* Achilles from the [[EndersGame Ender's Shadow]] series is decidedly a CompleteMonster who kills out of the most psychopathic need to prove his own superiority to his victims. He enters the Moral Event Horizon as soon as he kills Poke. But before he kills Poke, and to any character who doesn't know about his killings, he seems normal enough that the people worried about him killing someone appear to be the paranoid ones.

* [[{{Persona 3}} Strega]] does this throughout the game. Chidori is the only one who manages to pull a HeelFaceTurn [[spoiler:(and even she [[RedemptionEqualsDeath dies as a result]])]]. Takaya is the worst of the three [[spoiler:killing one of the most [[EnsembleDarkhorse beloved]] characters in the game. Oh, and did I mention that said beloved character is also a major StoicWoobie?]]]].

** Someone obviously missed the plot-point where it is revealed that Sephiroth has been encased in Mako the entire game since he was thrown in by Cloud. All the events including the Murders at the Shinra Building, Aeris' Death and Reunion have been Jenova in disguise for the purpose of keeping people away as she traveled. Sephiroth may have been a little loopy, but Jenova is the true monster in this story.

** [[DealWithTheDevil FAMI]][[DrunkWithPower LIC]][[DisproportionateRetribution IDE!]]

* Vamdemon/Myostismon was the ''{{Digimon}}'' series's first ''[[BigBad Really]]'' BigBad. If his string of KickTheDog moments - he tortures and kills his {{Mooks}}, he captured Tailmon/Gatomon when she set out looking for her partner on her own and literally whipped her into a ChildSoldier, he has his followers invade the entire city of Tokyo and kidnap its children to weed out the eighth ChosenOne, and that's for starters - don't gradually nudge him over the MoralEventHorizon, then Wizarmon's [[TearJerker child-scarring]] death - [[HeroicSacrifice taking an attack]] meant to kill Tailmon and [[TheCutie Hikari]], by the way - ''certainly'' does. It makes it downright beautiful when the fact that Vamdemon just made it [[ItsPersonal extra personal]] to Tailmon and, by extension, Hikari triggers Tailmon's going OneWingedAngel for the first time on his ass. Even that doesn't stop him, however, and he gets ''[[ItGotWorse even worse]]''.

** In ''FreshPrettyCure'', Cline [[spoiler:kills Setsuna just because she ultimately saw Love as a true friend]], and Northa tries brainwashing Setsuna back into Labyrinth, making herself the only female PrettyCure villain to "park in the red zone" and pressing Love's BerserkButton in the process.

* In ''ToyStory 3'' [[spoiler: Lotso tortures, [[MindRape Mind Rapes]], and tries to kill the toys during the movie, but irrevocably crosses the horizon when pretends to try to turn off the ConveyorBeltOfDoom leading to the incinerator, then leaves the other toys to their deaths with the remark "Where's your kid now?", complete with a mocking salute. This after he had pretended to be redeemed and after Woody and Buzz had just ''risked their lives to save him.'' Massive aversion of Pixar's RousseauWasRight philosophy.]]

*** In the current series, Fate of the Jedi, Daala initially seems fairly reasonable -wrong, but reasonable- about the Jedi and their role in the Galactic Alliance, epecially considering the actions of Jacen Solo. She even shuts down her "Jedi Court" when the parents of one of the Jedi that went bezerk revealed that it's head judge was using the imprisoned jedi as wall art. Then, in Allies, she attempts to force the Jedi to bend to her will and surrender all Jedi that have snapped (despite the Jedi Temple being far better equipped to hold a mad force user.) by laying siege to the Temple with a Mandalorian Battle Fleet, with orders to "do waht is necessary." The Jedi respond by sending out the Grand Master's personal assistant, a young apprentice (on the grounds that nobody could possibly miscontrue it as an attack, but she has the standing in the order to show good faith), wearing no armor, carrying no weapon, intending only to negotiate. The Madalorian Commander, after ascertaining that she is neither of the Jedi he was sent to "arrest", calmly informs her that "My orders make no provison for negotiation." and pulls out his sidearm and shoots her down without warning. He then proceeds to announce that if the mad Jedi are not turned over promptly, he will order his fleet to vaporize the entire temple, and that anyone who tries to leave will be slaughtered without warning. Daala's responce, on seeing the LIVE BROADCAST TO THE ENTIRE GALAXY, in which troops operating under her direct orders shot a teenaged girl dowmn in cold blood and then threatened to massacre thousands of people? "Good. Now they should take me seriously."
* In MichaelCrichton's newest novel ''Pirate Latitudes'', the Governor's new secretary, Robert Hacklett, [[spoiler:first takes over the island and throws Captain Hunter in prison after his return, but crosses the Horizon when he allows his wife to be raped, right in front of him.]] At least he gets his due when [[spoiler:said wife shoots him in the groin with a flintlock pistol.]]

