* The Music/{{Tsukipro}} franchise is a "2.5D", real-time music and drama CD series, where the episodes happen as they're released; the characters, who were originally in high school, age; the scenes take place in real places; etc. It's also pretty MerchandiseDriven. So this was inevitable. It's most notable with the series' mascots, a different animal for each pair of groups and a different color for each member. They've also defictionalized several plays and events that the characters have been said to perform in in the story, making them into real-life stage plays.

* The 2D idols of Music/{{Tsukipro}} are fictional characters who release real music singles and post their RealTime stories on social media. As idols, the characters do a lot of acting work, and since 2015, they've done a combined play every year, with all the idols playing AlternateUniverse versions of themselves. In 2019, the [[Theatre/{{Tsukiuta}} stage play adaptation]] of their stories started performing these plays in full. So, instead of getting backstage episodes about the characters performing, with only snippets of the actual play, we now get the actual plays in full, in addition to TrappedInAnotherWorld stories. So far, Theatre/TsukinoEmpire, Theatre/MachineElements, Theatre/TsukihanaKagura, and Theatre/{{Zanshin}} have gotten this treatment.

* ''[[Defictionalization/TheSimpsons The Simpsons]]''

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheRenAndStimpyShow'' has two examples;
** The LOG toy from Blammo, which only existed as a [[ParodyCommercial fake commercial in-universe]], eventually did become a real Ren and Stimpy related toy.
** Creator/JohnKricfalusi noted on the DVD commentary for ''Sven Hoek'' that there is or was a website dedicated to the Loyal Order of Stupids, Sven and Stimpy's "club" in that episode.
** [[https://www.facebook.com/renandstimpy/videos/10155142726945966/ A post from the show's official Facebook page in March 2018]] hinted that Powdered Toast would soon be available in stores, but no such product was ever released, likely due to the sexual assault allegations against Creator/JohnKricfalusi which broke later that month.
* ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'' - Purely unintentional...probably, but there has been a great deal of positive response to Taco Bell's new Beefy Nacho Burrito because after ten years they finally caved and made a real life Naco.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Metalocalypse}}'' - Dethklok released an album in 2006 ''The Dethalbum'', which according to Billboard is the ''biggest selling death metal album of all time'' and followed it with a brief tour as opening act for the indie rock band And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, and later a headlining tour in 2008.
* Now you too can be strong to the finish with ComicStrip/{{Popeye}}'s [[http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9md2XVxhJkY/UAIzKux6nsI/AAAAAAAADMc/y9r8sCjZnSc/s1600/popeye+spinach.JPG brand spinach]]. At least it doesn't come with taurine in it.
* Real versions of Cheesy Poofs and Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls appeared early in the flood of ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'' merchandise. The Cheesy Poofs were notably sold in movie theaters to help promote [[WesternAnimation/SouthParkBiggerLongerAndUncut the movie]], and came back for a spell in 2011.
** I love cheesy poofs, You love cheesy poofs. If we didn't eat cheesy poofs, We'd be...[[http://www.incrediblethings.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/south-park-cheesy-poofs.jpg Lame]].
** The [[VideoGame/WorldofWarcraft Sword of a Thousand Truths]] became a ''The Burning Crusade'' expansion pack item.
** A ''VideoGame/GuitarHero'' arcade machine was released about a year or two after "Guitar Queer-o" aired. Cartman played [[Music/LadyGaga Poker Face]] on ''VideoGame/RockBand'', which wasn't actually available until later. You can tell this defictionalization was a response to the scene in question since there is also a Cartman version.
** As of December 2016, you can now buy replicas of Stan's, Kyle's, Cartman's, and Kenny's [[http://odditymall.com/burton-south-park-hats hats]].
* ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'':
** Burger King released a Krabby Patty to tie in with TheMovie, only with beef patties instead of [[http://spongebob.wikia.com/wiki/Krabby_Patty imitation crabmeat]] patties. There are also the candy Gummy Krabby Patties from Frankford Candy.
** Fans on 4chan have also [[http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9kmr8uGjx1rrvz01o1_1280.jpg theorized]] and [[http://thechive.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/bossy-delux-9.jpg constructed]] the Double Triple Bossy Deluxe [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A67YpUs6sQ from "Pickles"]]. [[note]][[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking They forgot the pickles, though...]][[/note]]
** Squidward's painting "Bold and Brash", from the episode ''Artist Unknown'', is often imitated by real life painters and can even be bought online on Amazon. Ironic, considering that, in-universe, the art critic that evaluated "Bold and Brash" said that it 'belongs in the trash'.
** A company called Salta Burgers constructed a real-life Krusty Krab which opened in Ramallah, Palestine/Israel on July 24, 2014, replicating the [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/saltakrab.png arch-shaped exterior]] and the [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/inside.png interior]] with meticulous accuracy.
** The pirate painting from the beginning of the show's theme song is an actual item sold at Hot Topic.
** Nick.com posted an official Krabby Patty recipe, which has since been spread around the internet on places like [[https://www.reddit.com/r/spongebob/comments/8kmo8j/the_krabby_patty_secret_formula_dont_tell_plankton/ Reddit]].
** Someone actually made a real life version of the board game Patrick invented in the episode Patrick! The Game which you can see [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0uYPPaFVGM here]].
* [[WesternAnimation/ScoobyDoo Scooby Snacks]] [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scooby_Snacks now exist]], both for humans and for dogs.
** A number of Scooby-Doo fans have also decorated their vans into the Mystery Machine livery.
* In a strange sort of semi-example, the ''WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated'' version of Soundwave is essentially a Scion xB with SerialNumbersFiledOff -- more streamlined and slightly more futurey. The Scion xB was redesigned... ''and it looks like Soundwave.''
* Goodwood's ''Junior Festival of Speed'' has defictionalized all eleven vehicles from ''WesternAnimation/WackyRaces'' into [[http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/08/hanna-barberas-wacky-racers-take-to-the-street-ahead-of-goodwoo/ full sized working cars]]. They also have people dressed as the drivers of each vehicle (characters like Muttley and Sawtooth get full body costumes).
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2apYrKvgLw This Peugeot commercial]] from Italy takes it further and has the racers in human flesh and blood forms.
* The ''WesternAnimation/DungeonsAndDragons1983'' cartoon introduced several character classes (such as the cavalier, the barbarian, and the acrobat) that were not part of the [[TabletopGame/AdvancedDungeonsAndDragonsSecondEdition AD&D]] rules at the time. Naturally, they were added in a later revision.
* And let's not forget Pai Sho! The game of strategy in ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender,'' [[http://paisho.pbworks.com/ now with fan made rules.]]
* There are now official ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' [[http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/PopCulture/AdventureTimeWithFinnAndJakeAlgebraic/Adventure-Time-Finn-White-Awesome-Hat-199262.jsp Finn hats]]
** And official [[http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/f0e6/ Finn backpacks.]]
** The "Card Wars" CollectibleCardGame from the titular episode has been adapted into an actual game, both in physical and iOS/Android video game formats.
* Moosylvania from ''WesternAnimation/RockyAndBullwinkle'' nearly became the name of a small state next to Minnesota. The "Moosylvania for Statehood" campaign was cut short when the petition reached the White House just as the Cuban Missile Crisis was unfolding.
* In August 2010, a number of Disney Stores across America held events where kids could make their own Perry the Platypus Inaction Figure, like the ones from the ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'' episode "Toy to the World".
** Speaking of which, a pretty good amount of fans have tried to create Ducky Momo stuffed animals modeled after Candace's own Ducky Momo. And some people were lucky enough to receive an actual plate based off of the one where they accidentally printed "I Hate People".
* The ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' episode "Lesson Zero" featured a stuffed doll called "Ms. Smartypants". A real-life version was completed within 7 hours of the episode's airing. Not to mention that many fans have gone out of their way to make their own version of toys and plush to be more consistent with the show than the actual products offered by Hasbro.
** The fans go so far as to try out various recipes on the show, which range from the [[http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/04/baked-bads-recipe-step-by-step-images.html baked bads]] from "Applebuck Season", to the surprisingly appetizing [[http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/01/chimicherrychonga-compilation.html Chimmicherrychangas]] from "The Last Roundup".
** And, after the JustForFun/DaringDo page got popular, some bronies decided to start defictionalizing the core books, based on the (actually quite detailed) page.
** The VideoGame/AdventurePonies game appeared in a random promo for Creator/TheHub before its official release.
** Not to mention the Discord lamp from "Keep Calm and Flutter On", the lead-pony and wingpony badges from "Wonderbolt Academy", the Reference Guide to the Elements of Harmony, the Alicorn Amulet and Element of Harmony necklaces...
** The horseshoe fries from "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E15TwilightTime Twilight Time]]" have also been [[http://derpiboo.ru/560993 defictionalized]].
** On the official merchandise side of things, we have [[http://www.amazon.com/Little-Pony-Adventure-Collection-Three-Book/dp/0316406120/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_y Daring Do books]] (by G.M. ** Czech brony musician Tommy Scraton has given himself the artist name DJ Pon-3.
** Someone [[https://derpiboo.ru/705443 defictionalized]] the unicorn horn disabler/changeling detector from "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E24EquestriaGames Equestria Games]]". It appeared at the 2014 [=BronyCAN=] convention, where it was auctioned off for 200 dollars.
** IDW has published a real [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E6PowerPonies Power Ponies]] [[http://mlpfimfuture.deviantart.com/journal/The-REAL-Power-Ponies-481425084 comic]].
** Someone [[https://www.equestriadaily.com/2020/12/amazing-twilight-sparkle-ballerina.html defictionalized]] the Twilight Sparkle ballerina doll from [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS7E10ARoyalProblem A Royal Problem]].

** A restaurant also sold, for a limited time, a real life version of [[http://www.capitalbay.com/news/492172-could-you-handle-the-ulti-meatum-chip-shop-boss-creates-10-000-calorie-burger-within-a-burger.html the Ulti-Meatum]], from the episode "The Best Burgers In The World".
* ''WesternAnimation/DanVs'' has licensed Dan's [[http://www.zazzle.com/danvsshop/gifts?cg=196215534129124738 "JERK" shirt]].
* The eponymous character in the children's show ''WesternAnimation/TheodoreTugboat'' lives in a fictionalized version of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Since 2000, visitors to the real-life Halifax have been able to take a harbour tour aboard ''Theodore Too'', a full-scale replica of the character.
* The Disney WartimeCartoon ''Victory Through Air Power'' showed a rocket-assisted bomb punch through a German submarine pen's roof and detonate inside, before [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_bomb such a bomb]] existed.
* In some places you can buy [[http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbefkbi2ab1qja405o2_500.jpg pins that look like PID icons]] from ''WesternAnimation/ReBoot''.

* There are replicas of WesternAnimation/{{Dora|The Explorer}}'s backpack available for purchase.
* Speaking of backpacks, Cartoon Network is selling an official cheeseburger backpack like that worn by one WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse.
** Steven's iconic star T-shirt is also officially available, as is the Guitar Dad shirt from "Shirt Club" and the hot dog duffel bag from the short "Novelty Backpack".
** On a less official note, some fans have made it their mission to recreate [[https://love-takes-work.tumblr.com/food some of the more outlandish food products]] from the show, like the Dog-Nut and an "everything" pizza.
** Cartoon Network is also selling a replica of Steven’s iconic varsity jacket from [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverseTheMovie the movie]] and ''[[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverseFuture Future]]''.
* ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'':
** After many unofficial replicas sold online, Disney gave the rights to online retailer We Love Fine[[note]](now known as For Fans By Fans)[[/note]] to sell an official replica of Dipper's hat for a short period of time.
** [[https://themysteryshack.com/collections/gravity-falls The Mystery Shack]] sells Dipper's original hat, two alternate replicas of Dipper's pine tree hat, Mabel's shooting star sweater, Mabel's pink heart hat from "Soos and the Real Girl", Stan's fez, Soos' Mystery Shack staff t-shirt, Soos' Pterodactyl Bros. t-shirt, Pizza Guy's Free Pizza t-shirt, Cool Stump t-shirt, What is the Mystery Shack? bumper stickers, Mr. Mystery Bobbleheads, and copies of the iconic Journal 3[[note]](including briefly selling some copies of the special blacklight edition during the initial release.)[[/note]].
** The centerpiece of the series, the Author's Journal 3, [[Literature/GravityFallsJournal3 was released as a book]] a few months after the series finale, with a special edition version[[note]]only 10,000 copies were made[[/note]] that more closely resembled the in-series book (pages are made of parchment, black-light hidden messages, a magnifying glass, etc.) being sold almost a year after the show ended.
** A full version of "Disco Girl" ([[UnmanlySecret with Dipper accompanyment]]) can be found on Youtube [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGtxGacnqls here]].
* [[http://thebobsburgerexperiment.tumblr.com/ A blog]] dedicated to recreating the daily special burger recipes from ''WesternAnimation/BobsBurgers''.
* Every iteration of the [[WesternAnimation/Ben10 Omnitrix]] has been available as a toy that can be bought from the Bandai online store.
* Several replicas of ''WesternAnimation/ThomasAndFriends'' operate around the world, mostly at official events known as ''A Day Out with Thomas''. Replicas of Toby the Tram and (non-functioning) Percy also exist. Similarly, locomotives at the Talyllyn Railway in Wales are often painted to resemble their "twins" at the Skarloey Railway.
* Also unintentionally invoked when ''WesternAnimation/DocMcstuffins'' plushes were released, since Lambie, Stuffy, Chilly and Hallie are plushes in the show to begin with, and at that, regular inanimate plushes brought to life with a magical MacGuffin.
* "Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp Resorts" are a real-life franchise of campgrounds based on Jellystone National Park from ''WesternAnimation/YogiBear''.
* ''WesternAnimation/OverTheGardenWall'': Mondo Tees had a limited release of [[spoiler: the cassette tape Wirt made for Sara]]. More recently, Hot Topic carries a variation of Wirt's cape, complete with an attached red hood that evokes his conical hat.
* Foods from ''WesternAninmation/WeBareBears" are also being brought to life.
* ''WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty'': The collector's shop FYE Sells [[http://www.fye.com/s/product/4774273/Exclusive-Rick-Morty-Strawberry-Smiggles-Cereal?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8sGpn8f71gIVgj2BCh26QAfhEAAYASAAEgJ3XfD_BwE Strawberry Smiggles]], the fictional cereal from the episode "Rixty Minutes" (though whether or not making a food product based on such a {{squick}}y scene is a good idea is debatable). There'a also real plumbuses you can buy.
* For a limited time in 2017, the Reptar Bars and Reptar Cereal from ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'' were sold at FYE and Suncoast. And yes, the Reptar bars do in fact turn your tongue green, though they sadly aren't actually shaped liked Reptar, nor do they contain caramel or nuts. FYE's Reptar Cereal is merely a Froot Loops clone, a far cry from the version seen in the show ("They're round, they're mean, they turn milk green!").

* In the ''WesternAnimation/{{Animaniacs}}'' episode "Lookit the Fuzzy Heads", the Warners have their own puppets in their likeness that are used during a therapy session. Dakin made them into actual toys a few months after the episode aired.
* [[https://www.cartooncuisine.com/ Cartoon Cuisine]] has the blogger make food that is seen in various cartoons.
* ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'': ''Literature/TheMagicBookOfSpells'' is a tie-in book based on the royal spellbook seen in a few episodes, with tons of additional backstory information on Star's ancestors.
* WesternAnimation/TheEpicTalesOfCaptainUnderpants: ''George and Harold's Epic Comix Collection'' features all the comics made during the first two seasons of the show.
* ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales2017'' features an in-universe example with WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck. Rather than being an actual superhero, he's just the main character of a TV show that Launchpad used to watch as a kid. But when plans for a DarkerAndEdgier reboot movie fall through, he inspires the actor hired for the role to become a superhero for real.
* The signature cars of ''WesternAnimation/PostmanPat'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/NoddysToylandAdventures Noddy]]'' have been made into real-life vehicles.
** For ''Noddy, Toyland Detective'', the [=WhoWhatWhere=] Pad Noddy uses to solve mysteries was made into a real toy.
* ''WesternAnimation/PAWPatrol'': Ryder's motorcycle, Chase's police car, Marshall's firetruck and Skye's airplane were all made into ride-on toys for kids.
* In a similar vein to the above, the vehicles in ''WesternAnimation/PJMasks'' also have ride-on versions. There's also kid-sized versions of the trio's costumes and a PJ Robot toy.
* ''WesternAnimation/DanielTigersNeighborhood'':
** PBS' parents site for the show has posted many official recipes for food from the show, such as [[https://www.pbs.org/parents/recipes/make-daniel-tiger-banana-swirl banana swirl ice cream]] from "Daniel Tries A New Food", [[https://www.pbs.org/parents/recipes/veggie-soup Grandpere's vegetable soup]] from "Daniel Gets A Cold" and [[https://www.pbs.org/parents/recipes/mozie-mazing-cookies Jodi's mozie cookies]].
** There are two official plushies of Daniel's favorite stuffed animal, Tigey, one of which talks.
* The GreatBigBookOfEverything from ''WesternAnimation/{{Stanley}}'' [[https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-Great-Big-Book-Everything/dp/078683384X/ref=pd_sbs_74_3/143-7334538-2117137?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=078683384X&pd_rd_r=866c392d-4aa3-498b-bdef-d4ccfafc85b5&pd_rd_w=gpxxj&pd_rd_wg=oLGQh&pf_rd_p=b65ee94e-1282-43fc-a8b1-8bf931f6dfab&pf_rd_r=JW3EE97MQJGHXFDAVSG0&psc=1&refRID=JW3EE97MQJGHXFDAVSG0 was published as a tie-in book]] during the show's run.

