The original statement was...well, not true. Re:Chain of Memories did have a Japanese version, and in fact, the Japanese version was the ONLY version until the game was dubbed over a year later.

However, sometimes there are exceptions to this, and be it by AdaptationDistillation, Woolseyism, or SuperlativeDubbing, the new version of a story comes out so much better than the old that even the original creator admits the superiority of the new one.

Let's face it: most of the time, a work is at its best in its original form.
