Be advised when using these terms that by the time the name becomes well known to outsiders, it's often gathered some distaste by those within the fandom. "{{Trekkie}}" has reached universal status and even appears in reputable dictionaries, but while it has usage among the ''Franchise/StarTrek'' fandom, a VocalMinority within the fandom prefer usage of the term "Trekker" and only use "Trekkie" derisively. Likewise, "UsefulNotes/{{Whovian|s}}" comes primarily from US Public Television -- it was originated by, and for some time a trademark of, the ''Series/DoctorWho'' Fan Club of America -- and many fans outside the US think it sounds a bit silly, preferring the considerably more baroque but less jargonish "fans of the programme".

* Music/ChameleonCircuit: For all intents and purposes, UsefulNotes/Whovians. See Series/DoctorWho above. "Trockers" or "Trock Stars" may also apply.

* Those brave souls who participate in UsefulNotes/NaNoWriMo are referred to as Wrimos or Nanoers, depending on who you ask.

* Choombatta, or chummers, for ''TabletopGame/{{Cyberpunk}}''.

* "Vidmasters" for ''VideoGame/{{Marathon}}'' fans. The term originally referred to people who could beat every level on the hardest difficulty with only the starting equipment and without saving. Sometimes, "Spazeroid" is used for fans who are not very good at the game, but it didn't catch on as much.
* [=RuneScapers=] or Gielinorians (which is canon) for ''VideoGame/RuneScape'' players.

* Starconners (''VideoGame/StarControl'', after a member of the [[EstrogenBrigade Frungy Lovers]] Community decided that the other options were too odd.)
** Deviant Schoolgirls on Speed (members of the aforementioned [[http://community.livejournal.com/frungylovers/profile Frungy Lovers]] community, where MostFanficWritersAreGirls with [[Administrivia/TheContentPolicy ... interesting]] [[RuleThirtyFour consequences]]. Coined by a member on [[http://www.star-control.com/forum/index.php?topic=1582.0 a fan forum less prone to fan fiction,]] and subsequently embraced.)
* Taffers (''VideoGame/{{Thief}}'')
* Type-Lunatics (games by ''[[Franchise/{{Nasuverse}} Type-Moon]]'')

* Questers for fans of Creator/{{Sierra}} games.

* In the ''Franchise/DragonAge'' series, fans of certain ''characters'' get their own nicknames, such as [[VideoGame/DragonAgeII Fengirls and Fanders]].
* [=EarthBounders=] (or simply Bounders) for ''VideoGame/EarthBound1994''.
* "Fatlus" can refer to either the developer Creator/{{Atlus}} or the fans of their games, referencing the stereotype that most people who play [[EasternRPG JRPGs]] outside of Japan are fat nerds.
* Fans of ''Franchise/AssassinsCreed'' are creatively referred to as Assassins by both developers and fans.
* Dot pokers (''VideoGame/DJMAXTechnika'')

* Minecrafters, from, obviously, ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}''.
** Or Minecraftians.
* Fans of ''VideoGame/CrusaderKings'', ''VideoGame/EuropaUniversalis'', ''[[VideoGame/VictoriaAnEmpireUnderTheSun Victoria]]'', ''VideoGame/HeartsOfIron'', and ''VideoGame/{{Stellaris}}'' are collectively known as Paradoxians (after the developer, Creator/ParadoxInteractive).

* Flocks (''VideoGame/AngryBirds'')
* Sony fans are called the [=PlayStation=] Nation by SCE, and a number of less respectable names by detractors, among them "Sony Ponies".
* Nintendo fans in Russia are usually referred to as "[[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]]boys".
* Commanders, Spectres, and Reapers (''Franchise/MassEffect'') [[note]]All three terms have been used.[[/note]]
** Pathfinders (''VideoGame/MassEffectAndromeda'')
* Fans of ''VideoGame/TheSims'' series are referred to as Simmers, both within the fandom, as well as officially.
* ''VideoGame/LifeIsStrange'' fans often call themselves Strangers.
* ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' fans have begun to refer to themselves as "Undertale Trash" or just Trash.
* ''Franchise/{{Halo}}'' fans are often referred to as [=SPARTAN=]s, or [=ODST=]s (often leading to discussions on which one is more badass).
* ''VideoGame/LittleBigPlanet'' fans (or more accurately, Creators) are called Gadders or [=LittleBigPlanetians=].

