Natter. Also the author clearly intentionally inverted the original moral of the story

* ''Fanfic/HarryPotterAndTheMethodsOfRationality'' have Harry himself take this stance (and give a long list of the things he would do with his time to Dumbledore, in answer to his WhoWantsToLiveForever position), not only for himself, but for everybody on Earth. He even dreams of the very idea of death becoming nothing more than a grim story that future children aren't told until they're old enough to take it. This facet of the story has faced a fair amount of criticism, as Rowling herself once said the entire ''point'' of the original books was [[NotAfraidToDie being willing to accept mortality]].

* ''Manga/FrierenBeyondJourneysEnd'' : The opening theme, "YUUSHA" expresses the sentiment that, while immortality can make parting with loved ones painful, and the relentless passage of time can erase the traces of precious moments, it's not all bad. The immortal can ensure that the world doesn't forget the dearly departed or their legacy, carrying the memories in their heart, while going on to make new friends and go on new adventures. In the series itself, it would seem that long-lived races [[TimeDissonance don't feel the crush of time as heavily as others]]; Frieren makes plans for 50 years hence as easily as next week.

Their minds do not decline with age, so they do not ever forget important things or people, and they are accustomed enough to watching shorter lived beings pass away that it doesn't deter them from forming friendships with them. Instead the focus of the sadness is on how shorter lived races tend to forget important people and events within a few generations. Further, elves marry and reproduce so rarely that losing a spouse is rarely ever a issue (indeed it is implied the length of time it takes an elf to even fall in love precludes them from marrying short-lived races to begin with), and the main source of angst an elf may have over losing friends isn't how short their lives were but rather the risk the elf has of their different perspective on time causing them to not make the most of the time they do have with someone. Lastly, every elf is confident that, however long they may live, they will eventually die, so there is no angst over being an immortal in a world of mortals. In their view, they are as mortal as anyone else, just with a much long timespan before that mortality is realized.

* ''Fanfic/TheGreatAlicornHunt'' seems to be a backlash against all the ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' fics about [[WhoWantsToLiveForever the opposite trope]]. Yes, Princess Celestia and Luna are tired of outliving everypony else (besides each other), but everything else about immortality is great so they're trying to end mortality for everypony by helping them Ascend to Alicorndom.

* ''Anime/DanceInTheVampireBund'': These are a minority among vampires but they exist. Generally, speaking there are two varieties: hedonistic ones that enjoy the eternal youth and disease immunity, and more noble ones that devote themselves to a cause or a person. Veratos, Akira, and the maids (sans [[spoiler:Nanami]]) live for Mina, and Mina lives for Akira and her fangless.

* The main antagonist of ''Fanfic/ManehattansLoneGuardian'' has this mind-set. They've been jumping bodies since before Discord's reign ended, and they've grown to enjoy their increased lifespan. They state to their underlings on one occasion that ponies underestimate just how ''much'' there is to learn.

* Many (though not all) Transhumanists hold this opinion. With many arguments in favor of this tropes from them ranging from potential future knowledge and technology curbing boredom/ennui so that truly nothing interferes their immortal enjoyment, to the [[WeWillHaveEuthanasiaInTheFuture possibility of allowing oneself]] [[NothingLeftToDoButDie to end your own existence]] if boredom actually does set in. Some have hypothized have been made about how we could possibly escape the heat-death of the universe, although how well those would work in practice is anybody's guess.

* ''VideoGame/RadiataStories'': When Parsec the Fire Dragon asks Aphelion the Silver Dragon why he defends the humans, his reply is, in a nutshell, 'it's not fair that dragons and elves get to live forever when humans don't.' His ultimate goal involves extending his own immortal life.
