are so official that even though [[spoiler:she dies]], the [[DistaffCounterpart Female Protagonist]] can [[PlatonicLifePartners only be friends with Junpei]].
** The manga adaptation of ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}'' looks to be pushing [[spoiler: the Protagonist and Rise]] into this direction. There's been additional ShipTease between the two [[AdaptationExpansion that wasn't even in the game]].
** Likewise, the [[Anime/Persona3TheMovie film version]] of ''VideoGame/{{Persona 3}}'' seems to be doing the same with [[spoiler: Makoto and [[RobotGirl Aigis]]]].
* ''VideoGame/KingsQuest'' : Graham and Valanice are HappilyMarried, as are Alexander and Cassima. Rosella and Edgar wisely agreed to a proper courtship canonically, but the FanSequel opens on their wedding day.
* ''VideoGame/SpaceQuest'': Roger Wilco is fated to marry and have a son with Beatrice. However, that didn't stop Flo from shamelessly flirting with him, nor did it prevent the Two Guys from throwing in some interesting ShipTease with Stellar Santiago in the final game.
* Maxim and Selan from ''VideoGame/LufiaIIRiseOfTheSinistrals''. Thanks for the game to be the prequel of the first game, in which showing them being TogetherInDeath, [[UnluckyChildhoodFriend Tia has no chance.]]
** TheHero and Lufia in ''the Fortess of Doom.'' Aguro and Jerin may or may not be the BetaCouple.
** Wain and Seena in ''the Legend Returns.'' Seems like Maxim's descendants are destined to end up with [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair blue hair]] [[spoiler: incarnations of Erim]] for most of the times.
* While the relationship between the main trio of Vyse, Aika, and Fina is left ambiguous in ''VideoGame/SkiesOfArcadia'', Enrique and Moegi is definitely official. [[spoiler: The first scene of the ending is their marriage.]]
* In ''VideoGame/BlazBlue'', there's Jin Kisaragi and Tsubaki Yayoi. There is literally no other woman Jin cares for more than Tsubaki, and everyone, in-universe and out, can see them being with each other. Ragna makes the connection pretty quick, Noel enjoys the concept (she had pragmatic reasons for taking the job under Jin, or she'd have held out for Tsubaki to have it), and Makoto makes it no secret that she [[ShipperOnDeck ships]] the two of them.
* In ''VideoGame/GuiltyGear'' to the shock of the fanbase, Ky Kiske and Dizzy fell in love and had a son together. If this is known to the public in-universe, it will be quite a scandal as this is a forbidden relationship of epic proportions.
* ''Franchise/MortalKombat'':
** Liu Kang and Princess Kitana have been this since the [[VideoGame/MortalKombat4 fourth tournament]]. Kitana offered him a place at her side, ruling Edenia for the foreseeable future. He declined only because of his status as Champion of Earthrealm; Even after Liu Kang's death, his spirit anchored itself to her due to their powerful bond.
** Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade are the only other fighters that are romantically linked, mostly from the former's advances. Scorpion and his late wife Kara Hazashi were also this before the destruction of their clan, married with a child no less.
* ''VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters'' has buttloads of ShipTease of all kinds, straight and queer, but very few official couples. Among them there's Kyo's parents Saisyu and Shizuka, as well as Kyo himself and his girlfriend Yuki.
* The ''[[{{VideoGame/Ultima}} Ultima]]'' series has Iolo/Gwenno.
* The Red Spy and the mother of the Blue Scout in VideoGame/TeamFortress2, as revealed at the end of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR4N5OhcY9s&noredirect=1 "Meet the Spy"]]. In the comics, there's also the Soldier and Zhanna (who is one of the Heavy's younger sisters).
* Zael and Calista in ''VideoGame/TheLastStory''.
* The main objective of ''VideoGame/PandorasTower'' is that Aeron has to find a way to dispel Elena's curse so they can spend the rest of their lives together.
* Welkin and Alicia in ''VideoGame/ValkyriaChronicles''. [[spoiler: It ends with them raising their daughter together.]]
