* Film/MexicanHayride: While trying to blend in with some other musicians in a mariachi band, Bascom plays a trombone, only to mangle his attempts at doing so. He's not any better with a piccolo when he tries that instead.

* Non-human example in "WesternAnimation/LeagueOfSuperEvil" where in iDestruct, Doktor Frogg uses an Opera Blaster, which plays extremely off-key opera notes to scare off the line, only for Doomageddon to destroy the machine.

* In Series/AlloAllo, when Rene's wife Edith prepares to sing in the cafe, all the patrons pass round cotton wool (or cheese) to stuff in their ears. (Cast members have recalled in interviews that Creator/CarmenSilvera truly was completely tone deaf, so her terrible singing is not an affectation.)

* Fanfic/AtomicNumber79: Krillin is terrible at singing but goes all out at karaoke anyway. Vegeta describes his singing as bad enough to kill cats.

* Digital from WebAnimation/RoboSplaat attempts to make a song, with his older brother Splaat pointing out he records a cat meowing and attempts to incorporate it into the song. "Attempt" being the key word here. The result does nothing to help with Digital being an AnnoyingYoungerSibling to Splaat.

* WesternAnimation/TopCatAndTheBeverlyHillsCats: Amy Vandergelt has a habit of singing variations on "Tomorrow" from Franchise/Annie, but her singing is physically painful to Top Cat and the rest of the gang. Worse, she doesn't seem to realize it.

* "WesternAnimation/Thomas&Friends": Thomas plays with this trope. In Too Loud, Thomas, his opera singing is so bad that it makes a little girl's balloon pop, birds fly away, a cow run away and a shed collapses. He's a great singer, but atrocious at singing opera.

* Anime/SaberMarionetteJ: Subverted with Hanagata, who in an episode tries to find something he's good at to prevent his father from taking him away, and he decides to take to singing and playing music. He's actually not that bad at it, but he picked up the nighttime when the whole neighborhood wants to sleep and they don't appreciate being woken up.

* In WesternAnimation/RubyGloom, both Ruby and Misery audition as vocalist for Frank & Len's band and sound horrible. Averted in that when Misery sings in her sleep, she's a fantastic singer, the only problem being how to make sure she's asleep when she needs to perform.

** In "Naughty Nautical Neighbors", [=SpongeBob=] is revealed to be absolutely terrible in playing the double bass, so much so he doesn't even know what it's called (he refers to it as a "bassinet," which in actuality is a wicker baby cradle). The one time he tries to play a song it sounds more like metal scraping on metal than anything resembling music, and he bows the strings with such excessive force that he launches the bow into one of Squidward's paintings.

After doing so, he then attempts to strum it like a guitar, mercifully only for a few seconds before being interrupted.

* Cacofonix the bard from Comicbook/Asterix is an absolutely horrid singer. The entire village conspires to keep him from singing, to the point of tying him up and gagging him whenever they have a celebration (i.e. the end of every book). The blacksmith, Fulliautomatix, is always trying to shut him up with a sledgehammer; if not him, the gods themselves will throw a BoltOfDivineRetribution. In later parts of the series, he can start horrible rainstorms with his singing, and he's implied to be ancestor of bad musicians everywhere. His exploits include:
