* ''[[https://www.wattpad.com/story/141034654-fear-garden-a-idfb-fanfic Fear Garden]]'' is a ''WebAnimation/BattleForDreamIsland'' fic based on the Music/{{Vocaloid}} song of the same name, in which Pin severs the hands of her friends to plant them in her garden.

* Due to the nature of ''Fanfic/ADollsHeart'' being a crossover between the ''VideoGame/LobotomyCorporation'' (and by extent, ''VideoGame/LibraryOfRuina'') universe and the story of ''Anime/PrimaDoll'', it becomes this. Instead of the 19th-century Japan-inspired country, it takes place in Project Moon's CrapSackWorld named the City. The cutesy dolls of the anime that were originally used for war but repurposed to work in a cafe are now only that on the surface, while they're actually robotic bodies made to trap a person's soul beneath the surface, and unlike the original anime, existential questions are explored like DoAndroidsDream and what happens if they power down forever (a FateWorseThanDeath). A good example of a twisted event is the song in chapter/episode 5: whereas Haizakura sings about a lone cat in the rain, Malkuth sings a cover of ''Dareka no Shinzou ni Nareta Nara'' by [=YurryCanon=], which is about the fragility of life, the City and its people and about life itself.

* ''Theatre/LittleShopOfHorrors'' is somewhat dark at times on its own, but somewhere on Website/DeviantART, some fanfics are, instead of a surreal musical romantic comedy from the 80's based off of a dark comedy from the 60's, quite dark and dramatic, such as ''[[http://mjsmoothcriminal999.deviantart.com/art/Seymour-s-Nightmare-155889912 Seymour's Nightmare]]''.

** ''Fanfic/TheSacredAndTheProfane'' is an AlternateUniverseFic where Aziraphale fell instead of Crowley, which causes their canon personalities to become thoroughly warped: Aziraphale's affability becomes the [[StepfordSmiler facade]] Zirah assumes to convince others ([[WhatHaveIBecome and himself]]) that he's really an angelic soul when he's not [[DissonantSerenity casually offing]] [[AxCrazy people]], Crowley's [[HoYay tendency to]] [[NobleDemon be not so evil]] around Aziraphale is translated into Caphriel's [[LoveMartyr inability to let go of his love for]] Zirah despite him being a psychopath, and their relationship, which is normally a happy and loving one in fanfic, is a tragic DestructiveRomance here that leads to [[spoiler:Caphriel ''outright killing'' Zirah to get over his unhealthy love for him]]. And all because an angel [[ForWantOfANail had the wrong thought in the wrong place.]]

* Many ''Series/{{Mash}}'' fics focus on Hawkeye Pierce struggling to adjust to life after the war and often end with him being DrivenToSuicide. Arguably justifiable, as he always was a little bipolar and [[spoiler:had a complete psychological breakdown in the series finale that caused him to be committed to a mental hospital.]] Fanfic writer Meredith Bronwen Mallory has some disturbingly well-written darkfics on Website/FanFictionDotNet. Mostly SlashFic, but all haunting and brilliant.
