* TabletopGame/TheStrange:
** The Forest of Perfidy which grew in the World Below of Starship Heinlein is inhabited by sinroots, sentient, mobile, aggressive tree-like creatures that use barbed roots to feed on blood.
** The Gloomwood, part of the Sword Realms, is foreboding and shadowed, even when the sun is high. A bloodborne corruption burrowed up out of a hellish realm under the earth, filling a portion of the wood with gloom, evil, and vampires.

* Literature/InheritanceCycle: Du Weldenvarden, where the Elves have been living in hiding since the rise of Galbatorix. The forest's magic makes it one of the "safer" places in the books, but the magic of the elves is fading due to Galbatorix's use of BlackMagic, and in order for the Elves to ensure their safety, Galbatorix must fall. Eragon also goes there for training in being a Dragon Rider.

* Literature/KingsOfTheWyld: The Heartwyld is a massive forest filled with monsters, magic, and wild creatures. The forest itself is cursed on some level, as prolongued exposure causes humans to catch the Rot, a slow and terminal disease that causes parts of the body to char black and crumble away.
* In Literature/TheLastUnicorn, most unicorns take up solitary residence in a forest, which becomes enchanted due to their presence. The titular unicorn lives in a "lilac wood" where ItsAlwaysSpring, and where locals never bother to hunt because her magic protects the resident animals.

* In the Literature/TalesOfTheFiveHundredKingdoms series, most forests are this due to the will of the Tradition. Those who know enough magic can use the woods as a kind of fast-travel system, via the "all forests are one" spell.

* In Literature/Xanth, the whole country is one of these, outside of the rare settled areas. The roads are enchanted to be safe, but venturing off of them leaves one vulnerable to many deadly foes, both animal and vegetable.

Appearece-wise, these forests are typically temperate deciduous or mixed woodlands based on the ones typically found in Europe, as part of fantasy's general fantasy slant. Exceptions are typically based on haunted, mysterious boreal taigas, which can overlap with depictions of the GrimUpNorth. Tropical forests are rare. On occasion, the otherworldly nature of an Enchanted Forest may be emphasized by depicting it as a somewhat alien environment, such as a patchwork mixture of forest types that would not otherwise ever exist together.