* ''Series/{{Emergency}}'' was centered on Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 51. The number was chosen ''because'' the [=LACoFD=] didn't have one. (The one appearing on-screen was actually Station 127 in Carson.) In 1994, the County fire station at Universal City -- site of Universal Studios Hollywood -- was changed from 60 to 51 in honor of the show.
* The sitcom ''Series/{{Bob}}'' was a show about Bob [=McKay=], a man who created a Silver Age comic book character called "Mad Dog," which was revived and "reinvisioned" for the '90s. During the run of the show, Creator/MarvelComics published [[http://www.andymangels.com/maddog.html a double covered comic book called "Mad Dog"]] that was one half the 50s version, and the other half the 90s, with things like an "Ask Bob [=McKay=]" feature in the middle.
* ''Series/ICarly'', of course, has the website from the show itself; a recent addition to its list of merchandise is Sam's LaughTrack remote. In addition, [[http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/06/dining/06tacos.html?ref=todayspaper some people]] have begun making their very own spaghetti tacos after seeing them on the show.
* In one episode of ''Series/LizzieMcGuire'', Lizzie was inspired to spend more time with her mother after reading a novel titled ''The Orchids and Gumbo Poker Club'' for a school assignment. Disney later published an actual novel with that title, with notes from Lizzie included in the margins.
* ''Series/HannahMontana'' had a real concert tour in the late 2000s. It was a sold out tour that actually lead to a couple lawsuits against ticket scalpers! The concert tied into the Hannah Montana show because some of the footage from the tour was used in the second season. The concert featured Hannah for the first half, and Miley Stewart (who had no problem revealing her secret in front of tens of thousands of people, but the audience knows that since they've seen the show) for the second half. The concert was released as a movie after the tour in 2008, and a real movie based on the show was made in 2009.
* ''Series/SonnyWithAChance'':
** ''Mackenzie Falls'', one of the [[ShowWithinAShow Shows Within A Show]] featured on ''Sonny'', later became real (though as a short series that aired between commercials).
** ''Series/SoRandom'' as a real life show happened as well. In fact, one commercial actually referred to it as The ShowWithinAShow that's now its own show.[[note]]In fairness, this was mostly because [[Music/DemiLovato Sonny's actor]] had to leave their own show to get treated for various psychological problems, thus ending the series proper... ''but with one thing that never got resolved (If Sonny and Chad ever reconciled and got back together)''.[[/note]]
** ''Sonny'' also had a HalloweenSpecial and a ChristmasSpecial, both of which were actual ''So Random'' episodes. (The only bit of the ''Sonny'' show was in the afformentioned Halloween episode when they try to find the guest host to show up on the said episode.)
* ''Franchise/KamenRider'':
** ''Series/KamenRiderDouble'' has the radio show ''Healing Princess'', which has actually been released on Creator/TVAsahi's website and has even been {{fansub}}bed. They are also marketing real-world copies of the heroes' clothing, complete with the Windscale designer's imprint. Naturally, the belts for all the riders can be bought. Some series even have a 1:1 scale replica made for adult fans under Bandai's "Complete Selection Modification" series of belts.
** ''Series/KamenRiderOOO'' follows in its predecessor's footsteps with the [[http://p-bandai.jp/category/0002/c0034/item-1000006968/ flowery boxers]] that the titular Rider wears in-show.
** In ''Series/KamenRiderExAid'', the lead hero uses a video game called ''Mighty Action X'', a ''VideoGame/{{Kirby}}''-esque platformer, as his TransformationTrinket. To promote the show, ''Mighty Action X'' was released on the Japanese Nintendo 3DS [=eShop=] as a downloadable title for players who purchased the 1st print of ''[[VideoGame/AllKamenRiderGenerations All Kamen Rider: Rider Revolution]]''. There's also a version of the Buggle Driver Zwei with [[spoiler:a trapped Bugster!Dan Kuroto]] in its display released [[NoExportForYou as a Premium Bandai exclusive]].
* Despite not having the in-show [=YouTube=] {{Expy}} Vuuugle defictionalized, you can watch the actual web videos from the ''Series/{{Bizaardvark}}'' Vuuugle channel (with some not seen on TV) as well as some from the other Vuuugle channels "Perfect Perfection with Amelia" and "DARE ME BRO!" on [[https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiv1IUQDVSNKwIRPNCnfXixEuZijEG6ok Disney Channel's official YouTube channel.]]
* ''Yay Me! starring London Tipton'', a web series that London did that was brought up a few times (and sometimes even shown!) in the third season of ''Series/TheSuiteLifeOfZackAndCody'', became a series of webisode tie-ins on the Disney Channel website in the past.
* You can buy an ebook version of Kathryn Kennish's book from ''Series/SwitchedAtBirth'' about the switch.
* In 2004, the American Creator/{{ABC}} and Wal-Mart teamed up to produce ''Enchantment'', a perfume that previously had existed only as a product of Erica Kane's cosmetic company on ''Series/AllMyChildren''.
** Kendall Hart's book, Charm!, was also released as a real book.
*** And in-universe, Kendall's book described a perfume made by her AuthorAvatar. A fan requested it at a book signing, and Kendall and her team set about to making it.
* Just about anything that can be defictionalized from ''Franchise/StarTrek'' has been, to the point that it arguably helped mold the world you live in today, though the line between simple replica prop and actual functional item can be blurred a bit more so for some iconic devices than others.
** In ''How Creator/WilliamShatner Changed the World'', Motorola chief engineer and inventor of the cell phone [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Cooper_%28inventor%29 Martin Cooper]] states that he invented the cell phone because he wanted a real life Franchise/StarTrek communicator.
*** Plus there's a [[http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/usb-gadgets/bd48/ licensed communicator replica]] that actually works as a VOIP phone.
*** Also, hackers have created and circulated [[https://makezine.com/2009/11/02/star-trek-bluetooth-communicator/ plans to turn a toy communicator into a working bluetooth phone]].
** Another example is the Klingon Bat'leth; a number of functional (read: ''deadly'') replica swords have been fashioned by amateurs and production companies. A replica Bat'leth was even famously turned in during the UK's many ''Knife'' amnesties.
** The Klingon language; it is an actual, legitimate constructed language, to the point where Oregon actually solicited Klingon interpreters for psychiatric hospital patients ([[CrazyPrepared for use in the unlikely event of a patient who insisted on speaking only in that language.]]). Also, a single quip about "enjoying ''Theatre/{{Hamlet}}'' in its 'original' Klingon" in the sixth ''Film/{{Star Trek|VI The Undiscovered Country}}'' movie resulted in ''Theatre/{{Hamlet}}'', along with many of Shakespeare's other works, being translated into Klingon. Also, [[http://klv.mrklingon.org/ the Bible]] has been translated into Klingon, and in some places you can get married by a minister in full Klingon regalia with the vows delivered in Klingon.
** And for more Klingon fun, they've defictionalized the paq'batlh, or "Book of Honor", the epic tale of Kahless the Unforgettable.
** 3D-chess boards, played by characters in some of the ''Franchise/StarTrek'' series, are another item. An actual set of rules was created to make the game playable.
** You can buy six-packs of Romulan Ale. At first glance, it appears to come in blue bottles. After you pour it out, you discover that the bottles are transparent: the ''ale itself'' is blue.
** Also, while there may not be a ''Starship'' Enterprise yet, NASA did build a Space Shuttle which was named ''Enterprise'' due to a petition campaign spearheaded by ''Trek'' fans, though it never actually flew in space (it was only used for in-atmosphere tests, so they didn't bother including engines or a reentry-capable heat shield). [[CelebrityParadox Weirdly]], ''Series/StarTrekEnterprise'' implies that the starship was named at least in part after the shuttle. This is all due to real-life circular appreciation. Originally, the titular starship was to be named ''Constitution'', after the famous and undefeated US sailing ship, but they changed the ship name to ''Enterprise'' (also a series of honored naval vessels) and left "Constitution" as the ship's class name. The prototype Shuttle Orbiter was also to be named ''Constitution'' before the show's fans petitioned for a strangely similar renaming.
** Virgin Galactic's first commercial spacecraft was named ''VSS Enterprise''. Trek fans everywhere cried--first in joy, then in sadness-- when the prototype suborbital spaceplane was destroyed on October 31, 2014 due to pilot error. The sister ship was to be called ''VSS [[Series/StarTrekVoyager Voyager]]'' but was renamed to ''Unity'' in 2016. Perhaps vessels with a MeaningfulName might have to live up to its real or fictional reputation to be entitled to wield it.
** This is actually an example of fictionalization and back again - the first ''Enterprise'' was the French ship ''L'Enterprise'', captured by the British and commissioned into the RN as HMS ''Enterprise'' way back in 1705. In the 1990s, the British named an ''Echo''-class survey ship ''Enterprise'', apparently inspired in part by the one in ''Franchise/StarTrek''.
** In the mid 1990s you could go out and buy yourself a functional [[http://www.stim.com/Stim-x/0996September/Sparky/tricorder.html tricorder]]. There was a clause in Creator/GeneRoddenberry's contract that anyone who could make a working Tricorder was allowed to call it that; a now defunct Canadian company produced the "TR-107 Tricorder Mark I." It was about the size of a huge novelty universal remote, was done up to look like a TNG tricorder and loaded with the appropriate sound effects, and could detect EM fields, barometric pressure, temperature, light values and color values.
*** An Android smartphone developer known as [[http://code.google.com/p/moonblink/wiki/Tricorder moonblink]] made a Tricorder app which used the phone's built-in GPS, microphone, wifi, and other functionality to actually scan for and detect magnetic fields, sound levels, and so on. All was well and fans had defictionalized tricorders, until [[http://www.geek.com/articles/mobile/cbs-demands-removal-of-moonblinks-android-tricorder-app-2011097/ CBS made them take the app down]].
*** Real tricorders are being [[http://dvice.com/archives/2012/03/this-is-a-real.php developed again.]]
** Creator/EddieIzzard has used a variant on this line in several of his shows; "Those doors from ''Franchise/StarTrek''? (He may, or may not, make the door-opening noise at this point) We've got them now!"
*** It's amazing how many people think the doors in the original 1960s show were real. In fact, they were worked by stage hands.
** "Far Beyond the Stars," a fictional 1950s scifi novel from the ''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'' episode of the same name, was actually written and released after the fact as part of Paramount's TieInNovel line.
** Laser enthusiast Trekkies have put [[http://hackaday.com/2010/01/15/phaser-to-laser-mod-puts-out-465mw/ burning laser diodes into toy phasers]].
** [=QuickTime=] video [[WordOfGod began]] with some Apple developers admiring the windowed full-motion video seen on displays in Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration, and deciding to recreate it in real life.
** The official ''Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration Technical Manual'' contained the assertion that thanks to the fluidity of the LCARS interface, a crewmember could theoretically fly the entire ship from a PADD (the little touchscreen gadgets everyone carried around) while walking down a corridor. [[http://cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/06/10/6829360-iphones-head-for-final-frontier There are now iPhones being customized for use on the International Space Station which include navigation software]]; theoretically astronauts could navigate the station through space with their iPhones.
*** And if they trade in the iPhones for iPads, Playbooks, Galaxy Tab, or some other tablet, they've now got a perfect real-life example of a PADD, right down to the size.
*** [[http://jefson.deviantart.com/?rnrd=220449 A German Trekker]] has made a Rainmeter skin that will turn your device into a semi-functional PADD in that, in addition to looking like a piece of Starfleet technology, it is a functional interface for using the device.
** 3D printer company [[http://makerbot.com MakerBot]] markets a line of printers called "Replicators."
** Scotty gave away the secret to creating "transparent aluminum" in ''Film/StarTrekIVTheVoyageHome.'' While we've long been able to create clear aluminum compounds that can act like, and are indeed much stronger and often lighter than glass, no material has yet lived up to Scotty's transparent aluminum. Guess [[http://phys.org/news167925273.html what Oxford University is working on]]!
** Star Trek: The Experience, in Las Vegas, featured a Quark's Bar prior to its closure.
** The theoretical [=FTL=] [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive Alcubierre warp drive]] was inspired at least in name by the warp drives used by the Trek ships.
* In a double-layer case: Al Yeganeh, the stern soup-making chef that inspired ''Series/{{Seinfeld}}'''s Soup Nazi, has packaged versions of his soup in stores under the "Original Soup Man" brand. So it's real soup, made fictional, and then defictionalized again. The tagline on the box is "Soup For You" -- an obvious callback to his fictional counterpart's belligerent "No soup for you!" CatchPhrase.
** Muffin tops are finally available for sale, in the frozen breakfast aisle. In fact, muffin top pans can be bought at many stores, and many bakeries also sell muffin tops as well.
** Aluminum poles to celebrate Festivus are available for sale as well (although selling them does seem to go against the spirit of the holiday).
* ''Sterling's Gold'', Roger Sterling's memoir from ''Series/MadMen'', was released as an actual book (although instead of a memoir, it contained quotes from the character).
* You can go into a real bookstore and purchase mystery novels "written" by J.B. Fletcher, Creator/AngelaLansbury's character from ''Series/MurderSheWrote''.
* Richard Castle's novels in the "Nikki Heat" series have been released (and made the ''New York Times'' bestseller list), along with a graphic novel "adaptation" of ''Deadly Storm''. He also has a [[http://www.richardcastle.net/ website]], [[http://twitter.com/#!/WriteRCastle Twitter feed]] and [[http://www.facebook.com/WriteRCastle Facebook account]]. The catch, of course, is that Richard Castle is the entirely fictional mystery-writer-turned-police-consultant on ''Series/{{Castle}}''. The production team are clearly having fun with it, having put on the website an entire bibliography for a fictional author consisting of over twenty books, of which only three or four are actually 'real'. The "Nikki Heat" books get special mention; they're written entirely in character, including dedications, acknowledgements, interviews with the author, 'About the Author' sections, and back-cover blurbs, with pictures of actor Creator/NathanFillion used to represent the fictional author he plays.
** They've also released three new Derrick Storm books which are set after ''Storm Fall'' (the book where Castle killed off Derrick). One of them is actually a crossover with Nikki Heat (called ''Heat Storm'' to fit with the the EpunymousTitle naming conventions used for both series).
** [[http://www.ew.com/article/2014/08/20/abc-castle-derrick-storm Plans are in place]] to adapt the Derrick Storm novel series as a TV series of its own, which takes the defictionalization to a whole new meta (defictionalizing a book that later gets adapted as its own fictional work on TV).
* You, too can own Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer[='=]s [[http://www.allmoviereplicas.com/Buffy-the-Vampire-Slayer-Slayers-Scythe-Replica-Factory-X.html scythe]]! It slices, it dices, it even makes Julienned Vampire (right before they dust). You can also buy a [[http://www.amazon.com/Buffy-Vampire-Slayer-Angel-21-Inch/dp/B000FS9GRK Puppet]] Series/{{Angel}} (or Spike). There's also a published ''Slayer's Handbook'', and Fred's stuffed toy rabbit. On a different side of things, Lorne headlines a Las Vegas show in one episode. This was done by having Lorne headline a show in Las Vegas, and filming it.
* Creator/StephenColbert:
** ''Tek Jansen'' has been made into a real comic by Creator/OniPress, an independent comic company. One can argue that the original prose novel which served as the first appearances of Tek Jensen (with an [[ArtEvolution outdated character design]] of Colbert photoshopped in a spacesuit) has not been released, so there is no true defictionalization yet.
** ''Series/TheColbertReport'' itself began as a series of [[RealTrailerFakeMovie fake trailers]] on ''Series/TheDailyShow''; they originally had no intention of actually making a spinoff. The trailers rip off ''Series/TheOReillyFactor'' even more than the actual show does. [[http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-june-15-2005/colbert---the-colbert-report---preview Jon was quite baffled.]]
-->''It was a vehicle where Stephen Colbert would basically, in a megalomaniacal way, bring his opinions to the fore of the issue of the day. It was very funny... quite a joke... Anyway, Comedy Central ended up buying the show.''
* ''Series/BreakingBad'':
** Creator/VinceGilligan was asked, "Is there really such a thing as Blue crystal meth?" He responded, "There is now."
** [[http://www.savewalterwhite.com/ SaveWalterWhite.com]] is an actual website. The donation button at the bottom of the page once linked to the National Cancer Coalition's website where visitors could donate to them, but the link was replaced with one to the official ''Breaking Bad'' website after the NCC was named one of the worst charities in America.
* ''Series/HowIMetYourMother'':
** The shows resident wacky guy/lech Barney proudly proclaimed that there was a written Bro Code, that all Bros must follow. An actual written version was released into book stores. Also available are "Bro on the Go" and "The Playbook".
** Pretty much every website that the show mentions [[LoggingOntoTheFourthWall has been set up before airing]] by the showrunners.
** Robin's music videos from her "Robin Sparkles" Canadian teen idol days were only seen in excerpts in the show, but are available in full online (and are awesomely bad) at Robin Sparkle's Website/MySpace [[http://www.myspace.com/robinsparkles page]].
** "[[http://www.tedmosbyisajerk.com Ted Mosby is a Jerk!]]", which includes a 22-minute song about how horrible Ted (actually, Barney using his name) was to the woman who made the webpage.
** [[http://www.barneysvideoresume.com/ Barney Stinson's Video Resume]] (sponsored by Barney's fictional employer Goliath National Bank), which is available in both "awesome" and "not-as-awesome" resolutions. They're not wrong. It's awesome!
** http://www.guyforceshiswifetodressinagarbagebagforthenextthreeyears.com, which is basically ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin. Along with being one of the longest of [[LongTitle Long URLs]].
** [[http://www.lilyandmarshallselltheirstuff.com Lily And Marshall Sell Their Stuff]] was a real-life charity auction of ''How I Met Your Mother'' swag. Sadly now defunct.
** [[http://www.canadiansexacts.org/ CanadianSexActs.Org]], which includes every single act mentioned in the show, complete with an age verification system, bilingual warnings from the Canadian government about content, and a disclaimer regarding "any possible physical or emotional trauma suffered as a result of undertaking any of the acts described". The links for each act are hilarious. [[spoiler:Every link is to a different picture of Alan Thicke (of ''Growing Pains'') captioned with a variety of "sorry, we're experiencing technical difficulties" explanations in exaggerated Canadian English]]
** There was a [[http://slapcountdown.org Slap Countdown]] too, counting down to the Slapsgiving episode, but honestly it was just a timer so it was pretty boring.
** [[http://www.itwasthebestnightever.com itwasthebestnightever.com]], which is ''hilarious''.
* ''Series/{{Lost}}'' has had a few examples:
** The novel ''Bad Twin'' is supposedly written by a passenger in the plane crash which occurred in the pilot episode. Remember the guy who got sucked into the airplane engine before it blew up? That's supposed to be him.
** Apollo Candy Bars were released in the real world.
** The show's fictitious band Geronimo Jackson had a single, "Dharma Lady", released on [=iTunes=].
** "You All Everybody" (the single that Drive Shaft, Charlie's band, wrote) and "Dharma Lady" have both been adopted into DLC for ''VideoGame/RockBand''.
** In a recent large multi-state lottery, over 26,000 players across the United States played Hurley's cursed winning lottery numbers, which while not winning the jackpot did match enough of the drawn digits [[http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2011/01/thank-you-hurley-lost-numbers-pay-off-as-winning-mega-millions-numbers.html to win them each $150.]] Jorge Garcia, who played Hurley, good-naturedly congratulated the winners on their "cursed" winnings [[http://furtherdispatches.wordpress.com/2011/01/05/will-you-people-ever-learn/ on his blog]].
* An episode of ''Series/LALaw'' introduced the world to a sexual technique called "The Venus Butterfly", which Stuart uses to great effect on his wife, Ann. Or [[InformedAbility at least that's what we're told, afterward]]. Not only is the act or actions [[TakeOurWordForIt never described or shown on screen]], the writers made the whole thing up (and didn't even have a specific sex act in mind when they wrote the script). Despite this, the show's writers were flooded with requests to describe the technique. Dr. Sue Johnson finally officially put moves to the name in a 2005 book. (Google it, if you must know what it entails).
* ''Series/{{UFO}}''. Funds were raised for "The Explorer Motor Company'' to produce a real-life version of the [[CoolCar futuristic, gull-winged car]] driven by Commander Straker in this British sci-fi series. A plastic mold of the vehicle was made (to be called "Quest"), but the company never got off the ground.
* ''Series/BattlestarGalactica2003'' makes much use of the [[PardonMyKlingon fictional swear-word]] "frak", so the set designers gave Adama an actual IKEA [[http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/38006200 FRÄCK]] to use for shaving.
* ''Series/LateNightWithConanOBrien'': In an example of a JustifiedTrope, one of Conan's skits at one point featured a guy watching a "webcam manatee". Riffing a bit at the end, he joked that the man was at http://hornymanatee.com, unaware that he had just forced NBC to buy that domain name (to avoid some random person buying the site and putting on offensive material). Making the most of things, Conan's staff decided to actually put content on the webpage, and made it into an example of ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin. Since Conan got ScrewedByTheNetwork, the URL now redirects to NBC.com.
* You can now buy ''Series/GreysAnatomy'' inspired scrubs in hospital uniform stores. They're ridiculously soft, too.
* The University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro opened in Plainsboro Township, NJ, in 2012--the ''final'' year that ''Series/{{House}}'', set at "Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital" (presumably also supposedly located in Plainsboro and affiliated with [[IvyLeagueForEveryone Princeton University]]), was on the air.
* The Australian sketch show ''Series/FullFrontal'' did a sketch in the early 1990s for an engine lubricant called [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGMUGjlV5HU Start You Bastard]]. Automotive supplier Nulon later picked up that ball and [[http://www.nulon.com.au/products/Aerosols/Start_Ya_Bastard_Instant_Engine_Starter ran with it]].
* Kids' TV show ''Series/{{Teletubbies}}'' was so popular in the UK it prompted real life versions of the characters' {{trademark favorite food}}s: Tubby Custard and Tubby Toast.
** Tubby Custard was available in the U.S. as well as part of a Burger King promotion for the show. It was pretty much just vanilla pudding with pink food coloring.
* The ''Series/SavedByTheBell'' diner "The Max" has been defictionalized in Chicago.
* Copies of the outlaw tags worn by the main characters in the BBC's version of ''Series/RobinHood'' were marketed. Since they served no practical purpose on the show, one suspects that this was the only reason why they were included at all.\\
\\
In the first season, they provided a plot point when Little John was captured and were rarely mentioned otherwise. In one of the earliest episodes of the second season, a bunch of kids help the gang, and are honored with tags... just like you can be, too! The tags came out between season one and two.
* Fans of ''Series/TrueBlood'' can now enjoy [[http://www.trubeverage.com/ the eponymous drink]]. Well, okay, it's not quite the blood substitute advertised in the show, but it has the same packaging. The drink is manufactured by [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omni_Consumer_Products_(company) Omni Consumer Products]], a company that makes Defictionalization their business.
* Fans of ''Series/{{Life On Mars|2006}}'' and ''Series/AshesToAshes2008'' can buy two police handbooks supposedly written by Gene Hunt, in which he explains what being a copper is ''really'' all about.
* Satirised in an episode of ''Series/TheDailyShow''. John Oliver announced that scientists were working on ComicBook/IronMan armor and using genetics to turn lizards into dragons.
** There ARE companies making powered exoskeletons in real life. The two leading models are Raytheon Sarcos' XOS, which deliberately played up the Film/IronMan connection by holding a press conference about the XOS-2 on the day ''Film/IronMan2'' was released to DVD, with a member of the movie's cast present, and Lockheed Martin's HULC. So far, they have been made with intent of aiding with heavy lifting, not direct combat, and cannot fly.
* The ''Series/{{Bones}}'' episode "The Gamer in the Grease" had the fictional retro arcade game ''Punky Pong'', which [[http://www.fox.com/bones/features/game/ actually exists]] on Fox's website.
* ''Series/TheAmandaShow'': "I have my own Amanda website you know, [[http://www.Amandaplease.com www dot amanda please dot com]]"
* ''Series/DoctorWho'':
** Fans can buy a genuine (albeit smaller) ''Journal of Impossible Things'' (from [[Recap/DoctorWhoS29E8HumanNature "Human Nature"]]/[[Recap/DoctorWhoS29E9TheFamilyOfBlood "The Family of Blood"]]) with a whopping 78 pages of writings and illustrations (we only got to see a few of them in the show proper).
** In a reverse-defictionalization, the TARDIS key props used in the 1996 ''Series/DoctorWho'' TV Movie were licensed replicas of the classic series' TARDIS key in production at the time, which the production team bought from an American scifi memorabilia catalog.
** There was an [[http://www.petitiononline.com/Drwh2012/petition.html online petition]] to let Creator/DavidTennant light the Olympic cauldron for the 2012 Olympics as he did in the episode [[Recap/DoctorWhoS28E11FearHer "Fear Her"]]. In the end, he was not involved. However, it did partially become true, with [[TheNthDoctor Tennant's successor]], Creator/MattSmith, [[https://web.archive.org/web/20120628193039/http://www.metro.co.uk/olympics/900154-matt-smith-set-to-carry-olympic-torch-in-echo-of-doctor-who-plot carrying the torch]] through Cardiff, where ''Doctor Who'' is filmed.
** In [[Recap/DoctorWhoS29E10Blink "Blink"]], a character mentions having a T-shirt that says "The Angels have the phone box". Online retailers such as [=ThinkGeek=], Zazzle, and [=CafePress=] soon began selling versions of the T-shirt.
** The TARDIS prop itself is a convoluted example. Originally, the TARDIS design was meant to mirror the [=MacKenzie=]-Trench Police Call Box of 1923, which by the early '60s was a common sight on London streets. However, with the advent of communications technology, police boxes became less and less common, the last (save a few left standing either from historic preservation or through apathy) being dismantled by the late '80s. By that time, people who had never seen the [=MacKenzie=]-Trench Police Call Box only knew the blue box as the TARDIS, and by the 21st Century, a British court had taken the trademark rights for the box away from the Metropolitan Police and awarded them to the BBC, who were actually doing something with it. Both they, and many, MANY, determined fans, have built many [=TARDISes=], real in all ways save the understandable lack of being "bigger on the inside," and even a British newspaper heralded the decision of a British town to sell its remaining police box with a headline announcing you too could own your very own TARDIS.\\\
There have been (and probably still are) "speakeasies" in New York City that use a TARDIS replica as the entrance from a small storefront to a much larger back room where liquor is served. Semi-defictionalizing the "larger inside" aspect. For one example, [[http://doctorwho.tumblr.com/post/4447086647/getinthetardisweasley-me-in-the-tardis-at-the The Way Station bar in New York]] has designed the blue police box as the entrance to their restroom. It really is bigger on the inside, though still as cramped as a typical pub loo.
** ''[[http://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Who-Angels-Kiss-ebook/dp/B009KJ6DTO The Angel's Kiss]]'', the book the Doctor, Amy, and Rory were reading in [[Recap/DoctorWhoS33E5TheAngelsTakeManhattan "The Angels Take Manhattan"]], has been written as an ebook for the Kindle. Though it's not exactly the book from the episode -- it reads more like a prequel.
** Also available as an ebook is ''[[http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BGC6GG8/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00BGC6GG8&linkCode=as2&tag=cosboonew-20 Summer Falls]]'', a novel published in the 1950s, written by Amelia Williams, and briefly mentioned in "The Bells of Saint John". Clara thought [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall Chapter 11 was the best part of the book,]] saying, "You'll cry your eyes out. The good kind of crying."
** The website ''thinkgeek.com'' frequently features a number of defictionalized ''Series/DoctorWho'' items, including the Fourth Doctor's scarf and the Master's pocket watch from "Utopia".
** And of course, there are many Sonic Screwdrivers that fans can buy. One of them even can act as your TV remote!
* The Bull & Finch Pub, the real Boston pub that inspired ''Series/{{Cheers}}'', was renamed to Cheers and references the show prominently in its marketing. A replica bar opened in 2001 in Faneuil Hall that closed in August 2020. There was also a chain of airport bars.
** Also, the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBazaWO03Fo "Screaming Viking"]] is now a [[http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink1819.html real drink.]]
* In 2003, ''Series/ChappellesShow'' had a sketch that parodied the Discovery Channel show "Trading Spaces". The sketch was called "[[http://www.metacafe.com/watch/329599/dave_chapelle_trading_spouses/ Trading Spouses]]" and it was about two families, one white, one black, who appear on a reality TV show in which they exchange husbands for a month. (Both husbands were played by Dave Chapelle.) Three years later, by what they insist is pure coincidence, Fox Network released ''an actual show'' called ''Trading Spouses'' with basically the same premise, except that the wives switch instead of husbands. (It came out a few months before the more successful [[DuelingShows ABC equivalent]] ''Series/WifeSwap'', but a whole year after the original British version.)
* [[BlandNameProduct "Mocny Full"]] beer from the Polish sitcom ''Swiat Wedlug Kiepskich'' was at one point defictionalized but it was discontinued due to copyright infringement -- the company had no rights for the mark and its logo.
* The producers of ''Series/{{Fringe}}'' defictionalized the 70s psychedelic rock album Seven Suns by Violet Sedan Chair (an anagram of [[spoiler:Olive Can Read This]]) that appears in an episode of season 3. Some people have even worked to integrate various computer AI/bots into them, though naturally none is anywhere close to what was seen on the show.
* For the long running comedy ''Series/TheOfficeUS'', novelty items branded with the name and logo of fictional paper company ''Dunder Mifflin'' have been available for years, however in 2011 Staples announced it would begin to sell actual Dunder Mifflin branded paper products in its stores (which is rather ironic, considering that on the show, Staples was Dunder Mifflin's biggest competitor).

