* TheLegendOfZelda series is probably the UrExample of this trope, so much as to hang a lampshade on it in A Link to the Past and earn a ShoutOut in the HomestarRunner game Thy Dungeonman: every time Link obtains a new weapon or item, he holds it over his head as a brief fanfare plays. Plot-relevant items get a more dramatic fanfare (and typically restore Link to full HP; hoisting divine relics can probably do that to a person).

* Link's stock Item Get pose was actually parodied, multiple times, in TheLegendOfZelda: Phantom Hourglass. At one point, Link opens a treasure chest and instantly strikes the pose, only to discover that he's triumphantly grabbed ... nothing at all. Several minutes later, Link finds the aforementioned missing item after being shaken around to the point of dizzyness. When he held up the item, it teetered all over the place, and the fanfare was off-key. And then again when Link opens a Rupoor chest, resulting in a minor key fanfare and a look of dread on Link's face, as Rupoors are bad. And when he presents an item he's carrying to an NPC, he does his dramatic pose, complete with fanfare, to show it off - but the fanfare is cut off as the NPC snatches it away quickly.

** At one point in Wind Waker, you can buy a Treasure Chart in an auction at Windfall Island for an average of 250 rupees. Said map leads you all the way across the Great Sea, where you find another Treasure Chart. This one leads you back to Windfall Island. You dredge up the box, and the item fanfare starts up as Link opens it...revealing a single rupee. Link looks profoundly disappointed.

** In Link's Awakening, there is one point where you get Marin to briefly join you. This does usually come with fanfare in RPGs, but it's usually only accompanied by a brief message saying "[name] joined your party." But no, this is a Zelda game. Link does the usual Item Get pose, complete with fanfare, as he holds Marin over his head. A pity the gameboy graphics were too primitive to show Marin's reaction to being treated like this...

* From the beginning, the MegaMan series has rewarded the eponymous Blue Bomber with a new weapon for every boss defeated, but starting with the second game, you were actually told what weapon you'd just earned in a brief cutscene, complete with a little animation of Megaman turning the appropriate color. Later games also have Megaman demonstrate the weapon's use.

*In ShadowMan, most items that go into your inventory are located in a circular room on a pedestal. When you pick them up, the camera angle changes, a victory music plays (although this is hard to notice as it blends well with the game's normal music) and Shadow Man says "This should be useful". If the item has a special use (besides being a weapon or PlotCoupon), the item room also contains samples of the "target" that the item can be used on.

It's a nice Item Get sound.

* A First Person Shooter example would be in Marathon, every time you get a magazine of ammo or a new gun, you get a "Ding!" sound and your screen flashes green. In custom levels covered in ammo, it can be very hard to see anything but green on the screen, but at least the sound isn't annoying.