* In a rare genre-wide example, fans (and especially [[TournamentPlay competitive players]]) of {{Fighting Game}}s are collectively known as the MediaNotes/FightingGameCommunity (or FGC). The genre-wide label comes from the fact that the scene started in the arcades and players tended to play more than one game.
* Fans of ''VideoGame/TheIdolMaster'' series are called Producers. It's also not uncommon for someone to note they are a (Character Name)P as a means of indicating a favorite.
* ''VideoGame/DarkSouls'': Skeletons, after the "Don't give up, skeleton!" meme in ''VideoGame/DarkSoulsII''. Also, once, the official Facebook account [[https://i.imgur.com/3n1FqlU.png tried using "Darkies"]]. For obvious reasons, it did not catch on.
* The ''VideoGame/{{Warframe}}'' community are referred to as "Tenno" by the devs. The community itself adopted "Registered Losers" as a nickname after a gaffe from Community Director Rebecca Ford had her mix up the word "users" with "losers" during an interview.
* "Monado Bois" for ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1'', based on [[MemeticMutation the nickname given to the protagonist Shulk]] by recurring villain Metal Face. This series also has an InvertedTrope, as anyone who tries to bash the series is called [[{{Pun}} "xenophobic"]].
* "Gensokyo Residents" or "2hufags" For ''Franchise/TouhouProject''.
** Also "sin sacks" for the ones who are mainly interested in "naughty" fan material; these sometimes appear in fanworks in person, represented as mostly-naked guys wearing bags on their heads with the kanji for "sin" (罪) on them.
* ''VideoGame/FallenLondon'' fans have taken to calling themselves "delicious friends".
* Players of ''VideoGame/TheDivision'' and ''VideoGame/TheDivision2'' are called Agents.
* The ''VideoGame/{{Destiny}}'' playerbase has been called Guardians.
* ARKS for players of ''VideoGame/PhantasyStarOnline2''.
* Travelers are the name of the playerbase of ''VideoGame/GenshinImpact''.
* The Funkdom (''VideoGame/FridayNightFunkin'')

* "Gachatard" for players of ''VideoGame/GachaLife'', used by anti-fans to refer to the unpleasant side of the fandom, though sometimes used to refer to the fandom in general.
* Fans of ''Creator/HideoKojima'' and his games are sardonically referred to as "The Cult of Kojima" by their detractors.
* A fan community exists InUniverse in ''VideoGame/Persona5'' for the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. Those who frequent the Phantom Thieves "phansite" and vocally support the Thieves are known as "the phandom" with individual supporters being called "phanboys" or "phangirls".
* In the case of ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'', Mario fans may sometimes call themselves Paisanos as a reference to ''The Super Mario Bros. Super Show''
* "Summoners" for fans of ''VideoGame/FireEmblemHeroes''. Especially considering that the summoner is supposed to represent the player. For ''Fire Emblem'' in general, many voice actors on Twitter refer to themselves as the "Fire Emblem Family".
* For ''VideoGame/{{Splatoon}}'', players may call themselves Squids or Inklings.
* ''VideoGame/DragaliaLost'' fans are known as Losties.
* Fans of ''VideoGame/LikeADragon'', often refer to themsleves and others as Kyodai(s), in reference to the prominent usage of the word throughout the series.

* WebVideo/CoryxKenshin has christened his fans the Samurai. This may derive from the "Kenshin" in his username being a reference to ''Manga/RurouniKenshin'', who is also a samurai.

* LetsPlay/CoryxKenshin has christened his fans the Samurai. This may derive from the "Kenshin" in his username being a reference to ''Manga/RurouniKenshin'', who is also a samurai.

* LetsPlay/PartyCrashers:

This has really picked up with the introduction of TheInternet, because fans can interact with each other on {{Fora}} and such. Website/FourChan and its derivatives have [[{{Snowclone}} a common template for such terms]]: Just take the name or premise of the show [[RefugeInAudacity and add "-fag" after it...]] (e.g. [[Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog Sonicfags]], [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Pokéfags]] or [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic Ponyfags]]) ... as suffixes attributed to their FanDumb.

* Fans of famous Creator/DisneyChannel celebrities have nicknames as well, often popularized on Website/{{Twitter}}:

* Music/TheProtomen: Protofans, 'Brotomen'(mostly on Website/{{Tumblr}}), the Light Brigade.

* "Fans" of Website/FourChan have names depending on which of the boards they prefer to post. To name a handful -

* Users on Website/FourChan's /b/ are collectively Anonymous, and individually "fags."

* AH.commers (Website/AlternateHistoryDotCom)

* The creator of the Website/{{Tumblr}} blog [[http://just-writer-problems.tumblr.com Just Writer Problems]] has a tendency to refer to her followers as "fellow freaks." (Completely affectionately, of course.)

* InUniverse in the ''WesternAnimation/InfinityTrain'' fic ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/30272415 Big Black Train]]'', which details how previous passengers are drawn to the music of Duet (older Book 4 protagonists Ryan and Min), fans of the band also refer to themselves as Passengers, with an EditWar on this very page mentioned regarding the precise reason.

* "Afpers" for ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'' fans who are on the {{UsefulNotes/Usenet}} group alt.fan.pratchett. Discworld fans also sometimes call themselves "Loonies", because that's what [[Creator/TerryPratchett Sir Terry]] called them. He meant it affectionately. We think.

** Brent's fandom is called the "Kingdom of Skill", as to fit with the monarchy motif of his [=YouTuber=] handle.

* ''LetsPlay/PartyCrashers'':

* Xboners for UsefulNotes/XboxOne fans.

* And then there's the [[UsefulNotes/FurryFandom furries]], which at least started out as a fan group of "anthropomorphic" animals. The focus hasn't shifted, but it has broadened somewhat. And the fandom's population has positively exploded over the last few years.