* The PlayerCharacter and Fran in ''VideoGame/DemonGaze''. [[spoiler:They share an intimate moment before the final battle and the epilogue shows Fran with her and the PC's daughter.]]
* The hero and Medea in ''VideoGame/DragonQuestVIII''. [[spoiler: The GoldenEnding ends up with them both married.]] In the 3ds version, however, you can change it to [[spoiler: the hero with Jessica.]]
* ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' has [[spoiler:Alphys and Undyne, which is initially a one-way crush but becomes mutual shortly before the Pacifist Route final boss. Toriel and Asgore were married at some point before the story begins, but have divorced by the time the player assumes control. Whether they ever get back together is left ambiguous, although it seems Toriel would rather stay apart.]]
* ''VideoGame/{{Xenogears}}'' has Fei and Elly. Since a part of their plot is about their past incarnations being StarCrossedLovers and how [[EarnYourHappyEnding their love have allowed to end the cycle.]]
* ''VideoGame/{{Xenosaga}}'' has Allen and Shion at the end of episode 3.
* ''VideoGame/Disgaea2CursedMemories'' has Adell and Rozalin, as foreshadowed heavily by the game's intro. The two start out as enemies, learn to respect and trust each other, [[HeIsNotMyBoyfriend go through repeated flustering denials to the rest of the party]], and end the game living together [[spoiler:after Adell uses ThePowerOfLove (and a BigDamnKiss) to seal away the SuperpoweredEvilSide of Rozalin's past life]]. When making cameos in later games, they almost inevitably come as a pair in DLC and everyone automatically assumes they're married.
* ''VideoGame/RuneFactory'' allows the protagonist of each game to marry whomever he (or she, later on) wants, but there are certain love interests who the devs give special attention to in the intros, plot and official materials, and are clearly intended to be the canon choice.
** In the first game, the official couple was ''originally'' Raguna and [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Mist]]; however, the sequel, ''VideoGame/RuneFactoryFrontier'' retcons them to being friends, and later official material heavily suggests that in ''Frontier'' Raguna's canon wife was instead [[MysteriousWaif Iris]].
** In ''VideoGame/RuneFactory2'', [[DaddysGirl Mana]] is pushed as the love interest for Kyle. The intro is almost ''solely'' about them, and numerous people around town seem to expect them to hook up.
** ''VideoGame/RuneFactory3'' pushes [[InnocentFlowerGirl Shara]] as the love interest for Micah, notably in the second intro where he always runs to and embraces her, regardless of who he actually married.
** ''VideoGame/RuneFactoryOceans'' clearly intends for the two deuteragonists, Aden and Sonja, to be a couple, seeing as whichever one you don't play as starts out with love points instead of friendship points.
** ''VideoGame/RuneFactory4'' doesn't have the same in-game pushing and intro favoritism the others do, but the official manga of the game pairs Lest up with [[SugarAndIcePersonality Dolce]] and Frey with [[{{Tsundere}} Dylas]].
* At the end of ''VideoGame/ProjectXZone'' 2, Reiji [[spoiler: Propose to Xiaomu in marriage]].
* ''VideoGame/PowerInstinct'': [[spoiler: Keith Wayne and Annie Hamilton. Cemented in the third game where they are married with a son, Chris (who, sadly, inherited none of his parents' kindness).]]
* ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles'' has [[spoiler: Shulk and Fiora]] after the latter returns into a human body.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Visual Novels]]
* Mia and Diego from ''VisualNovel/AceAttorney''. Diego's even referred to Mia's boyfriend by Grossberg at one point. Also to some extent, Gumshoe and Maggey. If only the big lug could work up the courage to ask her out, weenies just don't quite have the same effect. Ron and Desiree Delite, too.
* Tomoya and Nagisa in ''VisualNovel/{{CLANNAD}}''. While it is a DatingSim, Nagisa has both the anime, the movie, the cover of the game and the after story (plus its anime) on her side.
* Creator/TypeMoon:
** VisualNovel/{{Tsukihime}} and ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' have multiple official couples in each game, due to the multiple routes and the author's "every route is canon" stance. Each has a "default" couple however, belonging to the first route in their game and being the most common pairing in spinoffs such as anime or manga.
