* ''WesternAnimation/BlueEyeSamurai:'' Mizu's name means "water" and she has several associations with the element. Her combat style is fluid and adaptable. She is constantly on the move, and Mama told her that her survival lay in being "like water" and impossible to catch. She is also frequently shown bathing, exercising, or fighting near bodies of water. Her blue eyes and the blue sheen to her sword also reinforce her association with the element. Rather than anything nurturing or life-giving, however, Mizu's nature represents the facets of water that are dangerous, wrathful, unstoppable, and full of sorrow.

* ''Series/{{Succession}}'': Kendall Roy is strongly associated with water, and he has several character-defining moments in or around bodies of water. It seems to variously represent his desire to change (water being associated with cleansing and rebirth), his [[MoodSwinger mercurial personality]], and his FatalFlaw of being easily shaped by outside forces.

* ''Literature/SailorNothing'': While the protagonist Himei's actual powers are more themed around "[[PowerOfTheVoid nothing]]," and [[PersonalityPowers she does feel very empty and dead inside]], she also has a strong association with ice. The other characters' [=POVs=] specifically describe her as "icy" and "cold," her mind is teetering on the edge of sanity from the trauma she's endured, and she [[IceQueen desperately wants to not be involved in her nightmare world]]. She is aloof, keeps her emotions locked up tight, and she is dangerously fragile.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'': Though subtle, the more is shown about [[Characters/TheOwlHouseEmperorBelos Emperor Belos]] true character, the more he is shown to have a wood motif. [[spoiler:One of Philip's most prized possessions from childhood was the wooden mask his brother carved for him to play with, becoming the inspiration for his 'Emperor Belos' mask and being prominently featured when the Inner Belos disguises himself as his childhood self. His brother is greatly implied to have been a woodcarver, and what's shown of their [[SiblingMurder fatal argument]] seems to have taken place in a heavily-wooded forest. They first met a witch from the Boiling Isles in what appears to bee a wooded area. He sustains himself by draining the essence from Palismen, carved wooden creations, and his true name of 'Wittebane' sounds similar to 'whittle bane', as in the act of carving wood into a certain shape. His currently elderly, wrinkled and scarred appearance, combined with the band of '[[FacialHorror rot]]' running across his face, visually evokes the imagery of a dead, but still standing, tree, it's inner decay showing on the surface. This is further evoked by the visual of his Mindscape, [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/belos_mindscape.png the trees that hold his memories being barren and withered]], similarly rotten but still-upright. As Belos, Philip pretends to nurture and teach the Denizens of the Boiling Isles the 'right' way to use magic, and even managed to reverse-engineer the Glyph magic system well enough to pioneer {{Magitech}} from it, but is ultimately only forwarding his own self-serving agenda of [[FinalSolution destroying them all]], seeing it as the 'natural order' of things and is implied to hold a degree of anger towards the inherent magic of the isles for his brother choosing to 'betray' him over it. The stiffness of wood is also called to mind by the sheer inflexibility of his convictions, as he continuously believes that witch-kind and anything magic-related in inherently evil in spite of evidence to the contrary, can barely be moved or persuaded by anyone even if they do something in his name (Lilith, Hunter and Kikimora are examples) and won't even look to Wild Magic for a cure to his condition.]]

* ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'': Though ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse''
** [[LightisGood Light]], fitting [[Characters/TheOwlHouseLuzNoceda Luz Noceda]] selfless and optimistic nature. Over the course of the series she slowly makes the Boiling Isles a better and brighter place to live, and her [[PositiveFriendInfluence loved ones, especially her girlfriend Amity, become happier people]]. Additionally, Luz also serves to illuminate the truth behind the Emperor's Coven and the goals of Belos, as well as revealing the truth behind the very nature of magic in the Demon Realm, which ultimately frees the Isles from the Emperor's monstrous machinations, and allows them to practice WildMagic freely. Even her ''name'' literally translates as "light", furthering the point.

* ''Literature/TheHungerGames'': Katniss was strongly associated with fire throughout the series. In addition to her nickname being "The Girl on Fire", she also came from the coal-mining district with a bread-toasting marriage tradition, was attacked with fire by her sponsors in the arena, and even describes herself as having a fire that needed to be tempered by Peeta's calm "dandelion". Her action in the games spawned a literal and metaphorical fire across Panem that lead to the rebellion's resurgence, and her declaration that "fire is catching". [[spoiler:It turns ironic and bitter in the end, when she literally catches on fire while trying to save Prim, leaving her with severe burn scars and mentally broken.]]
