*** Knowledge? UCSC used to do that as well, with detailed teacher evaluations in place of grades. Students trying to get into grad schools complained, so they eventually put in grades as well, but if you don't care about getting into grad school it's fine.
*** You don't go to college for knowledge, you go so you can get a certificate that allows you to get jobs that require said certificate. If you want knowledge read a book. It's cheaper.
*** Good lord. Do people seriously believe this? It's a sad day when an institute whose purpose is imparting and developing knowledge is scorned for presuming that it might concern itself with knowledge.

This troper is a Greener and would like to point out that that having written evaluations in the place of grades is now seen as one of Evergreen's selling points by many graduate schools, a fact reflected in the remarkably high percentage of graduates who go on to graduate school. The 'crazy-hippies' stereotype of Evergreen is remarkably widespread. I've met Australians who were familiar with the school's reputation.