* In ''VideoGame/{{A3}}'', the website of the Mankai Company was noted to be quite the design-mess, with rainbows and lazy editing by the wharf. As from November 8, 2019, [[https://mankai-company.jp/ the actual domain name]] is registered, and the site is just like it's described in the game. This is to such an extent that the term 'Kazunari Miyoshi' [[note]] the character who reformed the web page into a decent-looking, modern homepage [[/note]] became trending topic on Twitter in Japan.

** While not comercially available, WebVideo/ForgottenWeapons did an april fools joke featuring a working replica Type 93 "Chinese Assault Rifle" from ''Fallout 3.'' Natually, the entire thing was presenting the fictional history of the rifle in character as a wastelander within the Fallout world.
* ''VideoGame/GodOfWarPS4'': ''God of War: Lore and Legends'' is a recreation of Atreus' diary, which was the LoreCodex of the game and provided information about missions, enemies, and lore markers from Atreus' perspective. It also has additional illustrations and expanded information about events from both before and after the events of the story made in collaboration with the video game's writing team, told from Atreus' point of view.
* [[MemeticMutation Sheng Long]], the character EGM cooked up for its infamous ''VideoGame/StreetFighterII'' April Fool's gag in 1992 and whose name was based on a mistranslation of Ryu's win quote, [[AscendedMeme became a reality in 2008]], when Capcom announced that Gouken (the legendary master of Ryu and Ken and the brother of Akuma) would be a hidden character in ''VideoGame/StreetFighterIV'', and later a member of the ''Super Street Fighter IV'' roster since the very start. What makes this even better? Gouken resembles the original Sheng Long images EGM made for the gag '''and''' (in one way or another) ''has every move that EGM listed Sheng Long as having.''
* For the Japanese release of ''[[VideoGame/EarthBound1994 MOTHER 2]]'' (and later the ''VideoGame/{{MOTHER 3}}'' Deluxe Box), a promotional item based on the Franklin Badge was made. ** [[CordonBleughChef Someone]] [[http://earthboundcentral.com/2010/03/shigesato-itoi-tries-strawberry-tofu/ actually made strawberry tofu]] and Creator/ShigesatoItoi tried it. He wasn't fond of the end result.

** Flipline Studios announced in 2014 that they were building a real-life Papa's Taco Mia!, like the one in their 2011 game. Later it was revealed that [[spoiler:it was an April Fools' joke]].
* ''VideoGame/{{Pikmin}}'': In order to promote the games, Nintendo sold flowers that were selectively bred to resemble the titular Pikmin. The flowers were based on a species called ''[[https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaenostoma_cordatum Chaenostoma cordatum]]''.
* ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' games since ''Melee'' have featured [[GottaCatchEmAll trophy collecting]]. Now, those trophies have come to reality in the form of "Toys/{{amiibo}}" figures based on the cast of the Wii U and 3DS games, which can be used to interact with ''Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS''.
* One game in the ''Franchise/DotHack'' series, ''.hack//Fragment'', is an online-multiplayer version of the original games. This, in essence, turned the series's fictional MMO, ''The World'', into a real-world MMO.
* A few Japanese online shops sell drinkable potions from the ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' series. No guarantee it will actually [[HyperactiveMetabolism heal bodily damage]], though.
** The ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'' edition actually worked as a fairly decent energy drink during conventions. There are tales though of the legendary medicine taste of the ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXII'' edition still floating around the internet. The ''VideoGame/{{Dissidia|Final Fantasy}}'' version tastes like flat Dr Pepper ([[MemeticMutation 23]]!) with a strong aftertaste of persimmon.
** Thinkgeek sells both [[http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/drinks/b472/ health]] and [[http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/drinks/a273/ mana]] potions.

Since the program includes a function that lets the user choose a name for Cortana to call them, quite a few ''Halo'' fans have gone the extra mile and set it up so that Cortana calls them "Master Chief". She also has several unique responses if she's being asked [[EasterEgg "Where's Master Chief?"]].
* Apparently, Creator/BioWare rejected a proposal to include Commander Shepard's pistol in the collector's edition of ''VideoGame/MassEffect2''.
** The in-world xenophilia porn magazine ''Fornax'' can actually be found on various hentai sites around the internet now. RuleThirtyFour in action, folks.
** Inverted with the N7 hoodie, a real-life outfit based on Shepard's armor, which is available for Shepard him/herself in the Collector's Edition of ''VideoGame/MassEffect3''.

** In ''VideoGame/DragonAgeII'', Varric becomes well-known as the author of the popular crime novel ''Hard in Hightown''. It also gets mentioned (along with some of his other stories) in ''VideoGame/DragonAgeInquisition,'' where it can be found as a series of codex entries. Mary Kirby, Varric's writer, released the codex entries, with expanded scenes and illustrations, in summer 2018. According to the cover, [[CloudCuckoolander Merrill]] has even reviewed it already:
--->"So many people get shivved!"
*** Mary Kirby has also arranged for copies of the book to be "autographed" by Varric, addressing the recipient by a unique nickname, which reflects Varric's in-universe role as TheNicknamer. Some of these went to her fellow Bioware employees, including Patrick and Karin Weekes, who shared images of their autographs on Website/{{Twitter}}; at least one went to a ''Dragon Age'' [[Fanfic/TwiceUponAnAge fan fiction]] author.

* Japanese airsoft company Tokyo Marui (which is partnered with ''Creator/{{Capcom}}'' themselves) has released several Airsoft copies of guns seen in the ''Franchise/ResidentEvil'' series, including both versions of the "Samurai Edge" Beretta 92 and Leon's Desert Eagle.
* The "{{Feelies}}" included in Creator/{{Infocom}}'s InteractiveFiction were often replicas of items found in the games themselves, such as a glow-in-the-dark wishing stone, or a Lucky Palm Tree Swizzle Stick. [[http://feelies.org Feelies.org]] custom-makes these for more recent IF amateur releases.
* You can also buy generic [[http://www.manapotions.com/ mana potions]], and yes, these are energy drinks. They're not asking gold pieces for it, though. (But they seem to be a bit cheaper at [[http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/drinks/a273/?cpg=ab ThinkGeek]] anyway.)
* In South Korea, Kwangdong Pharmaceutical sells HP and MP drinks.
* CCP, makers of ''VideoGame/EveOnline'', used to sell Quafe soft drinks.
* Valve video games have a tendency to inspire fanatical demands for related merchandise. After ''VideoGame/HalfLife2'' and ''VideoGame/{{Portal}}'', there was a huge outcry for Valve to produce Headcrab Hats and plushie Companion Cubes, respectively, which they did. They also have the movie posters from ''VideoGame/Left4Dead'', as well as mugs and bumper stickers one might expect to find in the possession of a scientist working at [[VideoGame/HalfLife1 Black Mesa]] or [[VideoGame/{{Portal}} Aperture Labs]].
** ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'' merchandise includes Plushie Stickybombs, recreations of the Mann Co and RED Team Ellis Caps, the Sandvich poster seen in Meet the Sandvich and BONK! shirts that parody the common Mountain Dew/Coca Cola shirt. And now they have a fully-mobile Level 1 Sentry prop in their building though they (thankfully) don't have enough metal to reload or upgrade it.
** DummiedOut content for ''VideoGame/Portal2'' co-op involves a ''ComicStrip/{{Garfield}}''-like comic strip called ''Dorfeldt''. The changes to the strip [=GLaDOS=] mentions were made into ''Webcomic/SquareRootOfMinusGarfield'' [[http://www.mezzacotta.net/garfield/?comic=1659 #1659]].
* ''VideoGame/Borderlands2'': Project Triforce are now selling replicas of Miss Moxie's Bad Touch as well as a New York Comic Con production of replicas of the Good Touch.
** ''Bunkers and Badasses'' was a ''[=DnD=]'' parallel from the DLC ''Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep.'' Gearbox has teamed up with Nerdvana to release a real life ''[=BnB=]'' sourcebook.
* [[http://digibutter.nerr.biz Digibutter.nerr]], the forum to which Francis the nerd chameleon in ''VideoGame/SuperPaperMario'' subscribed, is now a real forum about the ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' games. As with many examples, it is unofficial.
* Fan-made ''VideoGame/TheWorldEndsWithYou'' pins are available if you look for them. ** There even exists replicas of the Evoker carried by SEES members. If you're willing to splurge, there's also an officially made one too. (It's a water gun!)
* ''VideoGame/MegaMan9'' - Creator/{{Capcom}} of [[NoExportForYou Japan]] has released an official [[EmergencyEnergyTank E-tank]] energy drink. [[http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/15/a-sports-drink-for-hard-working-robots/ See this article.]]
** There are also toy [[VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork PETs]], one of [=MegaMan.EXE=] and one of [=ProtoMan.EXE=], as well as [[VideoGame/MegaManStarForce Transers]], one for each of the first games.
* Back on March 31, 2014, Creator/{{Capcom}} announced [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ELkbqaShVVg/UzoKFeUsEsI/AAAAAAAARa8/yF_R0SOqXL0/s1600/84bf50cc.jpg a 4/1 scale model kit of]] VideoGame/MegaManX in a really badass [[http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-98ZBQooevww/UzoLbAjiorI/AAAAAAAARbI/KIDelUxjcow/s1600/c2d7ef47.jpg high-tech redesign by Mizuno Keisuke known as "Rockman X Ver. But on January 21, 2015, a toy company called [=TruForce=] Collectibles went to Website/{{Kickstarter}} to launch [[https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/290865613/truforce-collectibles-mega-man-x-action-figure a campaign for a legit, officially-licensed action figure]] based on the exact same design Capcom used; it was successfully funded.
* Pyoro from the ''VideoGame/WarioWare'' series was always a mini game, but now with the UsefulNotes/DSi and UsefulNotes/DSiWare, the game has been released standalone as a downloadable purchase from said channel (and yes, it counts because in story, the game was the one that actually inspired Wario to start the [=WarioWare=] Inc. company in the first game).
* ''Literature/FateStrangeFake'' was originally a [[RealTrailerFakeMovie gag blurb]] in a magazine. But a year later, the game is actually being made.
* ''VideoGame/EatLeadTheReturnOfMattHazard'' is the latest game in the storied history of the title character (who is also an AnimatedActor). But there are no previous games... or at least, there weren't. One of his "previous" games is reportedly being re-released on Xbox Live and UsefulNotes/PlayStationNetwork.
* ''VideoGame/MetalGearGhostBabel'', the ''VideoGame/MetalGear'' game for the UsefulNotes/GameBoyColor, featured a bonus story called "Idea Spy 2.5," which is presented as [[ShowWithinAShow audio drama]] that is played on the Codec. It was adapted into a real audio drama starring Creator/HideoKojima in the title role and Yumi Kikuchi as his "special friend," Call Now. The song "Oishii Two-Han Seikatsu" that is on Snake's [=iPod=] in ''VideoGame/{{Metal Gear Solid 4|GunsOfThePatriots}}'' is actually supposed to be Call Now's ImageSong, although that was mostly lost on Western players who hadn't been able to listen to the {{radio drama}} (or if they were North American, likely didn't know it existed).
** Special edition copies of ''[[VideoGame/MetalGearSolidVThePhantomPain The Phantom Pain]]'' came with a replica of Snake's bionic arm. Unfortunately, only the Japanese version is scaled to real life.

** The red, blue and green potions sell at Fry's Electronics. The guitar used in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Majora's Mask]]'' exists, and works. It's called the Zoraxe. They didn't make that many, if more than one, and you'll probably pay more than you did for your house.
** [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Hylian]] [[http://www.kasuto.net/language.php?main=language/language.html exists as a full-fledged language]].
** Link's scarf from ''VideoGame/HyruleWarriors'' was made as a pre-order bonus in Japan, Europe, and the Nintendo World store in New York. Level Up Studios also has one, produced by Ruffneck Scarves.

** Also the handmade Big Daddy dolls held by the Little Sisters.
* A rather unusual case with ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing'', which defictionalized an ''NPC''. Stitches, a lazy patchwork teddy bear, was made into a... [[http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Crossing-World-Stitches-Plush/dp/B002DMPUWG/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1276609938&sr=8-7 guess what?]]

* The VideoGame/NintendoWorldChampionships are a real-life version of the game tournament from ''Film/TheWizard''. The revival 2015 and 2017 tournaments makes the connection especially strong, with both events featuring as their climax a sneak preview of a then-upcoming, heavily anticipated game in the ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' series (''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3'' in ''The Wizard'', ''VideoGame/SuperMarioMaker'' in 2015, and ''VideoGame/SuperMarioOdyssey'' in 2017).

* If you need an impossibly impractical (but awesome) weapon to take into battle, there are now ''VideoGame/GearsOfWar''-style Chainsaw bayonets, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ljd_hUxCfI as seen here.]]
* There are several fan groups selling ''Franchise/TouhouProject'' items. One group went a bit further and is now selling Suika Ibuki-branded sake, in a replica of her trademark gourd. [[http://waifu.jp/?mode=f1 Here's the page]] -- photos of the bottle are about 2/3 way down.
** You can also buy Hecatia Lapislazuli's [[https://www.redbubble.com/shop/p/30043782.FB110.cluey-kookaburra?grid_pos=3&rbs=a0f459c3-ea34-4f0a-b260-a2a661c167da&ref=shop_grid infamous t-shirt]], in both men's and women's.
* Some food from ''VideoGame/RuneScape'', such as "crunchies" and "battas," were sold as real food during [=RuneFest=], a fan event organized by Jagex.
* Many of the food in ''VideoGame/NancyDrew'' games are real items - such as sundaes, shave ice, fruit salads, breakfast plates, but plenty of fans have taken to themselves to try and replicate the recipes in real life - such as [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCl0sOcyu_3IfZXilBPSuopg/videos this]] channel on Youtube which would give instructions on how to do it.
* You can buy pendant versions of [[VideoGame/TalesOfVesperia Yuri and Flynn's]] blastia as well as [[VideoGame/TalesOfSymphonia Zelos Wilder's]] Cruxius Crystal, as seen [[http://lunawings.tumblr.com/post/50650243988/ladyusada-tales-of-festival-2013-accessories here.]]

* The central building of "The Shard" in ''VideoGame/MirrorsEdge'' is slightly similar in design and exactly the same in name to "The Shard" that now stands in the middle of London.
* Every over the top element from the American cover of the original ''VideoGame/StreetsOfRage'' was implemented in the ambitious fan remake -- from the hockey mask wearing, machine gun wielding mook on up to the sniper in the second story window.
* ''VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends'': Ever want to hear Pentakill's music? Now you can with their album, Smite and Ignite.
** Blitzcrank, the Great Steam Golem, runs a dating agency in-universe known as Blitzcrank's Fleshing Compatibility Service. [[http://euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/page/find-your-match A simplified version is available on the game's website.]] (It's a good thing it was simplified, because apparently the original version used a 748-entry questionnaire and full thermal body scanning. It was still deemed worth it in-universe to avoid hooking up with a psychotic necromancer, which in Valoran is a very real possibility.)
* [[https://twitter.com/gilkenan/status/626252739631124480 Full-fledged walking, talking animatronics were constructed]] by the Creator/JimHensonsCreatureShop for the ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'' film.
** In addition, Sanshee.com has released real versions of the plushies that first appeared in the iOS port of the first game, then went on to appear in the sequels. So far, [[http://sanshee.com/collections/five-nights-at-freddys/products/fnaf-foxy-plush Foxy,]] [[http://sanshee.com/products/fnaf-freddy-plush Freddy]] and [[http://sanshee.com/collections/five-nights-at-freddys/products/fnaf-bonnie-plush Bonnie]] have been made, with Chica, Golden Freddy and "[[Videogame/FiveNightsAtFreddys4 Possessed Fredbear]]" not far behind.
** In ''VideoGame/UltimateCustomNight'', Toy Freddy is shown to be playing a GameWithinAGame, called "Five Nights with Mr. Hugs", with him jumpscaring you if you won't help him beat it. Fans eventually made the game he played into a full-fledged fangame, called ''VideoGame/FiveNightsWithMrHugsAndFriends''.
* ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'':
** Several apps for Apple's [=iOS=] devices turn it into a functional Pokédex, and do just about everything but talk. And in fact, even that problem was removed when Wolfram Alpha, an information search engine used by the [=iOS=]'s Siri, added in Pokédex data to its database. So you can indeed ask Siri how tall Xerneas is, and get an answer.
*** Two official versions were released by Nintendo for the 3DS: the original Pokédex 3D (Unova Dex), and the Pokédex 3D Pro (all 649 at the time).
** Every version of the Pokédex has been made into a real life plastic toy with a digital screen in both Japan and the West; capable of displaying its respective region's Pokémon along with key attributes. The Pokédex for ''VideoGame/PokemonUltraSunAndUltraMoon'' can actually be used with the game. Not only that, but [[VideoGame/PokemonSwordAndShield Rotom Phone]] and [[VideoGame/PokemonLegendsArceus Arc Phone]] cases exist for [=iOS=] and one could essentially convert their real phone into either of those.
** Additionally, toys of the [[VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver Pokégear]], [[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire PokéNav]], and [[VideoGame/PokemonDiamondAndPearl Pokétch]] have been in Japan.
** A pterosaur discovered in 2013 was named ''Aerodactylus'' after the pterosaur Pokémon Aerodactyl. It helps that Aerodactyl's name follows the scientific naming scheme and means "wind finger" in Latin.
** Similarly, a dicynodont (small, squat quadruped that looks like a mix between a mammal and a reptile) was discovered in 2017 that was named ''Bulbasaurus''. While it's a subversion because it actually ''wasn't'' named after Bulbasaur (it was actually named because it has a bulbous nose), it ''does'' look an awful lot like the little grass-type and one of its describers even admitted that "similarities between this species and certain other squat, tusked quadrupeds may not be entirely coincidental." For bonus points, its species name, ''phylloxyron'', translates to "leaf razor"--similar to "Razor Leaf", a move in the games--though again, the similarities are ''claimed'' to be mostly coincidental[[note]]apparently, it's because the animal would've cut leaves with its beak. ''Allegedly''.[[/note]]
** In a sense, ''VideoGame/PokemonGo'' is a defictionalization of the entire Pokémon world. Several people have reported finding entire groups of people playing ''Go'' together and socializing, remarking that it felt exactly like being on a route in one of the main series games.
** The Mega Ring from ''VideoGame/PokemonXAndY'' and the Z-Ring from ''VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon'' were made into real devices when the games first released. The latter could activate Z-Moves in the games with the press of a button.
** A real version of the bag that Lillie uses has [[https://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-Center-Original-Lillie-Drum/dp/B01N523HZ6/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1480198929&sr=1-2&keywords=pokemon+center&linkCode=sl1&tag=radchisretgam-20&linkId=6ad48d6d215f066cfff3e45c4f68e673 also been made available online.]]
** The Squirt Bottle, the item that awakens Sudowoodo in ''VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver'', [[https://meccha-japan.com/en/cosiness/29235-watering-can-squirtle.html exists]].
* ''VideoGame/{{Terraria}}'' 1.3 features the new yo-yo class of weapons with many of them being counterparts of real yo-yos produced by One Drop with their icon in the tooltip, this includes the [[InfinityPlusOneSword Terrarian]]. One Drop later produced the Terrarian in various colors mimicking the various biomes.
* The ''VideoGame/UltimaIV'' intro features Tarot cards based on the eight virtues. The ''VideoGame/UltimaIX'' Dragon Edition includes physical Tarot cards based on the eight virtues.
* A number of ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' fans have tried to reproduce the [[HyperactiveMetabolism many healing foods]] found in the game, from Toriel's butterscotch-cinnamon pie to the Glamburgers and Starfaits served at the MTT Burger Emporium.
** In the epilogue of the game, Mettaton mentions making buttons, posters and shirts with his face on them. Then he says making Toriel plushes. [[http://www.fangamer.com/products/undertale-toriel-plush Guess what happened...]] [[spoiler:Unfortunately, they don't have Mettaton's face on them like he said.]]
* To mark the release of ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiPaperJam'' Nintendo released papercraft figures of Mario, Luigi, and a Goomba as seen in the game.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dr7RjsqwiCo In this video,]] [[Franchise/{{Kirby}} Masked Dedede's]] mask and hammer are brought to life.
* ''Franchise/{{Splatoon}}'':
** The Splattershot exists in real life. They shoot water rather than ink, but they're basically glorified water guns anyway.
** [[IdolSinger The idols of each game]] have all performed live concerts using a similar projection technique to [[Music/{{Vocaloid}} Hatsune Miku]] and Music/{{Gorillaz}}.
* ''VideoGame/CyberdimensionNeptunia4GoddessesOnline'' is based on the in-universe MMORPG ''4 Goddesses Online'', and is most likely the closest we'll ever get to a RealLife equivalent. The game's story has the characters being recruited as beta testers, so you're playing the characters playing the game.
* ''VideoGame/GhostbustersTheVideoGame'': Ever since the game came out in 2009, a few enterprising fans have figured out various ways of making their Proton Pack replicas actually do the things which the packs in the game do (pop a slime canister out of the top of the pack, eject the "fuel rods" when the pack shuts down, etc.). Granted, [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome the effects aren't as exaggerated as they are in the game]], but it's still quite impressive.
* ''VideoGame/SaintsRowTheThird'' features the [[GagPenis Penetrator dildo bat]], a meter-long purple latex dildo with a hard wooden staff for its core and a sword-like hilt. Epic Weapons picked this up. It became one of their most popular items, thanks in large part to its frequent appearances as a prop on the Website/YouTube series ''The WebVideo/{{Jimquisition}}''.
* ''VideoGame/{{Polybius}}'' is an internet urban legend of an early 80s arcade game that is tied to rumors of government mind control, Satanic possession, and forced suicide. Various indie developers have made games based on ''Polybius'', including elements of its gameplay descriptions (but without the mind control, possession, or suicides).

* From ''VideoGame/FarCry5'', a real version of the Book of Joseph, a book containing the teachings of Joseph Seed and frequently brandished by him, was created by Ubisoft and distributed in very rare quantities to people who attended an event to promote the game. It can be read [[https://octo-chan.tumblr.com/post/172919454543/seed-family-lore-masterlist here]].
* ''VideoGame/{{Overwatch}}'' hero Lúcio is FamedInStory as a musician and has some merchandice, including a breakfast cereal called "Lúcio-oh's". [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCjhAQxfXV0 It is now a real food. Vanilla flavored.]] The cereal also promotes a download of [[https://luciomusic.com/ "Synaesthesia Auditiva"]], Lúcio's debut album.
* There is a ''TabletopGame/Warhammer40000'' FanGame called ''VideoGame/ChapterMaster'' that began as a hoax perpetrated by trolls on ''Website/FourChan''. When it was discovered that the game didn't actually exist, some people decided to get together and make it real.
* Plush Mishy toys are thing within Erebonia in the ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesTrailsOfColdSteel'' games. If you purchased the "Thors Academy Edition" of ''The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steeel III'', then now you have one too.
* In ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure'', there's ads across Station Square and various zones attached to it about a movie called "Chao in Space" with ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure2'' giving us the sequel "Chao in Space 2". In 2019 for Christmas, Sega [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69zTLvF8ajc released a short]] revealing what the movie was about.
* ''VideoGame/BendyAndTheInkMachine'' is a horror game surrounding a studio which created in-universe cartoons with the title character, but some of these cartoons have been turned into [[https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5adzFCvE4-9WlPnpbBS1qGawdPA2v-z3 real animated shorts]], all of which are family-friendly and can be enjoyed without knowing the game's context. The "Illusion of Life" quest item from Chapter 1 has also become a real-life novel.