** Technically, she doesn't even really have an appearance except in the first two routes and Shiki can end up with one of five girls, but Arcueid/Shiki is the default official couple in ''Tsukihime''. Her own path is first, the anime is based on her and the manga is based on her. Oh, and despite ''VideoGame/MeltyBlood'' supposedly being based off [[DemotedToExtra Satsuki's route]], Sion mentions that Shiki and Arcueid are lovers, though apparently they don't live together.
** ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'' has Shirou/Saber, Shirou/Rin, and Shirou/Sakura, thanks to the Nasuverse rule that all routes are canon, so all couples are canon. The later adaptations (''Anime/FateStayNightUnlimitedBladeWorks'' and ''Manga/FateKaleidLinerPrismaIllya'') support this.
* Kurou Daijuuji and Al-Azif in ''VisualNovel/{{Demonbane}}''. The visual novel allows to choose one of three heroines, but the sequel, ''Kishin Hishou Demonbane'', confirms Kurou and Al as the Official Couple ([[spoiler:with kids and all, though it's a little complicated...]])
* ''VisualNovel/HigurashiWhenTheyCry'' does not have one, but was by WordOfGod supposed to be [[spoiler:Keiichi and Mion.]] However, that idea dropped right after strong hints, along with [[spoiler:Keiichi and Rena]]. Also, the pairing: [[spoiler: Satoshi and Shion]] tied with the former two pairings, all being non-canon.
* While ''VisualNovel/SteinsGate'' allows for multiple options in the Visual Novel, the [[AnimeOfTheGame anime adaptation]] and the true ending firmly decides that Okabe's official girlfriend is [[spoiler:Kurisu]].
* In ''VisualNovel/UminekoWhenTheyCry'', all the couples are official, with the married parents of course, as well as George/Shannon, Jessica/Kanon, and in Chiru [[spoiler:Battler/Beatrice adn Kinzō/Beatrice Castiglioni.]] But, by ''Franchise/WhenTheyCry'''s [[MindScrew standards]], it gets a bit more complicated when it's made clear that [[spoiler:Shannon, Kanon and Beatrice are all personas created by "Yasu", with which the three cousins successively and unwittingly fell in love. All this stems from Yasu's internal issues but also fuels them by putting [[AmbiguousGender them]] in an emotional dead-end.]] Bernkastel and Lambdadelta are also confirmed to love each other, [[TheMasochismTango in a sort of twisted way.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Animation]]
* Much to the ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' fandom's glee, Jaune and Pyrrha became official during the Volume Three Finale. [[spoiler:Only to have it torn away when Cinder kills Pyrrha during the same episode]].
* Tex and Church are the official couple in ''Machinima/RedVsBlue''. Although they have a ''very'' tempestuous relationship and usually act more like enemies than a couple, neither ever denies it.
* Koden and Amber, the only two sane characters from ''WebAnimation/DSBTInsaniT''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Comics]]
* Ash and Emily from ''Webcomic/{{Misfile}}'' crossed over into Official Couple status with [[http://www.misfile.com/?date=2013-01-16 this page]]
* ''Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick'':
** Elan and Haley.
** Extraplanar version: Roy and Celia.
** [[UnholyMatrimony Evil version]]: Nale and Sabine.
* From ''Webcomic/QuestionableContent'', Jeph Jaques is on record saying that Martin and [[{{Tsundere}} Faye]] were the official couple for the first 500 strips or so; however, before it visibly materialized, he changed his mind (later saying in the comic that they would have been a terrible couple) and delivered a WhamEpisode that got rid of Martin/Faye and set up Martin/Dora. He later paired Faye up with Angus [=McPhee=]. However, he then broke up Marten and Dora and put Marten together with Padma, a new character, only to reveal that Padma would be leaving soon to California to take care of her mother. There's no other official word on it yet.
* [[TheHero Zill]] and [[TheChick Kay]][[TheHeart la]] in ''Webcomic/{{Zoophobia}}''.