** Interestingly, the episode "Tsst" suggests that Cartman ''could'' change if he was given proper parental discipline. By the end of that episode, he's actually turned into a good kid. Of course, this being [[{{CrapsackWorld}} South Park]], it doesn't last, mainly because Cartman's mother regresses to spoiling him.

* [[TheUmbridge Dolores Umbridge]] spent most of ''{{Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix}}'' finding new and more creative ways to KickTheDog (usually Harry), so it was well known before ''DeathlyHallows'' that she was a dog-kicking machine and a very nasty piece of work. And yet, the ease with which she took to the Death Eaters' new Ministry's policies, including presiding over trials for Muggle-borns accused of stealing magic and casually threatening one such wizard with the [[FateWorseThanDeath soul-destroying]] Dementor's Kiss, pushed her from "nasty piece of work" to "die, Umbridge, die."

* 'SouthPark' Cartman went over in the chili incident. The creators admitted that his entire personality changed with that episode, and even Stan and Kyle saw that they should never screw with Cartman ever again. Episode '201' actually makes it even worse in retrospect.
** His response to the revelation makes it much, much worse. He is seen crying not because he [[spoiler: killed his father]], but because he is [[spoiler: "half-ginger"]]. If you think about this, you realize that Cartman is not sad at all about [[spoiler: KILLING HIS OWN FATHER]]. Just... Wow.
** This may very well be the TropeCodifier, as Cartman went from being a naughty, immature, and somewhat idiotic 8-year old kid, to being a sadistic, [[CompleteMonster monstrous]], [[MagnificentBastard manipulative]] psychopath.

* In ''OnePiece'', the World Government re-enacts the Massacre of the Innocents. SoYeah.

** What really drags this past the horizon is that Nero destroys [[spoiler:Vulcan]] in response to something that technically ''hadn't happened yet'' -- he travels back in time in pursuit of Spock, whom they blame for the destruction of their planet because he wasn't fast enough to stop the supernova that consumed it. SoYeah.

'''No RealLife examples.'''

****Let's not forget when he [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge slaughtered]] an entire village of Sand People who [[DeadLittleSister killed his mother]], because, let's face it, [[WhatMeasureIsANonHuman What Measure Is A Non Human]]. And when he [[ThouShaltNotKill executed]] [[OffWithHisHead Count Dooku]] when he had already been [[KickThemWhileTheyAreDown defeated]].

* The two main tormentors of Seira in Japanese drama ShokojoSera, [[DeanBitterman Director]] Mimura Chieko and TheLibby Maria. Seeing how they are counterparts for Miss Minchin and Lavina in ALittlePrincess, it was no surprise. Having a huge inferior complex for Seira's deceased mother who she was classmates with, Mimura Chieko absolutely despises Seira for being [[LikeFatherLikeSon too much like her mother]] and often [[KickTheDog slaps her]] when Seira stands up to her when no one else does. She is brutally cold when telling Seira about her beloved father's death and does nothing to lessen the pain, letting Seira know right off the start that she could kick her out of the school (leaving the poor girl without any shelter or food) and does so.

*** Anakin viewed [[HeelRealization his own crossing the line]] when he defended Palpatine against Mace Windu, resulting in the Jedi Master's death.

* [[EvilSorcerer Lezard]] [[StalkerWithACrush Valeth]] of ''ValkyrieProfile'' is one nasty piece of work and crosses the line many times (especially in the [[TimeTravel sequel/prequel]]), but very early on he crosses the MoralEventHorizon when he orchestrates the deaths of his former teacher, Lorenta, and her husband by giving the latter a potion that turns the drinker into a monster. Lorenta's husband begs her to kill him before he succumbs to its effect, but Lorenta can't bring herself to do it. He then turns into a monster and kills her. All of this was to draw the attention of the protagonist, Lenneth Valkyrie. Lezard claims he needed a sacrifice of lovers to lure the goddess to him and chose his former teacher because she and her husband had a [[PowerOfLove "lifetime of love."]] I'd like to add that Lorenta and (presumably) her husband [[YouFailLogicForever were in their thirties at the time of their murder.]]