* The [=M41A=] Pulse Rifle from ''Franchise/{{Alien}}'' is [[http://avp.wikia.com/wiki/MAX-41A defictionalized by Lage under the name of MAX-41A]]. It's a combination of a submachine gun and a short barreled shotgun. Alas, even if one were willing to go through the legal hassles to own one, the weapon is a concept gun and Lage has no plans to create any sort of models for production.
* ''Film/TheWorldsEnd''. A tour [[https://www.heyuguys.com/the-worlds-end-a-personal-guide-to-the-golden-mile/ offers to do The Crawl]] with the pubs that were actually used in the film in Hertfordshire - although only 8 are pubs, with four others being refurbished buildings.
* This happens InUniverse in the silent film ''Film/ExitSmiling''. Violet is a bit player in a traveling theater troupe. The troupe performs a single play, a crappy {{Melodrama}} in which the heroine has to pretend to be TheVamp in order to delay the bad guy an hour and save her lover. When Violet finds herself needing to delay the bad guy, so that she can get the man she loves cleared of embezzlement charges, she decides to enact the plot of the play in RealLife, including dressing up in the vamp's costume.
* The creation of an entire line of Wonka-branded candies wasn't just a tie-in to the 1971 film ''Film/WillyWonkaAndTheChocolateFactory''. In fact, the film was designed ''specifically'' to market Wonka-brand chocolates. It was funded by Quaker Oats, who had planned to make a grand entry into the candy business. Many of the signature chocolate bars from the film ([[Literature/CharlieAndTheChocolateFactory and earlier book]]), such as "Chocolate Scrumdiddilyumptious Bars", were recreated as genuine products. Unfortunately, the formula they used caused the bars to melt on the shelves, and they had to be withdrawn from sale. However, harder sugar-based candies like Nerds and Gobstoppers (a variation on Jawbreakers) were a big hit and remain popular to this day. Even now, over forty years later, the Wonka brand and many of those products still exist (though Nestlé replaced Wonka with "Nestlé Candy Shop" in the US and the UK), no doubt buoyed by a further film adaptation of the book and subsequent reimaging of the brand.
* ''Film/JamesBond'':
** Several of the movies have inspired the CIA to create real life gadgets based on the ones seen in said movies.
** ''Film/{{Spectre}}'' opens with James Bond in Mexico City on the Day of the Dead in the middle of a giant parade complete with skeleton floats. While the Day of the Dead is an old tradition, no such parade existed...until this movie came out, after which Mexican audience members loved it so much that [[https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/oct/29/day-of-the-dead-parade-james-bond-mexico-city the government decided to do it for real.]]
** The Tarot deck used by Solitaire in ''Film/LiveAndLetDie'' was designed specifically for the film by artist Fergus Hall. It was later sold briefly as the 007 deck before being renamed as the Tarot of the Witches.
* In ''Film/JurassicPark'', there's a book on display in the gift shop called ''The Making of Jurassic Park'' by Don Shay and Jody Duncan, clearly intended to be an in-universe telling of the park's development. The real book, by the same authors but with a different cover, is about the making of the movie.
* ''Film/WarGames'' showed a cool set of missile displays in NORAD. The real life NORAD commander thought those displays were better than the real ones. So, now NORAD displays more closely resemble the ones in the film. The in-story "game" ''Global Thermonuclear War'' (actually a real nuclear exchange program) was later defictionalized as ''VideoGame/{{DEFCON}}''. Of course, buying the game involves some AesopAmnesia on the part of anyone who's actually seen the movie, since "the only winning move is not to play".
* ''Literature/HarryPotter'':
** "Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans" was incarnated into the real world by the good if twisted folks at [[http://www.jellybelly.com/ JellyBelly]] as part of the promotional build-up to the [[Film/HarryPotter film version]] of ''Literature/HarryPotterAndThePhilosophersStone''. It helped that they'd already made plenty of bizarre jelly bean flavors -- all they had to do was make all the gross ones. A lot of the gross ones are actually discarded, legitimate, if not failed attempts at making good flavors -- the vomit flavouring, for instance, was originally ''meant'' to be pizza.
** Chocolate Frogs and Caramel Flies now exist as well, although the frogs are just Pop Rocks in a frog-shaped shell, which come with holographic trading cards.
** In another ''Literature/HarryPotter'' reference, King's Cross train station in London now has a sign for "Platform 9 3/4", as well as a luggage cart half-embedded in a brick wall at which tourists can take pictures. One can only imagine how many impressionable young children have run head-first into that wall, expecting to emerge in wizardville.
** The Muggle world now has ''Literature/TheTalesOfBeedleTheBard'', ''Literature/FantasticBeastsAndWhereToFindThem'' (now itself [[Film/FantasticBeastsAndWhereToFindThem a major motion picture!]]), and ''Literature/QuidditchThroughTheAges''.
** In most of the DVD cases for the movies released in the US there's a small leaflet with merchandise you can buy, like replicas of the wands.
** "Muggle Quidditch" is now playable on college campuses. (The part of the Snitch has to be played by a small fast-running student in a yellow T-shirt.) There's even a movement for it to [[http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=131144212 become an NCAA-sanctioned sport.]] You can't make this up, folks.
** The life-size vibrating replica broomsticks. Not like those are likely to be [[http://www.realitywired.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/potter-broom.jpg repurposed]].
** A lot of Harry Potter products, like pumpkin juice and butterbeer, have now gotten their own official defictionalizations since the opening of ''Ride/TheWizardingWorldOfHarryPotter'' areas at the Ride/UniversalStudios parks.
** With the launch of Pottermore, you can now be officially sorted into a Hogwarts House by a questionnaire designed by JK Rowling herself. And now you can also be sorted into an [[Film/FantasticBeastsAndWhereToFindThem Ilvermorny]] house.
* ''Film/{{Idiocracy}}'':
** In November 2007, ''Brawndo'' "the thirst mutilator", a fictional brand of energy drink which appeared in the film, became a real product released by Omni Consumer Products, complete with [[TestosteronePoisoning ridiculously over-the-top ads]]. ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tbxq0IDqD04 ''It's like having sex with a tractor trailer in a parking lot!]]'')
** The [=TruTV=] series ''It Only Hurts When I Laugh'' is an everything-but-the-name Defictionalization of ''Ow, My Balls!''.
* ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy2014'': the movie's soundtrack is outright named ''Awesome Mix Vol. 1'' and its cover features tape deck to show it's Quill's tape from the movie, and for Record Store Tape [[http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/6289124/guardians-of-the-galaxy-soundtrack-cassette-tape there were actual]] [[https://disneymusic.shop.musictoday.com/product/XVCS01/guardians-of-the-galaxy-awesome-mix-vol-1-cassette cassette versions]]! [[Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol2 The sequel]] did the same with ''Awesome Mix Vol. 2'' . Also in existence: dancing Groot toys, which dance to Music/{{The Jacksons}}' "I Want You Back".
* ''Franchise/RoboCop'' - Omni Consumer Products is now a real company. Appropriately it specializes in creating defictionalized products (including the aforementioned Brawndo):
* ''Film/AnchormanTheLegendOfRonBurgundy'': OCP and Website/{{Vat19}} have both created a real-world [[LovePotion Sex Panther]] product.
* When the ''Film/TheFlintstones'' movie came out, several UsefulNotes/McDonalds got Bedrock versions of their golden arches.
* A heartwarming instance of defictionalization and back. During 1960s, a Mexican priest named Padre Sergio Gutierrez was inspired by two movies featuring a priest supporting an orphanage by being a masked wrestler by night to become a masked wrestler himself to support the orphanage he ran, taking up the name from the movies, Fray Tormenta, for more than 30 years. His life, in turn, inspired two movies, one French and the other American, ''L'Homme au masque d'or'' and ''Film/NachoLibre'', about a priest supporting an orphanage as a masked wrestler.
* ''Film/ThisIsSpinalTap'':
** The mock band Spinal Tap became a real band (performed by the actors from the movie), and have released three albums, toured the world and performed on multiple television shows. Sometimes their support band was The Folksmen, the spoof folk band, played by the same actors, who appeared in the film ''Film/AMightyWind''.
** Several producers of amplifiers and other audio equipment have calibrated the dials on their products to go up to eleven.
** One of the members appeared in an ad for an amp that went ''[[SerialEscalation up to 20]]''. 'cos [[http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa249/nebulax/SpinalTap-JCM900.jpg that's 9 louder innit!]]
* The Holiday Inn hotel chain was named for the eponymous inn from the 1942 Bing Crosby/Fred Astaire movie ''Film/HolidayInn'' -- the same film which gave us the immortal song "White Christmas".
* Shortly after the release of ''Film/{{Grindhouse}}'', it was announced that ''Film/{{Machete}}'', one of the [[RealTrailerFakeMovie fake trailers]] included therein, would be produced as its own theatrical release. It was released in 2010. This is also supposed to happen with Music/RobZombie's ''Werewolf Women of the S.S.'' and Eli Roth's ''Thanksgiving''. ''Film/HoboWithAShotgun'' was released in 2011, starring Rutger Hauer as the eponymous hero.
* The Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant chain came from the movie ''Film/ForrestGump'' (though in the movie, the company only caught the shrimp).
* The Crane Kick, taught by Mr. Miyagi in ''Film/TheKarateKid'' is widely considered by martial artists (even practitioners of karate) to be a move too impractical to ever be used. Lyoto Machida, a mixed martial artist, used it to KO an old legend, Randy Couture - granted he didn't do it exactly like it was depicted in the film.
* The hockey team Anaheim Ducks was founded by Disney as Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, based on their film ''Film/TheMightyDucks''. It's even Lampshaded in the third movie. "You've never heard of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks? They named a ''pro team'' after us." They have since dropped the "Mighty" and the uniforms from the movie, since Disney no longer owns the team, and have actually become quite a respectable team, having won UsefulNotes/TheStanleyCup in 2007. [[http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/relive-ducks--win-through-tweets-of-gordon-bombay-a-k-a--emilio-estevez-185025845.html Gordon Bombay even cheered for them!]]
* The Samsung [=SPH-N270=] was created to resemble the cell phone used in ''Film/TheMatrix Reloaded''. Neo used a Nokia 8110. While the film prop version had been modified by the film's production crew to have its keypad cover spring-loaded, the retail model did not have this function. In response, the Nokia 7110 was later released, with a spring-loaded cover inspired by the film.
* ''Film/TropicThunder'': Yes, Alpa Chino's Booty Sweat energy drink [[https://www.flickr.com/photos/29572154@N04/4383352381/ is real]], as are Portnoy's [[BlindIdiotTranslation Engrish]]-laden "Jojo Jelly Beans." This means that the line that the beverage is "available at concessions" in [[RealTrailerFakeMovie the fake advertisement at the beginning of the film]] is either surprisingly blatant shilling or [[HilariousInHindsight just that much funnier]].
* ''Franchise/BackToTheFuture'' series.
** The multicoloured caps from ''Film/BackToTheFuturePartII'' have undergone several rounds of production.
** Nike produced the Hyperdunk shoe, designed after the Air [=McFly=]. And now they've [[http://gizmodo.com/5622061/nikes-got-back-to-the-future-ii-sneaker-patents filed patents]] for self-lacing Nikes.
*** Nike released the Air MAG, which copies the look of the shoes down to the lights. The ads explain it doesn't have autolaces [[LampshadeHanging since they were released in 2011, not 2015.]]
*** The patent for self-lacing shoes was not a red herring, Nike released a limited number of self-lacing pairs on Oct. 21, 2015. They were auctioned off for Parkinson's research.
** Though ''unfortunately'' not an actual novel, author James Hunt created [[http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1493558803/ref=s9_simh_gw_p14_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=107XG6WTD89NMQGAQXK2&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200422&pf_rd_i=507846 a real blank-page journal]] that features [[https://www.flickr.com/photos/jameswong/5963677684/ the very dust jacket]] of George [=McFly's=] first novel, ''A Match Made in Space''. The photo of George [=McFly=] is not featured on the back of the jacket, however.
** To celebrate the day the second film takes place in the future (Oct. 21, 2015), Pepsi marketed a limited production run of 6,500 Pepsi Perfect bottles for $20.15 each on that date. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrwRdzFP-fY Their advertisement for it]] gleefully plays up the film's imagery. Also, Universal decided [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl092whRLlI to make a trailer]] [[JustForFun/Jaws19 for]] ''Film/{{Jaws}} [[RidiculousFutureSequelisation 19]]'', and ''USA Today'' [[http://mashable.com/2015/10/21/usa-today-back-to-the-future/?utm_cid=mash-com-Tw-main-link#CRpJyKDt2kqP wrapped that day's edition]] in a recreation of the paper Doc shows Marty (complete with a LampshadeHanging, regarding "a USA Today copy with fictional articles and studies, many of them inspired by ''Back to the Future Part II''").
** Skating company Arx Pax worked together with Tony Hawk to develop the hendo hoverboard as seen in the second film. It does not use antigravity technology to hover though, just electromagnetism.
** Part II has a fictional "Florida Gators" in the World Series, as the state didn't have an MLB team yet. Thus in 2015 the Miami Marlins [[http://news.sportslogos.net/2015/04/01/miami-marlins-are-going-back-to-the-future-with-season-long-promotion/ made sure to use the alligator logo in some specific days (including Oct. 21) and create some merchandise with it.]]
* ''Film/{{Beetlejuice}}'': And like ''BTTF'', James Hunt did the same exact thing with ''[[http://www.amazon.com/Handbook-For-The-Recently-Deceased/dp/1482665328 The Handbook for the Recently Deceased]]''.
* In ''Film/ManWithAPlan'' (1996), elderly Vermont hill-farmer Fred Tuttle played a man just like himself who ran for Congress against a well-funded city-slicker incumbent. Two years later, Tuttle sought, and won, the Republican U.S. Senate nomination against a rich city-slicker who had moved from out of state just to run. Then he turned around, bowed out and endorsed his general-election opponent (Democrat Patrick Leahy).
* ''Franchise/{{Ghostbusters}}'':
** Stay Puft Marshmallows from ''Film/{{Ghostbusters|1984}}'' became [[http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/e59b/?cpg=138H2 a real product]].
** The iconic ''Ghostbusters'' theme song by Ray Parker Jr. also serves as their theme song ''in-universe'', presumably as a catchy commercial jingle. Parker himself said he found the inspiration for the song from hearing commercial songs. In fact, several businesses have used the tune to promote themselves.
** The firefighters at [[http://www.bigwaste.com/photos/ny/ghostbusters/firehouse.shtml Hook & Ladder 8]], the iconic New York City firehouse which was used as the Ghostbusters' headquarters in exterior shots, have adapted a modified version of the Ghostbusters "No Ghost" logo as their own; the cartoon ghost (now wearing firefighting gear) can be seen on their vehicles as well as [[http://ghostbustersnh.com/media/hook-ladder-8-trip painted on the sidewalk in front of the building]]. They also still have the prop sign from ''Film/GhostbustersII'' hanging on display in their garage.
** [[http://www.gbfans.com/fans/art/franchises/ Fans everywhere]] create their own Ghostbusters files, ranging from the 50 states to some foreign countries (though a few make sure to put a disclaimer on their website that they cannot do paranormal stuff exactly like the movie).
** For ''Film/Ghostbusters2016'', Erin and Abby's book "Ghosts of our Past" is available for sale (the Amazon.com author pages shown in the movie [[http://www.amazon.com/Erin-Gilbert/e/B01GSL3M4A are even on the actual site]]), as is Tobin's Spirit Guide.
* Dolls based on Chucky and Tiffany from ''Film/ChildsPlay'' are available in comic book stores. At least they're not [[MisaimedMarketing marketed towards children]]...
* [[MisaimedMarketing Wedding rings]] and piercing rings based on the One Ring from ''Literature/TheLordOfTheRings'' are also available. There are many different versions of recipes for Lembas, books of songs, and a lot of other things.
* ''Film/{{Gremlins}}'':
** Furbies are arguably defictionalized mogwai. Hasbro and Warner Bros. came to an agreement about the similarities between the two, and a "Gizmo: Friend of Furby" doll was released.
** [=YouTuber=] Creator/{{wileyk209zback}} [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFSI6Bg2M-Q recreated the fire alarm]] from ''Film/Gremlins2TheNewBatch''.
* To promote the ''Film/SpeedRacer'' movie, NASCAR actually made the Mach 5. Its design is a mix between the car's actual design and NASCAR's traditional mold for cars.
* On the subject of NASCAR, in ''Film/TalladegaNightsTheBalladOfRickyBobby'', the titular character drives the #62 car with a customized paint scheme - a mixture of orange and black tones, with a cougar painted on the hood with the word "ME", and the words "I Wanna Go Fast" under the rear spoiler. Six years later, [[http://www.jayski.com/schemes/2012/51cup.htm Kurt Busch drove his #51 car with Ricky Bobby's #62 colors]] in the 2012 Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway. Ironically, given this was the year after Busch was fired from Penske Racing, many have considered Busch to now be an {{Expy}} of Ricky Bobby.
* To promote the film ''Film/TransformersDarkOfTheMoon'', the Wreckers (whose car modes are as the NASCAR Chevrolets of Juan Pablo Montoya, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. with heavy body armor) circled the track during the pace laps of the 2011 Daytona 500. In addition, both Bumblebee and Ironhide's alternate modes were available as actual cars that fans could purchase.
* The [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talkboy Talkboy]] from ''Film/HomeAlone2LostInNewYork'' was originally conceived as a non-working prop for the film, one letter-writing campaign from 1990s kids later and it was Defictionalized by Tiger Electronics. It sold well enough that several variants were created.
* A ''Film/{{Jumanji}}'' board game was produced when the movie came out. It plays much like the movie game, sans [[ArtifactOfDoom sucking in small children]]. Also features a few extra gameplay features using extra dice and an eight-second timer to stop the dangers from escaping into the outside world and, eventually, causing [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt Armageddon]]. It featured additional nasty effects as well as those in the film, but one wonders how a player could finish the game if he or she were vaporized.
* A good deal of things seen (usually t-shirts) in [[Film/TheViewAskewniverse Kevin Smith's movies]] are sold online.
* The [[TheRedStapler red Swingline stapler]] from ''Film/OfficeSpace''; originally a custom-painted prop made for the film, Swingline quickly started making real ones due to demand.