* In ''Webcomic/RedString'', there's [[spoiler:SchoolgirlLesbians Fuuko and Hanae]], and the [[EveryoneCanSeeIt almost]] BetaCouple of Reika and Eiji.
* Lance and Silvia in [[http://www.shapequest.net Shape Quest]], despite being [[http://www.shapequest.net/?id=113 rather oblivious to it]].
* Aubrey and Jason in ''Webcomic/SomethingPositive''.
* Tom and Karla in ''Home on the Strange''.
* Piro and Kimiko from ''Webcomic/{{Megatokyo}}''.
* [[spoiler: Helen and Dave]] from ''Webcomic/{{Narbonic}}'' Also [[spoiler: Mell and Caliban]] as the BetaCouple.
* [[{{Polyamory}} Rikk, Aly and Rumy Oberf]] in ''Webcomic/{{Fans}}''. Also Will and Shanna Erikson and Tim and Julia Mitts as beta couples.
* Alan/Bea in the 18th - century in the ''Webcomic/TheDreamer''.
* ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'' has three: Tedd/Grace, Elliot/Sarah ([[spoiler: formerly ]]) and Ellen/Nanase.
* ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'' has [[DotingParent Dad Egbert]] / [[AlcoholicParent Mom Lalonde]]. They even have a romantic dinner together. [[spoiler: Then they die.]] Their Official Couple status is cemented in [[http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=004294 this update explaining the Troll Romance Quadrants]], where they're given as the paradigm for "matesprits" the closest parallel to human romance that Trolls have. Later on, Spades Slick and Ms. Paint. Despite implications that he used to have a thing for Ms. Paint himself, [[AuthorAvatar Hussie]] decides not to come between them and declares their ship canon on the spot.
* Predictably, the Girl and the Fed from ''Webcomic/AGirlAndHerFed''.
* Bob and Jean in ''Webcomic/TheInexplicableAdventuresOfBob.''
* Webcomic/{{Walkyverse}} has Walky and Joyce. In the continuity spin-off ''Webcomic/{{Shortpacked}}'' it's Amber and ''[[DracoInLeatherPants Mike]]'' of all people.
* ''Persona for the Win'':
** ''Webcomic/Persona3FTW'' stays in line with ''VideoGame/Persona3'''s hints and has MC/Aigis as the canon couple and [=FemC=]/Shinjiro in the ''Persona 3 FTW'' DistaffCounterpart storyline.
** ''WebComic/Persona4TW'' originally had MC/Rise; however, ''WebComic/Persona4TWAddOn'' had them break up, and ''Gold'n Persona 4TW'' (which takes place in between the two) shows the cracks that led to them breaking up, and also indicates that MC/Marie will be the official couple in the future.
** As for ''WebComic/Persona2Win'', the official couple there is MC/Jun.
* Ally and Lisa of ''Webcomic/{{Sunstone}}''.
* Camel and Filoni in ''Webcomic/AgentsOfTheRealm'', established pretty quickly.
* Fate and Love in ''Webcomic/{{Deities}}'' have been a couple since their first appearance.

[[folder:Web Original]]
* ''Literature/LegionOfNothing'' has a few of these. The current Heroes League has Nick and his girlfriend Haley. Earlier you had Nick's grandfather Joe Van Der Sloot and his wife Romy.
* Website/ThatGuyWithTheGlasses:
** While mostly having a reputation for slash, the TGWTG fangirl fandom ''adored'' former real-life pairings Linkara/Iron Liz and Spoony/Scarlett. There's also a "that's so adorable!" {{squee}} over Doug getting engaged to his girlfriend.
** Later on, there's WebVideo/JesuOtaku / [[WebVideo/WhatTheFuckIsWrongWithYou Nash]] and WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick[=/=]WebVideo/ToddInTheShadows. This one's layered: Lindsay and Todd are dating in real life, but in-character WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick pursues WebVideo/ToddInTheShadows, [[AllLoveIsUnrequited who brushes her off and pines for]] / [[StalkerWithACrush stalks]] Creator/AllisonPregler aka Lupa, who is in a relationship with {{Phelous}} as well.