* In ''{{Starcraft}}'', there are a few [[spoiler: Arcturus Mengsk puts a psi-emitter on Tarsonis, having the entire planet killed by the Zerg, then[[SenselessSacrifice leaves Sara Kerrigan to die by the hands of the Zerg after she held off the Protoss]].
** It's hard to say if Kerrigan corssed it [[spoiler: due to the fact that it's unknown how much control she has after being turned into a Zerg, but Infested Kerrigan is when she betrays her allies and kills Fenix, just so she doesn't have to deal with him in the future (she also killes Duke, but he was an asshole.)]]

** Let's not forget that Nakago is STILL at least partially to blame for that one: [[spoiler: while Suboshi was the one who killed these people, ''he'' was the one who coldly suggested such actions as a "valid" revenge, knowing that Suboshi was in the verge of the DespairEventHorizon after losing the brother he adored and idolized.]]

* In ''{{Naruto}}'', Sasuke Uchiha has arguably crossed the event horizon, but being one of the primary protagonists makes it far less likely to stick. He's done plenty of morally questionable things down the line, slowly getting worse as time passes (with the occasional but short-lived relapse into good), but finally cemented it when [[spoiler:he stabbed his very quirky but otherwise genuinely loyal teammate Karin when Danzo took her hostage, just because the fact that she ''could'' be taken hostage made her a burden to him. Even though she survives the attack, Sasuke is all too willing to finish her off. Then he's willing to stab his former friwnd Sakura in the back when she shows up in the nick of time, completely unprovoked. Plus there's the whole "wipe out all of Konoha" thing, just because he thinks, because according to [[BigBad Madara]], the village elders secretly ordered his clan exterminated to stop them from [[MoralMyopia performing a coup d'etat]].]]
** And speaking of Madara let's not forget his most despicable act which seems to be his actions in the Uchiha Clan Massacre, where there was a very good chance that he was using its then-leader Fugaku and starting the Coup all in an attempt to get his former Clan killed off-and it works, since Konoha's elders were forced to kill them off using Itachi Uchiha against them. All so he could get a severely fucked up Uchiha Sasuke after his final battle with Itachi to join him. His ultimate plan is basically Instrumentality, and he doesn't care about free will and just wants to become a god.
*** [[spoiler: As of chapter 500, he topped himself. He killed the ANBU guards protecting the place where Kushina was giving birth, then killed Hiruzen's (The Third's) wife, Taji the ANBU leader, and took Naruto, who was a BABY at the time hostage, threatening to kill Naruto unless Minato handed over the Kyuubi so he could attack the Hidden Leaf village.]]

*** Beliewve it or not, ''some fangirls still loved him after thay''.

* Despite only being in the series for the last few minutes of it, [[spoiler: Eddy's brother]] crossed this when he began to mercilessly beat the shit out of [[spoiler: Eddy]], and freely admit he's [[DomesticAbuse always done this to him.]] [[EvenEvilHasStandards Even bullies like Kevin and the Kankers were appalled.]]

*** [[spoiler:Capturing Arakune and giving a big ultimatum to one of the only genuinely good characters in the setting, Litchi, that if she doesn't want to see Arakune (her lover) dead, she has to join NOL. She had no choice but to oblige, pulling a FaceHeelTurn.]]
**** [[spoiler:Though that one is overruled. Relius only did the capture of Arakune; while the one who finally gave the push for Litchi to join the dark side was... Terumi, by telling her that they have the cure. And knowing [[{{Troll}} what kind of person he is]], you know how this is going to turn out.]]
*** [[spoiler: Tries to kill his own son Carl in the latter's story mode in CS, trying to destroy any possible views that adults can be good, slowly and surely...]]
**** [[spoiler: Remember that Relius tried to kill Litchi as well, who is like an older sister figure to Carl at this point, right in front of the Carl's face. This plan of his is probably going to backfire in the next game.]]

* In TengenToppaGurrenLagann's second [[TheMovie movie]], Lagann-Hen, the [[spoiler:Anti-Spiral]] analyzes and dissolves Nia... By [[RapeAsDrama mounting her]] and grasping her with [[NaughtyTentacles tentacles]]. At that point, he stopped being a WellIntentionedExtremist and started looking like a reject from LegendOfTheOverfiend.

** The third one was seen riding a man and kicking him the head for not going fast enough. When a doctor and a nurse were trying to get to the hospital to bring in an injured man when they should be bowing to him, the World Noble simply [[KickTheDog kicked the injured man]] to the ground. And when he saw that the nurse was quite pretty, he promptly named her his newest wife and when her fiancee stood up to him, he shot him and dragged the crying nurse away.

