There are few things cooler than heroically jumping through a plume of fire. In acknowledgement of that, many many video game and platform settings put it upon themselves to create scenarios to make it happen. Flame Spewer Obstacle is when environmental hazards exist for the sole purpose of periodically erupting into flames. This generally takes the form of a timing puzzle, but the fire can also be proximity triggered, or it can be just a static obstacle that must be entirely avoided.
