death note wasn\'t a mind screw, so this doesn\'t apply

* Some of the confusing points in ''DeathNote'' are addressed in the extra volume 13, "How to Read" (a reference to Ryuk's GratuitousEnglish instructions). Among other things, this book provides WordOfGod on whether the girl on the last page was Misa ([[spoiler:nope]]) and what L's real name was ([[spoiler:it was L, but with a last name behind, L Lawliet.]]). Which is sort of a MindScrew on its own.

***** Well, the Red Cross Book used to be the closest we had to a Manual for Eva and that eventually became outdated with the passage of time. It also had some plotline inconsistencies with the story itself. To be honest, the Classified Information is probably in the same boat and I do not consider it completely reliable for the mere fact that I somehow doubt Anno actually cares and is liable to make another "explanation" whenever he feels he needs some more funds.

*** Even more than the Reports, KingdomHearts: BirthBySleep is a massive MindScrewdriver, filling most of the holes left by its predecessors.
**** {{Your Milage May Vary}} on how well (or intelligently) Birth By Sleep does this.
**** Heck, most of the games since KingdomHearts2 have been geared towards explaining questions (and raising more to compensate): 358/2 Days went into Roxas and the Organisation. Birth by Sleep cleared up most of the lingering plot holes about the series' past. Coded explained why Jimminy's Journal was missing the entries from Chain of Memories and what was in Mickey's letter. It does (finally) seem to be moving away from this though.

* The "True Ending" of ''{{Ever17}}'' clears up just about every mystery in the game. And some things that weren't, but were probably misinterpreted. Well, apart from the kick the can games, anyway.
** Nope, that's explained too, if indirectly, by the presence of [[spoiler:Blick Winkel.]]

**** Or you can make it a Mindscrew again, when you realize the Sufficiently Advanced Alien was never described so you could make a case that it's [[spoiler:actually Shinji Ikari fused with Lilith in the future/alternate original dimension that then created duplicate Solar System's with Earths and sent Adams and Liliths to these "fresh" Earth's to make more Evangelion AU's. Considering everything, this makes perfect sense. Really. It Does. Oh, and the Dead Sea Scrolls was written by Kaworu in the Future who sent himself into the past to make a stable time loop and manipulate SEELE so they can manipulate him in the future.]]

*** It's also a gigantic out of character moment for Hideaki Anno to finally given in and divulge all the Series secrets. Especially to a third-party video game company, when the man himself is notorious for giving the Shrug of God and his personally philosophy is to just let the fans make sense out of this insane nonsense he had made. Curiously, we have NEVER seen the actual interviews themselves, and Gainax themselves seems ambivalent to it. That's rather odd...

** On the other hand, the [[NoExportForYou unreleased-in-America]] spinoff game ''Neon Genesis Evangelion 2'' for PS2 and PSP contains a "Classified Information" feature that actually provides concrete answers to many details of Eva's plot; the canonicity of the game, however, is [[BrokenBase debated]]. ** Speaking of [=MGS2=], the game was going to contain a Mind Screwdriver of its own in the form of Psycho Mantis' mask as an unlockable. It was going to let you hear the thoughts of other characters during cutscenes/codec calls, and those thoughts were supposedly going to give you a major clue to what was really going on in the game's plot. But alas, [[ExecutiveMeddling the game was rushed for the holidays]], so it didn't get implemented.
