* As of June 2007, BBC-made shows are not allowed to have anything happening in the end credits, since the credits may be squashed, stretched or talked over. In response to this, Charlie Brooker's satirical BBC series ''Series/{{Screenwipe}}'' ran the credits right at the start in full, then cut to a spoof documentary on "corners", hosted by Victoria Coren. Brooker then walked into Coren's scene halfway through, pushed Victoria off-camera and proceeded to rant about the state of British credits. At the end of the episode, Brooker pointed out that the credits had already been shown and unceremoniously -- and abruptly -- ended the show without anything, just cutting straight to the BBC continuity announcer.

Not to be confused with CreativeClosingCredits or simply running credits over TheTag, TheStinger, or the HilariousOuttakes, a '''credits gag''' involves a show making jokes within, about or upon the credits themselves. These may be a form of CouchGag in a television series.

** In 1992, the band released three solo albums, two of which had some fun with the credits:
*** ''King Buzzo'' credits Music/DaveGrohl's drumming to Dale Nixon - this is a ShoutOut to Music/BlackFlag's ''My War'', where Greg Ginn played both guitar and bass, but used the Dale Nixon pseudonym for the latter.
***''Joe Preston'' credits Marina Sirtis with "counseling", as a reference to the actress who played [[Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration Counselor Deanna Troi]] - the album lists two additional musicians that seem to be pseudonyms for Joe Preston himself, as "Salty Green" was also credited on bass on Melvins' "Night Goat" single, and Denial Fiend was the drummer of BlackMetal band Hellhammer and it's unlikely he actually appeared on the recording. Joe Preston himself is only credited with vocals and mixing, and even the former might be a subtle gag - the album is entirely instrumental save for some SpokenWordInMusic clips taken from ''Film/ApocalypseNow''.