* One could debate this, but with the release of the ''Comicbook/{{Watchmen}}'' [[Film/{{Watchmen}} film]], an animated version of the [[ShowWithinAShow the comic within the film]] ''Tales from the Black Freighter'' was put out on DVD (and will apparently be available on a [[ReCut huge extended super mega long director's gigantic untamed unrated cut]] of the film).
* Excerpts of ''Philosophy of Time Travel'' books started being released after ''Film/DonnieDarko'' became a CultClassic.
* ''Film/{{Casablanca}}'' - There is a restaurant named Rick's in Casablanca, Morocco.
* Half credit given to ''Film/{{Big}}'', with the famous piano scene in FAO Schwartz. The floor piano itself was real, but wasn't made in the scale the movie required, being a smaller 6' version compared to the near 16' needed to have the notes and width for two people. After the movie, the company did actually make the longer version, and it was indeed set up in FAO Schwarz for people to play on.
** Somebody also made a [[http://www.bomtoons.com/biggame.html playable version]] of the game Josh plays early in the movie. It's almost 100% accurate to the movie, in that it's only one screen long and all you can do is fool around with the text parser until either the wizard kills you or you figure out the one command ([[spoiler:"THROW POD"]]) that defeats him. Still: neat, huh?
* There are no fewer than three formulae for Transparent Aluminium after ''Film/StarTrekIVTheVoyageHome''
** One of which, corundum, with the formula of [=Al2O3=], is better known as rubies and sapphires. Aluminum Oxynitride may be a better fit, though, being entirely synthetic.
* There was a commercial for a real-life "Heart of the Ocean" necklace shortly after the release of ''Film/{{Titanic 1997}}''.
* The classic Creator/PrestonSturges movie ''Film/SullivansTravels'' is about a filmmaker who wants to make a movie called "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" He never makes the movie, but several decades later [[Creator/TheCoenBrothers someone else]] [[Film/OBrotherWhereArtThou did]]. The movie features several nods to ''Sullivan's Travels''.
* The set of ''Film/FriedGreenTomatoes'' was purchased after the filming and made into an actual restaurant in Forsyth, Georgia. Eating here can be rather confusing as they kept all the memorabilia from the movie, including newspaper clippings about the restaurant dating to the 1920s. This can lead someone who isn't familiar with the ''real'' history of the restaurant to believe the movie was based on it, instead of the other way around. It also has some slightly bizarre connotations, given that a major plot point of the film was [[spoiler:a {{Domestic Abuse}}r's corpse being made into barbecue and served to unsuspecting customers]].
* The midichlorians from ''Franchise/StarWars'' now have been used to name [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midichloria a species of bacteria]] that infect the mitochondria inside the cells of a species of tick.
** This is odd, since the description in ''Film/ThePhantomMenace'' suggests that "midichlorian" is a collective term for mitochondria and plastids.
** Various fans have naturally created varying replicas of the lightsaber. Physicist Michio Kaku went one step further and created a design for a functional replica of the lightsaber using real world materials and processes still in development. It's essentially a powerful plasma torch with a portable power supply using a theoretical super high capacity carbon nanotube battery. It's expected to be out in 50 years. As of January 2016, a functional lightsaber [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1lPz7uqFHo is now a thing]], although it's less of a lightsaber and more of a lighter shaped like a lightsaber. And by December 2019, a practical lightsaber [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_efVoeiSKP0 that can actually be used for cutting things]] has finally become a reality. This version is based on the Protosaber, a prototype lightsaber powered by an external portable battery box.
** Even the Jedi have been gaining real-life followers. [[http://www.templeofthejediorder.org We're dead serious.]] And this is just one sect of it.
** A real-life R2-D2 robot was made for ''Film/TheForceAwakens'', and a fully-functional BB-8 was officially made after.
* ''Film/TheShining'': Jack Torrance's debut novel, ''All Work And No Play Makes Jack A Dull Boy'', is just the title phrase repeated on seventy pages -- but you can [[http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/512660 buy it]] anyway.
* The Turboman doll from ''Film/JingleAllTheWay'' was actually released through Wal-Mart for the 1996 Christmas season.
* As a way to add to the illusion of reality for the Japanese film ''Film/AllAboutLilyChouChou'', two singles and an album were released under the titular character's name.
* The band from ''Film/TheCommitments'' also toured as a real band.
* According to the Website/IMDb trivia entry for ''Film/LocalHero'', "After the movie came out, many people went in search of the village with the phone booth. Since it didn't exist, they were always disappointed. The village where the movie was filmed finally decided to put up a phone booth for the sake of the visitors."
* Wilson Sporting Goods still sells a [[http://www.ecrater.com/p/3394815/volley-ball-wilson-castaway-volleyball volleyball just like the one in]] ''Film/CastAway''.
* The ''Film/FightClub'' soap is an exact copy of the one used in the film, very popular. It probably doesn't contain the "[[HumanResources special ingredient]]" that Tyler and the Narrator used, though.
* In what may be the most widespread and disturbing versions of Defictionalization EVER, there are actually people who have [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Truman_Show_delusion "Truman syndrome"]], or "Film/TheTrumanShow Delusion", is the stark belief that they are [[TrumanShowPlot secretly being filmed all the time.]] Several dozen cases have been reported since 1998, the year ''Film/TheTrumanShow'' was released.
* Since the release of ''Film/PineappleExpress'' there have been several attempts by dealers to market their own strains of marijuana under the name "Pineapple Express". The results, invariably turn out far more disappointing than as they were described in the film.
* [[http://dsc.discovery.com/cars-bikes/fully-operational-tron-light-cycle-now-street-legal-and-for-sale.html#mkcpgn=fbdsc17 A street-legal replica]] of the ''Film/TronLegacy'' lightcycle.
* [[http://article.wn.com/view/2011/08/23/The_Parallax_Corporation_to_Release_First_Officially_License/ There are now]] real-life ''Film/SoylentGreen'' wafers, produced by the Parallax Corporation. Unlike the film, there are no HumanResources involved.
* There is a [[Film/{{Psycho}} Bates Motel]] in Vale, Oregon.
* ''Film/BladeRunner'':
** The police offices constructed in Union Station, Los Angeles for the filming of the movie still stand today, in use as station offices. The crew was able to get a little bit of a discount if Union Station officials agreed to keep the set for practical use after filming was over.
** Some cities, [[https://www.google.com/search?q=shanghai+looks+like+blade+runner&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=vD6&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=nvWOUrD7BqjnsAS8j4HgBg&ved=0CDIQsAQ&biw=1151&bih=725 particularly]] UsefulNotes/{{Shanghai}}, look more and more like ''Blade Runner'' every year.
** Deckard's revolver, the prop of which is built around a firing revolver, is a popular custom project for gun smiths. [[Series/{{Mythbusters}} Adam Savage]] has built numerous attempts to replicate it perfectly.
* Adam Banjo and Roy Sullivan were a pair of fictional country musicians in ''Film/TheDevilsRejects''. The same year the movie came out, a supposed Banjo & Sullivan GreatestHitsAlbum was also released. In reality, of course, Music/RobZombie had commissioned real life country musician Jesse Dayton to write and perform the music.
* Music/Apollonia6's album was released about two months after the group's appearance in the ''Film/PurpleRain'' film.
* Phil Coulson's [[RunningGag beloved]] ComicBook/CaptainAmerica trading cards from ''Film/{{The Avengers|2012}}'' are now available for purchase by fans courtesy of prop collectibles company [=eFX=].
** A subversion happened when Ben & Jerry's said they wouldn't release the "Stark Raving Hazelnuts" and "Hunka Hulk Burning' Fudge" flavors discussed in ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar'' (and with the latter featured in ''Film/AvengersEndgame''), but fans still try to make said ice cream themselves.
* The 1989 movie ''Film/TheBloodOfHeroes'', also known as ''Film/TheSaluteOfTheJugger'', features a violent gladiatorial sport named [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jugger Jugger]]. A number of LARP systems across the world now have their own in-world version of the rules, and quite a lot play by a formalized INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED ruleset.
* ''Film/RealSteel'' has been said to be the direct inspiration for the Creator/{{Syfy}} show ''Series/RobotCombatLeague''.
* The soundtrack of ''Film/ThatThingYouDo'' was released on the Play-Tone Records label. (Tom Hanks would also use the name for his production company.) The title track became a minor hit in its own right, making the Billboard Hot 100, and occasionally being heard on Oldies radio to this day.
* Played with in the case of ''Film/RockyIII''; while a [[Pinball/{{Rocky}} "Rocky" pinball machine]] exists, it's different than the one that appears in the movie.
* The eponymous fighting arena in ''Film/TheOctagon'' inspired the shape of (what else) the Octagon in the UFC. Consequently, octagons have become the most popular shape for UsefulNotes/MixedMartialArts rings across all promotions.
* ''Music/TheRutles'': originally a film parodying the Beatles, the fictional band stepped completely out of fictional territory with the release of their CD ''[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rutles_Archaeology Archaeology]]'' in 1996 ([[BlatantLies purely by coincidence]] paralleling the release of the Beatles' ''Anthology''). While there had been an earlier Rutles release, it was not purported to be a "genuine" Rutles album; instead it was a soundtrack to their initial TV special. Although there was still a fictitious aspect to Archaeology (the new recordings were said to have comprised a 'lost Rutles album' from 1970), the three remaining members of the group not only thanked the Beatles in the booklet, but credited themselves under their own names. Even further, the lyrics of "Questionnaire" directly address John Lennon's murder, while "Unfinished Words" weaves in the titles of various Beatles 'outfakes.'
* ''Film/SummerLovers.'' The villa where Michael and Cathy stay is now a gift shop called "Summer Lovers."
* When fans of ''Film/FreeWilly'' found out that the star of the film was sickly and living in a small tank at a theme park, a campaign to free him into the wild was started and he was eventually released into the ocean. The release didn't go like it did in the movie, but it brought him back to health and he was able to roam the ocean as he pleased.
* The leg lamp from ''Film/AChristmasStory'' became a real product in 2003. And yes, it comes in a crate marked "Fragile" and "His end up".
** A fan of the film, Brian Jones, purchased the original house used for the film and designed it to look like the original sets as accurately as possible. He took it even further and created a [[https://www.redriderleglamps.com gift shop]] where you can buy ''every single prop in the film.''
* ''Film/DestinationMoon'' has one of the strongest examples possible. The movie contains WesternAnimation/WoodyWoodpecker cartoons which were created by the space agency to explain the concepts of space travel and a journey to the moon to the general public. A decade later NASA actually used these cartoons for the same purpose.
* The crew from ''Film/KingsmanTheSecretService'' teamed up with real Savile Row tailors to [[http://www.latimes.com/fashion/la-ig-kingsman-20150208-story.html make their own brand]].
* Since part of ''Film/{{Jurassic World}}'s'' premise is that the titular park is now a reality, it's no surprise that the main marketing strategy for the film is to make the park seem as real and authentic as possible. In particular, we have:
** [[http://www.jurassicworld.com/ The memetically awesome website]], a site for the park instead of the film. It has such features as information on the park itself (such as a map, pages describing the attractions, info on the park's dinosaurs, etc.), schedules for attractions and wait times, the time of day, the current temperature and climate, a live webcam of the park and--as of the film's official release--a brief "WeAreExperiencingTechnicalDifficulties" message. The Facebook page also acted as one for the park for a while.
** The Jurassic World "snap bands", which were used to identify park guests in the film.
** An official Jurassic World "guidebook" of sorts entitled "The Park is Open" (though it's marketed as a children's sticker book), which also comes with Jurassic World visitor passes.
** A Jurassic World brochure distributed by Best Buy and Samsung, along with some really neat trading cards.
* The horror film ''Film/{{Found}}'' shows clips from a fictional FilmWithinAFilm called ''Headless''. ''Headless'' was later made into a full-length movie.
* ''Honeymooon in Vegas'' featured an iconic scene where Nicolas Cage parachuted into Vegas with a team of pro sky divers [[ElvisImpersonator dressed up as]] Elvis Presley. [[http://flyingelvi.com/ Guess what these sky divers did later.]]
* A talking action figure based on Weebo from the movie ''{{Film/Flubber}}'' was released to tie in with the movie.
* For the 25th anniversary of ''Film/HomeAlone'' the company UberEats announced they would begin to deliver a limited run of pizzas branded from Little Nero's Pizza.'
* The ''fucking'' Catalina Wine Mixer "featured" in ''Film/StepBrothers'' has [[http://www.visitcatalinaisland.com/event/catalina-wine-mixer/ finally became a real event]].
* Surprisingly enough, the idea of spring break for many colleges and schools originated from the movie ''Where The Boys Are'', in which four college-aged woman go on a trip during the springtime during the school year.
* In honour of ''Film/{{Dodgeball}}'''s mockery of its channels, ESPN actually rebranded their college-focused ESPNU as ESPN 8: The Ocho for twenty-four hours on August 8th (yeah, 8/8) 2017, dedicating the day to esoteric (kabaddi), unpopular (darts) or barely-qualifying-as (the moxie games?!) sports. It was so successful they've repeated the stunt every year since (on ESPN 2).
* Creator/AlanMoore has [[https://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/05/09/faith-her-story-isnt-finished-alan-moores-feature-film-the-show-very-close-to-happening-video/ discussed]] how his upcoming film ''The Show'' (continuing from the ''Show Pieces '' shorts) is intended to have "reverse product placement", where the fictional products seen in the films suddenly turn up on real supermarket shelves.
* The featured team in the 1991 American football film ''Film/NecessaryRoughness'' is the Texas State Fightin' Armadillos. At the time, no school was named simply Texas State. From Banner Society: 'Texas State is now a real FBS school, after Southwest Texas State was renamed in the 2000s. The actual Texas State is like the movie Texas State without the past glory.' However, the mascots differ: Fictional Texas State are the Armadillos, real life Texas State is the Bobcats.
** The real Southwest Texas State Bobcats actually appeared in the movie, as one of the fictional Texas State's opponents.
* The Hong Kong film ''The God of Cookery'' featured the "Sorrowful Rice", made with Cantonese-style barbecued pork, bok choy (a type of Chinese cabbage), fried eggs, onions, and fried rice, has since become available in some street restaurants in Hong Kong (the humble, hearty dish is not supposed be sorrowful itself, but [[ComfortFood to comfort those who are]]).
* One of the storylines in ''Film/LoveActually'' was ageing rockstar Billy Mac's attempt to claim the UK Christmas [=No1=] with a reworking of the Troggs' "Love Is All Around". The song would be entered into the real race for the UK Christmas [=No1=] race in 2003. He fared less successful in real life - it peaked at [=No26=].
* The comic book from ''Film/{{Creepshow}}'' was released in 1982.
* ''Film/AllAboutEve'' depicts the title character winning the Sarah Siddons Award (named for an 18th century British actress). There was no such award at the time, but theatre patrons in Chicago established a real [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Siddons_Award Sarah Siddons Award]] in 1952, which is still being given annually.
* 1968 saw the release of the first movie in the ''Film/OlsenBanden'' series, in which the protagonists regularly crack open safes from a fictional German brand called Franz Jäger. Then in ''2014'' a Norwegian company called Safe Direkte started selling safes with the Franz Jäger name imprinted on them. No word on if anyone calling themselves Olsen ([[DubNameChange or Jönsson]]) has managed to crack the real-world safes open yet, though.
* The Music/FooFighters recorded an album as Dream Widow, the band featured in their film ''Film/Studio666''.
* ''Film/Saw3D'': Physical copies of Bobby's "S.U.R.V.I.V.E." book were released as merchandise for the film, albeit with entirely blank pages. A number of the copies were autographed by Creator/CostasMandylor.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* ''Literature/OldMortality'': Tillietudlem, Lady Margaret's castle, is fictional but possibly inspired by [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craignethan_Castle Craignethan Castle]]. Years later a railway station and a small village in South Lanarkshire were named after Tillietudlem.
%%For the sake of avoiding repetition, we're keeping all the ''Literature/HarryPotter'' stuff under film.
* A few things in ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'' had since been turned into actual products. These include the ''Literature/WheresMyCow?'' and ''Literature/TheWorldOfPoo'' children's books, and various badges (City Watch, Guilds, {{Uberwald}} Blood Donor Group...)
** The stamps introduced in ''Literature/GoingPostal'', and mentioned in later books. Which now exist, complete with sports, rare limited editions and a quarterly magazine for "flatalists".
** Pterry mentions an example himself in the Author's Note to ''Wintersmith'': a group of fans who danced the Dark Morris for him in Chicago.
** The card game ''Cripple Mr. Onion'' has been turned into a playable game by fans. Several times over, in fact, because the rules seen in the books are vague enough to allow for a lot of interpretation.
** You can also buy Nanny Ogg's Cookbook. Not entirely defictionalization, as this is not the same book as the one she wrote in ''Literature/{{Maskerade}}'', which was called ''The Joye of Snackes''.
** You can get the ''Thud'' game. Thud was based on real life Tafl Games, although the rules ''were'' altered a bit. And the game appeared in real life first and ''then'' got added to the books.
** [[http://www.college-of-arms.gov.uk/news-grants/newsletter/item/27-september-2010 Terry Pratchett's coat of arms]] contains an [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ankh Egyptian cross]] and an [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morepork owl]] (compare [[http://mostcuriousthing.com/trumpets/dwinfo/dictionary/ankhmorpork.htm Ankh-Morpork coat of arms]]), as well as the motto "Noli timere messorem", or "Do not fear the reaper" (compare [[http://www.paulkidby.com/colourprints/index.html Mort's motto]] in [[DogLatin Latatian]], "Non timetis messor") and two books in red (i.e. "[[JustForPun read]]").
* In ''Literature/TheMortalInstruments'' and ''Literature/TheInfernalDevices'' there was a book called ''Literature/TheShadowhunterCodex'' which was a textbook for new Shadowhunters with information about Shadowhunter life. Creator/CassandraClare later really wrote the book as a companion to the other books in ''Literature/TheShadowhunterChronicles''.