** Regarding Chick, Lindsay and Doug confirmed in the ''WesternAnimation/FernGullyTheLastRainforest'' commentary that all of her ShipTease with WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic was intentional and that the characters [[KilledOffForReal had]] an ambiguous-on-details-but-very-real thing going on.
** Doug gave his approval for Critic and Snob to be labelled "Internet Reviewer Boyfriends".
** Hyper Fangirl and Devil Boner (lovingly named Hyper-Boner) are AxCrazy SickeninglySweethearts that bond over who kidnapped Critic best.
* Cecil and Carlos end up as one in ''Podcast/WelcomeToNightVale''.
* ''WebVideo/CriticalRole''
** Within the party, [[spoiler:[[TheSneakyGuy Vax'ildan]] and [[BadassPrincess Keyleth]]'s relationship finally became official in Episode 65 after many complications and hardships from both.]]
** Likewise, [[spoiler:[[TheGunslinger Percival de Rolo]] and [[ArcherArchetype Vex'ahlia]] had a ''lot'' of ShipTease between them until Episode 69 [[AnguishedDeclarationOfLove where Vex confessed during his resurrection ritual]], Episode 72 [[BigDamnKiss when Percy boldly kissed her]], and Episode 78 [[PreClimaxClimax when they spent what they believed to be their last night together]].]]
** After 60 episodes worth of hints and speculation from fans and party members alike, Matt Mercer confirmed that fan favorites [[spoiler:[[PintSizedPowerhouse Lady Kima]] and [[TheArchmage Allura Vysoren]] were together, having rekindled an old relationship from their adventuring days.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* Robin and Starfire on ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans''.
* ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'':
** Aang and Katara. Co-creators Mike and Bryan openly state that it is not the result of fan opinion, but a concrete element of the storyline from the get-go when they were developing it around 2003. It's not hard to believe that Aang/Katara was intended from the get-go, since there's a HeIsNotMyBoyfriend moment in the ''second episode''. The two eventually become HappilyMarried with three children after the end of the series, right up until Aang's death prior to the beginning of ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra''.
** Zuko and Mai was planned right from the start.
** There's also Sokka and Suki, who double as the BetaCouple.
** ''[[Comicbook/AvatarTheLastAirbenderThePromise The Promise]]'', the comic sequel to the series, has actually cast some doubt on two couples that seemed ironclad in the show. Nothing's been resolved yet, but it would appear that a [[spoiler:Sokka-Suki-Zuko-Mai love quadrangle]] is being built up, with [[spoiler:Suki developing a BodyguardCrush on Zuko while assigned to protect him]]. [[spoiler:Katara and Aang]], however, are safe, as ''Korra'' confirms BabiesEverAfter.
** As of Part 3 [[spoiler: Sokka and Suki are still just as official as they were in the series. Zuko and Mai is left up in the air until Smoke and Shadow, which ended with Mai splitting up with [[ReplacementLoveInterest Kei Lo]], implying a MaybeEverAfter between her and Zuko]].
* Korra and Mako in ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra''. [[spoiler: They broke up in the episode ''Peacekeepers'',]] leading instead to [[spoiler: [[BiTheWay Korra and Asami]]: After two seasons' worth of [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar surreptitious]] ShipTease, the series ends with them holding the other's hands, gently gazing into each other's eyes. WordOfGod confirms it.]]
* Jérémie and Aelita in ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko''. Contrast this with Ulrich and Yumi, who are the archetypical awkward [[UnresolvedSexualTension UST]], JustFriends and SheIsNotMyGirlfriend relationship.
* ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'':
** Kim and Ron. When the series came back for a [[PostScriptSeason fourth and final season]], the creators have repeatedly commented that they backed themselves into a corner with the trope, and had to be extremely careful not to jump the shark or gross out the ten-year-olds watching.
** Dr. Drakken and Shego are hinted to become this at the end of the series, during a LastMinuteHookup.
** Bonnie and Senor Senior, Jr. are not only an official couple, but also the BetaCouple, which must rankle Bonnie as the AlphaBitch.
