* An ongoing theme in Series/ForeverKnight is coroner Natalie Lambert trying to find a cure for VampireDetective Nick Knight. As vampirism is symbolically compared to alcoholism, she often complains that Nick isn't putting in the effort that he should, despite his desire for redemption.

He invents a time machine and sends Freddy, Sir William, Enrico, and Caruso back to twelfth century Assyria, where his ancestor Cavaliere Goldoni was a crusader, to try to collect a DNA sample.

* One of the full-length Animation/TheLittleMole movies, the protagonist's friend the Mouse gets ill. Krtek asks the old Owl for adviceand is tolt to find a plant called Matricaria Chamomilla. Since the name's so grandiose-sounding, Krtek pretty much circles the entire world, asking virtually anyone who seems knowledgeable about whether a particular plant is his sought after "Chamomilla?" He is ultimately unsuccessful and returns home, disappointed and sobbing. The Old Owl realises what went wrong, comforts him, and points at a plain-looking flower on the meadow, translating its Latin name into Czech term. If you know Latin, you'll have already realised that Matricaria chamomilla is . Naturally, Krtek is overjoyed (if a bit embarassed) by this discovery, and goes to use the flower in brewing some tea for Mouse, who recovers.

The automaton targets have been modified to shoot poisoned bullets, and the victims die days afterwards so there's no link between the two (until our heroes investigate, of course).

* One episode of Series/Castle hit Castle with a poison that led to this, but justified: the villain didn't even know Castle existed, let alone that he'd been hit with the poison. The actual target of the poison was killed almost immediately by it, Castle just got a low dose of it accidentally (enough to kill him, just not as immediately) by being in the same car with the victim for a few minutes.

Once Link enters the cave and grabs the bottle, he can deliver it to the old woman, who in return lets Link enter her house so he can learn a new spell from a sorcerer.

* In VideoGame/BloodOmenLegacyOfKain, Kain's initial motive for going after the Circle of Nine is a cure for his vampirism... though he slowly begins to embrace it. [[spoiler:It turns out however there is no "cure" in the conventional sense. Unknown to Kain until the very end, he is in fact the new corrupted Guardian of Balance, born between the time of the previous Guardian Ariel's death and the Pillar's subsequent corruption, and so killing the other Pillars won't save Nosgoth as long as he's still alive. Ariel's spirit deliberately withheld this information in the hopes that Kain would ultimately willing choose to sacrifice himself in the end. As it turns out, he was rather miffed at this manipulation and it served as the final straw for him refusing to sacrifice himself and fully embracing his vampire state.]]
