* In ''Comicbook/{{Superman}}'' Vol 2 #146, ''King's Feud'' is established as a board game Clark and Lois both have fond memories of, featuring wheeled game pieces resembling knights in armor. The company is reinventing it as an UltraSuperDeathGoreFestChainsawer3000 called ''King's Blood Feud of Death''.

** ''Literature/{{Thud}}'' features a fictional board game[[note]]Well, to be pedantic, a game that had existed in the real world for about three years at that point.[[/note]] also called "Thud", which is similar to the ancient Norse games of Hnefatafl and Tablut, and in-universe is a board game representation of the "Battle of Koom Valley", a historical battle between trolls and dwarfs that is also at the centre of the novel's plot. The game features FragileSpeedster Dwarves (can move as far as they like in any direction, but have to outnumber to capture) against MightyGlacier Trolls (can only move one space but will win any 1v1 encounter). It's only properly played if a player plays both teams in one sitting.
