Particularly eclectic examples include Music/{{Primus}}, Music/JanesAddiction, Music/FaithNoMore (and sorta-offshoot band Mr. Bungle), Music/LivingColour and Music/{{Fishbone}}, but even bands like Music/ThreeEleven and Music/RedHotChiliPeppers count, albeit to a lesser extent.

* PrettyFlyForAWhiteGuy: some bands have shades of this. Not anywhere near universal, though.

* UrExample: "Super Stupid" by Music/{{Funkadelic}} can be considered one of the earliest examples, as it took the hard rock styling of bands like Music/LedZepplin and infused their trademark {{Funk}} elements into it.

So, let's say you've got two genres that are great on their own, namely {{Funk}} and Music/HeavyMetal. What happens when you put them together? ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: Take FunkRock, replace the rock with Music/HeavyMetal, turn up the amps and rock out. Emerged in TheEighties and became really popular in TheNineties. Can frequently overlap with RapMetal, RapRock or AlternativeMetal.

* Ur Example: "Super Stupid" by Funkadelic can be considered one of the earliest examples, as it took the hard rock styling of bands like Led Zepplin and infused their trademark funk elements into it.
** "N.I.B." by Black Sabbath could also be considered an early example due to its heavy focus on a wah wah infused bassline.
