A possible variant is characters dressing in a literal Halloween-style costume (with design elements resembling pumpkins, bats etc).

Interestingly, sometimes events from the Halloween party strips (and from other holidays) would affect the main Bob and George continuity, and sometimes they didn't. There was also a RunningGag involving the Author, as he would dress up as a character nobody else would recognize (like Q or the Spectre).

* ''ExterminatusNow'' does this every Halloween, though they subverted it one year by having trick-or-treaters in various popculture costumes and the four main characters doing nothing special. Previous years have seen them do characters from ''Webcomic/EightBitTheater'' and various comic books.

** While the majority of shopkeepers didn't indulge in this trope for Halloween 2009, it ''did'' bring us Edmund as {{Batman}}. In the midst of the event, the [=Dernier* Cri=] crew returned with Brennivin as Andy Warhol, Kanoko as fellow RIG character Hatsya, and... Radio [[PiratesOfTheCaribbean Jack Sparrow]].