* Around the time the movie adaptation of Creator/JohnIrving's novel ''A Widow For A Year'' came out, the children's book ''A Sound Like Trying Not to Make a Sound'' (featured in the novel and the movie) was published for real.
* A Creator/GeorgeOrwell essay describing the "Moon Under Water", his idea of a perfect British pub, inspired (at least in theory) the creation of the J.D. Wetherspoon chain. A number of Wetherspoon's pubs are indeed called the Moon Under Water, and others have "Moon" themed names.
* One of the novels of Creator/KurtVonnegut's fictional author Kilgore Trout was ''Venus on the Half-Shell''. Creator/PhilipJoseFarmer later wrote an actual novel title ''Venus on the Half-Shell'' that he published under the pseudonym Kilgore Trout. [[note]]Some critics thought Kilgore was Vonnegut and the book a "worthy addition to his canon" pissing off Vonnegut no end, even though he had given permission to Farmer to use the name.[[/note]]
** In a lesser case, [[http://www1.lsbu.ac.uk/water/ice_ix.html an Ice-9 was discovered]], even if not as lethal as the one from ''Literature/CatsCradle''.
* In ''Literature/TimeEnoughForLove'' by [[Creator/RobertAHeinlein Robert Heinlein]], the FramingStory is that the main character, Lazarus Long, is reluctantly recounting his life story. The computer recording his recollections is instructed to select quotable portions and compile them into a book of his quotes. These are presented within the book in interlude sections. However, in 1978 and 1988 [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Notebooks_of_Lazarus_Long actual books]] were published of only the quotes.
* Creator/HPLovecraft:
** It's quite easy to obtain Miskatonic University attire. Go Cephalopods!
** The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society has some very impressive reproductions of [[http://www.cthulhulives.org/store/store.lasso?1=product&2=33176 assorted]] [[http://www.cthulhulives.org/store/store.lasso?1=product&2=32771 blasphemous]] [[http://www.cthulhulives.org/store/store.lasso?1=product&2=45 idols]], [[http://www.cthulhulives.org/store/store.lasso?1=product&2=32831 pages from the Necronomicon]], and [[http://www.cthulhulives.org/store/store.lasso?1=product&2=50 Professor Angell's Box]], a very expensive, detailed and exhaustively complete copy of the box of documents and props from "Literature/TheCallOfCthulhu".
** The Necronomicon is listed in the Ohio University Library card catalog. Creator/LSpragueDeCamp, fantasy author and linguist, acted as Abdul Alhazred's "translator".
** There are even a few published books calling themselves the Necronomicon. Most are little more than black-magic occultism books that will make passing references to Cthulhu at best, and no reference to Lovecraft at all at worst. The most famous is the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Necronomicon Simon Necronomicon]], but one that is closest to what the fictional Necronomicon contained is probably Necronomicon: the Wanderings of Alhazred, as written by occult writer Donald Tyson.
* The titular race from Literature/TheHobbit was Defictionalized when paleontologists discovered [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homo_floresiensis Homo floresiensis]], a species of 3-foot tall hominins that lived on the Flores island roughly a thousand years ago.
* Creator/MichaelChabon likes this kind of thing:
** In the novel ''Literature/TheAmazingAdventuresOfKavalierAndClay,'' the protagonists create a comic book series called ''The Escapist.'' Then a 6-issue miniseries came out, printing various comic book stories from ''The Escapist,'' from the '40s through the present, with explanatory articles by real important figures in the comic book world, about the series' various publishers, and its place in the changing trends and values in the history of comics.
** ''Literature/TelegraphAvenue'' had a record store featured in the book defictionalised as part of the book's advertising campaign. An [[http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/13/brokeland-records-_n_1773667.html?utm_hp_ref=books article]] on the campaign even cites this page.
* The ''Literature/TheWarAgainstTheChtorr'' series features the Mode Training, which is kind of self-help training on acid. Guess what? David Gerrold, the author, is building an ''actual'' Mode Training program. Oddly, one of the books has him set aside some pages to point out that Mode Training is fictional and he never wants to see anyone creating "Mode Training" and charging people money for it, because it was rather dangerous. Perhaps this meant ''other'' people.
* Several segments of the titular play of Robert W. Chambers' short story collection ''King in Yellow'' have been later written by other authors. Thom Ryng is the possibly the only one who has not only written the whole thing, but also had it actually played on stage. No reports of insanity have been made of the readers, but save for a few anachronisms in language and style, it's a very good and suitably bleak story of how YouCantFightFate in a world inhabited by monsters.
* The ''[[Literature/{{Dragonlance}} Dragonlance Chronicles]]'' and subsequent campaign setting use the Inn of the Last Home as a starting point, which is known for Otik's famous spiced potatoes. Enthusiastic ''Dragonlance'' fans have created several recipes for the potatoes and one such recipe was listed as a notation in the ''Annotated Dragonlance Chronicles''.
* In ''Literature/DragonlanceTheNewAdventures'', Sindri writes a guidebook titled ''A Practical Guide to Dragons'', which is mentioned InUniverse in the Suncatcher Trilogy. It was published in real life just after the first book of that trilogy.
* ''Literature/AroundTheWorldInEightyDays'' inspired real people, like reporter [[ActionGirl Nellie Bly]], to see if they could circumnavigate the globe in eighty days or less. (She could, and did, and wrote her own book, ''Literature/AroundTheWorldInSeventyTwoDays.'')
* A fan organization of Imperial cosplayers -- the [[http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/501st_Legion_(organization) 501st Legion]], Vader's Fist -- was reverse-defictionalized first by Creator/TimothyZahn, who wrote of the [[BadassArmy Empire's finest]], the [[http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/501st_Legion 501st]], Lord Vader's personal legion. Others in the ''Franchise/StarWarsExpandedUniverse'' followed suit. The clones who marched with pre-Mustafar Vader to massacre Jedi in ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith''? The 501st. Needless to say, the cosplayers are very pleased.
** They were Cannonized. Ba-dum tiss.
* Andrea Camilleri's books are set in Vigata, a fictional town in UsefulNotes/{{Sicily}}, which is based on Porto Empedocle (Camilleri's birthplace) and Licata. In 2003, the city administration of Porto Empedocle added the fictional name to the tourist signs, which would then read ''Porto Empedocle Vigata'', without actually changing the city's name. The decision has been reversed as of 2009.
* Fans have created real-world playable rules and decks for [[http://www.pagat.com/invented/sabacc.html Sabacc]], a card game played in the ''Franchise/StarWarsExpandedUniverse''.
* ''Franchise/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy'' -- The Guide itself, envisioned by Creator/DouglasAdams as a digital collaborative resource encompassing life, the Universe, and everything and contributed to by countless independent researchers, was created as [[http://www.h2g2.com/ a real-life online encyclopedia]] by Creator/DouglasAdams himself in 1999. It can be seen as a spiritual predecessor to Website/ThatOtherWiki (due to the broadness of content) and even Website/TVTropes (due to its similarly casual tone) itself.
** Fan-made recipes for the series' "Pan-Galactic GargleBlaster" drink have been circulating since the start.
** When the Kindle was released with full web access, especially access to Website/ThatOtherWiki, most people understood that meant ''Franchise/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy'' had been truly defictionalized. [[http://xkcd.com/548/ XKCD]] points this out. Also, some people went and [[http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2009/03/12/first-laser-etched-kindle-2-the-hitchhikers-guide-to-the-galaxy-dont-panic/ customized their Kindle]] to look more like the 'real' thing.
** The film ''Boys & Girls Guide to Getting Down'' is in a strangely similar format.
* Creator/OrsonScottCard wrote a book called ''Literature/SpeakerForTheDead'', in which the speaker researches the life of the deceased, then tells the deceased's life story as they would have told it. According to OSC, people have started doing this in real life, and apparently, it is a very emotional experience.
* ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' - The Bella Italia restaurant in Port Angeles, Washington, [[http://www.peninsuladailynews.com/article/20080801/NEWS/808010304 started serving mushroom ravioli]] only after fans started requesting it, since ''Bella'' orders it during a diner with Edward.
* "Poohsticks", introduced by that name in Creator/AAMilne's ''Literature/WinnieThePooh'' [[note]]and portrayed in the Creator/{{Disney}} short ''A Day for Eeyore''[[/note]] is a simple game doubtless imitated by many readers/viewers who come across it: Drop two sticks (or fir cones as were first used) into a river on one side of the bridge, first one out on the other side wins). Who'd have thought it could lead to an annual [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poohsticks#World_Poohsticks_Championships World Poohsticks Championship]] though?
* Literature/SherlockHolmes famously lived at 221B Baker Street, which was turned into an actual address and is now a museum for Holmes fans. (Originally, Baker Street didn't extend far enough to ''have'' a #221, which is no doubt why Doyle chose that number.)
* Michael Muhammad Knight wrote a book called ''The Taqwacores'' about a then-fictional Muslim punk scene. The idea struck the fancy of a number of punk-minded Muslim kids who proceeded to actually bring the Taqwacore scene into existence.
* ''Icehouse'', the game and game system from Looney Labs, started out as an idealized fictional game in Andrew Looney's short novel ''The Empty City''.
* ''Literature/{{Goosebumps}}'': Goldberger Doll corporation started manufacturing and selling real Slappy the Dummy ventriloquist dolls after getting a request from a young fan.
* The Arthur C. Clarke novel ''Literature/TheCityAndTheStars'' begins with our heroes playing a virtual reality adventure game. This wasn't a new concept, even in 1956 when the book was published. However, two small details indicate that Clarke thought the concept through more than his colleagues: the game contains a bona fide Quest Arrow showing our heroes where to go; and Alvin causes the game to crash by attempting SequenceBreaking. After the game crashes, the other players (who are each in their own apartments, connected together by a telecommunication link) accuse Alvin of [[{{Griefer}} constantly crashing their games]]. He honestly wants to see the scenery [[MinusWorld outside]] the dungeons they were adventuring in, but [[DevelopersForesight nobody thought to implement that]], since Alvin is the only non-agoraphobic man in the city.
* U.S. Robotics, a company that manufactures dialup modems, took its name from the fictional U.S. Robots and Mechanical Men corporation featured in ''Literature/IRobot'', though the company has never manufactured robots itself.
* The Niven & Barnes novel, ''Literature/DreamPark'' has experienced two such attempts:
** The Dream Park, a holographic [=LARPing=] theme park, was built as a fan-created corporation intended to establish the titular park. The organization unfortunately went bankrupt in 1999.
** The novel's game-regulating organization, the IFGS, actually has been Defictionalized into a [=LARP=]ing club that stages its games outdoors.
* An in-universe example in Creator/PoulAnderson's "Critique of Impure Reason" -- Tunny and Janet fake up a novel and its criticism to persuade the robot to go to Mercury and mine. But other people get wind of it, and at the end, Tunny rolls out the book for popular reading and hopes of a new fiction rennaissance.
* In UsefulNotes/WorldWarTwo, the US Navy took the idea that became the Command Information Center "specifically, consciously, and directly" from Doc Smith's Literature/{{Lensman}} novels.
* In Literature/SnowCrash, the main character Hiro Protagonist uses a program called Earth, which later was an inspiration for Google Earth
* It's possible to get mockingjay pins inspired by ''Literature/TheHungerGames'' series.
* Fan merch for the Literature/{{Dragaera}} novels includes copies of the menu at Valabar's, as per the dining scenes in ''Literature/{{Dzur}}''. Fans of the series have sometimes attempted to reproduce the recipes as well, albeit with substitutions for things like goslingroot or rednuts.
* In Lauren Child's Clarice Bean novels (not picture books) Clarice is a fan of "Ruby Redford" books about a schoolgirl super-spy. Due to reader demand, Child has since written several Ruby Redford books.
* The popular sixteenth-century Spanish novel ''Las sergas de Esplandián'' described a strange, mythical land inhabited by beautiful Amazons. The name of this place? California. Spanish explorers named what they thought was an island (present-day Baja California) after the book. And five hundreds years later, California does have a reputation for being a strange land with beautiful women, though sadly not Amazons.
* Literature/RobinsonCrusoe: In the 1960s one of the islands near South America was named Robinson Crusoe Island as a homage to the novel in which Crusoe is stuck on a tropical isle.
* Inventor and [=SpaceX=] CEO Elon Musk named two of the company's spaceport drone ships ''Just Read the Instructions'' and ''Of Course I Still Love You'', after ships from Creator/IainBanks' novel ''Literature/ThePlayerOfGames''.
* ''Literature/PaperTowns'':
** The nerdfighters have made real-life versions of many things in it, like go-fast bars and the shopping list, as partially documented in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arQkK0PH748 this]] WebVideo/VlogBrothers episode.
** Also, Omnictionary was once made into a real website; it was a wiki for Creator/JohnGreen and the activities and history of [[WebVideo/VlogBrothers Nerdfighteria]], although it's now disbanded.
* Creator/CatherynneMValente's novel ''Literature/{{Palimpsest}}'' featured a fictional children's novel [[ShowWithinAShow within the story]] called ''Literature/TheGirlWhoCircumnavigatedFairylandInAShipOfHerOwnMaking''. Valente subsequently wrote the novel in real life, and several sequels.
* In the 1970s, the Romanian government made efforts to attract a larger number of tourists from Western Europe as a source of hard currency. They naturally received inquiries about visiting the castle from ''Literature/{{Dracula}}'', probably the most famous fictional work set in the country. Unfortunately, Bram Stoker had never even visited Romania, and there had never been a castle at the Borgo Pass as described in the novel. So the Romanians built a modern hotel designed to look externally like a medieval castle, and promoted it as Dracula's Castle. It still exists as the [[http://www.hotelcasteldracula.ro/ Hotel Castel Dracula]]. To increase the spooky atmosphere, the hotel's grounds included a genuine local graveyard.
* ''Literature/TwentyThousandLeaguesUnderTheSea'', published 1869, featured the fantastic idea of a nuclear-powered submarine. In 1954, the world's first nuclear sub was named the ''USS Nautilus'' in honor of the book.
* In one story of ''Literature/TheCyberiad'' a genius constructor pitied an exiled tyrant and gave him a miniature kingdom in a box -- to rule, punish and show mercy to. This toy inspired the video game ''Micropolis'' better known as ''VideoGame/SimCity'' -- the one that created SimulationGame genre. However, the story centers not on urban planning, but on the morality of VideogameCrueltyPotential, and also suggests an outrageous VideogameCrueltyPunishment.
* One of the ''Literature/CaptainUnderpants'' books has a look into George and Harold's origins as best friends and creating comics. One of their comics was known as Dog Man, and years later, Dav Pilkey himself wrote and published a separate Dog Man book!
** In the mid-2000s Scholastic sold a version of the 3D Hypno Ring from ''Series/CaptainUnderpants'' through their Scholastic Book Club Service. It even included an owner's manual with the warning not to dump water on the head of a hypnotized person.
* The small French town of Illiers, near Paris, inspired Combray in childhood resident Creator/MarcelProust's ''A la recherche de temps perdu''. To make sure tourists know where to go for their madeleine moments, it has renamed itself Illiers-Combray.
* The protagonist of ''Literature/ThePrincessDiaries'' "wrote" a romance novel called ''Ransom My Heart'', excerpts of which were included in the tenth book. Then the author published the whole thing as a standalone book.
* Creator/AnnLeckie seems to be a fan of this. When touring to promote each book in her ''Literature/ImperialRadch'' series she gave out pins to fans, like the Radchaai wear, and has offered a limited supply for sale on Etsy a few times. When promoting ''Provenance'' she signed vestiges.
* Creator/KimNewman's novel ''Literature/TheSecretsOfDrearcliffGrangeSchool'' is a defictionalisation of a fictional novel mentioned in his earlier novel ''Literature/AnEnglishGhostStory''.
* A lot of the SpySpeak created by Creator/JohnLeCarre was adopted by real-life intelligence agencies, most noticeably "Tradecraft" (the knowledge base necessary to be a spy) and "TheMole".
* ''Literature/HarryPotter'':
** The series includes a fair amount of FoodPorn, so naturally some of its more interesting foodstuffs have been manufactured in the real world, including Butterbeer, Chocolate Frogs, and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans.
** J.K. Rowling wrote and published real-life versions of the [[FictionalDocument fictional books]] ''Literature/FantasticBeastsAndWhereToFindThem'', ''Literature/QuidditchThroughTheAges'' and ''Literature/TheTalesOfBeedleTheBard''
** Quidditch, originally a fictional sport exclusive to the series, recently became a real thing in 2005 when it was played in a Middlebury, Vermont game, though it became known as Muggle Quidditch to distinguish it from the fictional version. Then in 2015, a new [semi]-professional league was born under the name of Major League Quidditch, which is played primarily in the Midwestern and Northeastern U.S., but also has teams in the Deep South and Ontario, Canada.
* Rainbow Rowell's ''Fangirl'' includes the fictional Simon Snow novels, an {{Expy}} of Literature/HarryPotter; the protagonist Cath writes a lengthy fan fiction about her own version of Simon's eighth and final year at school, called "Carry On, Simon". Rowell later wrote a full novel set in the Simon Snow universe called ''Literature/CarryOn'' – however, the book is not "Carry On, Simon" itself: rather, it is Simon's final year if written by Rowell as herself, rather than as Cath or as in-universe author Gemma T Leslie. ''Literature/CarryOn'' spawned sequels of its own, ''Wayward Son'' and the upcoming ''Any Way the Wind Blows''.
