When it was relaunched in 2020 as a GMC model, it has gone fully-electric instead of carrying gasoline engines like their predecessors, though the HummerDinger trope is still in effect.

* The ''ComicBook/LegionOfSuperHeroes'' did this twice. The first time was set up by ''ComicBook/ZeroHour'' and the second more vaguely by ''ComicBook/InfiniteCrisis''. ''ComicBook/FinalCrisis'' then did it a ''third'' time, restoring a version of the Legion mostly like the original. It was later revealed that all three Legions were canonical. At the same time. The first Legion is canonical to the main DCU. The Zero Hour one is from a universe that was destroyed during ''ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths'' which "replaced" the first one because of the Time Trapper's interference. The Threeboot universe is a Legion from an existing AlternateUniverse, Earth-Prime, which the Time Trapper tried to replace after the Zero Hour Legion got thrown into the Bleed (or Limbo or whatever).

** ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure'' was somewhere between a SoftReboot and a full continuity reboot, with the severity depending on whether you grew up with the diverging Japanese or western continuity. Starting with that game, the western versions of the games began to follow the Japanese continuity; thus, for example, Sonic now [[EarthDrift lives on Earth instead of the distant planet Mobius]], and "Eggman" is adopted as the antagonist's primary name instead of "Robotnik". ''Sonic Adventure'' does make it clear that the events of the classic Genesis games still occurred in this universe, but only indirectly through flashbacks or {{Continuity Nod}}s.

This is a rambling and rather confusing paragraph which doesn't seem to bring much to the article.

However, in a meta standpoint, reboots are not actually something that puts an end to main continuities then revives them differently. In conjunction with the reboots being made, the mainstream counterparts still actually exist because they were not only preserved, but also archived ever since, therefore making them alternate continuities above all else, or in an alternate perspective, even as replicated continuities that happen to be invented with deviations to keep them from being exactly alike. In terms of simplicity, if a company "reboots" a specific show or whatever the case may be, the main continuity on the former side doesn't cease to exist. This is TruthInTelevision as it has been revealed, the mainstream entertainment media was archived online ever since as well as in real life, even to this day. For one example, this is also proven with the websites where you can watch cartoons online, even though the said kind of sites are to archive and preserve them.

None

Often called a "re-imagining" by squeamish writers not wanting to admit that they are throwing out previous continuity (though not always, see AlternateContinuity for exceptions), though this causes confusion as "re-imagining" is also used in the same context as "remake": ground-up retellings with no connection to past continuity (''Film/PlanetOfTheApes2001'', for example, which is credited with popularizing the term "re-imagining" in this context). Often abused by [[CowboyBebopAtHisComputer ignorant journalists]] who refer to any reappearance of a show as a "reboot", even when it is explicitly a {{Revival}}. For when the reboot is caused by a specific, identifiable character, ''that character'' is a ContinuityRebooter. When it just happens to one person it is RetGone. If the original continuity is later revisited and ignores the newer canon, you have an {{Unreboot}}.
