** Also subverted by the Adipose. Sure, the species are comprised of fat-cells, but the villain helping them get born is extremely thin and the only way for them to breed is for people to ''lose weight''. If people were happy with how fat they were, there would have been no problem.

* This Trope is massively subverted by Big Bertha, a supermodel who has several 'brick' superpowers, including invulnerability and superstrength, and the ability to change shape but only into an unrealistically obese (because if she were a real person, she would be immobile.) version of herself. Since no one recognises the obese form as the same as her normal form, she only fights crime as an obese person.
** {{Deadpool}} doesn't seem to mind her obese form, but then again he's...well...[[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Deadpool]].

** One episode in particular stands out- Peter forms an awareness group for fat people discrimination, and every last one of them conforms to this trope, making disturbing groaning noises, busting out snacks every few minutes, and making excuses for all their actions. One half-dead fat guy actually interrupts the action to ask if he can eat a dead fat guy that's in the same room as he is.

* Speaking of Homer, despite what one may initially think, ''TheSimpsons'' mostly subverts this trope. When 75% of the entire cast is fat -- Springfield is the fattest city in America! -- the fat people come in all temperaments. Everyone who's fat has their FatBastard moments, but it isn't always consistent, especially with the NegativeContinuity.

* Black Pete in all of his roles in {{Disney}} stuff is incredibly fat and an incredible bastard.
** Interestingly averted in ''GoofTroop'', where Pete is still a fat bastard but his son PJ, who's shaped pretty much like him (but with less of the ugly) is a really nice kid.

** Subvert! Don't forget Apple from ''{{Earthbound}}''! Far less popular in game than rival science-wiz kid Orange...who's thinner and with better social skills. As it turns out however, Orange has subpar scientific ability and is actually a bit of a jerk who's all show...while chubby and somewhat more socially awkward Apple is an absolute genius who actually cares about the fate of the world, and ultimately the wiz-kid the party ends up turning to.

** Keep in mind said example was more a result of Patrick becoming manic depressive without his best friend around and [[WellIntentionedExtremist going to extreme lengths to bring him back]]. He does have rather valid moments of this trope however, especially in later episodes thanks to {{Flanderization}}, "Rule Of Dumb" is a very extreme example.

* Basically subverted in the DoctorWho EighthDoctorAdventures books. The Doctor's WorthyOpponent Sabbath is rather on the chubby side of StoutStrength, because he just doesn't care about his appearance (for the same reason, his hair is so short as to almost count as BaldOfEvil). Once in a while, [[IShallTauntYou other characters make unflattering remarks about it]], but only rarely. He falls just short of being AffablyEvil, and has a number of EnemyMine situations (and quite a lot of FoeYay) with the Doctor. He just happens to be quite evil and quite large.[[hottip:*:And BigEater Fitz, who is in actual fact described as looking like he's "made of pipe cleaners", seems to eat more than he does, so Sabbath is hardly a VillainousGlutton.]]

But these aren't unsympathetic cases. Man, considering how popular narootoo is, you sure like shoving it in people's faces.

* ''{{Naruto}}'' played with weight in two interesting cases (leaving aside the major character Choji whose ninja powers are based on being massive and are also a family tradition).
** The ramen chef's beautiful daughter is kidnapped by a rival, who turns out to be the leader of a platoon of ninja chefs who are bitter about being laid off (this is why the use of [[MartialArtsAndCrafts ninja chefs]] stopped in the testing phase). Next time we see the chef's daughter she has doubled in weight due to enthusiastic feeding by the ninja chefs who are overjoyed to have someone new to taste their creations. Her father is horrified, then embraces the situation as an artistic challenge and invents delicious diet ramen. A few weeks later the daughter is back to normal but the father has become almost skeletal due to dieting too much, which the main characters comment on.
** Ino is assigned the mission of impersonating a princess to finalize an arranged marriage. The princess is in favor of the marriage - so much so that nervous eating caused her to gain a lot of weight since the idea was proposed. Ino, very appearance-conscious, is traumatized by the idea that a girl who looked almost identical to herself could so quickly and easily become quite fat. Then the fiance shows up and Ino is traumatized again - turns out he is quite chubby himself, as well as being a cross between an Elvis impersonator and a flamenco dancer. He does not seem very enthusiastic about Ino. Then he discovers the deception and, wonder of wonders, is much more pleased by the princess' Zaftig figure, telling her she has a sexy body and proclaiming his love. They are married, and everyone is happy except for Ino who seems permanently traumatized by the idea of fat people being considered attractive or being involved in romances.
** Jirobo, one of the Sound Ninja Four, is quite heavyset and sensitive about being called that. His fight against Choji was referred to as "Fatty vs. Fatty" in a recap episode of the top five ninja battles.