* Walter Tevis' 1959 novel ''The Hustler'' (adapted into the [[Film/TheHustler1961 1961 film of the same name]]) has legendary pool player Minnesota Fats as its antagonist. Actual pool hustler Rudolf Wanderone changed his name from New York Fats to Minnesota Fats after the success of the book and film. He then claimed that the fictional character was based on him, which Tevis and the filmmakers both denied.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* The Sakuma Drop candy in ''Anime/GraveOfTheFireflies'', which was Setsuko's [[TrademarkFavoriteFood favorite snack]], actually [[InvertedTrope existed in real life]] before the anime was made. An exact replica can from the anime was released in 1988 and reprinted in 2008. That said, it's [[MoodWhiplash outright jarring]] to see Setsuko printed on the can, considering '''[[MisaimedMarketing how it was used in the end]]'''.
* ''Anime/KujibikiUnbalance'' was originally a ShowWithinAShow of ''Manga/{{Genshiken}}'', but was eventually made into a real series with an altered premise. When the characters within the original watched the real series the changes were incorporated ''back'' into the show!
** When the retooled ''Kujiun'' series became a manga, it included a bonus {{omake}} chapter of ''Genshiken'' where they discussed the retooled ''Kujiun'' series becoming a manga and the changes made to it, including a LampshadeHanging ("[[WhoWouldWantToWatchUs Who the hell is Kio Shimoku?]]"). Reincorporation Combo Attack!
* ''Anime/PuniPuniPoemi'' began as a ShowWithinAShow on ''Anime/ExcelSaga''. Before that, it was an in-joke among the production staff.
* ''Anime/GetsumenToHeikiMina'', another ShowWithinAShow (this one on ''[[Literature/TrainMan2004 Densha Otoko]]'') was made into its own show as well.
* ''Anime/{{Macross}}'' has this in spades, usually related to the various IdolSinger[=s=] of the franchise:
** The fictional band Fire Bomber from ''Anime/{{Macross 7}}'' has released ''over a dozen albums''.
** Sharon Apple of ''Anime/MacrossPlus'' is basically an ahead-of-her-time Music/{{Vocaloid}}. See VirtualCelebrity for just how far this has gone.
** Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee's microphones from ''Anime/MacrossFrontier'' are available products, and not only can they play their respective singer's songs, but they also have duet functionality with each other.
** The fictional girl group Walküre from ''Anime/MacrossDelta'' is now a legit group, with Minori Suzuki and JUNNA as its lead singers (but not as their characters though but themselves), with Kiyono Yasuno, Nozomi Nishida and Creator/NaoTouyama (Kaname, Makina and Reina respectively) also part of the group.
* It's been insinuated for a while that a "real" version of the ShowWithinAShow ''Anime/{{Gekiganger 3}}'' from ''Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico'' would be produced. It got a half-hour anime movie, but we're still waiting for the series. ShowWithinAShow within a Show within a Show... The recap episode, by the end, is ''Nadesico'' watching ''Gekigangar'' watching ''Nadesico'' watching ''Gekigangar.''
* In 1995, Creator/StudioGhibli released a movie, ''Anime/WhisperOfTheHeart'' about a girl struggling to write a fantasy novel. The movie included short vignettes from various scenes she was struggling with. Sure enough, due to popular demand the book-within-the-movie got its own movie in 2002, titled ''Anime/TheCatReturns''. (Though the plot of ''Anime/TheCatReturns'' is actually quite different from what was hinted at in ''Anime/WhisperOfTheHeart''. The only big thing that remains the same is the Baron.)
** Which is interesting as, during the period when Ghibli films (specifically Miyazaki) were a big thing, ''The Cat Returns'' was constantly shown as a trailer with other Disney/Ghibli films, while ''Heart'' or its connection is never mentioned at all.
* ''Anime/MinamiKe'' have Chiaki's stuffed bear Fujioka involved in many gags. Good Smile Company eventually made [[http://www.goodsmile.info/en/product/3155/Fujioka+Plushie+Real+Size.html a real life version]] of that teddy bear.
* ''[[Anime/YuGiOh Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters]]'' Trading Card Game:
** Back when the manga revolved around [[SuperpoweredEvilSide The Other Yugi]] punishing evildoers with deadly games, Seto Kaiba was just another one-off villain. The "Magic & Wizards" card game was introduced for that one story, with Kaiba resorting to dirty tricks in order to steal Sugoroku's rare Blue-Eyes White Dragon card; when Yugi calls him on it and Kaiba refuses to return the card, things get ugly and The Other Yugi challenges Kaiba to a Shadow Game version of Magic & Wizards. Of course, Kaiba and the M&W card game became popular enough to make a comeback later on, and eventually they not only took over the entire premise, but also spawned a merchandising powerhouse.
** They also tried that with ''Dungeon Dice Monsters'', but with much less success. Probably 'cause of the limited selection of monsters and the hassle of finding another player of the game. The Gameboy Advance version sold a bit better.
** Bandai Hobby released a replica of the Millennium Puzzle as part of the Ultimagear line, allowing fans to have a crack at the puzzle itself. Just like the source material, there's no instructions on how it comes together. The instructions packed in is just the assembly guide for each individual piece of the puzzle, due to its model kit nature.
** At one point, there were real-life Duel Disks based on the ones from the anime and manga. Unfortunately, these were rife with a bevy of problems, apart from the lack of holographic imagry. The slots that held the cards were too small for sleeves, meaning bending or ripping the cards would have been inevitable. There was also the fact that they didn't give you a good view of each other's fields, meaning your opponent could try to pull a fast one on you. There's also the fact that their size and weight meant you'd have ''insane'' wrist cramps afterwards. Ultimately, they were discontinued.
* The "City with No People" book series in Creator/{{CLAMP}}'s manga ''Manga/{{Chobits}}'' had the first two books published in a set, complete with a read-along CD by Chi's voice actress.
* [[http://lainos.sourceforge.net/ LainOS]]. ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: an OS meant to recreate the ExtremeGraphicalRepresentation of the computers from ''Anime/SerialExperimentsLain''.
* Does anyone want to own [[http://www.nanoha.com/archive3/goods/acc_val.html Bardiche,]] [[http://www.nanoha.com/archive3/goods/acc_sh.html Schwertkreuz,]] or [[http://www.nanoha.com/archive3/goods/acc_mach.html Mach Calibre]] from ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha''? Unfortunately, they only come in pendant form. If you want their {{Robo Speak}}ing, [[ExcessiveSteamSyndrome steam releasing]] weapon form, you're gonna have to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUn1g33rIQo make them yourself]].
* ''Manga/XxxHolic'' invokes the trope InUniverse. There is an early chapter where Yuuko is showing Watanuki around her shop's storeroom. On one shelf is the Clow Wand from ''Manga/CardcaptorSakura'', but then Yuuko reveals it to be just a mass-market light-and-noise-making toy replica.
* Anything ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' related, usually in reference to [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} the anime]]. More recently, Ash's Pikachu, Ash & friends' Pokémon sent over Wi-Fi, eggs, etc.
** The hat Ash constantly wore in the first few seasons of the anime was sold as a real hat after the show took off internationally. This extended to his later hats.
* Naoki Urasawa made a real issue of the series that ThoseTwoGuys are frequently seen drawing in ''Manga/TwentiethCenturyBoys,'' featuring huge amounts of StylisticSuck. The iconic song Kenji sings on the street has also been recorded, sung by the manga-ka, no less.
* ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'' - A piece of the ImpossiblyCoolClothes is now available thanks to a Japanese clothing company; Yoshikage Kira's swank tie with the horned skulls. It's reportedly expensive, so one would be advised against using it for cosplay. It is for sale on Amazon.com[[note]]Though this is liable to change in the unforeseeable future.[[/note]] for ~$414 USD. CrackIsCheaper indeed.
* ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'' has a big history of the series getting defictionalized stuff in some of its seasons. These include:
** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam'' - A 1/1 scale model of the RX-78-2 Gundam which can move its head around was created to celebrate the series's 30th anniversary. There is also an actual institution that is researching a real-live Psycommu. It even has "New Type" in its name. "Gundam" is also a fairly popular secret Code Name for in-development military projects. The RX-78-2 was replaced with its spiritual and current ultimate successor, the RX-0 Gundam Unicorn, in March of 2017. This was latter topped by the RX-78F00 Gundam and its Gundam Dock at the Gundam Factory Yokohama, which does have moving limbs, and shows how big an actual Gundam would be in real life.
*** In 2020, Bandai defictionalized Gundarium, the {{Unobtainium}} used to make the RX-78-2 Gundam and many other mobile suits, for a limited edition model kit of the Gundam. In this case it's an alloy of titanium, aluminum, and yttrium, though unlike its original name "Luna Titanium" it doesn't use any materials from the Moon. It still costs around $2000 USD, though.
** In ''Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam'', the Mobile Suits of the AEUG descended to Jaburo via a special parachute-like device known as a Ballute. In 2017, scientists created and proclaimed success of a similarly-themed device for spacecraft and seek to make some for space shuttles.
** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamIronBloodedOrphans'' - The bracelets made by Atra, the dishes used by Naze and Orga, and Mika's TrademarkFavoriteFood Mars Palm, are available as [[http://g-tekketsu.com/products/apparel.php official merchandises]].
* One of the available merchandise from ''Manga/{{Saki}}'' is a real life Etopen. Now, you too can have your own plump penguin plushie to hug during TabletopGame/{{Mahjong}} games.
* ''Anime/ParanoiaAgent'': You can actually buy Maromi the Dog stress toys in Japan. Delicious {{Irony}}.
* A blue and white striped bowl went on the market after ''Manga/KOn'' ended. It brings some... ''interesting'' implications as the bowl was featured as a [[SexyDiscretionShot Panty Discretion Shot]].
** The same thing happened to [[http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2010-09-14/k-on-album-to-ship-on-audio-cassette-tape an audio cassette]] that the characters "recorded" at the end of the second season.
* One of the more brain-tickling examples, the Laughing Man from ''Anime/GhostInTheShellStandAloneComplex'' and his trademark smiley symbol, both identified as memes and used to examine the phenomenon within the show, have become memes in real life as well, appearing on sweatshirts, bags, and message boards. And [[MagnificentBastard Lazy cosplayers]]. You'd be surprised how effective a paper mask of the logo over a hooded sweatshirt actually works.
** And what about the technology? Japanese scientists have created metamaterials that make things invisible by refracting light around the object.
* In ''Manga/JunjouRomantica'', Usagi writes BL novels using his own experiences and fantasies as inspiration. Naturally enough, some of the novels were written for real under the series title ''Junai Romantica''.
* ''Manga/LuckyStar'' creator Kagami Yoshimizu's former home in Satte, Saitama, Japan was since reformed into a replica of Konata's house with a few museum exhibits. [[http://aaroninjapan09.wordpress.com/2009/08/20/isumi-konatas-house/ Look for]] [[http://ruce.blog5.fc2.com/blog-entry-2268.html yourself.]]
* Urahara's hat [[http://www.amazon.com/Bleach-2247-Urahara-Kisuke-Hat/dp/B000NO54SG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1263068414&sr=8-1 from]] ''Manga/{{Bleach}}''. Also Soul Candy.
** Not to mention any number of zanpakutō, more commonly in their ''shikai'' form (as their normal form is a simple katana with a stylized tsuba (handguard); no functionality though (Renji's is frequently sought after)
* ''{{LightNovel/Durarara}}'' has an in-universe example where [[{{Otaku}} Walker and Erika]] have managed to defictionalize ''Anime/DarkerThanBlack'' protagonist Hei's trademark grappling knives, complete with a miniature generator to mimic his ShockAndAwe powers [[spoiler:for the purposes of [[TortureTechnician torture]]]]. In the real world, fans actually made a 'Dollars' board, complete with password and everything. (It's actually more along the lines of a fan forum, however.)
** There's also a chatroom that's designed exactly like Durarara's chat. Unsurprisingly, a majority of the users use it to RP sex, yaoi, yuri to a far lesser extent, and to rp anime, and to rp anime-like scenarios including DRRR itself.
** Arguably the internet group Anonymous could be seen as a real life counterpart to the Dollars.
* [[http://www.399animeshop.com/anime/full-metal-alchemist/fma-state-alchemist-pocket-watch.php The State Alchemist pocket watch]] from ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist''.
* ''Space Travelers: The Animation'' [[note]]not related to the re-branded version of ''Film/{{Marooned}}'' seen on ''Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000''[[/note]] was produced as a spinoff for a live action caper comedy also called ''Space Travelers''. The gimmick was that it was the ShowWithinAShow that inspired one of the main characters of the live action film, a wannabe bank robber, to talk his partners in crime, and the hostages in the bank who quickly suffered StockholmSyndrome, to adopt the personas of the show's characters while negotiating with the cops, so everyone starts to [[BecomingTheMask Become Their Mask]] while planning to escape. Creator/MediaBlasters licenced the anime movie, but without the tie-in to the live-action movie, or any reference to it, all they had was a SciFi ClicheStorm and a cast of awesome names.
* In ''Manga/{{MAR}}'', the characters use magic powers through the use of accessories called [=ARMs=]. These same [=ARMs=] were then sold as part of the MAR Heaven Card Game in real life, although presumably sans magic powers.
* The protagonist of ''Manga/SakendeYaruze'' is a {{voice actor|s}} for an anime called "Diet Girl Miyuki." Afterwards the mangaka turned ''Diet Girl Miyuki/Miracle Dieter Miyuki'' into its own manga.
* There are currently people trying to build [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rg9lQR-XsrE gliders]] like those in ''Manga/NausicaaOfTheValleyOfTheWind''.
* [[http://www.iridiumbased.com ''The World'']] from ''[[Franchise/DotHack .hack]]''.
* For a time, the picture book ''The Nameless Monster'' by Emil Sebe from Anime/{{Monster}} was available... [[NoExportForYou only in Japan though.]]
* ''Siscalypse'', the [[ShowWithinAShow Game Within a Show]] from ''LightNovel/{{Oreimo}}'', is seeing a RealLife version, albeit 2D rather than 3D as it was in the original.
** In one episode, we see Kirino's Stardust Witch Meruru figure collection, which contains a Meruru Nendoroid. This was made into an actual Nendoroid.
* Somebody in Japan actually built Kaneda's bike from ''Manga/{{Akira}}''.
* [[http://japanvisitor.blogspot.com/2009/02/satsuki-and-meis-house.html Satsuki and Mei's house]] from ''Anime/MyNeighborTotoro''.
* {{Inverted}} in ''Manga/WanderingSon''. A previous manga by the mangaka was made into a play created by the protagonist.
* ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'': The Ancient Mew Card seen in ''[[Anime/Pokemon2000 Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One]]'' was made into a real card given out at cinemas showing the film in the U.S. with every ticket sale.
* ''Anime/HellGirl'' - [[http://jigokutsushin.co.nr/ The "real" Hell Correspondence website.]] [[spoiler: By the way, it doesn't work. If you watch the show, you should know that the process goes like: 1) Enter Target Name. 2) Click 'Submit'. 3) Ai Enma appears to give you the black straw doll with red string. 4) You pull the string. 5) Target goes to Hell. The site only goes until Step 2, so there's no black straw doll, so you can't send your target to Hell. So you need not fear having a certain black mark put on your neck setting ''you'' on the path to hell.]]
* ''Otter's 11'', a rival manga in ''Manga/BakuMan'' had a single chapter published in an issue of Shonen Jump, credited to Kazuya Hiramaru, the in-universe author.
* Straight from ''Franchise/DragonBall'', Brother's [[http://www.brother.co.uk/g3.cfm/s_page/888150 AiRScouter]] brings Frieza's military technology right into your home, or specifically onto one eye. Sadly, it doesn't read PowerLevels, but the name and aesthetics are a clear ShoutOut. It's mainly designed for industrial use, allowing hands-free instruction and correspondence. Which retroactively explains [[BoringButPractical why the cold-blooded tyrannical aliens were using such a silly-looking headpiece in the first place]].
* ''Anime/YokaiWatch'':
** You can buy your very own Yo-kai Watch, along with some Yo-kai Medals, as well as the Great Yokai Dictionary and the Yo-Kai Pad.
** In the anime, Jibanyan mentions that he loves an idol group named Next Harmeowny, [[http://akb48-daily.blogspot.com/2014/12/meow-kb-crossover-with-yokai-watch.html which later became a real group]]... [[NoExportForYou but in Japan only]], where its real name is [=NyAKB=]48.
** Also, the chocolate bars that Jibanyan eats were made into an official product. Bandai creates new flavors of the snack every few months, such as milk and strawberry.
* ''Anime/CrayonShinChan'''s favorite snack food, Chocobi, later became a real product also made by Bandai to tie in with the franchise. Complete with commericals, like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpzbPtDYt5A this one!]]
* This trope was pretty much invoked when ''Anime/SuzysZooDaisukiWitzy'' plush toys started appearing, since Boof, Lulla, Patches and Ellie Funt are plushies to begin with.
* The colored pencils Kokoro uses in ''Anime/KamisamaMinaraiHimitsuNoCocotama'' [[http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51sRtJsHbGL._SY355_.jpg were made into a real set of colored pencils]].
** The follow-up series, ''Kirakira Happy! Open! Cocotama!" has an actual toy of the key used by Haruka.
* There's a real life Prism Stone shop in Harajuku just like the ones seen in the ''VideoGame/PrettySeries'' It sells clothes based on the ones the characters in both series wear, as well as character merchandise. You can also play ''Pretty Rhythm'', ''[=PriPara=]'' and ''Kiratto [=PriChan=]'' there.
** They also made items based on items shown in the anime versions of the Pretty Series:
*** Pretty Rhythm only had five items, which were the Batopons from Aurora Dream, the Smart Pods the girls use in Dear My Future and Rainbow Live and the headphones and guitar used in the Rainbow Live series.
*** [=PriPara=] has many items from the show that were fictionalized, which include the file bags the girls carry their [=PriTickets=] in, the [=PriPass=] cellphones that initiate Cyalume Change, the microphones the idols use [[note]] There are five different types, which include a series of candy toys, a Gashapon set, a set of plush pencil cases, a set of [[UsefulNotes/McDonalds Happy Meal]] toys based on the microphones and a battery-operated toy [[FollowTheLeader similar to the aforementioned Yo-Kai Watch]] which reads heart-shaped jewels. [[/note]] the Cyalume Charm, the Miracle Pact, Aroma's spellbook, Mirei's penalty tickets, the student handbook from Paparika Academy, the closet trunks, the Rosette Pact, the Cyalume Tact, the Idol Time Mic, the Idol Watch, the Idol Harp, Takki, Falulu's Non and the doll Hibiki uses to avoid embarrassing situations.