* Jake and Rose in ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDragonJakeLong''.
* Danny and Sam in ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom''. Really not much of a challenge, as the only other major available female characters are the proverbial [[DatingCatwoman Catwoman]] and a second example of a RomanticFalseLead. Like most examples, at times, it's almost as if she's only there so that the writers can drop anything-but-subtle hints at the prospect of them "pairing up" [[LastMinuteHookup in the last two seconds of the series]].
* Robin (a.ka. Nightwing) and Batgirl in ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries''. At least until they have a falling out over Batman, and it's [[ImpliedLoveInterest implied]] that Barbara and ''Bruce'' became involved.
* Superman and ComicBook/LoisLane, of course, in ''WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries''.
* ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueUnlimited'' ComicBook/GreenLantern (John Stewart) and [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy Hawkgirl]], going through a whole era of being StarCrossedLovers when Hawkgirl's people invaded and she cooperated with them. Even once those issues were eventually cleared up, Stewart was in another relationship and had a hard time due to [[UnresolvedSexualTension lingering feelings]]. Things were made even more complicated when he met his and Hawkgirl's KidFromTheFuture Rex/Warhawk from the ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond'' era. The series ends with them apart; it's been stated by WordOfGod they will settle for each other eventually as John [[ScrewDestiny didn't want to]] get together BecauseDestinySaysSo. According to the Batman Beyond Unlimited comic (via multi-part short stories), [[spoiler:Vixen is killed by Shadow Thief. John swears revenge and shaves off his goatee. Shayara decides to go with him as Adam Strange appears, telling them that their target is causing trouble on Raan. They zeta-beam there, where in the ensuing fight Stewart slays the Shadow Thief. The Guardians of Oa are less than pleased that one of their officers used their power for revenge, and Stewart is stripped of his ring and place amongst the Corps (on top of that, the Guardians decide not to let Earthlings be Lanterns for a while). After burying Vixen in Africa, a local holy man blesses Shayera and Stewart's relationship, and this eventually leads a bouncing baby bird boy.]] And then there's the other official BetaCouple pairs of ComicBook/{{Huntress}}[=/=]ComicBook/TheQuestion, ComicBook/GreenArrow[=/=]ComicBook/BlackCanary, and ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}/[[spoiler: Brainiac 5]].
* In ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond'', it has the new Batman, Terry [=McGinnis=], and his mostly-steady girlfriend Dana Tan. [[spoiler:The JLU episode "[[FullyAbsorbedFinale Epilogue]]" confirms their official couple status by strongly implying that Terry was about to propose to Dana.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/SuperRobotMonkeyTeamHyperForceGo'':
** Chiro and Jinmay were pretty well set-up from Jinmay's introduction, which is amazing for something ToonDisney used to run.
** Nova and SPRX-77 as well; and ''they'' had a SlapSlapKiss vibe through the show's entire run, which makes it even more astonishing it ended up on ToonDisney.
* Ed and Deetz from ''WesternAnimation/GetEd'' are confirmed through episodes as liking each other that way (with on screen kisses, shock).
* ''WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor'': Numbuh 3 and Numbuh 4, and, as confirmed in the finale, [[spoiler: Numbuh 2 and Numbuh 5]]. Numbuh 1 and Lizzie were an Official Couple for six seasons but broke up shortly before the series finale ([[spoiler:and it's never told if Numbuh 1 found someone else]]).
* Goliath and Elisa in ''WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}}'', from the third episode of the series. Acknowledged between themselves in the Second SeasonFinale.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Histeria}}'': Miss Information and Mr. Smartypants, in a show of OppositesAttract. Also, Pepper Mills and Toast.
* ''WesternAnimation/TeamoSupremo'': Crandall and Brenda, as [[WordOfGod confirmed by Phil Walsh]] in an interview. (Unfortunately, the show itself did not get to actually reveal it.)
* ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures'': Buster and Babs Bunny ([[LampshadeHanging no relation]]), with Elmyra and Montana Max, as well as Plucky Duck and Shirley [=McLoon=] as the {{Beta Couple}}s.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheRaccoons'': Cedric Sneer and Sophia Tutu.
* ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'': Blackarachnia and Silverbolt; carried over into Beast Machines, where Blackarachnia redeems a brainwashed Silverbolt via ThePowerOfLove. What made this very poetic was the fact that Silverbolt, in the preceding series ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'', had been TheAce and Blackarachnia had been the DarkActionGirl (and Silverbolt had been the one to convert her to the good side), so Blackarachnia being the one to redeem Silverbolt after he had originally redeemed her in ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'' was a nice way to bring things full circle.
* ''WesternAnimation/BeastMachines'': Rattrap and Botanica.
* In the [[LastMinuteHookup final episode]], Willy, the male lead of ''WesternAnimation/MyDadTheRockStar'', and his female friend Alyssa start dating.
* ''WesternAnimation/AnAmericanTail'': Tony Toponi and Bridget (heck, the second film cameo'd them as a married couple with a child). At least until [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse she mysteriously vanishes]] for the DirectToVideo sequels.
* ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfTheGalaxyRangers'': It's [[HappilyMarried Zach/Eliza]], Shane/Niko, and Doc/Maya. This fandom is '''highly''' unusual as it won't cross those lines for the main four. The only time it might is in flashbacks, or "missing scenes" for a couple episodes.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutron'', Jimmy and Cindy. Sheen and Libby fill the BetaCouple slot.
* Gwen and Kevin in ''WesternAnimation/Ben10AlienForce.'' Ben and Julie were aiming at this until their breakup in ''Omniverse'' and in the end, it's [[spoiler:Ben and Kai]].
* Henry and June form ''WesternAnimation/KaBlam'' start out being friends, but with June having a crush on Henry (and usually shows this by [[LoveHurts being a total brat towards him]]). The so-called "series finale" ended with her kissing him, and in season four (at least until after [[ShipTease "A Nut in Every Bite!"]]), the duo have stopped fighting and became closer than ever before (cue "awwwwww"s).
* Cuddles and Giggles in ''WebAnimation/HappyTreeFriends''. An odd example, as she has been shown flirting with (or even ''dating'') other characters even after the couple was established. Then again, this is Happy Tree Friends, where characters frequently die horribly only to be fine in the next episode...
* On ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'', Candace and [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan Jeremy]] get together in "Summer Belongs to You". WordOfGod has also more-or-less confirmed that [[TheChick Isabella]]/[[ObliviousToLove Phineas]] and [[PrecociousCrush Ferb]]/[[MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter Vanessa]] will happen, though they also like to [[ShipTease tease other ships]] at times. Those two couples do in fact end up becoming official in "Act Your Age".
* The main official couple of ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' is of course HappilyMarried Homer and Marge.
* HappilyMarried Hank and Peggy in ''WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill''.
* Fry and Leela in ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}''. Amy and Kif end up as the BetaCouple. Played with in some episodes, when their relationship wasn't defined, [[MindScrew yet was official nonetheless]]- the fact that they have feelings for each other was always evident, and they even went out on dates. In an episode where they break up, even Fry was surprised that they were dating.
* [[LazyBum Beezy]] and [[CloudCuckoolander Saffi]] on ''WesternAnimation/JimmyTwoShoes''... [[spoiler: at least until Beezy broke up with her so he could pursue a GirlOfTheWeek, who turned out to be a MonsterOfTheWeek. Supposedly PlayedForLaughs, so it could be just temporary.]]
* Evangelyne and Sadlygrove of ''WesternAnimation/{{Wakfu}}''. [[spoiler:Sadlygrove has even [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar "seen Evangelyne naked"]], with all that that implies.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/MoralOrel'' has the titular character [[DistaffCounterpart and Christina]].
* Helga and Arnold in ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold''.
* ComicBook/TheMightyThor and Jane Foster in ''WesternAnimation/TheAvengersEarthsMightiestHeroes''. ComicBook/AntMan and TheWasp might also count, but Ant-Man doesn't explicitly admit that he loves TheWasp until [[spoiler: episode 25]].
* ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice'':
** ComicBook/{{Superboy}} and M'gann, as of episode 11. [[spoiler: Though they've broken up during the five year time-skip and now M'gann and La'gaan are a couple.]] Also Wally and Artemis, as of episode 26. [[spoiler: And played straight, they have been together for five years during the time-skip.]]
** Mal Duncan and Karen Beecher, who have been together even longer than Conner and M'gann.
** [[spoiler: Eventually in episode 44, M'gann breaks up with La'gann and reconciles with Conner in the series finale.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'':
** Stan Marsh and Wendy Testaburger.
** Craig Tucker and Tweek Tweak as of the episode "Tweek x Craig". They are dating and they do care quite a lot about each other (to the point where some notes for ''VideoGame/SouthParkTheFracturedButWhole'' state that Tweek is one of the ''only'' two things Craig cares about). WordOfGod further [[http://southparkdigital.tumblr.com/post/132256050532/machinyan-but-the-point-is-theres-nothing confirms]] [[http://southparkdigital.tumblr.com/post/137031056202/im-your-tweek-and-youre-my-craig this]].
** Heidi Turner and Eric Cartman as of Season 20.
* Despite being NoHuggingNoKissing for the most part, ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' does manage to include the wedding of Shining Armor and Princess Cadance. Other official couples include Mr. and Mrs. Cake (They've even had kids) and Twilight's parents, Night Light and Twilight Velvet.
* Dutch and Tennie in ''{{WesternAnimation/Motorcity}}''. One of the staff unofficially declared [[RoboShip Cyborg Dan and R.O.T.H.]] to be this.
* Ned and Linda in ''WesternAnimation/NedsNewt''.
* Jake and Lady Rainicorn are this in ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime''. Finn and Flame Princess were aiming at this until their breakup in "Frost and Fire".
* ''WesternAnimation/JonnyQuest'': The 80's animated series had two tv movies (Jonny's Golden Quest and Jonny Quest vs. The Cyber Insects) both of which featured Race's daughter Jessie. She and Jonny appear to be about 10 to 12 years old. She kisses him in both movies. Also, Race Bannon and Jezebel Jade.
* ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'':
** Mordecai and Margaret until "Steak Me Amadeus", because [[spoiler:Margaret has been accepted into her dream college and has to turn down a possible relationship with Mordecai despite her feelings for him]]. Since "Real Date", it's [[spoiler:Mordecai and [[ReplacementLoveInterest C.J.]]]] There is also Muscle Man and Starla, and Hi-Five Ghost and Celia. As of "Dumped at the Altar", there is [[spoiler:Rigby and Eileen]] as well.
** Now that the grand finale has aired and given the audience a look into the future, there is also [[spoiler:Benson and Pam, and Mordecai and a previously-unseen bat woman.]]
* Jackie Khones and Fluffer Nutter in ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'', although it's not that noticeable.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball'': Gumball and Penny as of "The Shell".
** As of "The Matchmaker", it is Darwin and Carrie.
* ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'' has [[spoiler:Ruby and Sapphire, the two Gems that make up Garnet, as confirmed by one of the [[http://joethejohnston.tumblr.com/post/113498250748/are-you-allowed-to-tell-us-if-sapphire-and-rubys storyboard artists]].]]
* Fred and Daphne in the various incarnations of ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDoo''. A favorite fan theory/joke among older audiences is that the reason Fred was always suggesting that he and Daphne pair off when the gang split up for investigations was so that the two of them could sneak off to make out.
* Egon and Janine in ''WesternAnimation/TheRealGhostbusters''. Janine acted more like a case of HopelessSuitor towards Egon, yet Egon does shows jealously over Janine's suitors in some episodes and mutual attraction (albeit very restrained in the case of Egon). They became official couple up until the sixth season. In the SequelSeries ''WesternAnimation/ExtremeGhostbusters'' they are presented as a mature couple living together.
* In ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'' after "Bon Bon The Birthday Clown", [[spoiler:Marco and Jackie.]]
* Quack Quack and Eugly from ''WesternAnimation/{{Kaeloo}}'', from Episode 54 onwards.
