Before start to ramble like an egocentrical jerk, do some research: Felis silverstris was first domesticated in Northern Africa, region that, last time I checked, was not precisely forest-rich. Then there is the whole deal of the entry not ading anything, and the whole attitude which cannot be tolerated in an article.

*** Fun fact: The above is all wrong. House cats are ''Felis sylvestris'', which means "forest cat", for a reason. Their closest relatives live in scrub and bushlands, not deserts. Besides, many desert animals have no fear of water, so the explanation doesn't even work. To my knowledge, there's no well-evidenced explanation for this aspect of cat behavior. It's been suggested that water disrupts the oils on the cat's fur, but I can't find any sources demonstrating this explanation is any more randomly-created-by-armchair-experts than any other random reason someone might come up with.

**The issue is with instincts. Most domestic cat breeds are descended from felines in desert areas, so as a rule, they have an instinctual fear of large bodies of water (they so seldom see them). For that matter, dog breeds from similar areas have similar aversion to water. This instinct is not as strong in some cats, and it can be completely overcome with training (although generally this has to happen before the cat in question is full-grown).
