The main thing you will always see with this trope is that it is practically married to BottomlessBladder. It won't matter how long a character is left BoundAndGagged, because things we in RealLife require like food, water, expulsion of waist, sleeping and the like does not matter in fiction. Even if this is lampshaded by the villain trying to kill a hero with hunger or thirst and leaves them bound for several hours or even days, to build suspense of course, even then, the hero will somehow will be strong enough to go stop the villain.
