If the prompter manages to talk to his buddy on the airwaves ''and'' the people around him at the same time, it's a MultitaskedConversation. The verbal version of MimingTheCues. The person on the end of the headset is usually MissionControl or the VoiceWithAnInternetConnection. See also IsThisThingStillOn.

Inevitably, the prompter is distracted by something on their end and says something not meant to be repeated, but the clueless person on the other end [[RepeatAfterMe faithfully parrots it anyway]]. Even worse, the phrase will not only be non-sensical, but completely rude or offensive when [[AstonishinglyAppropriateInterruption paired with the context of the remote conversation]]. Also, connection issues can cause the instructor's speech to be garbled or distorted, leaving the receiver repeating the wrong words.

The conversator never seems to consider even for a second that their friend may have been interfered with and that they should disregard their transmissions, as screaming out [[NotInTheFace "OH GOD! NOT THE FACE!"]] might not be the best thing to do while you're trying to impress your dream date in a crowded restaurant. The instructor also never seems to catch on that they are worsening their helpless friend's situation and that they should mute their mic.

A person is coached through a conversation by someone else who feeds them with lines they need to repeat. The conversation is often with a romantic love interest, interviewer/interrogator, or authority figure, which will have serious implications that are dependent on the character precisely answering with the right phrases.

This will inevitably lead to a situation where the prompter is distracted by something and says or does something not meant to be heard and repeated, but the person on the other end [[RepeatAfterMe faithfully mimics it anyway]]. The IdiotBall is promptly passed to the person wearing the earpiece as they do as they were instructed, never considering even for a second that screaming out [[NotInTheFace "OH GOD! NOT THE FACE!"]] might not be the best thing to do while you're trying to impress your dream date in a crowded restaurant.

Sometimes a variant occurs where the receiver's connection goes bad, and what would otherwise be the perfect thing to say gets misheard as something else.
