* ''Franchise/MortalKombat'': The character of Blaze is a fire elemental who first appeared as TheCameo in ''VideoGame/MortalKombatII'' as a "Liu Kang on fire" at ''The Pit II'' stage, later developed in 3D games as a humanoid made of lava. First in ''[[VideoGame/MortalKombatDeadlyAlliance Deadly Alliance]]'' as a SecretCharacter and in ''[[VideoGame/MortalKombatArmageddon Armageddon]]'' as the HulkingOut FinalBoss and one of the most powerful characters of the franchise.

* ''Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon'':
** ''WesternAnimation/Fantasia2000'': The final segment, based on Music/IgorStravinsky's Firebird Suite, depicts the titular Firebird first a giant bird and then a landscape-consuming BlobMonster made of lava. This sets it up as the destructive opposite to the nature spirit's powers of life and creation.
** ''WesternAnimation/{{Hercules}}'': Hades ends up releasing the Titans, elemental beings of mass destruction. One of them, Pyros, is a hulking mass of lava and magma that smothers his victims with his molten body.
** ''WesternAnimation/{{Moana}}'': Te Ka is a massive demon made out of fire and lava who would stop the heroes from returning the stolen heart of the goddess Te Fiti. * ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIV'': The monsters in [[LethalLavaLand the first half]] of Hells' Lid are a mix of animals and ((Youkai}} made of partly-solidified lava.

* ''WesternAnimation/MightyMax'' had a race of these living underground. The Skullmaster imprisoned their king and took over upon arriving, but he breaks out during the series.

A creature made of lava, it has the strength of rock while being amorphous due to its molten state. More importantly, [[CaptainObvious as lava is incredibly hot]], damaging anyone who'd dare try to hide it. Or even get close to its molten body, [[ConvectionSchmonvection assuming convection is in play]]. The Living Lava tends to dwell in the LethalLavaLand and is vulnerable to rapid cooling. Sometimes they'll have more solid and hard body parts to better interact with the rest of the world.

** Magmen (or magmins in later editions) are small humanoid creatures made of lava that occasionally leave their volcanic homes to play, including trying to set other living creatures on fire. The series also has Magma [[{{Golem}} Golems]].
** From the ''Epic Level Handbook'', we have Phaethons, {{Eldritch Abomination}}s born of fire gods and/or fire monsters. They are described as malevolent, gigantic blobs of sentient magma. They make good use of their blob-like forms to smother and burn everything they can flow over, and their forms can easily absorb other living creatures into their bodies to be easily crushed and incinerated.
* ''{{TabletopGame/Heroscape}}'': The Obsidian Guards are humanoid lava creatures, and their special abilities all give them bonuses from being on lava or magma tiles. They also suffer a penalty if standing on water.

** The series has magma elementals, which are basically hybrids of fire and earth elementals with both their powers. They tend to take the shape of large, powerful animals such as apes or ungulates, unlike the more slender and serpentine fire elementals.

** Blargg, recurring enemies first seen in ''VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld'', are red-orange dinosaur-like creatures living inside lava.
** Magmaarghs, debuting in ''VideoGame/SuperMarioGalaxy2'', are related creatures literally made out of molten lava, allowing them to pass directly through and around solid obstacles. They've since appeared in other games, always in the same role. They hide inside lava pools and surge out when the player passes by, attempting to devour them when they pass too close. Other varieties include the Magmaws, smaller and with more simplistic facial features they're essentially plumes of lava with gaping mouths and dot eyes, and the fishlike Charvaarghs, which breach out of lava like jumping dolphins to try and eat Mario.

While the MagmaMan is about controlling lava, Living Lava is about beings ''made'' out of the stuff. A sub-trope of LavaAddsAwesome and ElementalEmbodiment. Also a sub-trope of SiliconBasedLife, which usually deals with silicates in a solid state. For other living masses of inorganic matter, see MuckMonster, RockMonster and SentientSands.

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Ewoks}}'': Near the end of the episode "Sunstar vs Shadowstone", recurring villain [[EvilSorcerer Morag]] triggers a volcano after fusing the two titular [[PowerCrystal Power Crystals]] together, then sinks into the lava. The Ewoks initially assume she's dead, but thanks to the power of the Sunstar-Shadowstone she emerges as a huge lava monster. [[spoiler:Unfortunately for Morag, her new form comes with a WeaksauceWeakness as Master Logray magically creates a geyser which sprays her with water, causing her to harden and shatter.]]

** Warcraft III: The Firelord neutral hero can summon Lava Spawns, spiky red minions made of lava that shoot fire at people. While every spawn has a timed life, it replicates itself after attacking a number of times into an identical Lava Spawn.

* ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'': Igneo Taluses are giant {{Cephalothorax}}es made up of glowing, semi-molten rock that live near the lava lakes around the Death Mountain.

* Myth/PacificMythology: Pele, a volcanic goddess who embodies the main volcano, who knows when incautious visitors have taken away rocks from her sacred place and left the island with them. There are stories of the volcano goddess's vengeance manifesting in bad luck and ill-fortune to such people - until the stolen rocks are returned. The relevant authority in Hawaii testifies that it regularly receives parcels of volcanic rock, anonymously, to be returned to the volcano goddess with apologies.
* The Cherufe of Mapuche Mythology is a mythical being that is depicted as a monstrous man eating being made entirely of rock and lava. The one way to stop this is to sacrifice a human into the volcano where the Cherufe comes from. It's also widely believed to caused volcano eruptions and earthquakes.

* ''VideoGame/DwarfFortress'': Magma men are elemental creatures native to the lava ocean at the bottom of each game world. They're composed of a core of liquid basalt coated in a humanoid obsidian shell and are much more dangerous than their neighboring fire men and fire imps. The latter two, being made of fire and nothing else, are extremely fragile and easily beaten to death; magma men, being made of hard rock, are much more durable and much stronger. And since the game takes temperature into account and they can still shoot fireballs, they have the dangerous tendency to set everything around them on fire if it can burn in the first place.
* Igneo Talus from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaBreathOfTheWild'' are giant [[{{Cephalothorax}} Cephalothoraxes]] consisting of molten rock that live near the lava lakes around the Death Mountain.
* The fourth planet Neo Star's boss Magman from ''VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards'' is a large BlobMonster made of magma who faces Kirby. He starts out as a BackgroundBoss but once he TurnsRed starts going into the foreground and attacks Kirby with his [[BreathWeapon fire breath,]] summons Burnis' or causes rocks to fall.

** ''VideoGame/SonicRivals'': "Sonic Rivals 2" has the Ifrit, who's similar to Iblis in being a monster made out of lava that threatens to cause a BadFuture for Silver. Eggman Nega wants to release it onto the world from its own dimension.
* Several of these appear in video games from the ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' franchise, on LethalLavaLand type levels.
