* In ''WebComic/Rain2010'', Rain disowns her biological father in a dream, telling him that her Aunt Fara, who raised her from the age of 12, is her true mother [[spoiler: and that her gestational parent, who Rain learned only after his death was really a closeted trans man, is her true father]]. She never comes face to face with her father in waking life, but it's a pretty safe bet she'd react the same way if she did.

* Implied in ''Literature/InCryptid'': When Alexander and Enid left the Covenant and crossed the ocean to America, they left their children Charles and Ada behind, most likely because they had already been indoctrinated too deeply with the Covenant's VanHelsingHateCrimes ideals. Presumably, Charles and Ada considered their parents traitors, as did the rest of the Covenant.

* Rainbow Dash in ''Fanfic/{{Alicorn}}'' makes it repeatedly clear that she does not consider Celestia her mother, and only ever calls her "mom" when she's being sarcastic or when she's delirious from sickness. There are multiple reasons for this: First is that she's deeply resentful of Celestia for abandoning her as a child, second is that she sees accepting Celestia as her mother as a betrayal of her deceased adopted parents whom she loves dearly, and third is that being seen as Celestia's daughter would overshadow anything else she does in her life. When Celestia tries to convince her to let her make their familial relationship public, Rainbow refuses because introducing her to Equestria as Celestia's daughter would mean that nothing she ever does will be more notable than being Princess Aurora, daughter of Celestia.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'': [[Characters/TheOwlHouseAmityBlight Amity Blight]] has a very difficult relationship with her mother Odalia, [[HelicopterParents who is extremely controlling, demanding constant obedience and caring more about their family's reputation than her daughter's happiness]]. It comes to a head when [[spoiler:Amity learns [[TheQuisling Odalia has been complicit]] with Belos' FinalSolution plot to [[ItsAllAboutMe satiate her own greed]]]], resulting in Amity coldly stating she will never speak to her again. Later, when the kids display drawings of their families, Odalia is conspicuously absent from Amity's picture.
