* ''Series/HowIMetYourMother'' has the DrivingQuestion of how Ted met the mother of his kids in a FramingDevice. The twelfth episode has a set-up of Ted almost going to a wedding with Robin but ends up going alone, then [[MeetCute locking eyes with Victoria]] as a SequelHook. The following episode outlines a fairy tale romance but they intended to not exchange contact information, the next day Ted has to find other ways to track her down and upon reuniting they have a BigDamnKiss. At the time Victoria was meant to be The Mother in case no further episodes were made, and it's easy to see how that conclusion could have ended the show. When they were renewed for more episodes ([[LongRunner and went another 8 seasons]]) Victoria was rewritten to be a RomanticFalseLead.

* ''Series/{{Chuck}}'': The show was renewed for a third season with an original order of 13 episodes only for the network to order another 6 episodes just after the crew had finished the intended "finale". The writers were forced to scramble and come up with a short arc to fill out the season. The network then proceeded to do the exact same thing with the fourth season, this time ordering a further ''eleven'' episodes.