*** Later on, he [[spoiler:[[HannibalLecture mocks Whitebeard in front of Ace in order to stall him]], and tries to gore a seriously fatigued Luffy. Ace winds up TakingTheBullet.]] A few chapters later, [[spoiler:he tries to kill Coby for delaying him with a WhatTheHellHero speech]]

** For some, he irreparably crossed the line when he [[spoiler:killed Hughes]], after turning into the man's wife to keep him from striking back, and triggering one of the series's biggest set of {{Tear Jerker}}s.

** Don't forget [[CompleteMonster Shou Tucker]]. He is so cruel, vicious, and twisted, he even turned his own four-year-old daughter into a Chimera by fusing her with his dog, creating a horrible abomination whose entire life consisted of pain that would later have to be mercy-killed by Scar. While the main reason he did this is because he was being pressured that without "interesting" results from his experiments, the government would kick him out, Tucker later admits that he "didn't have a reason", and eventually would have gotten around to doing it just to prove he could. Apparently, this isn't the first time Tucker did that either; he also transformed his wife into a Chimera.
** "Doctor Goldtooth" spends most of his screentime crossing the MoralEventHorizon. He's responsible for experimenting on people to make human-based homunculi; except for the one who became Wrath/King Bradley, all of the subjects died or were rendered mindless and used as Elite Mooks, and he later slits poor Riza's throat in an attempt to force Roy Mustang to open the gate. He does so without any remorse or regard for human life, and it's thus very satisfying to see him being impaled from behind by Pride while he boasts about Wrath's skill as one of his creations.

*** Interestingly, in the manga and Brotherhood [[spoiler: Bradley (Wrath/the First anime Pride)]] avoids doing this and remains an incredibley cool antagonist. The same cannot be said for [[spoiler: Selim, his adopted son and the Manga's Pride]]. From his first appearance Pride's a creepy little bastard, who already has no redeeming qualities (he's neither sympathetic, nor humerous, nor BadAss). And then he polevaults across the MoralEventHorizon, via his cannibalisation of [[spoiler: Gluttony, a big goof]] who was one of the most sympathetic antagonists. That little ''prick''.

*** Nnoitra does this when he hints he intends to rape Orihime (he stuck his fingers deep in her mouth for crying out loud), his hatred towards Nel which led him to collaborate with Szayel so he could take away her powers because he was jealous of her for being stronger than him and then he kicks her out of Hueco Mundo. Not to mention when he forces Orihime to watch as he has his subordinate Tesla beat Ichigo to death. Thanks to a BigDamnHeroes moment by Kenpachi, however, Ichigo is safe and Orihime heals him.

* [[YourMileageMayVary Depending on your perspective,]] Light Yagami of DeathNote has his at varying points in the story, his first coming very early in the story when he kills Lind L. Tailor. They just get more and more extreme until [[spoiler:after [[{{Yandere}} Kiyomi Takada]], his former girlfriend and now follower, kills Mello. She calls him from Mello's truck, naked, crying and terrified. He coldly tells her to continue writing as many names as she can, and hangs up. Then, as the task force is driving to find her, Light writes on the piece in his watch that the poor girl dies ''by burning to death'', so that all the evidence is destroyed.]] If Light still had fans by that point, they were gone after that.

**In the LiveActionAdaptation, Light crosses this either [[spoiler: in the first movie, when he wrote his girlfriend's name in the Death Note, or in the second one, where he wrote his ''father's'' name. Even Misa thought he went too far on the latter one.]]

** Also, he raped Aoshika (a teacher who ends up falling in love with Inugami) while recording it so that Inugami can see, practically talking to the camera (and, therefore, to Inugami) through the entire thing in the hopes that Inugami (who left due to Haguro's actions) will come back to him.

* Katsuragi of ''SakuraGari'' is pretty fond of doing this. Not only is he a disgusting pedophile, he drugs, rapes and tortures Masataka (this includes whipping him and sticking a household object up his anus right after raping him) and holds his hand in boiling hot tea because of his jealousy over Masataka being the one Souma loves, when he loves Souma to an insane degree himself and he beats his wife. Oh, and when he was younger he also persuaded Souma (who was angry with his mother) into wanting to kill his mother, then when Souma couldn't go through with it he took Souma's hand (that held a knife) and forcibly made him cut his mother's wrists effectively killing her, while she was naked and passed out in the bathtub. And he also involved himself with Souma when he was still a child as well. When Souma confronts Katsuragi on his rape and torture of Masataka, Katsuragi denies the accusation and tries to seduce Souma. He acts uninterested and mentions Masataka's name, so Katsuragi actually grabs Souma by the throat and tries to strangle him.
